Taj Indian Takeaway in Cardiff

It’s my second time ordering from Taj and I have to say the food is exceptional! The best Indian food I’ve eaten in years, so fresh and tasty, good prices, big portions, Taj will definitely be my new local Indian takeaway

Never have I complained, I ordered nearly every week around £50. Had a green piece of plastic in my curry. Phoned up and they said they don’t believe me as they don’t have green things in the restaurant. Absolutely horrible service saying I’m lying

The food was absolutely disgusting, it was full of oil and water. I even had to drain my food. It was not edible!!! The chicken tasted like rubber. Honestly it was the worst thing I’d ever tasted. I then complained they asked for the food back. And then decided to tell us that they will give the refund tomorrow and to keep the food. How disgusting. We paid in cash and they refused the refund. I’ve added pictures. They speak For themselves. Avoid this place like the plague

Been using this takeaway for a long while, with curry being my favourite, eaten many curries across the U.K and this place is a winner. Always hot and well presented, never had a problem, all this along with good prices. Thanks Taj, keep up the good work.

We ordered four chicken biryani with sauces, and sides . There wasn't enough chicken in the four dishes to make one decent one !! First and last time, only ordered from here because the rumney balti doesn't deliver. Best Indian by far in Rumney

Unfriendly, unclean , the curry had Lots of sauce and very little meat. Noodles were stale, dry and tasteless

We hadn't ordered here in a while as it went badly downhill. But on this occasion it was very nice, hot and delivered in good time. Will be ordering here again very soon. Fingers crossed it will be as good as the last time we ordered

Consistently good food supplied. The curry is perfect for me with a great original taste. The extras are worth trying as well

We had a lovely take away from Taj. The food was great, cooked fresh to order, and excellent value for money. We will order from here again!

Waste of time,ordered a delivery and the driver tried to add £2.00 to the bill,then the complete order wasn't even there but when phoning to say about driver and the order all I got was"well were busy so cant send rest of the order have 50% of next time", no thanks wont order again and don't like trying to be robbed

This is the first time that we used this restaurant. It was very good quality and very tasty. The price was very reasonable and home delivery was available also. Highly recommended.

Worst ordering experience ever. No update. Over one hour late. 0 customer service. Not worth your time or money.

If I could not select a rating I would! Ordered trough Just Eat app. Two hours later food had still not arrived. Rang takeaway and they said the driver was late collecting and would be ten minutes. Rang back half hour after that and was told the same thing. Staff on phone called ‘Sunny’ was rude and left the phone on the hook. He hung up on me twice and did not apologise. Absolutely appalled. Customer service was terrible! They even told the just eat advising after I had called them that there was a road closure yet after driving myself there was not! Will never use again!

Ordered via just eat. They’re less expensive than other places and the nearest to us so have ordered a few times and found them consistent in that the curries are a little too sweet but not bad tasting overall and nicely spiced and they turn up between 15-20 minutes early and though quite hot are not what one would consider piping hot so warm your plates in the between ordering and them coming for best tasting results. As I said not too pricey and good enough for a hassle free midweek dinner.

Ordered a take away via just eat..1.5 hr estimate for delivery which we were ok with but actually took 2.5 hrs and was luke warm. Had to ring 3 times to find out where food was and got fobbed off each time, such poor customer service, £2 refund offered for a £40 order.

Tonight got was supposed to be a tikka massala...... It was definitely korma.!!!! When hubby returned it was told they dont use red colouring in tikka and it was tikka... Funny that the tikka starter was red???? And neither of us could eat the curry..... Very disappointed too sweet and coconut flavoured..... Not tikka. Check before you leave shop people. Wont be ordering from them again sad really, used them often..

Ordered a take away from here online. Had an email with order information which some how has extra food on it???? Phoned then up and sorted it straight away. Unfortunately it took 1.5 hours to arrive a d although very tasty the food was Luke warm and had to be heated in the microwave. I think (at least I hope otherwise some one had colder food than us) that we were on the end of the delivery.

