This is the loveliest tea room with the friendliest staff. They were so welcoming and even offered to give my boyfriend and I a lift! Such a great place to stop for a coffee near the loch. I would love to come back here!

Although not well advertised, this small but friendly cafe is hidden just off the A82 where it turns to the right in Tarbet. Next to the Post Office with a handful of parking spaces, it's even hard to know if it's open! Once inside, the simple menu covered just what most people would want. The service was quick and our teas and coffees arrived post haste followed by hearty but simple fayre. The portions were more than generous and prices were fair. A word of caution. in the small toilet, the hot water supply is signed as "Caution - Very Hot Water". It isn't . It's scalding.

First visit but will not be our last. What a lovely little place. We had a lovely lunch today with the best cheese and ham toastie. Homemade scones and a Mars bar rice crispie cake, delicious. The most lovely welcoming staff, thank you.

Used it a lot when I lived locally, surprised at the fact that no dogs are now allowed as a large bloodhound was a permanent feature at one point, changed days , still a pleasant stop for tea buns etc .

I wish the just one month old review hadn't stated dog friendly : either change of ownership (with back dated thinking ) or the writer thinks tying the dog up outside counts as "friendly." Drove on

Enjoyed a quick lunch of homemade lentil soup which was excellent. My partner enjoyed a very tasty panini with generous filling of bacon brie and cranberry. Followed this with the most light and fluffy plain scones and a decent cup of coffee. Most definitely a surprisingly tasty lunch stop!

We passed this lovely little Tearoom turning around to grab a cuppa. It is exactly how it pictured a tearoom in Scotland. Lovely real teacups everywhere! Lovely staff. Great cup of tea and the best scones ever! Surprisingly, the teapot was metal. Disappointing. But the scones made up for it. They do sandwiches and other quick bites and that was the drawback for me....the place smelled of oil. Inside and outside. For a good half hour after we left, that was all we could smell. Oil. Otherwise, a good place to stop on the way to Oban.

We stopped off here on a circular walk from Arrochar, would have loved a cup of coffee and a cake. Looked nice inside but no dogs allowed (we had our two little dogs with us). The tables outside were stacked up so that people could use the space for parking, which meant we couldn't even sit outside with the dogs. Shame.

I really don't understand how anyone could possibly write a bad review of this place. This was our first tearoom stop on our tour of Scotland and certainly the best. First, it was adorable. We loved the decor. Second, we loved our tea service. Third, the curry chips with cheese were amazing, and the pastry we took to go had custard AND chocolate. And finally, the staff was very accomodating in taking pictures for us, and directing us to the Highland games, and we even got free tickets from a very kind gentleman. I do see that the parking could be challenging, but it is worth it.

After walking "The Cobbler" we were looking for great coffee and a good selection of cakes on our way home, unfortunately we didn't find them here. The coffee was watery of the instant variety and the hot chocolate the same, pleased to say the tea was good. We had one stale crispy cake and 3 choc biscuits - way over priced at £11. The service was efficient maybe too efficient, it was just before 3pm and even though the sign said it closed at 4pm they made it clear they wanted us to leave by flipping over the closed sign. Wish they'd told us before taking our order. The décor was tired and dated plastic patio chairs? (think 1980's time warp not the vintage look they were trying to achieve) and cleanliness could be much improved. Poor ventilation from the kitchen smells and a noisy refrigerators did nothing for the ambiance. It's a shame as it's in a great location and looks better from the outside. As I said very disappointing end to a lovely day - wouldn't stop again.

Nice little tea room with the normal selection of soup/rolls/cakes etc. Small and basic, but with a pleasant vibe. As an aside, while we were eating our lunch I also noted that the owner/waitress (not sure which) was very attentive to a group of 3 children who rode to the tearoom on their bikes to spend their pocket money on a cake - she made a point of making sure they got the cakes with the most icing/chocolate/whatever it was they each liked, and you could tell it was the highlight of the kids' day. It put a smile on my face, and theirs. :)

We were staying in the area for a long weekend and found this lovely little tearoom one sundayafternoon in the middle of January. Although a little chilly outside, there was a lovely warm welcome from the staff and a very hot radiator to keep us warm. We had a special offer of a coffee or tea plus a delicious home made scone and butter for £6.50 for 2. It was a very nice atmosphere and some local people also came in whilst we were there. The place itself is quitesmall so I guess in the busy holiday season is hard to get a seat. Maybe there is also an outdoorseating area as well in the fine weather?

We stopped here on the way back from Inveraray. We probably would have eaten a bigger meal but, despite being far away from any town, they don't accept card and we had spent our last cash that morning. It turned out there is a cash point in the neighbouring post office, but sadly we didn't spot this until after we'd left. That aside, we were offered some fresh scones that were still wamr. they were delicious and filling and, with the coffee, a very fair price. The coffee wasn't up to the quality of the scones, but it certainly did the job and we'd happily return here again.I'm surprised that a previous review said the premises needed attention? We found it very clean and, while some might think the china cups and decor a little old fashioned, we welcomed the atmosphere it provided.

I have visited the Tarbet Tearoom many times over the years and recently in June 2013. It had always been a great tearoom, offering a good selection of drinks, snacks and food. The friendly service is second to none and its a delight to eat there. This is definately a good place to stop off if your travelling up the Loch Lomond area. It's a very popular place and does get busy at times due to the small size. Don't pass it without stopping. You won't regret it.

I call it Debbie's place - you'll know it when you see it! - said several of the locals on Islay. A large group of us visiting the island had spent the morning dotted across it doing various different activities. I'd asked in the brilliant Islay Natural History Trust where locally we could grab lunch and was directed to the Bruichladdich Mini Market. The place itself is run by Debbie, her mum and her sister. It's the ort of place that is the lifeblood of islands the world over - half grocery shop, half cafe - all welcoming. Debbie's sister was in charge when a group of 15 of us rocked up unannounced. This would normally not have been a problem - plenty of outside seating - but that particular day the ferry had been cancelled, along with much of the stock for the shop and cafe. Undeterred the staff there made us feel welcome and pulled together a lunch which went down very well with all - children and adults alike. Think sandwiches and toasties with great coffee and a good choice of cold drinks. They also serve some amazing cakes - I'm told the rocky road was fab, I know the chocolate cake was! Although initially under pressure when we all turned up, the staff seated us happily and we had all eaten within about 15 minutes of arriving.

Visited to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The setting on the shore of Loch Fyne overlooking the ruin of Castle Lachlan is stunning and we were able to enjoy a bottle of fizz outside our shepherds huts where we would be spending the night. After a late afternoon stroll to the castle ruins we were ready for our dinner. The tasting menu served in the evening is locally sourced and is probably the best I have ever tasted. We chose the wine pairing which was excellent and presented beautifully. After a great nights sleep breakfast is delivered to your accommodation and this is another delight. Cannot fault this place
