Larger than normal portions, really tasty

RIP off , I had a King prawn starter Four £6.30 and got two prawns no thanks not for me that ha won’t be back been a long time customer and it’s gone off over the last few years for definite better elsewhere New Mills cuisine all day long

Never been in before but will definitely be back. Didn’t book so we were unsure if we would get a table. Managed to get a table and really glad we did. Friendly staff, excellent food and inviting appearance. Highly recommend the Samber.

Ate here one night in Buxton The food was excellent and very well priced. I would have given 5 stars if they had not asked me to move tables because of a big party coming in, I had to move because I’m guessing a regular wanted the table I was sat on, they knew him by first name. I also asked if I could come back tomorrow, the answer was yes we will find you a table. Arrived and told sorry no table free, for those two reasons I will not return. Shame because the food was great 👍

Visited on spec as just arrived for a long weekend in Buxton and weren’t disappointed - ordered the set vegetarian meal for two, really tasty and more than enough - very filling. The staff were friendly and we thought with 4 Kingfisher beers the price was extremely reasonable - would recommend

Absolutely outstanding Indian restaurant right in the heart of higher Buxton. The staff are such a lovely bunch of guys and make the whole experience of dining in a nice treat. Their signature dishes Sondhia and Chicken Honey are my top two, but everything they do is spot on!

Visited this restaurant after spending a couple of days in Buxton. Very attentive staff. Food was great. Bit small portions. But very filling. Poppadoms were OK. Prawn puri was nice. Lamb jalfrazy was packed with Lamb. And chilli's. Really tasty. Chicken tikka Biryani was good plenty of chicken. Omelette on top. Keema rice was nice. A bit oily. Peshwari naan was lovely. Would go back. 👍

The website says open until 10pm on Saturday. I arrived at 9.34pm to order a takeaway when the restaurant was nearly full and was told that the kitchen was closed, "sorry sir" he said and handed me a menu (not sure why). Update your website or open until when it states it will.

First time in Buxton. Was a present for my sister and brother in -law. Food was lovely really enjoying the evening. But then was presented with the bill before we asked for it. It was obvious we were being asked to leave. So we paid and left. No thank you or goodnight as we walked out. Really disappointing.

This Indian restaurant is superb, smart waiters, delicious authentic food, clean and tidy classy establishment. Not our first visit and we will be back. Excellent.

We were staying in Buxton for a few nights and found this place on Google. The staff were very friendly, the service excellent and we found the food to be superb and we will definitely eat there again next time we visit. Highly recommended.

Don't know what some previous reviews are about at all. We went tonight - had a lovely meal and the staff were lovely. Tasty, hot and well spiced food. Good attentive service. And a friendly chat with one of the staff when clearing our table. Can't fault it

One of the worst customer service ever experienced. Staff needs to learn how to treat customers. We as a customer expect some kind gesture and respect before you service food.

Wanted to dine in, but the waiter was so rude in explaining the dishes. Its difficult to understand the indian dish names and waiter was definitely to interested in explaining what were they offering. Such a bad experience.

I popped in here for a meal on my solo visit to Buxton. The food was very nice. They didn't have any cauliflower but the chickpea and Spinach curry they made me was lovely. The service was attentive and prompt. Despite the very bright lighting, I was very happy.

I went to Taj last night as I saw good reviews. I am myself from Birmingham, and I would say home of curries best you would find. I saw some negative reviews for Taj Mahal and would like to comment on them please don't let them put you off they are people who are turning up closing time and are expecting to be served so I would ignore them. my review is customer service is excellent staff are really friendly good atmosphere but as I love my curry and I cook myself too I wasn't very happy with the curries it could be just my taste. I definitely recommend this place 👌

The food was excellent and it was buzzing on a Monday night! The service was a little too quick - it did feel a bit as though they wanted us out ASAP - but overall would definitely recommend.

Food was great, nice atmosphere, a bit noisy but that's the people dining, service was hectic so staff didn't have much time for us, checking your bill is a must, a mistake on the bill nearly cost me £29.00.Would go again as the food was great, 6 of us all enjoyed it.

After an enforced change of plans we were looking for a place to eat in Buxton on Saturday 14th Oct. We fancied Indian food but didn't really want a takeaway to take back to our motorhome since we'd already had to go off our site to find somewhere in town (there being no phone signal HAHA) and had just managed to get her parked up in a safe spot nearby. We walked into Taj Mahal, un-optimistically, as we could see even at 6.15 it was very busy (there was a private party in the back area). They thought that we could only have a takeaway but then quickly found a possible table upstairs if we didn't mind sharing (we didn't) and then almost immediately created a space downstairs! So we sat down and ordered what turned out to be some of the best Indian food we've eaten for ages, along with friendly service (despite the challenge of the private hen/bachelor party!). We did have to sit in a pretty high-traffic area but under the circumstances they did us proud! When next back in Buxton we will book ahead for the Taj Mahal!

Delicious halal food with very reasonable price friendly staff

We had a delicious dinner here on our visit to Buxton. The food is excellent, we enjoyed the poppadoms and chutneys to start. The tandoori chicken sizzler came with salad and curry sauce, Kulchi lamb was very flavoursome and rich. We ordered a side of egg rice which was very flavoursome and a peshwari naan which was filled with coconut. The price of the drinks were very reasonable and the food too. We paid in cash but they also took card. Take cash if you can. Enjoyed the atmosphere, lighting, music, and service. It was busy in the restaurant but it didn’t affect the great service we received. Lovely meal brill friendly service

Had a takeout, food was immense and from what I could see it was a lovely clean restaurant. The service was perfect.

