I have been going here every week for years. Now looking for alternatives. The new manager is very arrogant and rude. Having witnessed his rude attitude to a customer on the phone, and his treatment of his young staff, I dread having him serve me. The other guy should crack a smile every once in a while, wouldn’t stop him being ignorant, but I don’t think I’d smile if I had to work with that manager. I’m assuming they are the reason that they are having a swift turnover of staff at the moment. Absolute shame. The girls that have been there for years are the only thing saving the place from being run to the ground. Always friendly and welcoming, though I doubt they’ll stay for much longer if he keeps treating them the way he is.

Turned up, no card facility. Went to the cash machine next door, out of use. They claim it is to keep prices down and yet they are the most expensive in town. If you want cash make it worthwhile for the customer! I will forget about this one.

Little over priced, had same meal elsewhere last week week for £1.10 less, for same quality and quality.

Omg I cannot believe the young girl this week. Speaks so rude to customers she must be maybe 14 and working in a chip shop. been going here for long time to get the wrong items in my bag. Kerry and other girls fancstic but wow this girl is unreal so rude

I’ve ordered from here many times and the food has always been nice imo. Today however was a different story. The chips I received were hard and disgusting, like they had been refried from last nights batch of unsold rejects. The sausage and gravy were definitely in the same boat, a hard crusty sausage surrounded by coagulated barely warm gravy. Looked more like custard to me. Gone to the dogs this place, won’t be returning any time soon.

Absolutely disgusting customer service. Asked for what I wanted was told had to have what was available picked something and then was given to someone else. Wouldn't make what I asked for as a customer. Sheer laziness and disgusting customers service with ignorant staff

As a regular customer for many years 3/4 times a week , It was always friendly staff that you could have a banter with, all the female staff have a smile on there face & was warm & welcoming . But since the new male staff arrive a while back the atmosphere has changed they are very arrogant & rude ,I have witnessed the new male staff belittle the female staff in front of the customer's, when the chippy is full of people, Since then I have to say I have stayed away and went elsewhere. It would of been a one star review only for so of the staff that would be unfair.

Who the hell does that new arrogant fella think he is? Love going in an getting served by Karen as she knows what she's doing but on Friday to hear some jumped up little s**t to hear him say you don't know what your doing then telling her not to come back well after that I won't be back hope owner reads this and sacks him and gets Karen back or you'll have no customers wake up your chippy going down the pan

It was a nice restaurant and im so glad that there wasn't a whole lot of fans there as I didn't get my chips stolen this time, i thoroughly enjoyed my trip to St Helens, such a nice community! 😁 (I gave it a 4 star because the fries where not salty enough)

absolutely dreadful. Started eating my chips to realise there were flies on them. flies were on more than one chip. couldn’t eat after. vile.

Absolutely love the food from here never been disappointed yet. But they have 4 people behind the counter, two serving the customers, and two cooks. One doing the Chinese dishes and the other English dishes. Service can be slow when there is only a few people in so it can be a long wait if it gets busy. And it can be confusing as to who is waiting to get served an those who have been served but are waiting for their food. But it's well worth the wait if you have got the time. Or if you make a telephone order to avoid the queue even better 👍

I have chips, hot curry sauce, kebab meat and onion and mushroom gravy which is all the best, 100 from me.

Lovely food, probably best chippy in town. Also, do chinese food, burgers and kebabs. Always good customer service, staff work hard and always busy but they make time to chat.

They are extremely helpful and the chinese was the best I've had in a long time. I cant believe I pass this place daily and it's my first visit.

Fish not big enough normal size that is chips soft not crispy so all in all for the price a bit expensive

Thieves beware! Swapped my freshly withdrawn £10 note for a fake in front of my eyes then tried to pass me the fake one back. Loyal customer who comes every week mugged off so they could swap a note they obviously got from someone else back. Well done you've lost money in the long run. Come here at your own risk. Thieves.

Called in opening time 16.15. The chips were warmed up from lunch time disgusting. (Don't say anything different as I have owned a fish and chip shop in the past!!)

Great chippy. Good prices and good range of food. Friendly staff who help with suggestions and advice.

How dare they serve uncooked donner meat! He would have known it was not cooked when slicing it from the spit.. It was also cold, so hadn't even been warmed!!

