Friends birthday meal. Food did not disappoint. We went for the deal food & 5 drinks, great deal. First time here but would definitely return.

Outstanding restaurant in the middle of Cowdenbeath. Highly recommend the buffet and the included drinks package option makes it superb value! The curries in particular are awesome!

Me and my family visit shimla palace regularly and are always extremely satisfied with the food and the service is always 100% we have celebrated many birthdays in shimla palace and the staff always go out their way to make it special.

I have eaten here many times and carry outs even more and have never been disappointed. Just a small note the garlic nan was a bit soggy. Great value for money.

Came here for my belated Mothers day meal. Family came over from Glasgow as they live it here. Can't beat a good buffet at a reasonable price. Great food and something for everyone. More than happy to come back again at anytime

First, and, sadly, last visit Sunday night. I found the food bland, much of the starters were very dry: veg pakora, haggis & chicken pakora, chicken drumsticks - very dry and, to me, quite tasteless. All the mains were chicken - one lamb dish. I took small tasters of each chicken dish - I found all the chicken to be dry. Maybe the food is different during the day. The tastiest thing I had were onions from the small salad section - crispy & fresh. I gave it 2 stars because maybe I was there on an off night for them, it was relatively inexpensive and the staff were friendly, otherwise it would have been one star. First time, after a great many Indian meals over the years that I've eaten again when I got home. Needless to say, I won't be returning.

Turned up to a large family meal, we admit our numbers had been miscounted and were 5 over. We asked if we could join the end of the table to be abruptly told no initially, but then ok as long as we moved to a table elsewhere at 4pm. 4pm came and we asked which table to move to, the man, again abruptly, implied he expected us to leave by 4! (We arrived 3.15). We moved to the other table away from family, when we all left at 5pm the table we had moved from, as well as two others nearby were all still completely empty. Food has gone massively downhill, lack of choices, lack of child friendly options, staff look miserable and our drinks didn’t arrive until we had finished our first plate of food, despite ordering them before we even went to buffet. Won’t be returning.

I decided to try this place as it has good reviews, however extremely disappointing. Buffet doesn’t have much option to choose from and more disappointing is that there was no spicy dishes available. They had a South Indian garlic chilli dish and it tasted sweet - far from spicy. Weirdly enough they have a range of Chinese dishes, I decided to try due to the lack of Indian options and it was even more disappointing. Not good quality and very bland food. If you enjoy Indian food, avoid this place. Wouldn’t recommend.

Edited from 5 star everything 2022 including to Christmas dinner to lower stars after Christmas 2023 dinner - this year just felt like herring in a barrel. 2022, very relaxed, not too many people, just steady to 2023 just so many people, big queues for food and them trying to keep up. Lots of empty containers during the meal, ice cream machine not filled etc. Not a great experience considering the extra cost for a Christmas so won't be attempting Christmas here again but will definitely be back for regular buffet as usually the standard is great.

Great buffet, friendly staff and a very nice refurb if the inside and outside. Food was very fresh, constantly being replenished.

Always love our monthly family visit to Shimla. Caters really well for veggies and vegans they will make another dish if you require and always make my son korma sauce extra. Chilli garlic potato dish is excellent 👌

Was in for birthday 27 December around 7pm empty trays lack of rice. Not very much options and food was not very hot. Staff couldn't care less

Nicely decorated restaurant very modern and authentic. Very friendly and attentive staff, good choice of food on offer at the buffet. Food very tasty and always hot. There was no garlic mushrooms on offer, but this wasnt an issue to the staff, a fresh plate was brought to our table and even a freshly cooked garlic nan bread. We used to go to the Glenrothes one, but now isn't part of the same business. So our place to go now is Cowdenbeath.

Phoned in our order, drove in to collect it was very very busy, staff were so apologetic that I had to wait offered me a complementary coffee while I waited and took £5.00 from the price of order because of the wait. I've always been made welcome here.

