Takk Coffee House in Manchester

Lovely cosy spot, really chilled. I’ve had a lot of granola in my time but the granola here was the absolute best. Fantastic coffee too! I would highly recommend Takk.

Excellent coffee. I had a flat white and it was exceptional: truly delicious. Also had poached eggs on toast, which was good. The eggs Benedict with mushroom and halloumi was delicious and a good portion size. The staff were friendly. Service was fast

Almost paid £4 for this little tiny oatmilk latte and its in a glass?? I've had better lattes that cost less, although the heart was pretty. I went on a Saturday as well so there was hardly any space to move and to sit down let alone be in peace and the little table I sat at was low down and wooden and uncomfortable and I ended up sitting with a stranger and having a conversation. Apparently its not always that loud and busy but on Saturdays it is, so wouldn't recommend then unless you arrive in time to pick your choice of seating. Great indoor WiFi. Nice atmosphere, however the drink was way too expensive. They have vegan options for food too.

Chilled coffee shop, breakfast/lunch/cake options and excellent coffee of course. Cool decor with school desks complete with graffiti and hanging lights. Out of all the third wave coffee shops I've visited in Manchester, I'd say Takk do the best food so i usually prioritise it over Foundation or NTP etc if i know I'm going to be eating. Personal favourite is poached eggs with salmon and avocado on sourdough.

Hands down to the best French toast ever with nice combination of flavors; the lemon curd was definitely the highlight of the dish! The cappacunio was perfect and extremely good quality and so is the ambience inside the cafe, giving a feeling of cosiness and warmth on a rainy Wednesday morning.

Visited the University Green branch. Popped in on way back to hotel and looking for coffee. Nice friendly waitress. Really nice coffee (El Salvador), best I’ve had so far in Manchester. Shared a mixed berry muffin which was lush (crispy sugary coating and soft spongy centre). Will definitely return.

Lovely airy space with plenty of tables. Just as well, we went for brunch on a Saturday and it was packed! Pleasant, efficient staff, and a lovely arty crowd made for a buzzing atmosphere. We had great coffee and were very tempted by the Pollen Bakery pastries and cakes, but opted for the avo on sourdough with poached egg, which was excellent. Quite simply the best I've had ❤️

This was a great find! Smooth coffee, good range of food (including GF, Vegan), service was quick and efficient. Would definitely recommend this place for lunch or a snack.

Friendly staff, nice location, but most importantly quality coffee and food. The espresso was nice, a touch of bitterness but mellow flavours. Likewise for the cappuccino, though it was maybe a bit milkier than I'd usually prefer. The arepa was delicious, stuffed with cheese, served with avocado, fresh salsa, egg & crispy bacon, and very reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

Popped in mid friday afternoon for a late lunch and managed to snag the last table avaliable. I ordered the french toast, which was epic and a perfect mid afternoon treat And an oat flat white, this was on the small side and i was slightly disappointed they didnt have many other dairy alternatives. The place has a hip feeling but not pretentious. My only advice, other than go there, is dont sit beside the stairs as i assume thats where the kitchen is and it was slightly oily/greasy smelling if there were any other seats i would have moved but alas.

Great coffee. The avocado on toast is also delicious, especially with halloumi.

Chai latte and pastry was decent. Giving 3 stars as the wifi was really crappy and i had to use my hotspot for my zoom call. 😂

The batch brew was excellent, lovely and fruity. The staff were friendly and kept the tables clean. I’m a bit confused by the opening times because here on Google it says they close at 16.30 on Fridays. But when I was there on a Friday the staff told everyone they were closing by 16.00 so everyone had to leave by then. Maybe they want to be packed up and away themselves by 16.30? But that’s not the same as being open till 16.30.

Great food , warmly welcomed and decent coffee but the walls are full of offensive imagery. Ended up leaving early. It’s not “art”

It was good. I tried the turkish eggs. It was a bit unseasoned but fine. The nigella seeds were a nice touch. They only have oat milk for plant-based milk alternatives.

Excellent coffee, delicious vegan chocolate cake and a warm atmosphere, in this cozy place with plenty of books and magazines to read , if you come alone. There are also work stations if you want to work with your laptop and you can buy, if you want, their own ground coffee.

2nd time visiting. Love the flat white coffee, looks small but packs a flavoursome punch ! Bit of the beaten track but we'll worth making time for. Look forward to eating there over the holidays or early next year !

