Great restaurant, great vibez, food wasn't all that though,Ordered the thali with mixed veg n meat dishes, there was no flavour in the veg dishes butter chicken was nice but lamb curry the lamb was a bit tough. Hence, why gave the food 3 starz!!

Best Indian food in Birmingham!

We got there at 5pm and had the BOGOF Cocktails which was on until 7pm. Absolutely loved the Chaat Bomb which I've never had before. Then had the Butter Chicken curry with Naan. Will definitely go back again

Lost a group booking because website said no spaces. Just happen to pass and place was half empty at the time I wanted to book. Needs fixing...

Really nice staff, Claudia G my waitress extremely professional, felt very comfortable alone... Very Short wait as was packed...but can now see why a short wait.. very comfortable waiting area...food.... was sooo nice, just the right place for the hotness, not pain... Veggie menu ♥️ definitely a 5/5 recommended eat!

No fuss indian street food. Quick but excellent and friendly service. It's very busy but tables turn around quickly so my 25 min wait was actually less than 10 and i enjoyed a drink at the bar while waiting. Food was very good, tasty, hot, nice and fresh. It is a chain so while the food is consistently good, it lacks that wow factor that you sometimes get at independent restaurants...and it's quite pricey for what it is, but i wouldn't say ridiculously so. I'll definitely return when i'm next in the area, it's perfect for dining alone due to the busy atmosphere and quick turn around.

Very surprised by the quality of the food as it looks like a chain restaurant from the millies. Really nice flavours and fresh food.

Great food, great service. We went for a bottomless brunch and the waitress was very helpful and attentive. Asked us if we were ready for new drinks, the food was amazing too. The only thing that let this place down was I felt it was too cramped, if you were of a larger size or disabled, it's quite difficult to get around the tables.

I don't visit the city centre often, but when I do a tamatanga visit is a must. Butter chicken and chilli cheese naan is so delicious.

Amazing experience! My friends and I booked a table for 10 at Tamatanga for a birthday meal and we had a really lovely time. We received a warm welcome at the door and were given a little time to settle in before we ordered. Lizi did an amazing job of looking after our big table despite how busy the restaurant was (it was quite a lively Saturday evening). All of the staff were really friendly and attentive throughout the meal— especially when they brought out a cake & candle for our friend to make the night extra special! Our food was delicious and came out so quickly, as each plate arrived as soon as it was ready. As a vegetarian, I was really happy with the selection: the menu listed vegetarian and vegan options in their own sections which made it really easy to compare all of my options. There was also a dedicated gluten free section, which must be very helpful. My Saag Paneer was incredible, as was the side of Chaat Bombs that I split with a friend (the sides were a great size for the price). I've added a photo of the Delhi Lamb Curry which my friend really enjoyed. Alongside our food, there was a range of fun cocktails to choose from— all with great presentation— while the soft drinks were similarly varied and refreshing. We were so full after our desserts, despite walking into the restaurant absolutely starving, and our bill was really reasonable. I can see why it was so busy! Thank you to everyone at Tamatanga who worked so hard to make our birthday meal special, we'll be looking back on this happy memory for a long time :)

The food is delicious but the service isn't. From the moment we walked in we didn't feel like very welcomed. The tables were very close to each other. And on top of your food they charge you extra 10% which isn't mentioned on the menu or beforehand. If you're looking for going somewhere to get food with family, I don't think it would be the best option.

One of the best Indian restaurants i have ever been too. Food was exceptional. Staff were really nice. Place was very busy mid week. Definitely a must visit.

Chose tamatanga for a meal with friends for a little celebration after a recommendation from a friend. Friends were from outside Brum and were suitably impressed with food and service and had a great time.

We had to wait a while for our table, however it didn't matter, because we knew the food and service would compensate for the wait...delicious taste food 😋

Staff are super friendly and nice, we booked a table early Saturday evening and it wasn't too busy but the vibe was great. We shared a tamatanga feast and a tamatanga thali and the food was amazing!!!! Couldn't fault it would definitely come back!

We had the pleasure of visiting the tama Birmingham after a close friend recommended it, when we were planning for a celebratory meal after my graduation at Symphony Hall. So glad we did! Stunning cocktails, beautiful proper Indian food, spot on customer service, great vibe, all in all love it!! We are Indians so hard to please, even my fussy chef husband was blown away! Your tama thali was to die for, and oye hoye Chicken Khurana you stole my heart! A special mention to rhubarb and bramley apple gin. You made my day. Thank you!

