Tandoori Indian Restaurant & Takeaway - Indian in Southampton

Took the punt and tried this place for first time tonight. Pretty disappointing. Madras tasted like tomato soup and Pathia wasn’t much better. Pool of water in with the rice and sagaloo looked and tasted like it had just came out a blender. Gutted

Just had anniversary meal. Great staff. Good food.will be going back again soon.

Phoned and ordered food from here last night was told it was an hour wait (which was fine) 1.5 hour later I called to see where my food was, person on the phone was very rude to me said my food would be with me in 5mins then he hung up on me. 15mins past from me ringing so I rang again to be told it’s on its way (he hung up again on me) We waited 2 hours for our food to arrive for it to be cold! Won’t be ordering again from here.

Always lovely food, good service and a good atmosphere. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of food.

We ate there yesterday early evening , the food was delicious and the staff were all happy and very smiley ,, good value for money , we will certainly go back again for another yummy curry

We order chicken tikka for starter and there was only 4 pieces which costed us 8 pounds .very expensive and staff was very rude because we were Indian and they were treating British people more nicely that what we felt .

Delicious food, best I've had for very long time. The restaurant was very busy but the waiter kept us informed on how long our food would be but we didn't have to wait longer than normal.

Rubbish not a madras not enough spice. Sauce was watery and chicken tough. Waste of money.

We went to this restaurant on the off chance for somewhere different, and we definitely found an absolute gem. STAFF FOOD BEER ON TAP you name it. It's everything you want. what a great place. I will be coming back very soon. Thank you.

Just got a taxi here 9:45pm to order some food was told to go away at the door and they are closed! It says on the website 11pm close what a let down

Food was beautiful, I can't say how much I love the Goan chicken curry. Staff friendly & attentive. Faultless.

I love the tandoori Centre, I had been using it for years and years, but just recently I’ve had orders that it just seems like I’m not being listened to properly. I will call back with a order that was delivered wrongly like if I asked for chicken curry and rice, the rice comes, thats ok. The nan bread would be wrong it would be a different kind of naan bread and then the chicken curry would be a vindaloo, so I told them this and they resent the order but they sent rice again being wrong again I called them And on the phone again he just seem like he wasn’t listening to me and again my order was wrong so for three times I got the wrong order and again he didn’t want to listen so I said to him that everything was wrong and just to forget it. I am writing this review on that delivery visit so I don’t want to be too hard on them as I think they have just forgot that the customer is key.

Lovely friendly ambience. Very tasty food, well prepared and less oily than a lot of Indian restaurants I’ve tried. Definitely recommend 😃

Great find for us as on our doorstep. ally our server was fab even though he seemed to be doing a 5 person job I.e waiting Tables answer the phone which constantly rang with takeaway orders & just eat orders coming through. Food was delicious but on the small side. Very clean 👌 decor nice we shall return

My wife and I always bet a Tandoori when we have a difference of opinion and with good reason. Meats are always tender and dishes full of flavour. Just as we sit down, we order popadom's and drinks, and before you're settled with a menu, they arrive! Eating and drinking whilst you choose your main meal, starters and all! It's the best curry house in Southampton... and we travel all the way from Wickham just for a guaranteed great curry. Love it, love curry, love Tandoori! :-)

The staff are very kind and even offered to take family photo of us. The food is beautiful and meat is the dishes is perfect. I like the fact that is menu is inclusive with an healthy option and dishes and desserts for people who are not so keen like prawn cocktail as a starter. Everything about the place is great and definitely coming back.

The food was bland I ordered garlic chicken, it was more like a tasteless masala with no garlic in it. The Onion bhajis were dry an flat like a cheap beefburger . My husband ordered chicken tikka maslas which was just tomato based sauce. An the garlic naan bread was dry and very flat. After reading the excellent reviews thought it was worth a try. Sorry never again would I order from here again. Very disappointed ex customer 😒.

So I'm going to say this restaurant makes the best naan and stuffed paratha I've had. Chicken and lamb Tikka also exceptional. I would highly recommend, the only thing is the service is quite slow (although very friendly) so make sure you have plenty of time

I regularly get takeaway from here but recently decided to dine in. The food was even better. As usual it was a very friendly atmosphere. They adjusted the food to meet my needs and service was fast. Also very well priced.

Firstly in their defence it was a Saturday night and very busy, we had phoned a week earlier for a table for 4 but they had over booked and we were left standing at the entrance whilst they performed headless chickens. Eventually sat us at a table for 20 mins with no drinks or menus then tried to take our order lol. Some but not all the food had disappointing flavour and parts of the order were missing but we were not charged for the missing dishes 👍 Thats why 3 stars. Hope this helps 🤞

1st time eating here,was brilliant, food came out for all 7 of us together and was piping hot. A very enjoyable relaxing night and the bill didn't shock us . Great night will be going back again and would recommend this restaurant. 👌

Ordered online for food, waited the given time that it said it would take (30-40min) , for them to cancel the order after waiting 45 minutes. I understand if they were busy but why make us wait till after the expected delivery time to then cancel the order. And make us wait 3-10 working days for the money back. Not impressed.

