Tarvie in Highland

This was a lovely little stop for a quick repast on the way to Assynt. Food was good and was prepared on site, the coffee was lovely and the banter with the staff was excellent. This is not just any roadside cafe this is Tarves Cafe ----- with apologies to M&S marketeers!!!

Great little cafe in the middle of nowhere but close to Rogie Falls. Freshly cooked food, filled us both up. Home made cakes and very reasonably priced coffee .

Plenty of parking, great range of food and drinks, good facilities and a gift shop. Just what was needed and such a friendly welcome thanks you!

Stoped here for a quick snack and the choice of baps was great with wide variety of fillings. Absolutely worth a visit. Every one of us loved every single bite.

Food lovely shame waitress with attitude let it down i asked which drink was which because didn't hear her first time she sarcastically pointed to board saying hot chocolate was one with cream as stated then shook her her head then uttered under her breathe for f***s sake I saw and heard this not happy at all she was a disgrace to the really nice place this girl needs a lesson in customer service we will not return shame because burger was really nice

I stumbled upon this charming cafe after a visit to Rothie Falls and decided to try their breakfast box, which turned out to be incredibly delicious. The cafe was impeccably clean, and the outdoor benches provided a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the meal. However, I must admit that the service left much to be desired. The young lady taking our order displayed quite a bit of impatience, with eye-rolling, tutting, and even whispering amongst her colleagues, which left a rather unpleasant impression. My partner is diligently following the Keto diet, as recommended by his doctor, and he politely inquired about the possibility of customizing the breakfast options to suit his dietary requirements. Regrettably, it seemed like an unreasonable request to our server, and when she asked whether he preferred Lorna or link sausage, his simple inquiry regarding the difference was met with further attitude. Up until this point, our experiences in Scotland had been marked by the warmth and friendliness of its people, so this encounter was quite unexpected. Despite the initial hiccup in service at the cafe near Rothie Falls, we continued our journey and made a delightful stop at the excellent Cocoa Mountain cafe. Here, all our previous concerns were swiftly redeemed by the friendly and pleasant young lady who served us. It just goes to show that even after a rough start, Scotland's hospitality can always shine through. Onward we go with renewed spirits!

Excellent vegan hotdogs. Friendly staff . Will def stop there again!! No seating but we were happy to eat in the car.

Do not buy black hats. I have recently drove past and purchased a coffee cake and a black baseball hat with a pink Highland cow. After only three hours of driving the hat was sunbleached. I would have returned for a refund but I was already over one hundred miles away. Apart from that, the visit was great.

Unplanned pitsop on way from Loch Carron to Edinburgh. What an amazing find. Fantastic filter coffee (possibly the best filter I’ve ever had), breakfast rolls so large we didn’t need lunch and cakes and try baked to die for. The very friendly staff and family atmosphere rounded the whole occasion off. Well done to everyone at Tarvies, what a wonderful place. Would go out my way to go back.

This is a great place to stop for basic,tasty food and drinks.There are picnic tables for outdoor,or standing tables indoors.There is also a good gift shop ( and clean toilet)

We were 4 very wet (soaked!), cyclists and this wee cafe was our perfect pit-stop. We had 4 large cups of fabulous lentil soup and left fully revived for our onward journey. There was a lovely gift shop but sadly we couldn’t take advantage of it as we were carrying heavy panniers & had no room! Thank you!

Stopped on the way along the NC500. Decided to grab the Mac and cheese burger, it was massive, not to mention the mountain of chips. For the price it was well worth choosing. Delicious! The gift ship section was clean, tidy and loads of different branded items such as hoodies, tshirts and hats alongside other Scottish themed gifts. The guys inside were very friendly and welcoming, worth the stop!

We stopped here on our journey from Ullapool to Edinburgh. The owner was very friendly and welcoming. We had a gingerbread oat milk latte, standard latte & a delicious piece of coffee cake. Would definitely recommend this place!

Came as a stop on a journey. Food was hearty but don’t expect anything glamorous. This is just good honest grub with no shabang that fills you up and sends you on your way. Seating was a little ragged and all over the place but all in all, sound.

Have stopped here before and it's always quite popular. There's plenty parking and some picnic tables. We usually just have take-away gluten free bacon sandwiches and coffee. Always good. When we were there they were only doing take-aways.