Best Korma... By far had them in every part of the UK from Scotland to End of Cornwall and the very best I've had. The Peshwari Nan was perfect the last few I have had throughout the UK are usually over cooked. Top service and genuinely nice people attentive polite. The chefs are obviously passionate about the food they serve. Awesome 👍

Had a lovely meal for two, the food was excellent. Very busy and popular place. The food came out with no delay, even though a group of twenty arrived just before us. Very impressed and will eat there again.

Excellent curry and very generous portions!

We made a late booking for a table here on a saturday night and they were able to accommodate, with the restaraunt close to full. The food was good, the tikka masala could have been a bit spicier and the garlic naan comes with coriander, no option yo have it as must garlic. It's quite a nice, clean look inside. They also offer containers to take any leftovers home, which is handy.

If an asian man says the food is good, then trust me it's good. We traveled from London to Mam tor and on the way back wanted to have something to eat. We decided to eat at this place. No regrets. Will definitely be visiting this place again if we travel up north.

Incredibly tasty food; there were 4 of us, all ordering different items. Butter chicken was very tasty, although there was so much we had to take some home. Lamb Rogan Josh was nice and something a bit different for a relative newbie to Indian restaurants. I ordered a selection of vegetable side dishes, which were all very favourable and some nice subtle spices. The chana sag was a personal favourite. Good prices at around £25 a head, including drinks and everyone bought food back home with them. Highly recommend.

Best Indian restaurant in Buxton. Great menu selection. Maybe lacking some spice and heat on some dishes but overall a pleasing meal.

It was very nice and fresh food. The food is nicely spiced and very fresh. The chicken chilli masala was very nice and fresh. The one quarrel is that it is starting to get very expensive. It was £17 just for the main course.

Turned up on spec and was seated straightway, service was fast and good. My curry was nice but slightly bland to what I’m used to, my Son really enjoyed his curry though and rated it highly. Slightly more expensive than my local but then I expect that being in a tourist destination.

We had a fantastic meal here on Saturday 1st April, one of the best indian restaurants we have visited. Everything we ordered was superb. Definitely worth a visit

Staff wanted to be elsewhere, food poor & expensive. Don’t go. ‘Special’ king prawn comes with head & shell on! Tough fish masala that tasted awful apparently isn’t awful, it’s just that most other restaurants don’t cook it right…

locals told us this is the best curry house in Buxton well they were not wrong amazing Indian cuisine cooked to perfection and cobra on tap is always a winner We were a big group and they managed perfectly with all the food coming out together drinks topped up at just the right time. I asked for something that was not on the menu and it was no problem Be sure to book a table as it does get busy Take away is also available

Food was average . Service and staff is rubbish . Only asked for a vat receipt and got mobbed by 8 staff telling me that a vat number was ok and that I don’t need a vat receipt. As I work for HMRC I don’t think I need to be told how vat works . Very rude avoid this place at all costs .

Called in quite late for an impromptu curry and was really pleased when they squeezed us in just after last orders. The service was superb as usual and so was the food. A really nice relaxed atmosphere added to a very nice evening. Despite being late never felt rushed at all. Will definitely call again, but next time get there a bit earlier to enjoy it even more.

Worst staff I have ever seen. Very rude. When ever a person go to a restaurant they will order different things one by one he came to me and he refused to take my order. Owner of the restaurant should get some one who is professional. Instead of these worst people.

Excellent food, its real curries using fresh ingredients. We ordered lamb rogan josh and all mix curry with mushroom bhaji on the side. Waiters all helpful and friendly.

This is the second time we have dined at this restaurant and this is the second time we have enjoyed superbly prepared and served food, the staff were courteous and prompt. If you are in Buxton and you fancy having an Indian meal for dinner then look no further than this, it won't disappoint.

We called in at the Taj Mahal on Monday night after reading favourable revues and to be quite honest was quite dissapointed.Our starters were very nice ,I had Lamb chops and my wife had chicken tikka ,but the main courses left a lot to be desired ,both the chicken Balti and the chicken Korma contained chicken that was chewy,tough and very bland and my pilau rice was hard and tasted like it hadn't been cooked long enough.The restaraunt is clean and the staff were very friendly ,but we won't be rushing back again.

On holiday in nearby Crowdecote we decided on a takeaway as the local pub is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Opted for the Taj Mahal in Buxton based on favourable recent reviews and ease of access by road from Crowdecote. Ordered by phone and it was ready when we arrived 20 minutes later. We had Chicken Tikka Biryani and Chicken Tikka Bhuna with Peshawari Nan and poppadoms. Main dishes were excellent with great spicy flavours but not too hot; vegetable curry with Biryani was exceptional. If you are within a 10 mile radius of Buxton then you won't go wrong in ordering from here. Inside the restaurant is clean, smart and nicely decorated. Staff are friendly and polite. If we lived closer we would definitely book the Taj Mahal for eating in.

New to the area! Ordered loads of food in Buxton to find great quality and tasty food you find in a more competitive area (No names mentioned, I tried them all). I can honestly say the food here is the best in town in the Indian category. If you are visiting or a local you should try this pace you wont be disappointed.
