Was delighted to find this restuarant in an out of the way neighborhood near our hotel in London. Having previously eaten at Tamada, we decided to try their cooking masterclass. We opted for a three-hour option for two. That included cooking Georgian starters and tasting those with a glass of wine. That was great fun. The class is suitable even for people without much cooking experience. Apparently, Georgian cooking is a simple and enjoyable process with guaranteed success. Our chef Tamara was great and guided us through the recipes with a lot of passion and dedication. Also she was brilliant in tolerating our lack of cooking talent :-) After the session, Tamara shared the recipes and the list of ingredients. I'm excited to cook some more of those delicious Khachapuri at home.

Five of us, so we could sample each other's choices, For starters we had a cold meze, kachapuri bread and blini. I thought the meze might not be very different from, say, Turkish meze, but it was - the Citeli Lobio, mashed up red beans with walnuts, herbs, garlic & Georgian spices, was delicious, as was Badrijani, pan fried aubergine rolls with onions, spices, garlic and walnuts. The bread was stuffed with a cottage cheese, warm and good. Mains: the lamb dish came with a heavy taste of tarragon, so that was a unusual for me. Chicken roast also with tarragon. the beef and pork dumplings had a herby flavour too, so we were beginning to get the gist of Georgian spices. Rattatouille recommended. The dumplings should really be to share rather than one person's main, as they are quite large, and there were at least 5 of them. Georgina coffee comes with a small bite of their walnut cake - really recommend you order the walnut cake as a full portion too - the walnuts are minced up into almost a mouse. The Mukuzani red wine was very smooth and light.

Enjoyed a leisurely lunch on a beautiful late summer Sunday afternoon in September with my wife and son near his current home in Maida Vale. We started with the cold vegetable meze followed by the excellent Tabaka (chicken roasted in a garlic & coriander sauce), Jarkoe (baked veal with cheese & potatoes) and Khinkali meat dumplings. The traditional Georgian cuisine at this small restaurant in St John's Wood is unique and I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys cuisine from the Eastern Mediterranean & Black Sea regions of Europe and the Middle East.

Really excellent genuine Georgian food with a small but quality wine and beer selection. The native Georgian staff are very competent, patient and friendly. As other reviewers have noted, no it's not cheap, but then again it depends on your frame of reference. If you are comparing it to Georgian restaurants in Tblisi or even Moscow for that matter, it is more expensive. If you expect it to be the same price as your local Indian then again, yes it is more expensive. But I don't believe the prices compare unfavourably with other Georgian restaurants in London and in my opinion this is the best one. And it is significantly cheaper than high end establishments. I am lucky to live nearby and go there often.

This is one of the very few Georgian restaurants in London and definitely a very good one. Khachapuri was great (though I have a small complaint about the fact there's only 2 types of it, while traditionally there's several more), the dumplings were great too, probably with a touch less herbs than you'd normally find them (for me a good thing). Not many deserts on offer, which is a bit of a shame, but the one I had (a walnut cake called "ideali") was very good.