Visited last night (Party of 6). Our table wasn't set out as usual and we began to think that the Restaurant had been taken over by another Proprieter. The Food on offer was limited for some in our Group and there were a number of empty trays limiting choice. There was a special Stock Car event on and it may have been that the Restaurant had been exceedingly busy during the afternoon and hadn't quite caught up in replenishing all of the food trays. Our Booking was for 6pm. The Shimla is one of our favourite places and we have been Patrons since it opened but last night was a disappointing visit.

1st visit. Plenty of space for us and had no trouble getting a table. Lots of choice on the buffet and the food was delicious. We will definitely come back when we are back in the area.

Visited here with my boyfriend and his family a while ago for the buffet, and ordered a delivery from here tonight. ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. By far the best Indian I've ever had from anywhere 😋 every single thing I've ever had from here has been 1000/10, absolutely brilliant. Slightly pricey but well worth it. Also for a takeaway I would suggest getting one curry/ portion of rice between 2 people as the portion sizes are absolutely massive. Cannot recommend enough.

Shimla was a very place to eat. I personally went for the dinner buffet which was excellent; the food was always, hot, delicious, and topped up as soon as it began to get low. The waiters were always there to clear your plate when you're finished, so you can get your next portion. Excellent value for money for a Friday night meal. I would recommend, and I will personally be going again. A

Had we of gone for lunch the reveiw Would've been better however we went for dinner, barley any options and alot of food clearly sitting for long time as now had some form off weird coating on it and chips stale. No dishes were refilled entire time there which meant near end had no chips and not alot of options

If you want a nice , but value for money buffet lunch, then the Shimla Palace is the place for you. Ideal for a quick meal before the cinema.

I avoided the bufey but unfortunately still disappointed with the food sadly. the staff much more attentive offering drink's every 5 minutes i wish i could like it but no.

My wife and I, have dined at this restaurant several times, and found the food to be excellent the, staff are warm and welcoming, they see you to your seat.

Stopped off here on the way to visit friends. We had heard about Shimla Palace but hadnt visited. We were not disappointed. They are in the middle of a makeover! I was shown around by a lovely man who explained they would be doing Italian and Chinese food too..after their 2nd phase is finished. Food was extremely fresh and plenty of choice. Cant wait to return.

I had heard good reviews about this place but couldn't believe how bad it was.. the place had no character and the food was awful . I am a desert lover but omg this place has a lot to learn and needs to up its game. Tunnocks tea cake and cheap ice cream is not good. Would never ever go back

Popped in here because we had time to kill before the start of the film at the cinema next door. We were taken to a table and asked if we would like drinks, then told to help ourselves to the buffet, the food was hot and very tasty and there was a wide variety on display to pick from. The servers were polite, well presented and prompt, there was plenty of seats when we got there but it filled up quickly so if there is a large party probably better to book ahead.

Have been to shimla a few times now and always enjoy the food.The sweet and sour chicken and chicken pakora are very good,in fact all savoury dishes are very well done,only thing I would complain about is the desserts.there is not much choice compared to most other buffets I have been too,and someone with a sweet tooth like me looks forward to the dessert more then the savoury courses.apart from this I would recommend this place and will no doubt return in the future

Great selection of food. And lovely pakoras. Would have been 5* if they didn't take away sausages ect for kids. Had a hard time getting my 10 year old and 3 year old to eat.

Came for the buffet with family for dinner on a Tuesday night. Very quiet, very relaxing, great selection of foods and staff were very friendly and welcoming. I'm a very fussy eater and was worried I wouldn't be able to choose anything but I wanted to try something new at the same time and in the end I managed to eat quite a good number of things which I was very pleased about.I loved the haggis pakoras, the garlic mushrooms in a creamy sauce and the fried rice. The deserts were nice too - great selection of cakes and favourite ice cream flavours to choose from. Would definitely dine here again.

