on a recent visit to St. Helens from Northampton, we popped in to Tanans. We had the fish special which is as by far the best fish and chips we have had in a very long time. The staff were warm welcoming and friendly. As I said the food was delicious. He fish batter was tasty and crispy as was the chips and mushy peas. Wish we could give more than 5 stars not only for the food and staff but it was excellent value for money.

This is one of the best Chip shops we have been to, the tiles around the walls etc gives a really old fashioned chippy feeling. The Cod with batter plus chips were really fresh and beautifully cooked, mine was served with really tasty gravy, my wifes with lovely Curry, and all served by the friendliest ladies.We have been to many chips shops over god knows how many years (including Rick Steins in Padstow - we think he should come to this Chippy and see proper Fish and Chips being fried and served with far better pricing...

My wife and I discovered this chippy after a recommend from a friend. The food is excellent and at a reasonable price. The specials on the menu are extreme!y good value and the establishment is very clean with very friendly staff. We now visit regularly and are always made very welcome.

I do like trying out fish and chips in different towns and this was as good as I have had. I don't usually have a good word for anything from St Helens being from Wigan but this is a great chippy. Nothing pretentious just very good food. Everything is cooked fresh to order and served with a smile. Told it was Scottish cod which was lovely and white with a very nice crispy thin batter. Chips crisp and dry served with mushy peas, bread and a cup of tea for 6.50pounds. Very good.

So glad your still there and going strong. I used to queue up with my grandma Alice with our plates when I used to come to st Helen's to visit. I'm 55 now lol. Up to last year we were able to bring dad back for at least a yearly visit. Hes sadly passed away Oct 12th 2018. But we shall be there friday lunchtime from Bournemouth before going to watch st Helen's rugby. Great service great food spotless. Thankyou again memories for our family we all tressure

Better than all the rest! Tanan’s Fish & Chips is a traditional old fashioned fish & chip restaurant. Table service with a friendly warm welcome and the food is top quality. You won’t find a better place doing what they do anywhere else on Merseyside. Visited with DD and grandson for our annual pilgrimage to St Helens on my dear mum’s anniversary. She loved St Helens and she loved this chippy. Although it’s changed hands since she passed. It’s still the same great plaice (😜) and quality. Delicious and only £10.90 for fish,chips & mushy peas and a fish & chips, two diet cokes. Restaurant was full very quickly. Top notch service with a warmth unlike anywhere. Just called in this chippy and the Wellcome was so warm and friendly.The staff are so helpful and the food is excellent.The service is second to none.

On shopping trip we fancied a bit of lunch so called in to this place. Very clean and a nice welcome from friendly staff. Ordered fish and chips and it was beautiful. Well cooked and served. Informed the fish was fresh from Scotland...( mine still had its kilt on ..lol ). Not really. My only slight disappointment was that although the chips were very nice, there were a lot of very small chips and bits that had to be left on plate. That said,we enjoyed our visit and have no hesitation recommending to others.

I took my family and granddad here today for the first time and had a cracking meal. Fish special for £6 was a huge piece of cod, chips, bread and butter and a tea. Food and service was excellent. Kids portions were huge too for only £3. Fab place. Thoroughly recommend to anyone.

We are so glad we have found this lovely chippie, everyone so friendly, food fantastic excellent value for money. When I told the lady it was my dad's birthday today, they made a big fuss of him and my him feel special. We live in Liverpool but whenever we come to St Helens it will be our first port of call. best wishes to all the lovely staff

Excellent hot and fresh fish and chips every time. The fish are enormous. Spotless premises, welcoming cheerful staff, nice atmosphere, good prices. Highly recommend this café. Try it - you wont be disappointed!

This restaurant serves the best Fish and Chips available in St Helens. There only used to be one Fish and Chip shop where people queue outside to get in. The service and food at this restaurant far out strips the service at other comparable restaurants we have eaten in.

New to the area so called in to what is obviously , judging by how busy , a good place to eat ... Welcomed straight away with Hellos from the Staff , served by a lovely waitress , ordered Spam Friiter Special , which comprised of Spam Fritter,Chips,Peas,Curry, Bread Butter & Cup of Tea for £4 , wow what a plateful , freshly cooked , tasted so good ...Definitely worth a revisit, really friendly , clean & welcoming ....
