Hicce in Camden

Hands down my favourite spot in London, gutted its closed now! Would always chose the kitchen bar seat so you can watch the chefs at work, get the odd taster direct from the kitchen. Great food, great service, will be keeping an eye out for Pips next adventure in London.

I booked this restaurant, sending a specific message about noise. We are all older people and hard of hearing, with one person having MS which is greatly aggravated by noise, so it was essential that we have quiet table. The woman who greeted us had read the message and placed us in the quietest spot away from the speaker. The food and service were outstanding, but after about an hour, the noise was cranked up to rock concert level which exacerbated a migraine I had and which made my friend with MS feel quite ill. I called over what I thought was the waiter and said we were feeling quite ill from the noise and could he turn it down to the previous level. He sneered at me in a most unpleasant way and said, "This isn't a library, love." Talk about customer service! I was astounded and said we would leave immediately without finishing our meal, which we did. The front of house apologised and said I had been speaking to the owner. I am at a loss for words. Why does he think that people trying to enjoy an expensive meal together want to compete with horrible loud music? My ears are still ringing and I still have a migraine the following day. I do not recommend going to this place unless you want to be blasted out of your seat by extremely loud music and be unable to talk to the people at your own table. I really don't get it. Why doesn't someone tell him that he is wrong?

The place is lovely and the food is really nice. Good vegetarian options. The obligation to have the set menu was a shame though: it was more than twice as much food as I could imagine and I would have preferred to eat and spend a lot less for a midweek dinner.

Booked Hicce for a celebration. What a shame. Longest time I have ever waited for drinks at a restaurant. We were sat at a table next to a large group who proceeded to stand with their drinks leaning on our table. We had to ask a server to kindly ask them to stop using our table and chairs as a rest for their bottoms. When the food finally arrived it was delicious, thank goodness. If not for the overly long wait for drinks, overcrowding of our space and lack of service to our table it would have been a lovely night.

This is such a special place - the food is amazing - such creative flavour combinations that I haven’t had anywhere else. The service is super friendly and you are made to feel very welcome, a really great atmosphere. We chose Hicce for a very special celebration and they went out of their way to help us mark the occasion (Thankyou for the margaritas(!) they were delicious!)

I visited this lovely place today for the first time, and I was very impressed with the fantastic service as well as the lovely choice on the menu. It was almost too difficult to choose so we picked a few sharing plates and each one was better than the last. I will definitely be returning.

We ate here with friends, the food was excellent, vibe was really good but the service was outstanding. Every member of staff we engaged with was friendly, polite and professional. I’d thoroughly recommend it, and I’ll definitely go back.

The food looked delicious and the location is good albeit you have plenty of restaurants to choose from . We chose to sit outside and a waitress eventually came to our table . She was uninterested and not helpful in any shape or form . So we told her to forget it and we went elsewhere . Waiting on tables is hard work and probably not that well paid but if you don’t want to do it find another job . As I say food looked great but it’s also great in lots of other restaurants in this area

Got a lovely table inside for my son's birthday; we're all vegetarian and I am a coeliac to add joy to eating out. Hicce was a treat. Homemade gluten free bread (hurrah!) and a great selection of veggie starters which came on a board to share. We had six starter plates between us alongside bread and it was perfect even with my teenage boy who has hollow legs. The flavours were fabulous, especially the mushroom terrine. For mains we ordered three large plates and three sides between us - the favourite dish was the miso buttered potatoes. It's a place to come and savour the flavours - we came away with that nice feeling of having had just enough rather than being stuffed full, I prefer that as hate waste and overeating but if you like big plates of food may not be your kind of thing. It's not cheap so more of a special treat but we'd definitely go again. And the waiters were really thoughtful in advising on what to try - and how much to order and they got it spot on.

Lucky to get a walk in at this restaurant my friend fancied. Fantastic outside seating in the sun with a bottle of rosé. Great advice from the friendly waitress re the menu which we had had a look at before. Ordered 3 small plate dishes each, a couple of sides, bread and an accompaniment. Each was delicious and there was plenty of food for two. We definitely got our 5 a day. Not cheap, but certainly 5 stars from me, despite a long wait for coffee.

A few of us wanted a pre-dinner drink on Saturday evening, the upstairs restaurant had plenty of empty tables but the hostess wanted to keep them solely for diners and sent us to the patio downstairs. There were a few tables available and so we sat down near the door. There was just one server for too many tables. Despite walking past us twice, us saying hello each time, the server couldn’t manage to give us any greeting or even make eye contact and acknowledge that we were waiting to order. Our custom and money was clearly not wanted so we left to find a place that actually wanted to sell us a round of drinks. I definitely won’t be returning.

What a find!!! From the moment we arrived we were well looked after by all the staff. Fantastic location but more importantly the food was amazing. We will certainly be returning.

Lunch for a group of 5 friends. Staff were very accommodating as we arrived unexpectedly early and managed to be seated inside.
