Practically perfect in every way. My girlfriend (who became my fiancé during our stay) stayed at Lords of the Manor in December 2024. I had a number of special requests which the team were only too happy to accommodate. We stayed during Storm Darragh which unfortunately led to a 24h powercut during our stay. The staff were wonderful, and did everything they could to ensure we were safe and comfortable despite the lack of power. Leona and I look forward to visiting again!

Stopped here for simple scones and tea near the end of a long walk in the Cotswolds countryside. Sitting in the serenity of the garden in front of the hotel savoring the delicious scones and tea was a nice break. The staff was friendly and helpful although a bit formal. Will definitely stay here for a stay in the hotel and dinner the next time we are in the Cotswolds.

Lovely gardens and decor. We came for Sunday lunch and had three courses. All of them were excellent. Service was friendly and well timed. Cod was excellent as was the beef. Cauliflower cheese on the side was perfect too. The tomato and pineapple gazpacho starter was well balanced and delicious. The desserts were beautifully presented and also matched that in flavour and textures.

A first class dining experience in the Atrium, that will never be forgotten. Firstly all the staff at Lords of the Manor are impeccable, their professionalism and knowledge is outstanding. The taster menu is designed with the relevant season at its heart, providing exquisite dishes including quail, halibut, lamb and spring vegetables. Each dish is presented immaculately and is a delight in every mouthful leaving you wanting more, but also excited for the next course. Adding a flight of wine adds another depth to the experience, with wines carefully picked to enhance the ingredients on the plate. Lords of the Manor is a masterclass on how to do things right. No smoke, fire or other gimmicks needed the skill and expertise speaks for itself.

I recently photographed a wedding at Lords of the Manor & was so impressed. The location & venue itself is beautiful - and the guests and couple were all thrilled with it. The team went above & beyond to make sure the day was perfect for the Bride & Groom and made sure I had everything I needed to do my job too! It means so much & is always wonderful to work with such a lovely team! The gardens were immaculate and made for beautiful photographs. Looking forward to being back soon for more celebrations!

From the moment we arrived to the time we had to leave, the staff looked after us with a smile and without fuss. In particular Neil who greeted us in the lounge for a pre-dinner drink and looked after us throughout the 8-course tasting menu in the Atrium. He was very knowledgeable, always checking we had enough wine, or water, or just generally being on top of it all. He was great all evening. So too were the other staff, who brought in the different dishes and explained with full detail the plate of food before us, the inspiration behind it, and the different flavours we should expect. It was just incredible. My favourite was the quail and quail egg and lemon meringue. This was amazing cookery and artistry. Loved every second. We will come back.

Spectacular afternoon tea. We only went to have afternoon tea, with reservation. The place is a spectacle, the environment itself, upper slaughter, is dreamlike, and if you add lower slaughter and burton, it seems like something out of a story. The mansion is very beautiful, the tea menu is great, the attention was special, as if we were family, and the rooms are spectacular. Incredible.

An Exceptional Afternoon Tea in a stunning period house. The customer service was impeccable; from the first online booking, subsequent polite reminder phone call to our (reluctant) departure. We were served by Andy who was on hand whenever we needed him. A good choice of teas and plenty of hot water top-ups if required. Food delightful. The TASTIEST fruit scone, it was still warm and beautifully crunchy; I topped it with fresh strawberry jam and clotted cream …. Yum ! Nothing was too much trouble - even boxing up what we couldn’t eat to take home ((thank you)). We brought a dog with us, who was well looked after too. Full afternoon tea £35 per head. An upgrade to include glass of champagne was optional. Stunning setting. A real treat ! Thank you to all staff :)

We stopped for tea and snacks. The server met us at the door and seemed utterly perplexed at our request for tea and perhaps some snacks. He had to go check first with someone, then he stuffed us into a small side room beside the kitchen entrance. We didn’t have a proper table, just a saggy sofa and small sad coffee table. Tea was lukewarm, server vanished, we never did receive everything we ordered. We finally went to hotel reception to pay and couldn’t be bothered to complain, since we’d been almost an hour waiting to leave and wanted to get on with our day. If this is indicative of the hotel quality, I would never stay here.