This is the third time I have been to this restaurant. The quality and genuineness of the food is consistent. This is good earthy central asian food which is quite tasty. thr starters or mezze are excellent. Everyone enjoyed their main course whether stuffed cabbage or Russian style filled dumplings or meat. But the best was to come - an outrageously delicious cake for desert made from honey, almonds and cram an absolute must. The cheaper wine was excellent and very reminiscent of a fulsome Spanish red. ...but unfortunately it isn't. It's a cross-town return trip that I've been meaning to make for a long time. Tucked in a little enclave of neighbourhood joints off Abbey Road, Tamada offers food you won't find everywhere. iMicca is very much mistaken, unless I am very much mistaken - there are at least 4 other Georgian restaurants and if iMicca thinks this is pricey, s/he should steer well clear of at least two of them.Yes Georgian food is very cheap in Georgia. Tbilisi rents are a fraction of St John's Wood - only one of the most expensive areas of the capital. Also, it's not very cheap to bring stuff from there to here because the demand is small. I'll also warrant that very few of the regular vintners serving the London restaurant trade carry an interesting list of Georgian wines. Yet the wines are listed at fairly standard London prices. I don't recall wine being particularly cheap in Tbilisi. I also don't recall it being as good as the wines they've unearthed here. I didn't venture near the red side of the list. Georgia's flinty white wines are more to my taste.Khachapuri (addictive gooey cheese bread) is cheap in Georgia and the £7.50 price tag does seem hefty until you consider that if you rolled out that dough flat and chucked the cheese on top and called it pizza, you would probably be charging more for it even in a chain. And it is addictive. Last time I was here it was a more refined morsel with the dough crispier. We were forced to order two by it's deliciousness. Now they've upgraded the portion size and it's softer, but still pretty good.We cut through the khachapuri (you do have to) with a delicious Olivier salad. Last time I was here it was more potatoey. This time there were more veg. It was still the most delicious version of Olivier in town. I got a takeaway of it - my sister shovelled it in. It's good. There's a choice of 3 vegetarian mains - you certainly wouldn't get that in Georgia. Or in most places here. There's a regular and veggie-adapted khinkali. Khinkali are cute and worth having once, but I suspect even if you are not veggie, they might not be the most tasty thing on the menu. On the veggie side, the lobio (kidney beans) was delicious with Georgian spicing, which I love and is not like any other. This is only £9.50 a pot. Not bad value at all.We rounded off with some excellent walnut cake and weird warm grape jelly. Three courses, a glass of wine each with each course, £50 a head. I'm going to admit here that for this style of food, this feels a bit pricey. We messed up a bit by ordering by the glass, instead of the bottle, because we thought we weren't going to drink much - not sure how we drew that conclusion while sober. We ended up just ordering the same wine by the glass all the way because it was so nice. Optimising that strategy would have brought us closer to £40 p/h, whcih is starting to feel in the right ball park all told. The welcome is warm, the staff friendly and efficient. We hobbled of into the rainy night happy with our lot.

I have tried Georgian food since I was first in Georgia many years ago and since then understand pretty well how their food should taste, be priced and quantity of it per dish ordered. Well, I think this restaurant benefits from being the only Georgian-only restaurant in London if I am not mistaken and hence their prices are out of control. 12£ for 6 dumplings (khinkali) seriously? No such prices should exist, especially when khinkali is one of the cheapest dishes in Georgia, should be affordable. It does not require much of work or any expensive ingredients, but here Tamada wants to make huge money out of it. 5* is only given because I like Georgian food and because of high rating more people may visit and try which is good!

We were taken here by my son who was looking for something a little different. Georgian food certainly fit the bill. The staff are extremely pleasant and attentive, but I felt their ability to assist with the menu, given how different the food is, was a little lacking.I chose Adjaruli Khachapuri to start followed by Khinkali. The Adjaruli Khachapuri is a bread base filled wilt cheese and egg and baked. The dish is lovely with a fondue like consistency, sadly the size of this as a starter is such that it puts you under pressure for the next course. Adjaruli Khachapuri is an odd dish to my mind. You are served with six large dumplings filled with minced pork & beef etc... but that is it. There is nothing but dumpling. It was hearty, tasty and very filling, but somewhat monotonous.Bearing in mind that these dishes are traditional Georgian, my conclusion is Georgian food is too heavy for me.A lovely evening but, for me, once was enough.

A cosy little restaurant serving authentic Georgian cuisine. When I lived in Tbilisi I never paid more than about £10 a head for a meal out (inc wine); obviously a London restaurant would not be so easy on the wallet....So it was a little pricey for what we got but all tasty and served with a friendly smile. Khatchapuri (cheesy bread) was as good as it could be without the proper Sulguni cheese, Lobio (stewed beans) and Badrigani (aubergines with walnut paste) were very good.