Great place, and amazing selection of cakes. I am always on the look for coffee shops where I can write and read while enjoying a cake and a coffee, highly recommend this spot. Staff were lovely too

Muffin was OK but served the worst tasting coffee I've had anywhere. Far too expensive so many places in Manchester to get a good coffee but this isn't one of them.

I loved your coffee and always made a special detour to get it but i noticed that coffee started to get bitter. And while I was waiting for coffee today i have realised why - girl, who takes orders, prepeares esspresso shots, and goes back to orders. Then esspresso shot states ( in my case) over 2 minutes while second poured milk in it... Such a bad practice guys. An I am not a coffee guru but I work in coffee industry for last 20 years I hope managers are aware of this. It would be such a shame to loose customers over such a small thing

Super hyggeligt sted med god lokation og fantastisk lækker (morgen)mad og kaffe. Vil helt sikkert anbefale det. Venlig personale og dejlige omgivelser at nyde sin morgenmad i. Priserne stemmer fint overens med, hvad man får serveret.

Expresso coffee excellent, decor good to work with laptop, unfortunately couldn’t stay too long as the cooking fumes overwhelmed me.

Great atmosphere for study but it can be a bit warm inside. Also, taste of espresso was not to my liking.. but still one of the favourite places.

Amazing espresso and service from the people working at Takk. Espresso was served with a lovely glass of sparkling water to rinse my palate. £3 might be on the pricey side but happy to pay that for the service given.

Brilliant coffee and chocolate croissant with that authentically stand-offish Scandinavian service, with my espresso served on a timber board with a shot of sparkling mineral water - the henna mark of a proper 5-star coffee shop. An abundance of seating so you don’t feel rushed when dining-in, and clearly the ‘Central Perk’ for local laptop-tapping creatives. Rather awkwardly, and novelly for the UK, I was asked if I wanted to tip the staff upon ordering, when literally all that occurred was I had said hello and told them what I wanted to eat and drink. Perhaps I should also be permitted to hover over the cashier while the staff are asked by automatic prompt ‘please enter amount of discount based on how friendly the customer is’. Am I supposed to predict that the service will be great and therefore tip in advance? If so, do I get a refund for that tip if the service is not as predicted? These are issues that are easily avoided if this American (and apparently Czech) cringe is removed from our British society, with staff paid fairly and prices increased if necessary so that is possible. Nevertheless, I would happily return to this classy establishment any time with my quill and leather-bound notebook.

Coffee was great (and I am a fussy Australian coffee drinker) and service great.

We found this gem of a place off the main shopping street and decided to visit for a coffee stop. Luckily we found the last inside table as the weather was a little unpredictable. There is plenty of outside seating too. Probably the nicest flat white coffee I have had and unfortunately we only had drinks as the food that was being served at other tables was looking very attractive too. The friendly staff made the whole experience a positive one.

Croissants were a bit stale. Coffee, staff and atmosphere were great.

Staff were great, friendly, and service was good. Food was bang average. £12 for two eggs slapped on a lukewarm piece of sourdough and an avocado on the side. Wouldn't be back for the food and wouldn't recommend. Not quite sure what is Icelandic about this place either. The food and drinks options weren't Icelandic at all. Disappointed because it looks nice in pictures.

Excellent coffee! Best in Manchester. However, what makes this place truly the best in the city is the food. The breakfast/brunch menu is outstanding. My regular!

This place does not offer table service. I mention that because nowhere does it say so. Not on the menu, the serving counter, the wall. Nowhere. I sat at my table for 10 minutes, choosing what I wanted and then waiting to place my order. At no time did the waitress, barrista or "manager" come to me to explain. Infact nobody had said hello, or welcomed me despite having to walk right past them. When I eventually went to place my order the waitress said that the kitchen had just closed. I pointed out that I had been waiting 10 minutes to which she replied that she had't seen me. Apparently nobody had. I'm 6 feet 2 inches tall and weigh just shy of 18 stones. There was no one else at my table. But nobody saw me. They did see a young, hip type who came in. They were all over him. One other thing I should mention, I'm old. I don't think the staff here are stupid, although they all do a good impression. Any yes, they have few if any social skills, but I think their problem is that, they don't see old. My suggestion if you are north of 50, save yourself the embarrassment. Go somewhere else. You are not welcome here.

The staff, the food, the drinks and the vibes are just amazing here. You pay at the bar or via a QR code at your table. Service is quick, atmosphere here is friendly to chat with your friend/family and is conducive for working on your computer too. Very conveniently located and less than 5mins walk to Manchester Piccadilly. Great place to get brunch. Paid Parking is available outside the cafe

This hidden gem of a place definitely proved to be as good as the rating suggested. I arrived there and the waiter graciously helped me carry my luggage (I had 2 big suitcases) into the cafe. The food was amazing and the ambience was nice. I spent an hour there having brunch and relaxing. Food is a little pricey but its usual cafe prices. The service was the best part - it always blows me away how kind people can be!

