Booked this restaurant for mothers day, on arrival the girls were given a glass of prosecco seeing as it was mothers daywhich was a nice touch. We all had the Sunday lunch which was very good. The beef was excellent very tender and tasty. There was plenty of veg and a good choice, the waitress even said if you want any more just ask. Service was excellent and efficient. Will definitely be coming back to eat here again.

We visited the tankerville restaurant on a Sunday , it was pre booked a week in advance we were looking forward to a carvery and were not advised on booking this would not be available . We ordered a chicken and beef dinner and a small portion of veg came separately. We were seated in the main room , others sat in the bar area , the room was cold and lacked ambience , the service was very good . It was not cheap two courses £15 each . The board outside advertised Sunday carvery , when we were in there , there was only another 5 diners it total . Would I visit again , probably not as a lot of other village pubs do Sunday lunch , so think they need to up their game .

The bar staff were more interested in talking about their 'sex' lives and ignored us for 5 mins!!! - we had two young children with us. We complained and spoke to someone called Sally who seemed to think it was funny!!! We sat at the table (eventually) with our drinks only to find dried food stuck to it and when we complained to staff got huge sigh from them and they reluctantly moved us. The new table was no better. The food was uncooked, the chicken was red and the service was appalling. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS.

Gran noche - Gracias chicos!

It's a few years since I have been here - great to be back! We had a traditional Sunday Lunch which was delicious!I rang early in the morning, and although it was fully booked was told if we didn't mind sitting in the bar area rather than the restaurant, we were welcome! It was really worth it - the bar area had others dining as well, and was a lovely area to sit and eat anyway! We both had Beef which was tender and delicious - the vegetables were numerous and plentiful, and both the Yorkshire Puddings, and Roast Potatoes were the best I have had for a long time! There was also a great choice of suites including Creme Brulet! After the meal the Chef came to say hello, and we were able to thank him for his excellent cooking! All in all a great experience - and judging by the number of customers including 2 birthday parties a very popular venue!

My sister who lives locally invited myself and my family (4&3 year old) over for Christmas Dinner at the Tankerville. The whole event was pitched perfectly with a very good 3 course meal (main course carvery was exceptional quality) surpassed only by the service we received. The owner(s)?? - Lady who welcomed us and the chef along with a small team of staff made the entire day a pleasure. Nothing was too much trouble...chef came out as Santa and gave a small gift to everyone, at the end of the meal the owner provided a decanter of port to the table, during the meal when my kids were beginning to get distracted the lady who welcomed us brought over a pack of crayons and a stack of paper in a very friendly and genuine way. I really cannot say enough about how hardworking yet natural the entire service was...Thank you all for making our Christmas Dinner one of the nicest in memory...

We have been to the TA on several occasions now for the Sunday Carvery. On every occasion the food has been excellent; it is not all laid our for hours to go cold and soggy, the vegetables are freshly cooked and frequently replenished so you tend to be guaranteed something worthwhile. The servings of meat are also fairly generous and the Desserts are homemade and really tasty. The welcome has always been warm and friendly, in particular for our little daughter. The Landlady, Chef and in fact are all the Staff are very accommodating and give the Pub a really nice relaxed atmosphere where you can feel at home.Certainly worth a visit, it's not far out of Shrewsbury and there are other Pubs nearby if you can find a designated driver!

After leaving Zip world later afternoon.yesterday, we decided to stop in Shewsbury for a bite to eat. We saw on a website that this pub was dog friendly so we went off the A5 to find this place. When we arrived around 7pm on Sunday evening, the Tankerville Arms was closed much to our disappointment. Our fault, we did not have reception on our mobile to look at properly, so now we had two children hungry and tired, as well as another 200 miles to go to get home. Sally (owners daughter) spotted me and immediately invited us in. We had a fantastic meal and, Sally and Jessie (true gent) were very good to us and our children as well as our tired Beagle. Thank you ever so much for your kindness - I just wish we were more local to you. we will be back though

Haven't been to my local for 5 years, very pleased to see it under new ownership. It has been thoroughly cleaned brand new kitchen and wooden floor in dining room. The new menu of both English and Chinese choices is proving very popular, the standard of food is excellent, be prepared to wait a little for your food as everything is prepared fresh. But rest assured the best Chinese food i have had in a long time. There is a great buz in the village again.

Very old fashioned, and shabby pub that smelt of a nursing home. Food was basic 2 meat carvery only and very boring vegetables that were a bit bland. Nice homemade puddings though. Overall Nothing exciting at all. Friendly service and good with the children but booked table for 1pm and we weren't allowed to sit down until they were ready for us, sat down at 1.30pm. Pub was filled with people of an older generation. I'm afraid we won't be returning.

Seemed like a great pub with a buzzing atmosphere, and nice to see space for drinkers and not just all tables, although there was still plenty of space for diners. We visited for Sunday roast, and while service was good and food was nice, the portions were tiny. I had roast chicken and it just didn’t fill me up at all. I would rather pay an extra few quid and have a proper lunch. Sorry, but only 3 star review due to me leaving hungry.

Lovely pub with excellent food. We arrived in a group of 7 adults and 3 children after my husband had just completed a sky dive for the Alzheimer's society. Even though we hadn't booked, we were seated very quickly, and the service was excellent along with the food 😀 I would definitely visit again! I would recommend you try the home made onion rings, they are amazing! Bit beware, don't order a portion each as we did, they're enormous! 🤣🤣