Relaxing, comfortable setting, lovely music adds to the atmosphere. Went for buffet dinner with my partner & 17 year old son. Staff very attentive and friendly without being in your face. Lots of choice in all sections including chatt patt, garlic mushrooms (heavenly), pakora selection, chilli & garlic potatoes and more. Main dishes are ordered from spicy to mild and clearly labelled again lots of choice such as bhoona, tikka masala and korma with chicken, lamb and vegetable selections. There is also a salad bar, popadoms, garlic and plain naan, choice of dips, sides and another fine selection of deserts and ice cream. Dinner for 3 with round of drinks £39.00 and worth every penny. All of us enjoyed our selections and was full up. Will definitely go back again soon, highly recommend A*****

There are only two great places to eat. Yours and ours.Staff welcome you the moment you arrive. Drinks are ordered promptly at the table and you are free to sample the buffet. Located not far from the bus station and with a cinema next door this is a must.Starters were sweet chili potatoes, garlic mushrooms and Bombay bread. For main course had Chicken korma which was mild and creamy with nan bread. Finished with coffee and chocolate cake. As I was eating a few came in as it appears the takeaway service is proving very popular with locals alike.Bill was only £14 and round of with £20. Staff earned the tip. Its a buffet with a great choice of starters and mains, I myself don't bother with puddings but they are there too. The mains are organised in Hot, Medium and Mild with a good choice of dishes for the different sections. The restaurant is family run and the customer service was brilliant. The food itself was delicious my favourite being the south Indian garlic chilli chicken. The prices are very reasonable and I wish I had a bigger belly to eat more. A word of warning, the spicy onions are the hottest I have tasted which I love.Highly recommended!

Place is nice and quiet and definitely a good place to enjoy a meal. Food is awesome. And stuff are lovely. Good price food and amazing with all you can eat.

We ahve been here several times for family meals on special occasions, the staff are absolutely lovely and very welcoming, the premises are spotless and there is a good variety of food catering for different tastes, Plenty of parking spaces outside and the prices are great.

Three generations of us just had a nice lunch at Shimla Palace. Great choice and very good value. Will certainly return.

A friend and I visited the Shimla palace on a Saturday lunchtime - We were quickly greeted by a very friendly member of staff and seated. Throughout our meal each member of staff we came in contact with was friendly, attentive and genuinely felt like they were happy at their work! Now for the Food - there was a lot of choice of different mains and sides - everything was clearly marked and also cleared marked as to the mildness/spiciness of each main course! I enjoyed each of the curries I tried & loved the garlic naan! There was also a well stocked salad bar! Everything on offer was fresh and well presented. There was also many choices of desserts from chocolate cake and cheesecake to jelly, rice pudding and fruit.The lunch time menu offers exceptional value for money at only 6.95!I would definately recommend to everyone and I will return (soon hopefully)

They do a deal for £20.95 you get the buffet and 5 drinks of your choice from bar.We are here in a Monday night and we're the only 4 customers there, and even though there were only 4 of us the food was kept topped up and fresh.This is far from your high end restaurants but if you are looking for good value food this place is ok.

Staff are welcoming, friendly and attentive. A wide variety of food choices which all taste amazing. Always enough food available as topped up frequently. Clean and well presented restaurant. My family and I visit regularly.

Been a few times and always pleased. Food is always nice, staff are always friendly, we have never been disappointed. Love the choice of food, the hot drinks at the end are fab, the restaurant and toilets are cleab and there is a good choice of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. It's a good place to go with friends or family!Only thing I would say is that the soda water and lime is a bit expensive ( a usual gripe I have with most places though) and bring back the teacakes! Would definitely recommend though, staff can't do enough to help!

