I used to live in Glossop, at a time when the Raj Gourmet brought something completely new to local curries. Every time I go back I hope it won't have lost its magic. All the curries here are completely different, so I can never decide and usually go for two very different dishes. Tonight I went for prawn pathia, chicken moglai, mushroom rice, and paratha. The pathia has lots of slivers of green chillis - eat them and it's deliciously vindaloo strength, leave them and it' a really good, rich sweet & sour curry. The moglai is smooth, indulgent, and nutty without the annoying sweetness of lots of similar curries. (The portions are still huge, so I'll be eating this tomorrow too). How they've managed to sustain the quality without increasing the prices, I don't know, but I love this place.

Delicious authentic 'indian' food prepared by Bangladeshi chefs, this takeaway creates dishes that are the equal of any top restaurants. Every meal is cooked to order, piping hot, and is guaranteed to bring a smile to your tastebuds! I've been ordering takeways from The Raj for decades now and I've never been disappointed. RECOMMENDED!!

In my opinion, the best takeaway Indian cuisine in glossop. Friendly staff and reasonably proce delicious food. We don't get takeout Indian food from anywhere else in Glossop.

First time we've tried Raj Gourmet & we are very disappointed. Ordered 2 passanda curries but full of dessicated coconut more like a korma. Poor quality chicken too. Will not be going there again. Will stick to Spice Bistro or Taj Baltic for delivery.

Ordered takeaway for wife and myself. Went and collected. Staff were friendly over the phone and when I went into the shop. Got home to find both starters bright red with food colouring. My special mixed madras wasn’t very special. Mostly mushrooms the chicken, beef and prawns were tiny. The mushroom rice just tasted of black pepper and was bitter and greasy. My wife’s mixed vegetable curry tasted like the water from a pan of cabbage and was mostly cabbage and onion. It did contain some other veg buts i have never seen potatoes dyed red by food colouring before. The Naan bread was way undercooked, anemic and half raw. Won’t be ordering from there again.

The food is excellent and the staff are excellent.

I have always used Tandoori king, but as I now need to find a new takeaway, thought I would try Raj Gourmet, poppadoms, onions,mango chutney followed by Chicken Biryani. It wasn't inedible, just lacking in flavour. Back to the drawing board

I have been a customer here with my family for the last two decades. The food is always delicious, hot and full of flavour. The bonus is you always have leftovers as the sizes are, in most parts, big enough for two days. Take away only, however it is worth it. I have tried a few other places in the town and always resorted back to the Raj. After living away in the USA for a few years, I appreciated their curries even more! A great, friendly front of house team. Thank you Raj.

Have been using Raj Gourmet since the early 2000's and still find good, quality food and value for money. Staff have always been friendly and helpful and I have no hesitation in recommending this take away. My favourite dishes - tandoori chicken, saag bhaji, tarka dhal, chicken tikka masala, and more. Only downside is that there is no delivery service, you have to collect.

Been using these guys for a few years now and I’ve never had a bad experience and I order twice a week. They always tell me when busy and it’s going to take longer and are very well mannered and courteous. I could not recommend them highly enough.

Have had some very good curries from here that were well spiced, had some heat and were very, very tasty. Unfortunately have also had exactly the same curry that tasted completely different - as in there was essentially no spice or heat at all. Very bland sauce/gravy. A real shame because it means we don't know what we are going to get and if we are spending the money we want to be sure we get what we want. Means we now are regulars at another curry establishment in Glossop. Prefer not to be because I find the staff generally nicer at Taj and they have one of my favourites (Shatkora) but it had to be done.

This was the worst takeaway i've had in a long time! Order over the phone and told 30 mins. When arrived had to wait a further 30 mins for it to be ready. The chicken was terrible, very cheap, dry and hard. The onion baji was the worst ive ever had. Flat and burnt.

Decent Indian takeaway in the centre of glossop. All the food was tasty but I was disappointed with the Peshwari naan as there was little difference to a normal naan, I expected more coconut flavour and fruit.

Our family has been going to the Raj ever since we moved to Glossop 22 years ago. We've tried a.if the takeaways during our time but always go back to the Raj. Brilliant friendly staff, top quality food and very reasonably priced. What more could you wish for?

Lovely food but when we take the food out of the bag we have the wrong food more times than not. I am not enamoured with lucky dip food so I have stopped using Raj Gourmet.