We had a celebratory birthday lunch on a Saturday and everything about our experience was just outstanding! From our arrival, when the staff offered to park our car for us, to enjoying the lounge after our meal had finished, I cannot fault a thing. The food was amazing, totally delicious and, although the portions were not large, they were perfectly judged and completely satisfying. There was much to tempt us on the a la carte menu, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their choices. My entire meal (starter: smoked salmon delicately presented, main course: park belly, and dessert of poached pears and panna cotta) was a delight in every bite, as were my companion's meals. Even the little things like the bread and butter, or the mint tea after the meal, were exceptional. The presentation was very beautiful. The service was beautifully, indeed, perfectly, paced. Visited here in June 2022 for my birthday. We decided to have a couple of drinks at the bar to start and were so pleased we did. We were waited on hand and foot and honestly some of the best service I have ever experienced. We had 2 servers, both of whom were very friendly and knowledgeable. The cocktails were fantastic. We had our order taken while drinking our cocktails in the bar beforehand and even asked what course we would like our wine choices to arrive. A very nice touch. We had some squid to start as an appetiser which was lovely. Great sized portion. Only point to note that they were a tad salty but no big issue. I then had the arancini to start and my boyfriend had the salmon. Great sized portions and delicious. I then had the lamb and my boyfriend had the duck. The lamb was incredible, cooked perfectly and tender. My boyfriend said his duck was also delicious. To end we shared a mint chocolate torte which was lovely. As it was my birthday they bought out a little treat at the end which was a lovely touch. From start to finish a wonderful meal and would definitely return.

The tea was ok but Luke warm, and because one of our party is disabled we choose a lounge on the ground level only to have new guests walking through with luggage, management walking around with working discussing the toilet refurbishment and guests walking their dogs through!Needless to say we didn’t pay the service charge, and we will continue our search for an establishment that can offer afternoon tea without issues at a cost which is sensible

It is of a standard not often found and if I could manage to eat a tasting menu every day, I would be there, of that there is no doubt. The dishes are creative but not overly so and the flavours are quite amazing, Wonderful. So good, it has to find a place in my Top 5 restaurants.

Food was superb! Sunday lunch menu was exquisite, each and every course! The only area for improvement was the selection of wines served by the glass and the prices charged which are a little steep for the average quality.

We dressed for dinner. I wore a suit. My partner (who is British, born in London and of Nigerian heritage) wore a nice dress. We arrived by taxi half-an-hour early, as suggested by the restaurant, in order to have an aperitif in the bar. We were politely shown to the bar and told that someone would look after us. We took a seat at a table in the bar. From this point we were completely ignored.

Went to celebrate an important birthday and could not have chosen a better venue. It oozes class and the food is sensational in every aspect - freshness, innovation, ingredients, taste, while its presentation is a work of art. The service was attentive, but unobtrusive and respectful.

We took a walk up from lower slaughter and popped in for a cup of coffee and some tea cakes. The were very expensive! On the other hand, this is a great place place. We really enjoyed sitting out in the garden and having our coffee and cakes. The staff was very friendly even though we wandered in off the trail and only ordered a little. If money was no object this would be a great place to stay. They treated us very well!

Visited the first time for dinner. We had the 7 course tasting menu which was excellent throughout. The produce, cooking, timings, service (warm and efficient): all were first rate. The decor could perhaps use a bit more attention, but it seems that the team is on it. We had a chance to meet the chef Charles Smith who is clearly on a mission. He has a strong background and on this showing a great future. Very highly recommended.

What a delight it is to dine at Lords of the Manor. Each course is exquisite and yet designed flow on to the next in a happy progression. My dinners were quite wonderful, well-timed and aimed to both please and tease the palate. I loved the little taste bud teasers and palate cleansers to serve as pleasing intermezzos between courses. The veal carpaccio brought tears to my eyes with its delicacy and the opera cake was memorable as one of the best desserts of my life.

As a dedicated London foodie, it's always a joy to find a rural restaurant that shows city eateries how to serve a really top quality meal. The style is country house, with lovely surprises throughout the meal. The various courses were interspersed with all sorts of canapes and amuse bouches delicacies. Every course was a triumph, but the stand out was a superb Raviolo of Norfolk quail breast & foie gras with thyme-infused consommé. The quality of the food was matched by wonderful service. Eat here if you ever get the chance, you won't regret it. It's not cheap, but it's worth every penny. A magnificent experience.

