Tas Bloomsbury in Camden

The food was ok, but the staff were disinterested and unhelpful. It’s been a long time since I’ve had such bad service. The waitress brought the menus to the table without a word, we had to ask twice for water while waiting for our friend to arrive. Not a smile or a word, I felt like asking who had just died? I would not have left a tip but unfortunately service was automatically added to the bill. Definitely won’t be returning!

The best turkish food I've had in London with great options for meat eaters, veggies and vegans like. Mix of mezze and bigger meals with generous portions, perfectly cooked. I would say the servers/managers could perhaps smile a little more but the service was efficient and attentive - and the food, well, incredible. Given its location you might think its another tourist trap - but its far from it, great cooked food at reasonable prices.

We went on a Thursday lunchtime before visiting the British Museum, for which it's really well placed. So location very handy. The food was average, a bit bland which was unexpected, but reasonably cooked. The service was extremely slow - only got served when physically waving for attention and at the end had to go up to the till to encourage them to take payment so we could leave. The restaurant was about half full, so can't imagine what it'd be like at busier times. Wouldn't rush to go back.

Lovely tasty food, nice staff and a nice atmosphere - no complaints. Went early dinner so not too busy sat a while and enjoyed watching world go by outside.

We hadn't been to this Tas branch (Bloomsbury) for several years and it was great. Excellent food and service and good value, even when selecting a la carte, not a fixed menu. Definitely recommended - especially for such a good location!

The food was delicious, we tryed the famous and traditional English Fish & Chips, and the dessert Baklava was unbelievable! Good atmosphere, staff so polite, perfect localization.

We booked this restaurant for pre theatre dinner. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the food was so tasty and if it wasn’t for a constantly crying baby we would have stayed longer. The decor was bright and fresh and it had a lively atmosphere, even at an early time. Would love to go back.

My wife is highly allergic to paprika/bell peppers. Waiter assured us the seafood pasta did not contain paprika/peppers when ordering and when the dish was served. It did and she passed out when on way to the toilet. Other guests helped her. The manager was very concerned when he found out, but the waiter was totally indifferent. A very bad experience. No allergy cards unlike other restaurant chains.

I know it’s located in central London and would expect to pay a premium but.. we found the food to be very ordinary bordering on poor, portions we’re certainly not generous and price was top end. £20+ for a mixed grill that contained 6 thumb sizes pieces of dry meat and a tea cup portion of plain couscous. We were a party of seven celebrating a birthday and we’ll spent in excess of £250, but not one of us felt we’d had a decent meal. Will not be going back anytime soon. A bit of a letdown really.

Steps from the British Museum, I was lucky to stumble upon this Turkish restaurant enroute to another restaurant. I’m glad I made the detour. The food is super fresh and the food is served promptly. Staff are friendly. There are loads of vegetarian options. You can choose mezzes and mains from the menu for lunch specials. I’ll be back!

Indifferent staff, best exemplified on our way out, when we said “thank you” to the manager, who never even looked up, let alone respond. We asked for our toddlers food to be brought out first. It came last. We asked for starters for my wife and a main for me, all to be brought out at the same time, but they came out staggered. Each of us essentially ate separately. Their clientele are mainly tourists so they are not looking for repeat business and therefore don’t care.

Les produits manquent de soleil , les pâtes sont trop cuites, les tomates n’ont pas de goût ... bref ce n’est pas une adresse inoubliable , l’avantage est l’emplacement du restaurant , un peu en retrait de Borough Market, qui permet d’échapper à la foule . Cuando fuimos a Grecia, probamos un delicioso plato llamado Hunkar Begendi. Es un estofado de cordero con puré de berenjena. Esta fue la razón principal por la que elegimos el restaurante. Así que lo pedimos (muy bueno) y el menú Ekin (2 comienzos + 1 plato principal + 1 bebida). Elegimos comenzar con Enginar (no está mal) y Borek (muy bien). El plato principal era albóndigas de cordero con salsa de tomate (no está mal), con pan típico turco. Terminamos bastante llenos, así que no comimos ningún postre. El precio para todos fue de 44 libras más o menos.

I was in a wheelchair for this visit. The staff couldn't have been more helpful in accommodating us, and even allowed us to use the goods lift to get down to the basement toilets. The service continued to be excellent, except in the prompt delivery of water, but many restaurants fall down on this. We had four starters and two mains from a set menu with multiple choices. My wife had a good prawn dish but my kofte main was a bit bland, as were the starters, including an artichoke dish which had the texture of asparagus but virtually no artichoke flavour. I might have been a bit more positive about Tas but for the fact that Green Lanes Haringey has many Turkish restaurants offering higher quality and quantity for a lower price. For that reason I wouldn't go back, though the restaurant was pretty full so clearly many like it.