Waited 25 min for table not bad for a Saturday night! Vast menu options even non alcoholic drinks pretty good! Super tasty food, had to wait quite a lot longer for one dish than the rest but I guess that’s what happens when it’s all freshly made. Really very cramped seating, tables close together, all packed constantly, not great for disabled access at all. Menu stated that a tip will automatically be added for groups over 6, so as a 2 we didn’t expect it to be automatically added. Didn’t feel the service was remarkable enough to warrant a tip over £7 to be honest but it was far too loud and busy to ask to have this removed, usually I’m one to tip a few quid happily. Would probably go back when it’s quieter in the day time

Good service and portion sizes, but the mocktails aren't included in the brunch menu.

So, we visited this place on Saturday, Its one of the busiest Indian restaurant in Brum. the vibe and ambience is great. Food is also up to the mark. We had Garlic chilli chicken with garlic naan, masala chips and kids meal. All were scrumptious. Only negative (or be mindful) fact is that 'for the portions served, it seems a little expensive.

What a lovely experience for dinner. Drinks were super nice food was beautiful and service was really nice swift and professional and friendly. We really enjoyed it and can’t wait to come back .

Went to meet a friend , unfortunately I was running late as there was 3 ambulance, 2 fire engine and a police car as I was coming into Birmingham so I'd had to veer of my turning for the car park and come back on myself. My friend was on the phone to me as the server was asking what she wanted to order and i was t even sat at the table, id have liked to have been given a chance to look at the menu myself . However my friend had ordered and we sat in a window seat which was nice. Would say the tables are pretty close together and people were talking loudly given we were talking Iver the people next to us. Have to say the chicken tikka rice and peshwari naan, were well presented and at a reasonable price. The server asked if everything was ok , and the food had only been put on the table, i uadnt even tried it!. The food did taste lovely though, lots of chicken , good size portion would be tempted to go back if I'm in the area. I'd say the only thing that I'd recommend is for the servers to relax, not everyone wants to rush their food experience.

The experience here was great, it's my first time visiting and the customer service was amazing, Sanija K was really nice whilst attending to us and made sure you were fine. The ambience and aesthetic are great as well, love the mirrors! Loved the food, well seasoned and cooked. I had the Tama feast with rice. The drink was refreshing, absolutely loved the Bombay cooler. All in all, everything was nice. Thank you!

We had the thaali and the lamb curry which was excellent. As a Malaysian Indian i've always been abit skeptical of Indian food in the UK but this definitely hit the spot for my south indian palate - the food was proper spicy and they even had sambal potatoes as part of the thaali which I loved. The only thing was that when we put one of our dishes that we were done with on the empty table beside and apologised to the waiter cos our table was getting really crowded with stuff she gave us an angry face and snatched it off and went off to complain to her colleague abt us which was a slight sour moment. One suggestion is maybe let us have two different cocktails for the 2 for 1 cocktails. We'd be more interested in ordering more if we knew we were getting variety.

Great offer for £15 at lunch for a drink, curry and rice/naan. Really good food and a cheap fairly quick eat in city centre. Chicken Khurana curry and cheese naan best thing since sliced bread. Thanks tamatanga.

Finally tried Tamatanga, sooooo tasty! I had Tarka Daal with rice and a side of vegan naan 10/10! the vegan naan was so good, unlike any other vegan naan I’ve tried before

Went for lunch. A lot of stuff clearly reheated from day before. Lamb taco was not good. Salad from previous day was brown. Heard good things before going, disappointed with this

Came for a banging bottomless brunch klaudia recommended the Watermelon Sugar she gave us excellent customer service and interaction, very attentive and friendly nothing was too much highly recommended the place 😀 👌🏾 considering I'm not a fan on Indian cuisine.

We was seated straight away tables are quite small tbf service was good ish don't like taking your emptys away. The food was plentiful both the wife and i did not finish. Don't go mad on ordering would be my advice. I had the prawn curry it was very hot 🔥 🥵 be warned ⚠️. Naan breads was fresh staff was pleasant clean and tidy . Bit expensive I would say.

What a great find, service was exceptional, staff very friendly, food absolutely delicious. We had poppadoms & chutneys, chaat bombs, onion bhaji, peshawar naan, 2 x chicken khurana, 2 x green lamb curry, all with rice. Wine, cobra, Desserts. All this for 4 people £128 very good. Our 2 friends from North Wales & us 2 from Bristol definitely recommend this place.

Visited this restaurant before heading to the Utilita Arena for a concert. Around 10-15 minute walk from the arena. Decor and ambience was cosy, funky and inviting. Staff were all friendly and welcoming. Didn’t manage to get the gentleman’s name….but very helpful, advising my partner to download the app, so we were able to claim a discount on our meal. The food was comforting and yummy. Good value for money. Would definitely recommend if visiting the arena or Birmingham city centre.

Got the paneer makhani with a garlic naan and some chilli cheese pops which were all delicious! Very accommodating to a last minute large group, food came in good time and everyone was happy with their meals! Would love to come again next time I’m in the city

Tamatanga is a tasty and reliable Indian chain restaurant for lunch/dinner that's close to New Street Station and the Mailbox. The food and service is always nice but it is not as good value as it was a few years ago and the prices are a bit high now for the fact that it's a chain.

