Tanon in Fife

Superb. 4 guys on a golfing trip and this was a great find. Nice vibe inside the restaurant and casual decor. Service was excellent - beers and wine ordered, and I'm not joking, at our table within 30 seconds. Food delivered promptly and it was authentic Thai full of flavour. Would happily return.

Found this place by chance, when the Indian we booked into online had actually closed down…so we followed the relocation directions to Tanon…and so glad we did! The food was amazing! I had sweet corn fritters to start followed by tofu green curry, my husband had prawn toast followed by chicken catsu curry, with a side of Thai prawn crackers…couldn’t fault the food…it was outstanding, along with a nice relaxed atmosphere, fantastic friendly and fast service…we wouldn’t hesitate to return and highly recommend…so glad the Indian was closed, what a find!!!

Tanon is an absolute delight. Great food, service and a laid back vibe. A return trip to St Andrews a must to try something else.

Good food, pleasant staff, and well priced. The red curry is very good, as are the spring rolls and ramen soup. A must get beverage is the Thai iced tea, which is hard to find anywhere else in St Andrews

Carry out was cold , food did not cover the bottom of the box and rice was even worse, waste of 29 pounds .will not be back and will never recommend anyone to go there

I was delighted that Tanon reopened in Alexandra Place as a 'pop-up' after the original site on Market Street closed due to a fire. I suspect they'll be staying in the new premises as it probably offers 3 times the covers of the old one. Food is as good as ever and very reasonable priced when you compare to other restaurants in St Andrews. Especially for takeaway. They no longer take bookings but you should have no problem getting in unless there's a major golf event on.

First time visit since covid never realised if had moved to St Mary's place once we had found it the food was fantastic service good also

Food was average. It’s on the cheaper end for Thai food so reasonably priced for what it was. Not really many options in St Andrews so if you’re looking for Thai, would still recommend

Some of the food was very good some of the food was terrible, with the pork on one dish not being pink and jelly textured on the inside. We were not offered a new dish yet they had still taken the previous dish away when the food was not finished. The sweet chilli sauce was watery and tasted of fish and tomato paste. The soup that comes with the bento box tasted of oily water. Very small portions (either starter size or for a 7 year old) and costing over £10 is way too pricey. Most of the service was good except for our waitress who would not help us with the poor food quality. It’s a shame to see my once favourite restaurant in St Andrews go downhill so I won’t be returning sadly.

Been coming here for years always amazing food and good take away, but today I was extremely disappointed in the service I got in tanon. I ordered one of my favourites the bento box, waited much longer than anyone else at my table only for it to come luke warm almost cold send it back and they bring it back obviously just been put in the microwave and half my chicken teriyaki gone even tho I had eaten any all I have ate was one of the dumplings. Again send it back saying half my chicken has Gone and you have obvs just heated this up in the microwave. Third time lucky it comes back and was okay didn’t give me another dumpling out of the 2 and I was disappointed with the quality of the meal which again obviously wasn’t made again fresh. The waitress was amazing and did everything she could do. The chefs on the other hand get a grip, it’s not the same as it used to be and will be avoiding for a good while now. Very disappointed

Stopped in for a quick lunch and found that the food was excellent. Service did not dissapoint either.

I visited for supper with my family and when we arrived it was already very busy, we had to wait for a table, and it was absolutely worth it. Wonderful food, great staff who worked really hard to keep things perfect . I love the decor & the vibe. Will definately be back. Thanks Tanon for a lively meal 🙂

First visit back at Tanon as a sit in restaurant and loved the food once more. This remains our favourite Thai restaurant and great to see it now has a far larger seating area than their original location. Looking forward to our next visit.

Due to an unfortunate fire at a neighbouring business, they have had to relocate to a pop up premises opposite the Student Union. Tasty food, great service & reasonable prices.

Quite disappointed. I wanted to treat myself with a Thai iced tea but the staff completely filled the cup with ice suntil very little tea could be poured into it. While the taste was there, it certainly didn't feel like it was worth £4 for this amount of tea plus the absence of bubbles.

I love Thai food, and Tanon has the best Thai food I have ever eaten, it was absolutely delicious. We ordered take out as a family and every member really enjoyed everything they ordered. The tofu is to die for. Highly recommended.