I used this place a lot when on holiday nearby as we passed it most days.Have tried the sandwiches, rolls, coffee, tea, chips and pies. They were all good.Staff are friendly and prices are reasonable. Its right on the main road so you can't miss it and there is plenty of parking available.There are toilets there but they could do with redecoration.

Back after two years, the Tarvie is still a great place to stop on the road to Ullapool, for a no frills, good food, either as a take-away or in the small sit-in place. Once again not disappointed!

Lots on offer on menu. Burgers various sizes. Portions good sized. Food freshly cooked, so might have to wait for a little. This is a lorry cafe but service from staff is efficient and friendly. Kids are treated well. Some outside seating is provided. If doing the 500 this is where to eat. Not open in evening.

We stopped off here on our way back to Inverness, primarily to use the toilet but decided to have a drink, this cafe is a roadside cafe and I was surprised at the variety of things they did. I am a Coeliac and they catered for Gluten free, having GF Bread and cakes, they also understood about cross contamination. I had a coffee and the carrot cake and both the coffee and cake was excellent. Well worth a stop here, it is just past Rogie Falls

Visited today with a little trepidation having read the reviews, it was great though. There’s plenty of variety for the kids, and the burgers are amazing and massive portions. It’s not the place to go for healthy food but it was good value, tasty, quick and nicely presented.

I am a regular to Tarvies, love their filled rolls and family members have the different burgers, which they say is the best they have ever had, I like the chips too. I would also recommend the soup which is homemade and delicious. Perfect stop for me cannot find any fault with this place.

A great place to stop at the side of the road with plenty parking. A very good menu with pleasant service. Well priced and served quickly which is great is you are travelling. Worth a stop.

Lovely staff and knowledgeable on the area. Very extensive burger menu! The burger was very greasy but tasty... Ful protection and wipes needed after. Has a panini as well and that was very good. Happy to have found a new place and all cooked fresh.

Stopped off here for lunch while up climbing Ben Wvyis and throughly enjoyed the fish n chips, far exceeded my expectations of a cafe on a busy road not one to be missed, the lady was lovely and gave me plenty of time to choose from the very extensive menu, she pointed out to me that they had no coleslaw but offered bread & butter in it's place which l thought was very kind, l was missing breakfast at my b&b; the next morning and contemplated going here for breakfast but it meant l would have been going in the totally opposite way, my only disappointment was l had found it the previous day or l would have been their best customer for 3 days, well done & hope l visit again

We try to stop at this cafe whenever we travel north. I love the bacon rolls in particular. My son with allergies has no problem with their chips and bacon. The fish and chips are great. Friendly service and a great setting. Highly recommend!

Pull into Tarvies last Sunday morning for a wee pick me up. Short stay but well refreshed after. Very good value for money and an ideal truck or stop with the kids. Seating inside and out. Doug

I use here all the time when doing the NC500 (14 times now) and it’s always great food. Aim for it on the way and add it as a “must do” on the 500. My personal choice is a Haggis Roll and a big cup of tea. But they do a vast range of great food. Also, the shortbread is to die for. And buy a few wee bags of Scottish tablet too, to keep you going on the way north.

Having left Lossiemouth and over an hour and a half later had no breakfast we were not expecting to see too much on the road up to Kylsku in January. Imagine our surprise when we came upon this cracking little cafe on the side of the road, masses of parking and a take out window.

We happened upon this roadside delight on our way up to Orkney. I ordered the St. George Burger - it was incredible - two patties with a egg on top. It was AWESOME! and very cheap. We truly felt lucky to happen on this place. The owners were pleasant and helpful. Highly recommended!

Primera vez parada para nosotros cuatro. Rápidamente nos sirve comidas recién hechas en el área pequeña pero limpia sentado a la derecha. Cada uno estaba bien lleno y grasientos bien vale la pena el 5 libras. 50. La sopa de lentejas al bowl fue hasta el borde, y venía con un rollo y mantequilla para menos de 3 libras. Teteras grandes y agua caliente ilimitada en el lateral.

Una breve parada para rellenar el filtro de café carbohidratos era bastante buena y el Limón Tarta Llovizna fueron un lujo. No es la mejor, pero es una cafetería de carretera a ser tajantes, pero está bien ubicado y el personal es muy agradable.

