Very friendly staff, lovely feel to the cafe, only had cake and coffee but both were very good. Dog friendly and lovely grounds to give the pooch a run in.

We do love this cafe and it does have a lovely peaceful vibe, hence the name, and the food is lovely although there are no meat dishes if you are a meat eater because of it being a Buddhist centre. The carrot and coriander soup is delicious and my favourite dish there. But the only problem is that because it is not a very big place inside it is simply too small to accommodate dogs as it isn't big enough to have a designated area for dogs and their owners away from customers who do not have dogs and do not want them near when eating. There is an outside area which would be better for dogs as it is bigger. We were there for lunch one day and there were 6 dogs inside which was very uncomfortable especially as I am nervous of dogs. I think consideration should be given to all customers and not just dog owners especially in such a small cafe. However, the staff are lovely and very welcoming and I hope in the future they can come to some solution that is suitable for all customers.

We love coming to this beautiful centre and cafe to enjoy a coffee and food. We also walk from here along the footpath on The old Great Northern railway towards Mickleover. The staff are lovely, very welcoming and the food/ drinks excellent. The huge conifer trees that line the entrance to the hall are worth seeing. Plenty of parking.

Visited Sat afternoon on 20th Nov for coffee and cake. The place is lovely and welcoming and the dining area even has a cosy wood burner. Walking in the smell of fresh coffee was fantastic and it tasted just as good. There was a wide range of cakes, sampled a couple between us and they were delicious. The lady that served us said that they were planning to widen the menu again soon with paninis, salads etc. so we'll definitely be back to try them. Had a little wander round the grounds after and the surroundings are so peaceful, so all in all a very restorative outing. We'll definitely be back again and again.

waiting time was to long despite lots of people looking busy behind the counter. The kids wanted hot chocolate with Marshmallows, but they didn't have them those. They seem to liked the drink. Their Lemon drizzle cake, they shared was brought on only one plate, was very thin with 2 large forks. I wanted to order a Earl grey Tea with fresh lemon. but they didn't have lemon: so I ask for Thai with Soya milk, but they only had Thai Latte but unfortunately it wasn't hot. All in all not such a good experience , overpriced too!

Tara Kadampa Meditation Centre - this afternoon was my time out: for contemplation, reflection, prayer, and remembrance. Coffee at the World Peace Cafe offered delightful brunch and light lunch options, yummy cakes and fabulous coffees and teas. You can then truly enjoy being immersed in the calm and tranquil energy the meditation centre naturally generates. I feel re-energised and revived after bathing in the beauty and positive energy and aura of this amazing place today🙏🧘🏽‍♂️

It's such a lovely peaceful place to eat. It was my first time visiting the Tara Buddist centre and it was beautiful. I had Jacket potato, goat's cheese, baked beans, and a side salad. It was well presented and so tasty. Serves vegetarian and vegan food. The staff were very pleasant and the atmosphere very peaceful - it was great. I will certainly go again and very reasonably priced. (Open 10am to 4pm closed Mondays).

This is such a beautiful place and the gardens are so lovely to stroll around. Firstly the entrance has a wow factor with the huge sequoias lining the driveway. We walked around the grounds in the sunshine and then went a bit further through rougher ground in a loop which was very nice. We had a baby and a dog with us and sat outside at the café. My daughter who was with us recommended the vegan cakes but we had some vegan and some vegetarian and all were good. The lunch menu was limited but looked appetising and will try it on another occasion. We found it a quiet and serene place to visit and everyone seemed friendly and relaxed. Would definitely recommend it.

I have been visiting here for years and have seen many changes over the years. The grounds are beautiful. They have two meditation rooms open to the public and a world peace cafe run by volunteers. The cafe is closed Mondays. They run courses and have a shop which doesn't seem to open at weekends. The centre is closed during festivals. The building used to be a school for children with special needs and was a Buddhist primary school until fairly recently. It is a very relaxing place to visit.

Beautiful building (now used as a school) and tranquil grounds for a lovely stroll with a World Peace Cafe (in a converted barn) serving vegetarian foods, cakes and beverages - all good. Tables to sit at as well as comfy settees. Credit to the volunteers who run the cafe. Also seating outside in the little court yard for warmer weather with your dogs and the garden to the front side of the school. Cafe now has wifi too! Disabled toilets. Adequate parking. I have been visiting the Tara Centre for about 5 years and often go for the meditation and meal which I always enjoy. The new café has a lovely courtyard area but it is a little small inside so weather permitting I opt for an outside table. The coffee, teas and cakes are all lovely but in my opinion the lunch menu could be extended. There was a much better choice in the past however for coffee, a slice of delicious cake and a catch up with an old friend this place is perfect.I love the setting and start to unwind as soon as I enter the gates. The drive has red wood trees that lead up to the main building which is now a school, Buddhist Centre plus B+B.After food we usually stroll around the grounds and relax on one of the many benches. For me there is a beautiful atmosphere here perhaps it is all the positive energy something seems to make me keep returning.

Contrary to previous comments I found smiling friendly staff in a modern very clean cafe within a sheltered courtyard. I enjoyed the best coffee I've had for a while with a gluten free chocolate brownie for L3.50. Friend had scone with jam & tea also OK. Also on the menu were jacket potatoes with various cheeses, salads & baguettes with cheeses and a good selection of cakes. There is an avenue of majestic giant redwoods on the drive and a meditation and retreat in Ashe Hall mansion adjacent.

I've been meaning to pop in and try the cafe out for months, as I'm only 5 minutes drive away. It was a warm day and the amount of flies in the cafe was unacceptable. They were landing on food! Not a welcoming place at all. The two women behind the counter never said a word or cracked a smile. Poor choice of cakes and baked good for 11am. Average coffee which took 10 minutes to arrive despite no other customers ordering. Bemused really as it could be a real destination in these parts.

Perfect to meet a friend for a coffee & cake if you get one of the sofa tables, or outside in the courtyard (done this a couple of times).Today I took my daughter (19) for lunch. The prices were excellent. The table was very sticky, the service was slow, and the food was ok, but very limited.I'm trying not to be negative, because it's a lovely place, but her comment was "It seems to be baguette or baked potato, with a choice of cheeses, why can't they do a quiche salad, or something more interesting".There was a soup, which she had, and left.Soup & baguette. Baked potato with brie & coleslaw. Large coffee. Can of drink. All for only £10.59.With a little more thought and effort, this could be improved hugely.

The Peace Cafe has at last moved into the new barn with an excellent courtyard to sit in when weather allows. Very friendly with excellent homemade cake, carrot cake in particular is recommended. Lunch menu is limited compared to when the cafe was inside the lounge. Excellent grounds to walk around after/before your snack. Opening times used to be a problem but now seem to be open 7 days a week from 09-00 to 17-00. A vast improvement on that pokey little place which has had to suffice for last few years.

Huge redwood trees line the driveway. I didn't eat at the cafe. It is tiny but looks nice. I stayed a couple of nights in the bed & breakfast portion, and it was the absolute quietest night's sleep I have ever had. Sometime the first morning I heard a leaf rustle outside my window, and actually went to look, since it was the only thing I had heard that morning. So peaceful. Maybe I should have expected that since it is actually a Buddhist Centre.
