I am concerned by the review by Jayne from December 2024. Tamar Valley Garden Nursery does not serve cooked meals, only cakes and drinks. I think her criticisms were following an experience at Tamar View

Jeanette makes the best cakes ever. Lovely coffee to go with them also. We really look forward to visiting this cafe. The nursery is also good and the shop is very useful too.

Came across this gem while on the Tamar Coast to Coast walk, walking from Gunnislake to Calstock. This nursery is mentioned in the book but not named. Thoroughly recommend you drop by. Great coffee, clean toilets and warm welcome from Mark. The nursery is a work in progress but what he has achieved in 3 years is amazing. Good luck for the future.

This is a fabulous well stocked nursery and small shop tucked away in the valley, and an ideal place to stop for a coffee as you come down the footpath from Gunnislake. Super friendly staff, and on a fine day you can sit and look out across the valley. Cheese scones are excellent!

Lovely friendly owner took the effort to look after us. He served us with home made cheese scones with cheese and locally made chutney. There was a great little gift shop at the entrance to the main nursery selling plants

Best, fist sized scones in Cornwall! Ideal temperature of clotted cream melting into your jam. Eat two, I dare you!

We weren't staying at the hotel, but did visit several times for meals and drinks in the hotel bar & dining area which is open to non-residents. Bar manager Andrew has a real committment to the quality of the cask St Austell beers served here, and it shows! Every pint was in perfect condition, and they have a range of bottled St Austell beers and other drinks as well (soon to be joined by local Cornish wines I believe). Extensive menu of pub food classics including a range of homemade soups. Portions are large! A very welcoming place to relax when visiting St Austell.
