Tamburino Village in Mendip

Great food as always. We love eating specials at Tamburino and our kids always love their pasta more than other places. We're not locally based but we love to travel 1h or so for a delicious lunch or dinner. Would definitely recommend the food and will always return for more. Thanks!

I am sure Tamburino is very nice but I was eating at the Bull and Bar next door which was a very pleasant experience 😁

Immediately from walking in the customer service was excellent. Extremely polite and helpful guy. Restaurant was very clean and food was good. Pizza dough was fresh and the past sauce I had was very tasty. Great experience

Horrible! Table for 6 with a booking and they got late and the attitude was not the best. We ordered the drinks and then the food and between the order and the main course was more than 1h. The starters came before the drinks. Service is just basic, there's just one waiter with excellent service (Giovanni). The music was absurdly loud, which made people talk even louder and the noise was completely unbearable. The starter was good enough but the mains were nothing special and in my case the risotto was inedible and flavourless and had no salt. Definitely not worth the money!

Very poor. Had pre booked for a birthday meal but table was not ready and put by drafty front door. Food was average and had to ask for things that had been forgotten. Not great.

We had a large group meet up pre Christmas. Everyone in the group said how good their food was, a mix of pizza, pasta and Christmas dinner, and the staff couldn't do enough for us. There was a mix up with one of the meals, we had to preorder as we were a large group, but the staff were super helpful and quick to rectify the issue. The restaurant was quiet when we first arrived, although we had booked for an early lunch, and the atmosphere gradually picked up. Would definitely recommend.

My family first attended at Tamberino in Sherborne five years ago, we didn’t think much of this restaurant, just highly priced food, our next attendance was in Yeovil and was very impressed with the food and started making it our favourite place to go as the food was exquisite for 4 years, last year we booked our table for Christmas Day, the food was ok but felt we were just a number and were rushed through the 6 course dinner, even this was the case we tried book for this years Christmas Day but left it too late so the restaurant was fully booked but it was suggested to us to book at the Street Tamberino, well let’s say our food was cooked to perfection, our atmosphere was warm and welcoming and the service was carefully timed, without us having felt rushed, I also met the part owner who in fact was the head chef and congratulated him with his stunning food, I’ve travelled the globe and his food was out of this world and worth every penny.

DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU LIKE ACTUAL ITALIAN FOOD!!! Shares the same problem with most "Italian" restaurants in the UK: The pizza was thickcrust and not tasting good. Italian pizza is thincrust. I looked at the menu and decided not to get the carbonara because CARBONARA SHOULDN'T CONTAIN CREAM; You get the creaminess from the egg, cheese and starch water not cream*. There was a very annoying interruption for an indoor firework** and way too loud happy birthday. In conclusion, you're better off going to an airport and booking a flight to Italy. *Due to bad translation of carbonara having a "creamy" texture and taste, somebody decided to put cream in it. **Basically a big sparkler. The smell from it was horrible.

Very friendly atmosphere, the service was also very good and the food was delicious. It is expensive and so are the drinks, but a lovely place to go on special occasions. The toilets are upstairs so that can be limiting for some, when dining in.

Couldn’t fault it. Very extensive menu with something for everyone. Friendly, attentive staff who offered great service, food was great and atmosphere was very good. Would definately recommend.

Work Christmas Festive Lunch. Great service, great food and great value.

Booked a table a few weeks ago for the music night. Confirmed the booking over the phone on 3rd December. We had a slight change to our booking so rang to confirm only to be told that they had no record of our booking. Very rude and not helpful. We have frequently visited for years and the staff have always been helpful. Not this time. Some one needs to sort out the booking system. Good luck to anyone else turning up tonight.

Really friendly efficient service, and the grub wasn't too shabby either Veggie option was very good according to my veggie missus, and my pizza was excellent

Ordered takeaway and the pasta with salmon and prawn had hardly any sauce at all and was dry , the lasagna was just tomato and meat and sheets no white sauce can make better at home and calamari was soggy . Waited for a long time for it to be ready . Definetly worth the money very disappointing and wouldn’t go again

Positive visit. Delicious food, attentive staff. The price was outside our normal range but I could see us coming back to celebrate a birthday (especially having seen the firework fountain and cake that arrived at another table along with tambourines!)

Music was too loud and intrusive. Food was over priced and there was an automatic 10% service charge. Waiter was always pushing extras that we didn't want.

Food was okay, but sadly I couldn’t taste or see any goats cheese on the pizza I ordered, which it was supposed to have. The main flavour was the blue cheese. One of the staff members were quite rude too, and gave the impression that they were waiting for us to leave so they could eat their own food, which they then started to do sat opposite us before we’d even paid our bills.

Went for the first time last night and what an experience! I had pizza and my partner had a calzone. They were both exquisite and full of flavour. I'd say the best pizza I have ever had! (Dominoes has nothing on this!) They also had live music which was so good and made the atmosphere so fun (lots of people dancing). Overall this was an easy 5/5 experience and we will be coming back.