Discussed what I wanted with staff, asked for recommendations and was not disappointed. Chicken tikka Dilkhus made fairly hot rather than mild was superb; okra was huge and flavourful. Accompanied with garlic naan for £10.80 was superb value.

We had a takeaway from here late at night. The food was delicous and quite reasoanbly priced. Would go back again.

Curry was very bland, chicken was watery and the chips were soggy. Portions small and the chutney was in tiny pots - not enough for one person having 2 popadoms!

Conseguimos un naan y pollo biriyani desde aquí recientemente y en conjunto me quedé muy impresionado con la calidad. Salsa y arroz excelente, así como ninguno. Mi única crítica sería que la carne estaba un poco de sabor. Sin duda volveremos a probar más de la carta.

Outstanding Indian/Bangladeshi food. Always our first choice for food, price and service. They do not deliver but parking outside is easy and if you phone ahead your order will be waiting. Knocks every other Glossop take-away into a cocked hat!

Was so upset as I normally use one locally ...Stale nan bread and slimey onion 's in the sauce .. This was old food on a Sunday evening that should have been cooked a fresh

Had not been for some time, but had always enjoyed it. Therefore when we went tonight we were very disappointed. The meat in the tandoori mix was tough. The mixed sag was not fresh, the onion Bhaji was inedible and the naan was rubbery and stale. All in all not a pleasant experience.

I have enjoyed eating from this curry house for several years. It produces consistently high quality dishes and has yet to disappoint. Simply phone up and the dishes are generally ready to collect in 20 minutes.Portions are generous , and the meat dishes are not stingy with the meat content. The tarka dhal is a winner and the bindi bhaji a favourite of mine.

lovely indian food.Only do take away though you cannot sit in which is shame but still lovely. Great range of dishes, some never heard of before but delicious all the same. Authentic

decent little takeaway. food is consistent which can be a problem for some take aways. So you know what you are getting every time. Kitchen is open so you can see what is going on. Ring them up collect in 20 mins, easy peasy.

Every time we go there the food is so good. The place is crowded so it must be good. a takeaway! They have been on the high street for many years ,when all about them shops are closing as are food outlets. Keep it up please.Dr Michael Perry

Of particular note is the veg bhajee and tarka dal. Staff always remember my name and are friendly. Consistently good!

Assuming nothing has changed this place is very recommendable. Only does takeaways, but the quality is first class and the portions are huge. Make sure you have enough space in your freezer to keep half of it for another day.

We were saying, in a nice way, that the Raj Gourmet is one of the few places that uses cabbage in its vegetable dishes ....a bit of an understatement as our vegetable biryani and vegetable rogan josh were, well, mostly cabbage. The spinach was nice but the potatoes with it were huge chunks with a red tinge. Leathery nan complemented our vegetarian supper appropriately. If you don't eat meat, go to Lily's in Ashton. They use cabbage, too, but in proportion!

Best curry take away in Glossop by far. The spacial mixed masala is to die for. Large helpings, good value for money keeps me going back.

We have had take-aways from Raj Gourmet for many years, but we don't go there frequently because the food just doesn't warrant it.It is certainly a popular place especially, for example, on Saturday evenings when there seems to be a constant stream of telephone orders and drop-in custom.Service, etc, is welcoming and efficient but the food is just so typical of "Indian" food in so many places in the UK. We have never had an unpleasant meal but neither have we had anything that has really excited our tastebuds. It's better than a take-away pizza.....but what isn't?!

I have used Ray Gourmet for our Indian Takeaway for years - never thought to add a TripAdvisor review before now!The quality of food her is excellent - we have never had a bad meal. What we also like is that when we ask them to slightly amend the menu (add this, take away that, increase or reduce intensity, etc) they are extremely accommodating.The staff there are always so helpful and polite too. Love going there.

as always excellent food and great service. we ordered from the train which was delayed but the food was kept hot for us and was very tasty as always.

If you've tried the rest then prepare for the best because the guys at the Raj Gourmet sure know how to cook up a good curry.........every time. We have tried the other curry houses in Glossop over many years and have eaten curries all over the country and abroad and after every one we always seem to say 'not as good as the Raj Gourmet' So we would like to say a big thank-you to Mohammed and Abdul for their years of friendly service front of house and the curry chefs working their culinary magic in the back. Heard a lot of people talking about I but never heard a bad comment so thought why not? Food was lovely and reasonable prices we ordered two curries chips, rice and 2 different nan breads and came to around £17 which I thinks reasonable! Would definitely recommend! Only down fall is they don't deliver! Only improvement I could think off