Been here several times and it never disappoints. The staff are amazing, attentive and super friendly. My friend and I got caught up chatting, probably far outstayed our welcome but they were so welcoming, and even brought us a drink whilst they were cleaning around us and told us not to rush! Food was amazing - always try different things and not been disappointed yet. I'll be back :)

Myself and my partner went to this restaurant during our short stay in Birmingham. It was by far the best food we ate during our stay. Full of flavour. The staff were very friendly and provided excellent service. The food was incredible. I cannot recommend this place enough.

A very popular Indian restaurant in the centre of Birmingham, near the grand central station. Food was very flavoursome and tasty, a great place if you enjoy spicy food too. A good variety of vegetarian options, but there could be more.

Service and atmosphere beautiful, food was mid - should be on the levels of dishoom, but on the levels of no flavour

Wasnt really my cup of tea. Someone took me here, I didn't choose it myself because I don't eat in these sort of places. It's an Indian style restaurant and I prefer Pakistani and middle eastern cuisine. The food itself is halal but they serve alcohol in there so it smells like a pub. That kind of put me off my food. Some islamic scholars say if the environment is haraam and then so is the place itself. I refer to a Hadith which states if you sit with them then you are part of them. So I won't be going 🔙.

The place is very nice, and I have nothing negative to say about the staff—they were courteous and even served tea after the meal. I did find the food lacking a bit of spice, as I was expecting something more akin to Indian cuisine. However, the quality of both the food and service was still quite good. I have pending things to try next time

Asked to split a bill - said this is okay will get individual itemised VAT receipts. Paid and then told it can’t be done but then it was done but then to be told £30 is still outstanding once all balances are paid and being told I must pay again and being accused of theft ain’t nice…..

I have never said the word “wow“ to any restaurant but Tamatanga deserves it they told us to wait 15 mins, they got us a table in 5 mins I was amazed the service was so fast 💨 our food came in 5 mins after we ordered 😍 the food was surprisingly delicious 🤤 I got the butter chicken curry with rice top notch 👏🏽 and my friend got masala chicken curry with cheesy naan 🫓 Omg the cheesy Naan is my next order I kept taking bites from my friends naan 😂👌🏾

Their policy of not bringing food from outside was ridiculous as my children who can't any food from take aways or restaurants for medical reasons wasn't allowed to enjoy family time during this visit. Nice Indian food, great portions and good service

Done so many bottomless brunches. This was by far the best. The food was individually prepared and to and excellent level but it was the drinks. No watery cocktail substitutes and no managing the drinks orders to a minimum. Excellent. Highly recommended.

I've been here to eat I'm several times and have ordered takeaway via deliveroo. Everything I have ordered has been delicious, I particularly want to mention the Chilli Cheese Naan which is fantastic, filled with melty cheese and cooked beautifully I would happily come here just for them alone! The place has always been quite busy each time I've visited, it has generally had quite a loud background level, you need to raise your voice a little to be heard by others at your table at times. This isn't a problem generally, but for my wife who has a hearing impairment this makes following conversations in a larger group (greater than 4) very difficult. Overall I would strongly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys Indian food but wants to try it done in a slightly different way.

10/10! The portion size, taste, service, price... Everything was perfect.. a curry bowl is enough for a person. Had chicken tikka masala with rice, paneer makhni with garlic naan and both dishes were amazing. Huge quantity, I thought I might need more bread but 2 naans were enough. The curry was still remaining and I ordered one more naan but you get it as 2 small naans. Tummy full! We really enjoyed the Tama chips! Blend of taste! Mango lassi was one of the best I have ever tried in the UK.

Proper indian food with enough quantity

This is one of the place where you can just buy happiness ! Oh please just come, you won't be disappointed ! Not in the slightest, it's simply one of the best place for indian food in the entire midlands! The food are just simply splendid and the cheese naan is just 💋❤️‍🔥 say no more just come ! One downside: the toilet isn't the cleanest, the loo is quite dirty tbh!

Pleasantly surprised! We were in Birmingham and needed somewhere to eat and this place was literally the first place we saw. Food was amazing and service was top! Food came out so quick. Can’t say anything negative! Everything we ordered was lovely. Mango lassi was one of the best we’ve ever had. The guy who took our order was great, asked if we’d ever been before and then explained how it worked, recommended dishes. Will definitely be going back next time we’re in town!

doesn't show HALAL sign anywhere?? they say they do halal but no signs on door or on website, abit strange as to why they don't show it if it really is halal! traveled from london, i enjoyed the tamatanga thali, only confusing bit was they chose the veg dish for u? also it says it comes with daal of the day too but i didn't get any daal? u can only chose 2 curries?