The very thought of visiting a palace should enlighten you and this one doesn't disappoint. Palaces as we all know are a place of luxury and you'll be treated like royalty the minute you arrive. As buffet restaurants go this has a lot to offer, plus if you fancy a bit more all you need to do is ask.Typically the menu consist of your drink order and free to choose starters and main courses. Tea and coffee as well as a selection of cakes and dessert are also on offer.Price wise it won't stretch your budget and there is lots to choose from so the whole table and venue will be well fed.That said take my advice and go for the grand buffet. This cost £22 but will consist of all you can eat and ANY five drinks from the bar (did I mention ANY).So the two great places to eat are yours and ours.Leave the cooking and head down to ours. Really great value with plenty of choice. Too much food to eat really as the choice is so extensive but would love to go again.

A group of us from work go once a month, staff are friendly and helpful. Food is great lots of choice from starters through to the curry. Could maybe do more or a vegetarian curry range.

As you go in the door you will be met by a friendly face who will take you to your table. They will then take your drinks order and point you to the buffet. There was not a great choice but there was the starters with chicken pikora, haggis pikora and a few others there was about 8 mains three mild three medium and two hot the food was all fresh and when dish was emptied they filled it very quick there was chips rice and nan to go with the mains. The sweets were not up to much but you cant go wrong with a bit ice cream and a cake but for the price of 9 pounds and 45 pence for my meal and a pint of coke was great value this was the lunch menu 12-3 they also do a night menu that include your meal and 5 drinks alcoholic if you wish for just over 20 pounds so for value for money you cant go wrong will be going back for sure

Food is fantastic and great value. The cafe type layout is probably not great for an intimate meal, but the food really is fabhlous. Worth a visit definitely.

My wife and I have been to the Shimla twice for the 'all you can eat' buffet for 10 quid each. It is Indian style cuisine. The selection of offer is not huge but for the price it is certainly satisfying. The food is prepared and served in small portions so that is always hot and fresh. The range covers 'starters', 'mains' and 'desserts'. The place is licenced and alcohol prices are par for the course. We know many people who eat there regularly and we all have one question in common. I.E. Why is it that a venue that sells lovely food at value for money prices, has free, off road parking, relaxing and spacious decor, and attentive staff is always almost empty!!! A common rule is if an eatery is busy, the food must be good. So why is the Shimla always empty? But, guess what! Me and the missus don't mind because we don't have to put up with other peoples' screamin' kids. The Shimla is well kept secret and I hope it stays that way.

Come in all the time with the grandkids. Kids and I love the food and they also love to make a mess. Which the staff weren't annoyed at or anything. They even interacted with the children. Value for money here. My grandson loves the chicken pakoras. Wide open spaced for the double buggy so easy to move between tables.

First time eating here and the food was fabulous. Many different foods to choose from and great atmosphere. The staff are welcoming and are always on the move. Unlimited amount of ice cream! Would most certainly be back next week!

I booked shimla for a surprise birthday party for 30adults and 6 kids the staff were brilliant and could do enough for us they made the night a brilliant success! The food was good and they even made chicken nuggets for one of the kids who didn't like Indian. The meal deal with 5 drinks is really good!!! Would definitely recommend Shimla

First time here about a week ago - it was AMAZING. I will be back, best Indian buffet I have been too! I'm not even really a fan of Indian food, but I'm so glad we decided to come here and couldn't stop eating!!!!! Owners are very friendly and go out their way to help, not expense & all round good restaurant.

OK the buffet is limited but the food is excellent and the service is second to none.I recommend visiting on Thursday and you could visit the local market next door.My favourite sweet is here ... Indian cold rice hmm luvly hubby.Parking is good and is ideal for large parties etc.

We have eaten here twice recently and have been more than satisfied both times (couple and our 9 year old). Staff have been attentive but not overbearing. We have opted for the buffet selection (so can't comment on ordering a specific meal) and feel the value for money against the variety offered is very good. We will certainly be back and our daughter would like me to add 'Shimla palace is EPIC!'

I went for the buffet meal deal that gives you five drinks and the buffet. This is great value for money and the food is good. Have had better curries thus only 4 stars. Great staff, it must be said.