Order chicken thighs on skewers - it’s okay and tasty but a little little though. Could be more generous since it’s about £14 for 7-8 small pieces of chicken thighs. Ordered a chicken casserole that’s not nice - it’s like chicken soaked in tomato sauce. The mixes grills are okay and tasty but we didn’t like the bread in it. Service was awful though handling of cutlery and plates were rough.

Hadn’t booked this venue but were easily accommodated. Staff were friendly and efficient asking if we needed anything explaining on the menu. Food was excellent, I had a specialty casserole, COBAN KAVURMA, Herbed lamb with tomatoes, onions, mushrooms and peppers. The lamb melted in the mouth and the sauce was delicious. Good options for the less adventurous, as my children had chicken kebabs and salmon pasta which they both devoured. Excellent homemade baklava to finish and Turkish delight with the bill. Fantastic! Would highly recommend for quality and service.

I was in London for a whirlwind 20 hours when meeting up with my family over the holidays. After a visit to the British Museum, we headed to Tas and were happily surprised. The food was absolutely excellent, fresh, large, and affordable. Service was good, the waitress thought I had ordered two appetizers instead of one but offered the second free of charge. Even though I was exhausted, it was a great place to recharge and is in a nice area. It was my family's favorite meal in London!

Some friends arranged a lunch here for a catch up during a visit that I was making to London. The food was standard Turkish but well done and also well priced. We had a lovely time until it came to paying the bill which was done with cash. The waiter refused to accept an old style £10 note. One of my friends tried to explain that any bank would take the note but he refused none the less. She asked to see the manager who repeated the same refusal talking over the top of her when she tried again to explain that any bank would take the note. At no stage did my friend get angry or raise her voice but eventually she told him that the note was part of the £11 service charge that had been automatically added to the bill at which stage he picked it up and threw it across the table then stalked off. The bill was paid minus the service charge and a few coins returned in the folder. We then walked outside stopping for a few minutes to finish chatting and say goodbye. Suddenly the manager coming hurtling out the door and forced the remaining coins on my friend shouting who knows what as he did so. We were stunned and speechless given that our group was standing in a public place even if still adjacent to the restaurant. I travel very frequently to multiple countries but this is by far the most bizarre restaurant experience I have ever had. As a final note, I changed the errant £10 note at an HSBC branch a few minutes later on the way to the tube station.

We came with a group of people including a chef who had lived in Turkey. The service was excellent, the food delicious, and we could not have had a better time. We had a wide variety of dishes and all were excellent. The staff were great - I'll be back!

Tas Bloomsbury is very good value for money! Six of us ate well here, with good house wine, for £130. Great bread, tzatziki and olives to start, all complimentary, and a good menu choice. Pleasant, relaxed atmosphere and very helpful staff. Between us we ate moussaka, vegetarian moussaka, and a range of grilled meat dishes. All were good quality and well presented

Visiting London on a budget, so wanted an affordable meal on a miserable wet night. For £21.95,we had 2 mezes each, which were just right and enjoyed by my sister-in-law who was nervously eating something new, a very filling tasty main of couscous, salad and lamb koftas, also a glass of house wine, there was FREE(in London!!!!) olives, hummus and huge amounts of fresh bread, the service was great, unobstrusive but there when you wanted it, it was busy all the time we were there, i would definitely visit here again should I be back in London.

Der Service war sehr zuvorkommend und freundlich Wir hatten eine Vorspeise, einen Hauptgang sowie einen Nachtisch. Alles war sehr gut und lecker. Ich kann dieses Restaurant nur empfehlen! It's got some good solid Middle Eastern food, in an area that is indeed a bit rubbish for food. I was not especially fond of the abrupt and amateur service, and it's quite costly for essentially cheap food, but it's popular and I admit they do their thing pretty well.

Fair food, fair service. Cannot say it is great, however. For example, a waiter accidentally broke a drinking glass but left small pieces of glass fragments on the ground without cleaning them up.

In the culinary desert that is Great Russell street, Tas stands out as a proper restaurant rather than a cafe. Service is friendly and efficient, nice tablecloths and proper napkins.

Nothing special about the Turkish food offered here - you can find better food at other providers especially in Harringey

Voilà plusieurs années que nous avions dans l'idée d'aller manger dans ce restaurant mais jusqu'à présent l'opportunité ne s'était pas présentée. Voilà qui est fait et nous ne sommes pas déçus.
