Really nice food the woman was really nice good value

Service with smile has never lacked so much!!! Possibly the worst, grumpiest, unfriendly atmosphere I have ever experienced in such a short space of time ordering some food. Food was great and zero complaints on that front but won’t return purely because I felt like I had entered their kitchen at home and demanded they cook me fish and chips. Please try smiling and not making people feel akward!! Very bad customer service all round! (Visited Friday night 6pm ish for your reference)

I've heard good things about this place but was very disappointed. The portions were small, both the chips and the curry sauce, the latter sold in a pot around half the size of 'standard' curry pots in chip shops. The sausages were okay but the chips were a tad 'soggy'. I've now tried every chippie in Teignmouth over the past two to three years - the rest are all better than this one. However I have heard others say good things and there's normally a queue so it can't be all bad, although my partner and I will be going elsewhere in future.

A good portion of both fish and chips, exceptional batter, and very tasty chips. Fast efficient and friendly service even though they were busy. Well done all, we will return soon.

I went in looking forward to some lovely fish in chips, but goodness me was I wrong. I walked in and hear shouting from the workers. While waiting in the queue a man said 3 fishes left and a lady saw a lovely man pull up and then said “make that 1 fish left” absolutely appalling if you ask me the man seemed upset and attacked. And when he went to order a jumbo battered sausage to feel better and there wasn’t any left. Then while waiting a lady pulled up and was given priority in the queue and took all the food. I had a horrible experience and staff came off as mean and upset me. I’m hoping if I go again it will be better but I guess not for now.i ordered my food at 5 and didn’t finish until 8 due to gagging with every mouthful. Even the dog spat it out which says something. I hope in the future the staff and food can warm up a bit but I know I won’t be coming back

I can't fault the staff and the atmosphere. I found them to be very friendly and chatty. However the found my meal very disappointing. The batter on the fish was very thick and soggy with no taste. The chips were mushy. Would I return? Honestly no. It is the worst fish and chips I've had in a long time.

Excellent chips which hardly need salt. Plaice was the best I've had for years. Highly recommended.

I am 44 years old and this was the best fish and chips I’ve ever had!

Good quality fish and chips as usual

We had 2 large cod (we thought more medium than large), mushy peas and 1 large chips. The chips were more a small to medium portion compared to other chip shops. The chips were ok, the fish was tasty, the batter a tad greasy but the mushy peas were very hot and tasty. We didn’t think this was value for money especially compared to other fish & chip shops in Teignmouth.

Expensive for a plate of crispy batter and dry cod ,the batter made it look good until you tried to find the fish complained and the deducted the cost of the cup of tea then added a service charge cheeky for a fish and chip shop. Won't go back.

i have lived in Teignmouth for 22 years and use this chip shop from the start however the quality and quantity has now dropped so low that i rate it as the worst chip shop in teignmouth fish batter soggy and under cooked, unedible battered sausage over cooked and chips undercooked with a lot of eyes , quantity wise a large portion of chips is about the size of standard portion anywhere else in teignmouth . overpriced, unwelcoming service, man behind counter very rude and looks like he does'nt want to be there will not use again even if all the other chips shops are all closed

Great fish and chips, reasonably priced. We had the large cod which was freshly cooked, chips, saveloy and pickled onion. Staff really nice, and chatting to all their customers 👍👍

A busy Friday evening but service good. Very nice haddock and chips, the batter light and crispy. Good value as well at £8.75 compared to some others in town.

Fantastic and authentic proper fish n chips. Nearly every Saturday, hubby goes in gets our cod & chips and it’s spot on. We’ve been customer with you for over 15yrs.We made the mistake of going down the road to FM and it’s not good. Always fresh and very tasty. Regular oil changes make all the difference unlike some. Fish always fresh and tasty and light batter and the chips are always fantastic. Always a queue at weekends which is the best sign. Very friendly service. Off now for my birthday treat!

Cost a small fortune. I know fish and chips aren't cheap these days but the potions were tiny and it was poor quality food. Wont be using again.

We fancied fish and chips. Had a quick scout around and decided to go to harbour. So glad we did. The fish cod and haddock both really tasty, the batter was crisp and light. No real sign of oil at all the boxes were proof of that. Nice sized portion. Also had mushy peas. Had a chat with the owners, interesting people. Would most definitely eat there again when we cone to visit again.

Best fish and chips in Teignmouth

We ordered a large cod and large chips to share between 2 adults. The cod was very nice and a decent size however there wasn’t enough chips for one person let alone two. This was a bit disappointing.

Best chip shop in teignmouth by far

Went in for Haddock and chips twice and then sat in the carpark looking at the sea. The Haddock was freshly cooked and the chips were excellent. Definitely the best chippy in Teignmouth and Dawlish. Will definitely return.

Had 2 cod/chips yesterday lunch, was closing but still put to fresh cod into cook, brought them out to us with forks, even gave us 2 sausages for the dog. Always flavoursome, don't go a anywhere else, travel from Paignton, staff friendly & I am fussy about good food, bit of a foodie, don't hesitate.