I had never had Thai food before until I came here. Sublime quality of food, cooked to perfection and full of taste. Would highly recommend the Thai omelette and the chicken satay.

A very small space with tables crammed in - the portions match the space. Nevertheless, not too expensive and the wine they have available will not stretch the bank balance either. A cold, dark, miserable, Monday evening in St Andrews was saved by a visit to Tanon. We walked from the cinema to Tanon and the restaurants we passed en route were either closed or half empty. Then we arrived at Tanon where there was a warm welcome and a lively atmosphere. The food was delicious as ever and we went home feeling very satisfied.

It was good to have some comfort food to warm the stomach after a round of golf in the cold weather. Good authentic Thai food.

What an excellent little place. We popped in on a Saturday night and it’s a small cosy place with probably 16 tables for two. It was full but the lady took our number and promised to call when they had a table which she guessed would be 40 mins. Almost to the minute the call came and we were seated.

The quality of the food was amazing albeit very small portions however the waitress was quite impatient and a little bit rude and although I understand she was tight on space she didn’t have to be quite so abrupt in making us leave. Slight overpriced and inauthentic but delicious in its own way.

Small cosy restaurant with a an extensive menu of Thai Street Food. The Ribs for started were tasty but the Lamb Masaman Curry with coconut rice was so full of flavours and one of the best I’ve had outside Thailand.

This is our 2nd visit, after we visited last year. My wife is Thai, and she loves the food here. She described how impressed she was with the wide selection of dishes and yet they still came really quickly.

Only been opened for a couple of year or so, this was our second visit as part of our annual visit to St Andrews, next year will be our third when we definitely return again.

My partner and I visited this restraunt as we love Asian food and the reviews on trip adviser were good. We were not dissapointed! The prawn tempura was excellent! And the bento box too. Lots of flavour and at a good price. If you want a fancy dining experience you will be dissapointed but quick tasty food is what's on offer! We arrived early on a Saturday so cannot comment on how busy it gets, there is no booking a table system. If we lived closer we woukd definetly be back!

The place is small and the hours limited, but the food was some of the best Thai food I have had. The staff was so nice and the food was delicious, spicy and a little different. My drunken noodles had pepper on the vine included in my dish. That was awesome!

Visited here for a wee bite on a Sunday. Food was amazing, service was great too! Other people were also commenting how good the food was and there were also lots of native diners, which is a good indication too.

We were a walk in for two at 530z. Restaurant was quiet but got busier. Staff were really helpful and food was fresh, well cooked and really tasty. We had the prawn toast and little pork pieces as starters and shred them. My wife had Chicken Massaman and steamed rice for main and I had Pad Thai. We had the small vegetable stir-fry as a side.

Excellent little Thai place in a brilliant central location. Great for couples or small groups looking for great food in an informal setting.

We visited Tanon on Friday 24th May 2019 with our two daughters aged 15 and 12 who adore Thai Food! I cannot rate this authentic,Thai restaurant highly enough! The staff were friendly, efficient and extremely helpful! The food was excellent and the most authentic and tasty Thai meal I have had since I was in Bangkok.

Whilst the food itself was good, we were disappointed with the service.

We’ve been here a few times recently and found the food and service excellent every time. Only gripe is that you can’t book. We turned up on the weekend just after 7 and were told it’d be a 15-30 minute wait. Went back after 30 minutes and were then at the back of the queue. Wish they would take your nine and phone when a table was nearly ready - would be a fairer way to organise if they won’t let you book. Table turnover is fairly quick.

Considering how busy both they and the who of St A was the service was quick the food arrived piping hot and with very little waiting. On top of that the food was tasty, and explosion of different flavours all married together perfectly.

I have had decent take out from here before but this time the food was lukewarm, expensive and sub par. The portions are small, and you have to order rice for an additional £3 with mains. Very over priced. Apparently the only think worth getting is the Pad Thai.

Clean & bright space, cozy seating (in a pleasant way), really friendly and responsive staff. Great food, creative ramen bowls, portions spot on. Get the coconut rice with whatever you order. Inexpensive drinks. Might be the best budget dining in St Andrews - but we’re not done yet. :-)
