Lovely meal. Local produce. The service was a little slow but it was very busy. Good atmosphere best to book for an evening meal. Walked from the car park at the top only to find we could have brought the car down to outside the restaurant, it was quite dark by the time we left. Looking forward to my next visit.

Food delicious - leek and potato soup, roast pork with broccoli and very tasty carrots, which are both often overcooked in pub lunches. Puddings (STP and brownie) both fab. Excellent value. Very friendly atmosphere in a wonderful location beside beautiful Tarr steps. Only mild blight was the seemingly inexperienced waiting staff.

Food and staff good but allowed far too many dogs into it's small restaurant. It was a wet day and the whole restaurant had the smell of wet dog. The 8 dogs were alsatians and collies accompanying two groups of people. Dogs had their noses up to the tables and the owners were petting the dogs then putting their hands on the tables. There were more dogs than people in the restaurant when we left. It was inconsiderate of the two owners to expect to take a group of four dogs each and it was negligent of the owner to allow the opportunity in the first place. Absolutely awful and I shall never return.

Revolting Sunday roast topped off with a hair in my Yorkshire pudding followed by rude member of staff. Beautiful pub in wonderful setting. Good kids food and nice drink. However the beef roast dinner was very disappointing. I was willing to overlook the truly suboptimal roast dinner of; undercooked beef, not-at-all-crispy- roast potatoes, dull vegetables and bizarre and disgusting creamy in taste, texture and colour gravy but on finding a (suspiciously short and curly) hair woven into the interior batter of my Yorkshire pudding was a bridge too far. Discreetly I complained, was offered another roast, decided on a child’s portion. Then decided in actual fact that I felt sick at the thought of eating more hairy and creamy gravy bad food. Another member swiftly and efficiently gave me the refund of £14.50. However when I came back into the bar to use the ladies I walked into the sounds of original staff member giving me a slagging off to another staff member behind the bar. Hence the review. Rude. Revolting food. Should be the best roast dinner ever considering the location.

On July 19th the sun was shining so we decided to visit Tarr Steps. Having made most of the descent from the carpark, we couldn't help but bump into this hotel & restaurant, so decided to have lunch before exploring the steps and the river Barle surroundings. The pub was already full, so we sat outside having ordered a couple of baguettes – one with bacon, brie & cranberry, the other with rump steak, fried onions & vine tomato, plus a side order of fries to share. The quality of the fillings was superb and plentiful, cooked to perfection. The fries were hot & crisp. Service was good and staff were friendly and helpful. The setting was a delight with small birds hopping around in and out of a hedge, and the soothing murmur of the river below completed the idyllic setting.

Had gone to investigate Tarr Steps and had the added bonus of finding this gem. Being the weekend and Sun the place was v busy, so a bit of a wait to order but actually v prompt service after that. Had the Sun Roast- Beef, for the price was really v good and a good size helping, good beer selection and then the added bonus of live music which was a fine way to relax in the afternoon sunshine. I imagine later in the Summer it will get busier and potentially difficult to find seating / order, dropping in as I did but today all my stars aligned!

We visited Tarr Farm Inn on Monday 4th September with a group of friends. (all from Kent) We were on holiday and had been here before. There were 5 of us in the group and 3 had already placed their orders, we were next in line to place our order but were then told that the kitchen was closed and holding orders for the next 20 minutes. We explained that we were with the people in front of us in the queue but were told we couldnt place our order yet. All we wanted were baguettes. Subsequently half our party received and ate their food while we sat and watched. After airing our views to the young gentleman who served the food, he went back and asked if we could place our order yet. Finally, after the rest of our party had finished their food, we were able to order ours, even though by that time, we were all ready to leave for the day. Although the food was tasty, we felt this treatment of us was a little unnecessary letting only half of our party eat at one time.

Staying nearby we had this restaurant recommended for dinner. They offer food from two menus a bar menu in their main bars, outside if weather permits and a separate menu in their restaurant area. We booked the restaurant area, and I would recommend booking if you can as the whole venue was busy and that on a Tuesday night. I suspect a number of the dinners where staying overnight….at least judging by their alcohol intake I hoped so! The food was excellent in terms of quality, portion size and presentation. An evening helped along by an efficient and friendly serving team. We had three courses, all plates where returned empty. The restaurant menu was much the same as the one on line, so they are clearly focusing on a few well prepared dishes. An extensive wine list was available…sadly we were driving. The food merited a five star rating but I’ve reduced this down as the restaurant had a very dated feel to it…I suspect they want it that way, but I felt it could do with a little upgrade.

Excellent spot for lunch when our walking. We were on a circular walk from Dulverton and got to Tarr Steps at lunchtime. The setting is great, just a few paces from the clapper bridge. We had to sit inside as outside was busy but that was no hardship - what a quaint pub. We stopped for an afternoon tea and were not disappointed - unfortunately though our eyes were bigger than our bellies and two scones each was too much - they were delicious but massive. The staff were friendly and mask wearing, they had a one way system in place inside too. We are just disappointed we found this place at the end of our holiday so we couldn't revisit for an evening meal as I am sure we'd have been more than impressed.