If you are looking for Georgian cuisine in London, this is a great place to visit. Myself Armenian, enjoy Georgian food a lot and know a lot about it. This place, I am not saying is the best representation of traditional Georgian food and taste, but quite close. Everything tastes great, however some dish portions are small for their high price (e.g. khinkali). So the price is my only complaint. Be prepared to pay relatively medium to high bill after decent meal, which is expected, as it is in London. So, overall, nice place to visit, say, once per month if you miss Georgian food in the UK.

It was actually closed for renovations. So we had to pay the taxi to take us elsewhere. very disappointing, you shouldn't allow bookings to be made when you aren't open

Two of us had eaten Georgian food & two had eaten Georgian food several times in Russia. We all thought the food here was pretty bad on the whole. The meat dumplings were awful: the meat was incredibly salty & the dumpling pastry was thick, heavy & undercooked. The stuffed cabbage was better. The Georgian wine was interesting & worth trying (£25 bottle). The service was excellent.

Great little place, with friendly service and excellent food. Hadn't had Georgian food before but will certainly visit again. The dumplings are great, the chicken in garlic and walnut sauce was unique and the black beans and walnut salad was a real surprise. Overall, certainly worth more than one visit.

Maybe we were just unlucky - but this was the worst experience we've had for ages at a restaurant. The only main dish we wanted was unavailable, as was the bread we wanted. We were brought instead some stale, dry corn bread, for which we were then charged £6. Everything was bad - and no hint of an apology for the items being unavailable, the bread inedible or the service slow.

We visited these restaurant that is located in St. Jhon's Wood a very small restaurant but quite clean and nicely decorated. I came with some friends that have never tried the Georgian food and with children. I have to see that the service was amazing and they were very tolerant of the children (as well the people on the other tables). The menu tell you the waiting time for some particular dishes and it was spot on. We have the baby potatoes, katchapury, badjiranni, citeli lobio and ispanakhi. All was delicious maybe the spinach were too dry but it was an amazing discovery of new favours. I just have put a little more of pomegranate, but this is because my personal taste. For main course we had Khinkali these georgian dumpling (were bigger that expected) and amazing we have like 3 giant portions and quite tricky to eat but the waitresses was able to explained to the people that are trying for the first time. The wine was amazing as well is the first time that I have a Georgian's red and we had a bottle of Mukuzani and I have to say that it was amazingly good. In conclusion food and service amazing but pricey.

Georgia nestles in the Caucasus (not in Africa as a work colleague supposed!) and combines a number of culinary influences from its neighbours and from the fact that it was previously part of the Soviet Union. On the menu there are dishes that are reminiscent of Iranian cuisine using pomegranate and walnuts and others that are Slavic in origin such as borscht, blini etc. As Georgia is a Christian country unlike nearby Iran and Azerbaijan, pork and wine are also used as ingredients. The restaurant is licensed and sells very potent oak-aged Georgian vodka (chacha) which will bring tears to your eyes.On our visit we sampled badrijani (chilled aubergine with walnuts and pomegranate), pan-fried baby potatoes, chashushuli (a veal and tomato stew served with mashed potato) and chaqapuli (reasonably spicy lamb stew served with crusty white bread rolls). We did not have khachapuri, which seems to have been a serious error on our part which must be rectified on our next visit. The waitress was very attentive and we received our food promptly. The menu helpfully warns which dishes take longer to prepare, which is also a strong indication that the food is prepared fresh. We enjoyed all of our dishes though we feel we played it a bit safe and should have ordered some of the more elaborate items on the menu. The food is well-presented and the stews come in attractive clay dishes. The restaurant itself is very tastefully decorated. My only criticism is that the restaurant is quite expensive.

Came to Tamada last month for a great evening behind the scenes learning how to make authentic Georgian Khachapuri bread and a range of starters. Everyone was really generous, friendly and enthusiastic and I left with piles of delicious food to share with my flatmates. Thanks again!

This restaurant is something different, and it's always good to have some variety! Some frankly delicious food, with very good service. The wines are probably a bit expensive for the quality, and overall a full meal is going to be a bit spendy. Definitely worth a try, though.