Disappointing take away this evening. Whilst the sauce was flavoursome the chicken was practically inedible. For the price paid for one meal (£16) I won’t be coming back.

Enjoy every time I go but the last time the service was a little slow and it was only 7.30pm, perhaps more staff needed but very nice staff.

Curry was good! Rice was disappointing....

Neither of us wanted to cook one lazy afternoon so my partner and I decided to head to the one Indian restaurant just down the road from our house: Tandoori. The restaurant set up was orderly and clean. Tables, each topped with neatly folded napkins on gleaming white plates, were perfectly arranged for guests that have yet to arrive. Everywhere were colourful framed photos of Indian festivals that contrasted greatly against what seemed like a recently refurbished brown walls. Inside was comfortable enough and once you've had hot spicy curry in your mouth, could be a bit warm. I ordered the lamb palak which was lamb meat stewed in cream, spinach and a variety of spices. My partner had chicken bathed in a creamy, golden yellow curry sauce. To complete the meal we also had a serving of both the coconut rice and the almond peshawar bread. Lastly, we shared a fudge sundae sort of dessert at the end of the meal. My food was delicious. I liked the lamb, which wasn't too spicy that I suffered although it had enough kick to make me feel flushed. The peshawar was soft and its almond filling offered a sweetness in each bite. The rice was delicate though lacking the taste of the coconut milk it was cooked in. However, the fudge sundae was just short of disappointing. The £4.50 dessert the size of a palm and clearly came out of a box hardly seemed worth it. Overall, I must say that our food experience, wasn't extraordinary. I've been to plenty of Indian restaurants and Tandoori was just... alright. The staff provided a friendly service. One member of staff whom I presumed was the owner personally came out to briefly chat and ask how we were doing. He was a bit shocked to find out that my partner and I had never been to his restaurant ever despite my partner having lived in the area all his life. In the grand scheme of things there was nothing about Tandoori that my partner and I would consider exceptional to make us rush back. The price was a bit steep and unfortunately the serving size (particularly the peshawar naan, coconut rice and dessert) didn't make up for it. In the end, my partner and I failed to realise that satisfaction you get once you know you've just experienced something amazing.

SHOCKING SERVICE. Ordered a takeaway and after arriving to collect and then waiting an additional 30mins had to leave with no food. Won't ever go here again. Always usually go to Massala in Woolston and the service there is great but we wanted to try the goan curry at Tandoori. What a complete waste of time and disappointment!

We have come down for the weekend to visit family and friends, we love Indian food and coming from bradford we know our curry's well. We had noticed this restaurant and decided to give it a try... and we was not disappointed at all. From the minute we walked in there was a welcome, even the little detail of having the door open for us. Staff where very attentive, polite and the food was delicious, we had a lot of curry's and this had to be far the best we have had! The food was flavorful and presented well, loved the hot napkin at the end of the meal also. Thank you again we will definitely be back! We highly recommend.

We have been there a few times now and asked what they can do vegan. They are always welcoming and happy to talk through the menu of what they can make vegan for us. Very lovely workers and usually get the order ready in 20 mins. Food is apsolutely gorgeous and seems to taste better every time. Definately recomend

Quite a large order at Tandoori Indian, I personally wouldn't recommend as it was a bit below par in comparison to other BIR restaurants. We all found the curries were quite thin I suspect that they do not hot fry the ingredients to thicken the sauce which probably means they are dishing all dishes out of separate batch cooked portions of each dish instead of a fresh cook with spices and a base gravy. The chicken was very dry. The addition of dips and a bag of onions and bits is a good extra. The price was expensive in relation to the food quality.

The food wasn’t brilliant, the naan bread and pompadon were over cooked and burnt. The pilau rice was colourless and a little insipid, while my review is rather negative we will try again to see if this was a one off poor quality.

We've had takeaway from and eaten at Tandoori on several occasions. The food is always excellent and very tasty. We particularly love how easy it is to order low oil and vegan options. The staff are always really welcoming and polite and the price is very reasonable. Would certainly reccomend!

The popadoms were stail the chicken seemed off and the chips looked like oilly dried chips never again worst meal I’ve had in ages

I'd actually passed this restaurant and takeaway many times before and never really given it a second thought. Then recently, I saw they had their windows smashed after England's loss in the Euro final and thought I'd order from Tandoori, as a way of helping support them. Oh my god. The food is delicious and I don't know why I'd never tried it before. Definitely the best Indian I've had in Southampton. I now only order from Tandoori. If you're looking to try somewhere new, I highly recommend!

The best Tandoori restaurant in Southampton.

Just had a curry delivered. Have had a curry from here previously and was amazing. I don't know if different owners or chef. Gutted it is extremely dry the nan bread so dry nothing inside. Bin job gutted and so sorry.

Placed an order for collection and it was ready when arrived which was a few minutes early which was great, food was amazing , nothing I could fault and it went down really well, would definitely recommend

Well I'm really surprised at other reviews here. The worst takeaway curry I've ever had. I've left 2/3 of it, it was cold when arrived, naan bread also cold and tough, ordered spinach BHAJIS and got green gloop in a dish. There was hardly ANY meat in my Bhuna...I have given up on it and thrown it in the bin as it was a poor example of a Bhuna taste wise. Will not order again.