We had booked into Tarr Farm for two nights which meant being able to savour a meal in the restaurant each evening. Besides the main menu there was also a Special" menu consisting of a starter and main dish. The restaurant looked very attractive and each table had a vase of lowers. The food was well cooked and enjoyable. Breakfast on our first morning was very efficient, but the second morning we had sat at a table for 15 minutes waiting to be served but then asked if we would move asthe table was laid for dinner! We of course hadn't noticed this at all. When we were finally served, the guy seemed somewhat haphazard and couldn't seem to understand that I wanted my toast either with or after my cooked breakfast, and certainly not with my yoghurt and fruit compote! The beauty too with staying at the Inn, is that it is so close to the famous Tarr Steps. The Inn is open all day for food and snacks and there is also a bar open for food in the evenings.

I was on my own but I was soon joined by butterflies, a robin, a blackbird, sparrows and chaffinches, including one that tried to get into the sugar bowl. We stopped here after a walk for a cream tea. 2 adults a teen and a toddler. The bar staff were friendly and sorted a seat at a busy time. We ordered a few things including a cream tea for 2. The scones were decent, but the amount of jam and cream was ridiculous - small ramekins that most places would give for 1 person were given for 2 to share. The pot of tea was also a single person pot but for 2. The jam was ok but the clotted cream runny. The other bits (a pud and a tea cake) were decent but we left feeling short changed with literally a half measure of tea and trimmings.

I must say, the quality of the mussels was terrific, but I certainly wouldn't drive the forty minutes taken to get there again. VERY DISAPPOINTING SERVICE. The waitress was not familiar with the ingredients on menu and had to refer several requests for no cream in the food back. Resultant substitution of pesto certainly didn't work with what otherwise was a nice John Dory. Spoilt that meal. No spoon to enjoy the broth in the mussels bowl resulted in a chase around the place to try and get some attention, even though the place was more than half empty. No care and attention. Whilst starters and main were appealing, the menu fell flat on deserts. Same old same old. Cheeseboard worth a try though. Would have liked a good local cider but only had ice cold bubbly stuff. The evening then failed at the last fence. Bill delivered in an AMEX folder but they don't take AMEX cards! We thought that was really taking the biscuit, and the price was not great, so definitely no tip. In summary, it was far too expensive for the poor service. Would not go again.

The location is lovely but watch out for wasps, this was a put off, we had scones and drink which was ok, price was about right for what we had.

It is always nice when expectations are exceeded, and our lunchtime sandwiches were amazing. Watch out for the little stools on the terrace - I went flying! (or maybe it was the half of cider that did it!)

Stopped by here after the Taw Steps. Has great views and is really pleasant surroundings. Serves a range of drinks and food, including great cream teas. Only problem is the amount of wasps if you eat outside although I am sure this must be due to the really hot weather, the amount of them that are being bought and hence the level of jam aroma. Best bet is to move inside!

I took old friends here because in the past I have enjoyed such glorious meals. Not so this time. I was uninspired by the menu but settled on a burger (after expecting to see lots of seafood as before). The roll was rock hard - completely impenetrable, the bacon was barely cooked, the burger was something I could buy in the supermarket and the chips were dry and bland. I wasn’t offered any sauces so had to go in hunt of some mayonnaise and we had to ask several times for more drinks and to make a payment.

A lovely cream tea, yes I know I've done it the Cornish way, apologies. I need some more practice. The Inn was very busy on a beautiful sunny day. Amazing surroundings, reasonably priced food!

Been here a few times now...It is a lovely pub with great views of the surrounding countryside. Food and local booze is good , although I have always found them a bit on the pricey, side . Staff are pleasant. .

My husband and I ate here 3 times in one week whilst staying nearby recently. Everything about this place is amazing. The food is some of the best I’ve eaten. The location is simply stunning and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. Dogs are welcome too. We loved it so much we’re going to book a stay there for a few days next year

It is always an enjoyable experience coming to No Limits in Newton Abbot (Devon). I have food allergies and they have a fabulous menu that can cater for so many whether that be allergies, coeliacs or vegan. I really like their ‘pay it forward’ scheme which helps provide food and drinks for people who are having a difficult time. Most importantly, it is brilliant that they are providing opportunities for people with various needs and it’s a pleasure to be served by such enthusiastic and happy staff :-)

If you go to Bovey Tracey a visit to Old cottage tea shop is a must. What an absolutely delightful tea room. Old fashioned charm at its best. Good old fashioned menu. It's like having lunch at Grandma's. An absolute must visit.

A lovely pub with friendly staff and good food, served swiftly and efficiently. We had been on a long uphill walk to get there, and were very glad to be able to sit at a window table and look at the wonderful view. Will definitely return when we are in the area again. There was a huge log fire in the other room which would be great to sit near on a cold winter day.