Me and my partner visited whilst on holiday in the Cotswolds. Prior to our visit, I requested 2 vegan menus. They came with 2 choices for each course - although disappointed the only options for dessert were a fruit salad and sorbet (no imagination). I have attached the photos of what we had.

Picture-perfect grounds and manor house. A wonderful lunch of pea soup and ale (what's a better lunch, I ask you?!). Take time to wander through the gardens in the back - they're well worth it! Wonderful hospitality - the Chief of Maintenance gave us an insight into the upkeep of such a grand manor. Our server acted as a guide - advising us on how to continue our walk. All in all, a wonderful stop along our way.

We were treated to Sunday Lunch at Lords of the Manor and arrived with great anticipation. Unfortunately it was not quite warm enough to have a drink outside so we adjourned to the bar which was as quiet as a reading room at University, just a couple on their computers having coffee to keep us company. We were ushered into the Dining Room which was empty apart from one other couple. No atmosphere, no buzz, no

The service is excellent, the building and grounds are great even if the restaurant decor is a bit dated and confused. The food is well presented, but I don’t think they will win a Michelin star currently. The depth of flavours simply isn’t there in sauces and accompaniments, some items were left unseasoned and a piece of Brill I had was slightly over-cooked. There is perhaps also a certain lack of originality in the cuisine. It could become again a place with a star but the consistency and inventiveness simply is not there (yet).

A great experience. The building and the estate are stunning - when the weather is good it is a must to wander in the estate and back gardens. The décor of the restaurant itself is refined, if a bit understated - at least there is no faux-pas there.

Having a drive across the Cotswolds is a very lovely experience with those lovely villages built on light stone and this restaurant is in Upper Slaughter one of the prettiest villages in the area. The restaurant is based in a very picturesque hotel traditional from the Cotswolds in stone and it is a fine dinning restaurant with good service and a decent value for money lunch menu. It was not exceptional but overall it was very good, a bit expensive when you add all, but certainly a very pleasant culinary experience

We returned on a complimentary visit after my disastrous birthday in November where the water was freezing cold during my stay making bathing/showering very uncomfortable. This time we were given room 16 which was spacious with a lovely view of the gardens and very pleasant. Again breakfast was very pleasant. The staff were very courteous and helpful. We did not dine this time as we were not given any discount. A little short slighted of the management as for a small discount they would have had our dinner, wine and drinks income.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

We arrived just after the recent bad snowy weather had started to thaw. The hotel had received many cancellations because the snowdrifts made it difficult to reach the hotel by car. We were the only people who made it for lunch . In spite of the lack of guests at the hotel we would that the service could have been better, especially in the finer details. For example, the entrance to the hotel from the car park was still icy and my wife as well as another person in our party of four almost slipped on the thawing ice. Nothing serious happened but I did find it strange that the hotel had not put more salt on the ice. When we got to the bar and ordered our drinks I was surprised that no nibbles, free or otherwise, were offered or even suggested by the barman. We had the whole restaurant to ourselves. The hors d'oeuvres were fine and the first course and the pudding were very good. However, we were disappointed with the traditional roast beef, which frankly is not too difficult to make. We were not asked how we wanted the beef cooked, so all three people received the same rare beef. Again, this is a small complaint but one person in our party does not like eating rare beef and frankly it is almost normal now in any half decent restaurant to be asked how people want their beef cooked. The Yorkshire pudding was an embarrassment as it was overcooked, so it tasted of card-board. The roast potatoes seemed to have been deep fried a number of times as the skin was covered in some sort of batter which made it difficult to cut. Two people in our party did not touch the Yorkshire pudding and the roast potatoes. Yet, the cauliflower and carrots were done to perfection. The bread was also good and the two types of butter served with it were delicious. Bizarrely, there was no salt or pepper mill on the table. With an almost empty hotel, when it came to having coffee at the end of the meal our waiter did not suggest that we take in the lounge, which again I thought was a bit strange.

I met some friends for lunch at The Pig, i looked at places close to Cirencester and noticed The new pig in the Cotsworlds. What an amazing find. We had an outstanding lunch. I had the pork and the Chef accomodated me with my garlic allergy. I can't remember the last time I ate lunch out in the UK and enjoyed it so much. Lovely, I will return.
