Fabulous all day breakfast. Beautiful local sausage, bacon and eggs. A hearty amount of fresh thick toast. Helpful in telling how it was cooked and that it was all locally sourced. A large pot of tea and everything was piping hot. Have been here before and will be here again. Top work by the owners. I highly recommend this place.

Service was fine. there is space to sit as it’s not well known/busy. But the cream tea is expensive for one scone only and when compared to others in the area is quite small! Tasted lovely but would put two scones or make it bigger 🤷♀️

My husband and I visited one morning during our stay in Stow. We both had a yummy cooked breakfast with locally sourced meat, our eggs were perfectly cooked and the mushrooms not greasy like other places. We can honestly say it’s the best breakfast we have had out for a very long time, we can’t wait to return to Stow for another visit. Great coffee too and friendly staff. We felt safe during the current Covid time and witnessed tables being throughly sanitised between customers Loved the quirkiness of In the Mood, so lovely to visit a tearoom with personality and individuality. You would have thought after months of closure due to lockdown the owner would have been happy and cheerful to greet and see customers. However, it was the total opposite. If you don't want to be there, don't be there. Regret not giving our buisness elsewhere. The panines were unbelievably basic & lacking flavour topped up with a stingy portion of chips.

We came across this little cafe whilst looking for a bite to eat. We decide on a trip down memory lane with scampi and chips in the basket and jumbo sausage and chips in the basket. Whilst we waited for the food, we were given the largest teapot we have ever been served in a cafe, with enough tea for at least 3 cups each! The food was absolutely piping hot - and I mean hot - and we both enjoyed our meals. Service was reasonable and tables were wiped down before we were seated due to the dreaded virus. We also had to leave contact details, just in case. The cakes looked rather good, but didn't sample them. Would visit again if in the area.

Such a shame. Just driven 2.5 hours from home & arrived in Stow. We had visited many times before & knew the area in the town where we were going to lunch. We opted for "in The Mood" nice looking property, good looking menu, not expensive. We entered & waited to be offered a table by a friendly, smiley gentlemen who gave us our menu's. We choose very quickly & put the menu's down on the table & waited & waited & waited. Meanwhile friends of the owner came in, went straight to a table, looked at the menu, ordered their food & were served drinks immediately, meanwhile we still waited. The pleasant smiley chap then decided instead of taking our order he opted to clear a table of dirty cups & plates & nobody was waiting for a table. Dear Owner Never forget your business is built on tourists custom probably far more than a few locals. You showed nothing but rudeness & argoance to us on this visit & that is why we got up & walked out, still before you managed to give us your time. On the flip side, we had a beautiful lunch four doors down the road in "The Hive" & the service was first class.

Came in for breakfast and found it expensive for a very average breakfast. £11.95 for a mega breakfast. Considering the location to the local butchers I expected better sausages, I can only assume came from a packet, frozen ready made hash browns, cheap beans. The service was rather slow considering we were the only customers in there at the time. We have been in here before and the food was a lot better. All in all a very average experience and cost me too much!

So disappointed to find this tearoom has completely changed and is nothing like the pictures shown here! We came here twice before when it was the 1940s themed tearoom when the food was reasonably priced and you felt like you’d gone back in time to the Second World War - however upon coming back here for a third time we were shocked to see that the character has been ripped out and the new owners have made a half hearted attempt to impose a 1950/60s theme by adding a picture of Marilyn Monroe on the wall as well as a guitar. The menu has also changed and the prices have almost doubled - before you could have ordered soup with a sandwich for £4.95 but it is now £8.95! Food quality was ok but prices were not. Needless to say we will not be returning. There are plenty of Tearooms like this and I’m afraid what was once special and unique about this place has now been lost.

Apparently the current owners have only been here for 1 month or so. They're friendly enough and the coffee is flavoursome, but the choice of cakes is really limited, and not obviously freshly baked. The interior seems to have been recently decorated, but it's really dull, with no evident theme, apart from a guitar screwed to the wall. Not sure how this ties in with the model camper vans etc. on the shelves. The background music is mainly 50's and 60's rock, which won't be to everyone's taste. Prices OK for Stow, but they will probably need to up their game when the tourist season starts in earnest, given the large number of other cafes and coffee shops in the town.

A themed café. Not what we were expecting as they had taken over the premises from our old favourite. However, quite friendly and not as pricey as before. A compact and reduced menu offering a simple variety with interesting teas and a couple of attractive sandwiches. Was slow on the service despite the simplicity of menu. To improve they need to be even more creative...vary the background music more, and try to 'act' the theme more. Waiters/waitresses in costume perhaps, and proud of their theme in word and deed. Not a bad visit and I wish them well but they need to develop. Will return.

It was almost like going back to our childhood with "Ration Book menus", tea in real "big" teapots and a good range of cakes including "gluten free" which for me was a plus. The slice was so big I had to share it with my husband. A great little tea room with a friendly lady waitress complete with 1940's dress. I'm sorry to say that whilst there was a good effort with the atmosphere of the cafe, we were not impressed at all with the food. Just the look of the insides of my husband's sandwich turned my stomach (it was the bacon, brie and cranberry sauce one) and completed put me off my fish finger sandwich, which was not very substantial and came with a poor excuse for a salad. My husband did his best with his, but sadly didn't manage to finish his either. I don't usually write bad reviews but it was, in my opinion, not worth the £16-17 we paid. The drinks were fine though!! It was a return to 1940's style food.

Just had a couple of nights at Dormy house hotel (at which the back garden is one of the 2 restaurants) We ate at the back garden on the first night Let me preface this by saying the hotel and the chefs table restaurant (Mo, which we dined at on the second night) are top notch - I’ve reviewed them separately also If I’m being honest though, the Back Garden was a bit of a let down Setting - lovely Service - great Wine and cocktails - fab I think we just made a few bad choices in terms of dishes (which are always subjective at the end of the day) Emma had the gazpacho - we love a gazpacho, this one just felt a bit thin and lacking seasoning. It was almost trying to be a bit too delicate I’d say the same about my starter, I had the hot smoked salmon salad - it just didn’t taste of much, needed more dressing. Just something to bring it to life? Emma’s main - the curried Kiev was top notch I had the roast cod in a mussel veloute sauce. Nice, but only 3 mussels? Emma didn’t have a dessert, I was intrigued by the sheep’s cheese, honey comb and Eccles cake dessert (the most expensive at £14) It just didn’t work for me - two small blobs of cheese, a small square of honeycomb and a small (beautifully baked) Eccles cake - it just didn’t hang together, I’m not sure what it was meant to deliver? We had a pleasant evening (thanks everyone) but compared to the rest of the stay we felt it missed the mark

Shocking service I don't normally review While doing a small tour of the area and having stopped at the close several times we decided to stop there for lunch that was a wasted 45 minutes We Sat in the garden got ignored for around 10 minutes in the end I went inside to ask for menus i had to stop a waiter to ask as i was continually ignored as staff walked past never asking can I help you I took the menus outside 2 visits from a waiter to another table again never looking around or asking would we like to order a some time later a second waiter appeared at the wooden station again no acknowledgement whatsoever we then decided we were wasting our time we really should not be trying to chase some service the staff here need some desperate training even a comment of I will be with you shortly would have been great ! And acceptable ! We returned to painswick for some great service and had lunch there But it's nice to see the close is doing so well they don't need to worry about lost custom