Took some friends for a meal here last Thursday, food was mediocre, service was poor, had to keep asking/reminding staff of our drinks order. When paying the bill my husband was twice informed by the waiter that it didn't include a service charge, more or less asking for a tip, my husband paid the service charge though I wouldn't have as the service was nowhere near up to their usual standards. As we left at 10.20pm by the rear entrance the outside was in complete darkness, you couldn't see a thing, it would be a great idea to leave the lights on so customers can see where they are going. Not impressed.

I'm here in the UK on holiday and went in due to the great reviews. I can say they deliver! The food is outstanding and the portions are just right. The wait staff and servers were very professional and friendly even on a hectic and busy Saturday; we had eaten here on Friday and had to come back! I never do that.

Just had a lovely lunch the muscles were devine and the cheesy tomato mushroomy thing the wife had looked and tasted great followed by goo.

We were hopeful in booking as staff were Italian. Menu has some lovely items and is well thought through: a good mix of salads, pizzas, pastas, meat and seafood dishes. Sadly, the food was only so so. Service was friendly and efficient but atmosphere wasn’t cozy. Prices were very reasonable.

Excellent lunchtime meal today. Amazed how efficient Carmine and his team managed the flow of food and drinks. Will definitely visit again when next visiting Clark’s.

Busy but helpful staff, well worth a visit

Very nice pizza and pasta, nice portion as well. We'd like to order dessert but too full after the mains. Definitely recommend this restaurant.

Such a nice restaurant. Superb seafood rissoto and friendly efficient service. Had Sunday lunch here and it was faultless.

Lovely food very well made. Had the focaccia to start which was very nice, not too garlic-y and proper dough. Then for main I had spaghetti carbonara with chicken added, which had lovely al dente pasta. The service was great, everyone was friendly. The only thing was it was very quiet when I went in and was put in a dark corner of the restaurant when there were lots of other tables.

The best…a 70th surprise birthday was held here, the staff couldn’t be more helpful plus the food and atmosphere was brilliant, and a bonus was the live music…everyone had a great night, well done!

Booked a table on a busy Saturday night, the place was packed, so obviously popular! Friendly, helpful staff, lovely food. It was noisy, but it was busy. My partner is a bit deaf, but we could still hear each other, lol! Steps up to the main restaurant. There are a few tables down on the ground level if anyone needs level access. We would recommend Tamburino Village.

We took two friends along, meself and hubby, and it was our first time at Tamburino. Lovely foods but pricey. Didn't expect service charges added to the bill? Hubby had walking problems and claimed up few steps to use the toilet. What would happen to someone who's in a wheelchair, they wouldn't be able to use the toilet?

As expected my pasta was outstanding 🇮🇹 So cheesy and flavourful, and the staff did not skimp on the parmesan or black pepper. Definitely the place to go to have a cheerful birthday celebration. The staff were exceptional, very professional and zooming around the restaurant. It was quite busy on a Thursday evening but as there's so many tables avaliable I think you can get away without having to reserve for weekdays. The menu is huge, definitely something on there to please the fussiest of eaters and foodies alike!

Absolutely wonderful staff, fantastic place and the food was incredible!

We were visiting Street for a few days and both love Italian food, so we decided to treat ourselves. And we were so glad we did. The antipasto to share was amazing. My wife had the veal cutlet and I had the Italian beef stroganoff for our mains, which were both mouth-wateringly tasty. We finished off with the almond semifreddo and coffees. A fantastic meal, excellent service and a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Next time we're in Street, we'll definitely be back.

Couldn’t fault it. Great starters and great pizzas. Staff very friendly and service good. Not overly priced which in this day and age is a blessing. Parking is poor. They have parking at the rear but not a huge space. Parking on the street is a nightmare. They did have my favourite - grappa. That with an espresso - 👌

Had a lovely meal with friends, but service was very slow and not very organised, especially as we had pre-ordered.

My family and I have had the pleasure of eating here twice. Both times the food and service has been outstanding. On both occasions the staff interacted with my toddler and gave him little treats, acts like this set the tone and lead to really lovely atmosphere. We cannot wait to return for a third visit.

LOVE THIS PLACE! The food is amazing, the lobster tagliatelle is superb as is the black ink pasta with cuttlefish. Great inside, authentically Italian. You must try it, you won't be disappointed. The staff are so attentive too

Wow, what a great place to go out and eat. The atmosphere was just out of this world. It felt comfortable and bubbly with a great vibe that felt like we were eating out on holiday. Great food served in good time. It's great to see a lot of home made deserts as you don't see that too often. We also had super service from all the staff. If you are here for a birthday you should mention it to the staff for a great celebration from the whole restaurant. Will definitely visit again.
