This was a meal included as part of our stay at the excellent Lansdowne Guest House. Really enjoyed this ‘free meal’. Waiting staff were really nice and efficient and our two courses were excellent.

Came here for Sunday lunch. It was soo good. The beef was cooked to perfection, homecooked yorkshire puddings and lovely veg. Yes, its a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. Would highly recommend.

Food took over a hour the waiter/manager was very rude about it being late. Wish we never bothered . Food cold on arrival complete waste of time and money

This was our second visit. It won’t be the last ! We pre booked for Easter Sunday lunch knowing how busy Bourton gets but we were stunned the visitor numbers this time. We’re glad we came though because Sunday lunch here just gets better and better and it’s not too expensive for what you get. My roast beef was just how I like it. ( Im told the chicken was good too.) There were perfect roast potatoes, a gigantic Yorkshire pudding, tender stem broccoli and roast carrots plus sides. All delicious. I was too full for dessert but my husband had a pud and I had a spoonful. It was a glossy chocolate cake with honeycomb and caramel : just too tasty but I didn’t have room for a whole one. The inn was absolutely packed and the staff were extremely busy but they were so friendly and did everything to make us feel as looked after. We had to finish with a trip round the model village to make our day complete. It’s a model of the actual village and there was our inn right there ! Amazing. We avoided the main village this time as it was unpleasantly crowded but will certainly visit again. For us it’s worth the diversion when travelling to family in the midlands. No photos. We were enjoying our food too much to stop !

A better ending to our week away. We had Sunday lunch here after visiting the Model Village and got a ticket for 10% off. Result. Nearly didn’t bother after a bad experience elsewhere last Sunday but glad we came here. We had roast pork which was two thick but tender steaks. There were roasted carrots and potatoes and tender stem broccoli on the plate with cauliflower cheese and lovely spice red cabbage in separate bowls. Everything was piping hot and we didn’t wait long. The man who took our order was so friendly and the girl who brought our drinks was really attentive. We definitely saved the best till last.. Don’t make the same mistake; book here FIRST.

Over priced drinks .Did not eat. Almost deserted - can see why. Had one drink and left. No atmosphere.

Had high hopes, but alas I was met with an average experience. Staff were friendly and approachable. They were unable to split a bill and service was slightly haphazard which let them down. Food very slightly over priced for quality, flavour and quantity. The place was lacking atmosphere and personality. So compared with other places in the village it comes middle of the table, nothing wow or fancy but fine. I'd not recommend or return, because other places in village are amazing! If others booked out this place would be OK.

We had our anniversary dinner at the atrium, and it left us underwhelmed. We had a taxi booked to take us to the hotel but they arrived late to collect us, it was completely out of our control. Out of courtesy, we called ahead to say we would be 10-15 mins late, to which the receptionist replied we would probably miss our first couple of courses. For starters, the timing of that doesn't work out, but equally, it sets the tone for how this hotel treats its customers. We objected and talked to a manager who said they'd do the best to accommodate us being 10 mins late. Jeez, thanks. The kitchen must be so overworked we're grateful. We arrived and the receptionist asked if she could take our coats, it wasn't until the end of dinner when I went to the loo I saw that our coats hadn't been put away safely they were just put on a peg in the main thoroughfare. Had I known that I'd have kept it safely with me. We went to the atrium dining room to see 6 inward facing tables. We were the 5th to be seated. The room itself has very corporate decor, a few flipcharts and red marker pens wouldn't have looked out of place. The wine list is small and tops at £120 a bottle, unless there was another list we were unaware of. Our white burgundy was served in red wine glasses. We noticed that the folks at the next table had their white in white wine glasses. The 6th table of guests arrived and then food service started. For each course several wait staff queued up with dishes for all tables and then the one waiter that was allowed to interact with customers deposited them on the tables and then stood at the front of the class, I mean dining room, and announced to us all what the dishes were. A few courses in I found this batch processing of dinner to be tiresome as we had to wait for others to get their food, have swapped dishes explained privately and then he would address the room before we could eat - meaning our food was getting cold. The pace of dinner was therefore dependent on the slowest diner before the plates were cleared and the next course could begin. If someone went to the loo the service didn't wait and the food was delivered and announced without them - always hallmarks of high end dining. Cutlery wasn't laid it was plonked on the table for diners to set themselves. Any requests of the waiter were met with comments of why he was busy and we had to wait. When people part with their hard earned cash they want to feel special and appreciated. Tone is usually set at the top, which is where the inflexibility and batch approach to dinner must come from. I dont particularly like being shunted through a dinner experience en masse. Its a shame as the service detracted from the food, which was good but not special enough that I should be expected to experience it like a coach load of punters. My sympathies to the chef, i can only imagine the hardship that it is to cater for 12 covers in an entire evening, When dining out, you always remember how the place made you feel, and lord of the mayor's left us feeling meh. Maybe communal dining for £450 a pop just isn't for us.