Large queue. Large haddock and cod ordered as very limited choice. Very dry. Fish stuck to the batter. No rock. Lack of choice. Not enjoyable to eat. Overpriced. Cheesy chips! Will not be returning.

Awful soggy chips cooked in old oil as they were brown and clearly not fresh despite being bought at lunchtime! Thought of having fish but it looked soooo greasy- glad I didn’t bother. Served by a sour faced and borderline rude man - AVOID!!!

We arrived in Teignmouth fairly late so after a few drinks we decided on a fish and chip supper, The queue was long, which is a good sign. We soon got our food, and lovely it was!

Served by very ‘robotic’ lady, portions not very generous and 50p for for a soft pickled onion….

Freshly cooked fish, not greasy. Chips really good. Excellent price, cod and chips £6.50. good quality food, a must if you are visiting and want decent fish and chips by the sea.

Fantastic food I asked 3 local people there favourite place for fish and chips and they didn't disappoint

We stayed an extra day just to enjoy our favourite take away as it's now on limited hours, the meal was amazing as always, hot fresh and tasty. The staff are amazing and we can't wait to return in Summer to enjoy more fish and chips. Can't wait for more fish and chips, silly amounts of salt and chicken nuggets for the twins.

Come each week from paignton to teignmouth for a day out best fish & chip shop by far in the area, to me should have higher views on tripadvisor.

Despite covid restrictions the service was quick by efficient staff and importantly the food was freshly cooked and very tasty.

The chips here are absolutely the best around! Really cannot get better! Always perfectly cooked and well organised and fast service. Love our harbour fish bar treats!

I love the food and I love the staff, but they are extremely expensive, I prefer to only use harbour fish bar but I cant afford to that often a two kids meals and haddock and chips and large cod and chips best part of £30, also the fish only seems to come with chips, not fish on it's own, which is a big shame as I prefer fish and peas no chips. Also a big issue the fish has always been very greasy so much so I have to take home put on kitchen roll and remove batter, but that's ok I dont eat batter anyway.

Reay well organised. Took our order, we waited outside, and even though we were told there would be a wait, we didn't have to wait long at all. Paid by g pay. Food was. Ice and hot. Curry sauce was delicious.

Ordered fish n chip for 4 people. Not a great experience so disappointed with the quality. The fish and the pineapple fritters were soggy not crispy at all.

By far the best fish and chip shop around. Lovely fish and no greasy chips. The only critique i have is that maybe the large chips portion could be a little bigger. Apart from that, for as long as they are open i wont go anywhere else for chippy chips.

This family run Fish & Chips establishment provided excellent fish and chips in a brilliant location. The food was prepared at the point of order and was very fresh! The chips and fish were both delicious & piping hot. We did not have to wait for a long period of time for the food to be cooked and were able to eat our lovely dinner with a brilliant sea view. We would certainly recommend this venue when in Teignmouth.

I was thoroughly looking forward to fish and chips from an English seaside restaurant but was disappointed with an inedible piece of fish and leathery chips at prices to blanch at. Our friends found the same with their fish. 2 stars because the pineapple and pea fritters we good. But never again.

As a large family, We find it incredibly hard for Takeaways to cope with orders,, made especially hard when your Twins have Severe Autism and will only eat certain foods.The Harbour Fish bar chips are adored by one twin and the other Adores the Chicken Nuggets which he only eats from home usually.The Harbour Fish bar is by far our favourite place to eat, The food is incredible and makes our trip a Holiday.Both of the Staff are friendly and the food is awesome. The only place we will eat in Teignmouth and we have travelled from Torquay before to have a decent meal!Can't wait until 2020 to have another meal! Already looking forward to it

Best fish ever great selection of drinks.

Have used this chip shop for 25 years or so but recently it has gone seriously downhill. Firstly the staff were not friendly, giving the impression that they would rather not be there. Secondly the fish today was terrible! It had a nasty fishy taste, meaning it was old and it was also chewy. The batter was thick and uncooked - totally inedible! Good job we had the dog with us - he'll eat anything!! For this reason, we shall not be returning to Harbour Fish Bar - there are far better chip shops around!!

Very friendly service. Long opening hours. We had just arrived in Sheldon and this was the only fish and chip shop open on a Monday evening. Battered sausages cooked fresh and lovely crisp chips. Couldn't fault and wish we were local so we could come back again!!

Have to admit that I have not tried the fish so cannot comment. However I have purchased chips and indeed enjoyed them but would have enjoyed them even more had the portion size been greater. It really is a meagre serving that you get and therefore overpriced. I was only visiting Teignmouth and have to say that when I purchase chips at home they must be at least four times the size that I received here. It is a pity as they are a joy to eat but the experience is over far too quickly. Have also received far friendlier a service elsewhere.

Don't bother making a phone order you just get told "we'll cook it when you here". Not what I was expecting as it's a long winter and they need us locals. The holiday makers will soon be gone!