Estuvimos aquí en la carretera a Carran Strath, ya que estábamos trabajando en el ferrocarril. Tenía un par de panecillos y bacon con patatas, que eran un bollo absolutamente deliciosos precios poquito, pero vale la pena y lo recomiendo a cualquiera que necesite un bocado en la carretera para parar y tomar un aperitivo.

Tarvie is one of those on the way to someplace else spots. Nothing exceptional beyond the fact that is is well located for when you need a bottle of water, a coffee, and/or the toilet.Also a good spot to stretch your legs.

I had a quick meal here whilst travelling. Food was good, portions were large and I had the best salted caramel latte ever! Lovely ladies in the canteen and cafe which made everything taste better.

This is a well located casual stop on the main road from Ullapool to Inverness. The cafe is extremely casual but serves a good range of fast food items including home made soup, fish and chips, veggie burgers, breakfasts, others mains and puds. We just stopped for drinks and cakes and were not disappointed. The cafe was warm and has toilet facilities plus ample parking.

We stop here quite often on the way down to Inverness for a hot roll, coffee and a bit of cake before we hit the town. The food is great, cooked to order and the new coffee machine is brilliant. If you have room try the coffee cake or the chocolate orange cake!See you next time we're passing

Very convenient place to stop on the long haul from Inverness westwards. Handy parking, reasonable food and tea. Toilets OK, too. It's not the best, but it is convenient and they are very friendly indeed. We were served at the outdoor hatch and stood outside, but I think there is also a cafe to go and sit in. We will call again and try the food, which looked OK too.

I enjoy stopping at Tarvie for breakfast now and then. Nothing fancy, but good value grub and friendly service. Lovely place to eat outdoors if the weather and midgies permit. Definitely recommended. I must come for lunch sometime...

Ok, so I have recently passing here a lot, every time spotting more and more reasons to stop.On main road to the west, it's at the edge of the last real built up areas of Dingwall and Inverness.Pull in for a bacon roll and a coffee, like I did, and find ample parking, a picnic area - two types of toilet - male and female! Sit indoors - there's full meals to be had to eat in, or indeed takeaway.Brand new coffee machine serves great coffee and the staff are cheery and welcoming.If you are travelling North Coast 500 clockwise a great place to stop before the big scenery starts!

Passed here the other day, but must admit, just didn't fancy the look of it. Did stop, have a look at the menu, but didn't buy anything. Hunger got the better of me today, and couldn't decide if to sit in or get a takeaway. Went in cafe, but no one in, took a pic and come out. Went to counter and chap said he had just nipped in cafe, as I left. Lots of interesting, and slightly scary stuff on the menu. Think there was a 'death by hotdog' or some such like.Ordered a bacon roll, and it was in my hand in less than 3 mins - now that's a proper fast food takeaway. They only have white rolls, but thankfully it was a really light roll, and very airy (not heavy and claggy, light many white rolls). Tons of crispy bacon on it, and it looked and tasted delish ! An absolute BARGAIN at £2.10. Three other people there also ordering bacon rolls.Lovely chap serving, plenty of parking, and wonderful food. I will certainly be back, probably to try their fish and chips, which are very reasonably priced. Thoroughly recommended !

We went here after hearing good reviews from friends and we weren't disappointed. The menu choice for burgers was unbelievable and they did not disappoint. Well worth a visit if you are out that way. Staff are also very friendly and service is great.

A great snack bar cum café on the A835. Is now run with enthusiasm by the second generation of the family and they serve good food at very reasonable prices.

We were delighted to see that Tarvie roadside café was still there (we're sure its been there for over 30 years!) and the crispy bacon rolls and tea were as good as ever. It's an excellent stop with homemade soup and cakes, burgers and breakfast rolls. Very friendly service and a wee café to sit inside on a wet day. Can thoroughly recommend!!

Have been going to the Tarvie take away for years. Love their bacon rolls, bacon cooked crispy and good strong tea. It's got a big menu for a wee stop, always busy and staff always friendly.

i have not sat inside the cafe,just take away's on route however always exellent tea a good selection of prepared on order hot food suitable for all tastes

Great little cafe I stumbled across on a tour of the Highlands.Has a small inside sit down area and an outside bar type service area.Food was really nice and excellent value for money.Plenty of off road parking, biker friendly.Well worth taking a break and calling in.