I went to Tamada after 3 years again and was amazed that the quality of food is even better than before. The atmosphere was good with one little missing part, waitresses were not smiling, seem she was not a mood. However the food aubergines and lamb in lots of herbs with red fruitfully wine Mukuzani were so good we did not pay much attention on a moody waitress. Hence thanks to the chef! Will be back soon to try new dishes we were told about. Worth trying

I visited this restaurant at the urging of my daughter who had lived in the area and loved this cuisine, which is completely unlike anything I had eaten before. It's wise to order the typical Georgian bread served with eggs on top as a starter on arrival as it takes a while to prepare but is worth every mouthful! The casseroles are delicately flavoured with a unique spice combination I hadn't encountered before, and for simply something different it's well worth a try, but in this cold weather it's a delightful warm up job! It's reasonably priced and makes a wonderful change from our usual eat out choices. Heartily recommended.

I've booked a table in Tamada to see my best friends remembered from last time such a good atmosphere and amazing food... Unfortunately not anymore. Straight away when we've entered the restaurant we've seen bad mood of a waitress. For the rest of the night no even smile for a second. Such a shame no music in the background whitch we expected in Georgian restaurant... We were feeling like we are not welcome at all. Cold atmosphere made my experience even worse. Won't come back here! Thanks

We noticed reviews for this restaurant while staying in the area and it sounded intriguing. We chose mostly menu items with a symbol indicating they were house specialties recommended by the chef (red beans, lamb with tarragon). Most everything was very good with some flavors and combinations of flavors that were new to us. The service was attentive and friendly. We were a little disappointed in the bottle of wine that we ordered, which was not chilled at all (white). But this is a place we would gladly visit again to try more of the menu and learn more about Georgian cuisine. We didn't order any of the items that required a 45 minute wait, but we might do next time.

Made a special trip out to Maida Vale to try this place out. If you haven't had georgian food then you must have it! incredibly delicious it is. By Georgian standards this place is pretty good, all the starters were really nice and presented with a little flair. The Khachapuri was not the best i've had but still noteworthy. The walnut cake for dessert was a real highlight and went down a real well. The decor is nice here, service is a little cold though. Price is a little more than some other georgian establishments. They apparently do cooking classes here which i'd love to try out. Overall this is better than your average georgain place.

After trying Georgian food of late due to trips to the Ukraine and Russia, I was looking forward to heading to Tamada after reading the good reviews.I have to say the menu is lovely and diverse with a lot too choose from. My husband and I headed to the restaurant with my friend and his partner on a Friday night. You can not go pass the cheese egg bread, traditional and delicious. We ordered a range of foods and shared them around. Very authentic food and the Georgian wines were not to be scoffed at as well. The wines are priced reasonably and lot to chose from. Lovely full bodied ones to light licorice tast ones. The service here is also very welcoming, warm and real. Our waitress could not do enough for us with suggesting dishes and wines and providing good alternatives.Hint- definitely order the walnut cake for dessert.

We arrived at 12:30, took 10 min to order ( mentioned that all our food must be halal). The kids received their afternoon tea with ham sandwiches, that we asked to change and waited for 30 min to receive their food) I asked for tea refill and didn’t receive it until this moment 1:50. And If we needed a service we have to call staff several times, and still they forget things like the ice and lemon, the refill of tea… In sum ( staff are friendly, service is slow, food is ok , place is beautiful.

As many other Google reviewers have noted, the Antalya Restaurant serves up tasty and authentic food with many choices available. My choice was lentil soup flavoured to perfection, followed by a plate of exquisitely delicious Adana kebabs just like those made in Turkey's Adana town. A good glass of Turkish red wine also impressed -- a wine fundamentally authentic in taste and geography. The staff were prompt and attended well. I walked in without any booking, but a space was quickly found (although this was on a Monday night). Antalya Restaurant lives up to its glowing reputation.

Lots of prior posts describing the decor and ambience. For my part I found the food to be delicious: nicely prepared and presented. It’s a place for wine drinkers - large selection of bottles and a few by the glass. Unfortunately for me they don’t have a very large beer selection 🙃