I popped in here after reviews. I am on a trip and wanted to taste some good coffee. The staff were lovely and attentive and recommended various coffees. It’s very peaceful and relaxing. If you are in the area I would say it is a crime to not pop in for a drink. The food looked amazing but I only had a couple of coffees.

I can happily say after my first visit I have been back weekly for a pleasant and peaceful lunch hour and enjoyed this fantastic establishment.

We had brunch here and ordered the French toast and chilli scrambled eggs. While the bread quality was excellent, the toppings of the French toast were not so good and the chilli in the chilli scrambled eggs wasn’t noticeable. The service was extremely slow and we got each dish within 30 minute intervals which was disappointing.

I loooooooooooved this place. I wish they would have had their kitchen working while I was there. Ofr whatever reason it wasn't in order. But no matter. I had a piece of cake which was vanilla with jam in between the layers and rolled in coconut and dried fruit. I couldn't get enough and ate it way faster than I intended. I also had the best Americano I have ever tasted. The ambiance is perfect and the staff are so friendly. Thanks for giving me my first coffee shop experience in Manchester!

The space is chill regardless of whether you sit inside or outside (although you get the cool music inside 😊). The coffee is SUPERB and the staff are incredible. Sophia served me and she had such a great vibe and knew her coffee well which is soooo important if you know your beans! Also a great barista is a must for such an establishment and Nikos of course is the MASTER of cappuccinos. I love mine with with cinnamon powder on top and smooth microfoam and the consistency in taste never fails. Keep up the awesome work everyone!

🇬🇧 Amazing Coffee shop in the center of the Northern Quarter of Manchester. The venue serves a wide range of coffees and tea in an intimate atmosphere, a bit dark on my opinion. There is always people that are working or hanging out with friends but the noise it's not too high to be able to concentrate. I loved the bookshelves that they have in the background of the place. On top of that, the looms were really clean. 🇪🇦Increíble cafetería en el centro del Barrio Norte de Manchester. El lugar sirve una amplia variedad de cafés y tés en un ambiente íntimo, un poco oscuro en mi opinión. Siempre hay gente que está trabajando o pasando el rato con amigos, pero el ruido no es demasiado alto para poder concentrarse. Me encantaron las estanterías que tienen en el fondo del lugar. Además de eso, los lavabos estaban realmente limpios.

Serve great coffee as always, love their French toast but we get in a bit late today and only realize the kitchen closed at 3pm. So, for those who would like to try the food here bare in mind of the kitchen serving time.

Best coffee of 2023 so far... and it will take some beating! Also, first coffee outside of the year too... so loads of first place medals 😂 what an amazing coffee house. I mean Manchester has some GREAT places, but this is top of the list so far. So good we went two days in a row!!

Delicious food, a good vibe, friendly staff and tasty coffee. Breakfast bowl was delicious, all well cooked and presented. The vegan sausages were really good and the black pudding was perfect. The Vegan Nduja was very tasty, well recommend for a kick to your breakfast. All in all a great little (dog friendly!) Place

Decent quality batch brew. The relatively small cake selection didn’t take my fancy unfortunately.

It was okay. Nothing really wrong with it, service was fast, I always get a bit annoyed when the POS asks for a tip, for a takeaway coffee in a country that pays a living wage. I’d maybe think differently if I was actually ‘served’ the food did look good though so I might return for that.

Absolutely superb food from a flourishing Independant eatery, very original and unique options on the menu, presentation and quality of ingredients are superb, highly recommended, and if you are staying in a hotel such as ourselves, you will do well to ditch the hotel breakfast or brunch and try here!

Disappointed that an otherwise tasty coffee left a bitter taste in the mouth when guilt tripped into tipping on the contactless card machine for a takeaway drink. Why spoil such an otherwise nice venue with this?

Arguably purveyors of the best latte in MCR city centre. Sometimes a bit of a wait for a to-go coffee but entirely reflective of the quality of their product…it is entirely worth it! Some delicious scandi-inspired breakfast offerings with unusual ingredients too. The NQ location is the best for hygge sit-down vibes on a rainy Manny day…but their Oxford Road locations close to Hatch and University of Manchester are highly recommended too.

Very popular café and no wonder why. Their house espresso is different, but delicious. Their food also looks good.