Theo’s Special Burger is by far the best burger I’ve had for ages, definitely try it again or another on the excellent menu. I’m full now 👍

Really nice fish and chips, first time I've tried the fish bites. Deffo recommend these instead of a fish. Melt in the mouth, loads of vinegar. 👍

Fast service good selection massive fish

First time visit.Fish, Chips ,Onion and Mushroom Gravy and Spicy Curry(just to sample).All really lovely.Fish batter a bit thick and soggy but chips to die for.And of course,Washed down with a mandatory dose of Dandelion and Burdock which is a must with Fish and Chips.Would recommend.Will return.Staff also very friendly.

Call in on the odd occasion for my sons tea on dad day, he always enjoys it and I always order large chips so I can make a chip butty.

Must be the best chippy in St. Helens. I’ve never seen so many people queue for a chippy. The portion sizes are really good, price is reasonable, staff are friendly and they do a host of other food other than chips. Definitely recommend this place!

Busy fish and chip shop, also doing great western style Chinese menu, kebabs, burgers etc. Very good, very fresh fish and chips that I'm prepared to travel for now I'm not local. Service is fast, professional and friendly. Highlight has to be the savouries (battered minted fish cake ball) which are found in fewer and fewer places these days. Try one, trust me they're awesome. Only downsides, parking can be a bit hit and miss at busy times and it's cash only, no contactless.

Sorry to say that my last few visits have been disappointing ,normaly gets a 10 out of 10.The quality of the food has been below it's normal high standards lately,time to change your potatoes the chips were greasy look warm and full of eye's and half of them wear grey inside.The fish was very dry not your normal standard Sorry but I will give you a miss for a month are so

Generally order by phone and everything ready when we go to collect. Excellent tasty fish with not too much batter. Batter is nice and crispy. Cheerful and friendly service. I would definitely recommend for a tasty fish super.

What a fantastic chippy! But they don't just make the tastiest fish, with light batter and big chips to go with it, they also have a big menu of food including Chinese they have kebabs and some really good ideas for a lunch or dinner time meal, they have an offer either chicken or beef then you choose the meal blackbean sauce was one but many more with rice or chips for £4. I think it might be a slightly smaller version all in one tray so no mixing or plates needed perhaps. If so what a good idea. Staff are hard working and nice. Cash Only...... No cards sorry. They have a process in place to keep us safe but don't forget your mask.

Lovely fish & chips, if a bit pricy

Alright weird review time. It was absolutely packed on a Friday night with a que out the door. (Knew it must be worth it) but to be fair we flew through to the front due to swift service. The staff was excellent and real friendly. But being so busy it understandably my order got mixed up at the counter with it being so busy, so instead of my 1x chicken burger & chips 2x chips, peas, pie and gravy I recieved 3x donner kebabs (would of demolished anways it if the girls ate doner) Of course i was fuming lol so i walked back in the cold to sort it out to my surprise when i went through the door like a bull in a china shop. They had already realised the error and was already cooking up a fresh order and to top it off they even gave me a free 2l coke. Eventually got home and i can say safely hand on heart it was one of the best chippys ive ever had! I would and will make this my weekend treat every weekend being new to the area. They deserve the 5 stars if not 6 stars for being absolute champs about the situation. If you havent tried it yet. Give it a go!

First time at the tasty corner 5 month ago food was really lovely . Been twice since and food was horrible. Chips tasted like they had been cooked in dirty oil , curry had no taste was like water. Sausage wasnt cooker proper. What a waste of money all food when straight in the bin

Found this just after lockdown. Have really struggled to find a good fish and chip shop since moving to St Helens and finally hit gold. The food is lovely, good portions and fresh food. The service is excellent as well and have found the staff friendly and nothing us too much trouble, I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Popped in to the Tasty Corner for some fish and chips at lunch time today. The food was lovely and so was the service however I didn't like or appreciate the chinese chef shouting all over the chippy that he had Coronavirus. I work for the NHS and the current situation is no joke. If the chef is positive for COVID-19, he should not be in work and risks infecting other staff and customers. Would appreciate it if management could look into this as this is a serious matter!!

Always enjoyed the food but I won't be going back again. Why let customers like on top of each other in a takeaway in this pandemic? What's the point in telephone orders if your made to queue, I don't want to be packed in with others at the moment thanks. It feels very unsafe in there, such a shame to experience this, sort your safety out!!!! Will not be going back so disappointed with that experience.

The man putting salad on my burger used tongs to pick up the lettuce and then used his fingers to pick up the slices of tomato. What is the point? In the middle of a virus outbreak too.