We ordered a takeaway to be delivered at approx 6:30pm on a Monday night. We were celebrating a birthday and had a large get together. I expected there to be a delay as there were 9 of us eating. The food eventually arrived at about 8:45 after phoning for updates twice. We were told that it had left a couple of times but still took a long time. When the food arrived, half of our order was missing. We had no rice!! We guessed that there was another bag still on the driver’s car. We phoned a further 3 times to be told that the owner was bringing the rice to us and ‘sorry we are busy’. The same driver finally turned up at 9:30 with our stodgy rice that appeared to have been sat around for some time. No apology, no offer of a refund. Not good enough! All but 2 of the family have been ill today following our Curry last night.

Food was lovely however we waited for it to be delivered 2hr 20mins!!!! When we ordered the system said it would take 1hr 20mins. (Which on a Saturday night you expect) After that time we were emailed to say food was on its way. 25min later no food, so we rang and were told it was around the corner. 15mins later we rang again. 20mins after that food arrived! No offer of apology/refund/offer of something etc. Very disappointing when your paying over £25.00 for 2 people to eat and have to wait that long.

I like to travel for food across the world. However, I never thought that I would find the most tastiest food in Cardiff at Taj! The best food I've tried yet! I would recommend it to everyone. Taj has friendly staff, has quick service, fast delivery and the most important, delicious food! I feel like going everyday. The best takeaway in Cardiff in my opinion is Taj Indian takeaway.

Me and my wife went there a few times now and it's been absolutely fantastic! The food was perfect! The staff was so helpful and friendly! And I can't wait to order again! Definitely would reccomend!

OK,my last review rated this Indian as going downhill. However a few people said it was getting better so I decided to try it again as it's my local Indian and use to be very good. I ordered on a quite night and food arrived quickly. There was a hugh difference,the food was tasty and well spiced and very good,just like it use to be. Not sure whether there are different chefs or whether some are better than others or if it was a quite night and the food was better. I hope it maintains high standards and doesn't start going downhill again.

Been using the Taj for regular home delivery for a few years; always consistently good; then suddenly all the colour is out of the food and it tastes bland. Shamee Kebab looks and tastes like a truck-stop burger; Tandoori Masala sauce looks and tastes like Korma. Something seriously lacking in the spice department. Hope this improves soon or we're off elsewhere

I left a previous review saying how great this Indian was. However it has now gone downhill as stated by previous reviewers. I ordered a takeaway and was told it would be delivered in an hour-I ended up waiting 2 hours and was told that they were busy and my order was still with them and it would be delivered in another half hour. I made them take money off the order and found that when it was finally delivered it was the wrong order. By that time I was so hungry I decided to eat it. The food however was awful, one curry was watery and had no flavour and the second curry was thick with no flavour. The chicken was also completely different,it used to be cut into lovely tender slices but now seems to be cut off the bone into different pulled chunks which are hard on the edges.I don't know whether there are different chefs there but the food and service is awful. Their hygiene rating has also slipped from a 4 to a 3. I will not be ordering again.

Very disappointed with the quality of the food we ordered, the keema nan bread was undercooked, very doughy, the meat well the slither of meat that was in there was anemic, chicken chat was Ok, chips Ok, keema rice not as nice as it used to be , New recipe? New chef ? Maybe The chicken tikka massalla sauce was too thick and didn't realky taste of anything I have always been happy to order from here but the taste & quality has definitely gone down in my opinion, I won't be buying again

the cost of food at Taj is value for money and the food and service was great, other places in this area are too expensive like spice island poor quality food.

I've ordered from here for years and recently the standards had slipped maybe due to being so busy and understaffed. We've tried so many difference places which weren't a patch on Taj but tonight we came back to Taj and the food was amazing. Can't compare any other curry house to them. The service was 10x better than usually on a Saturday. I ordered online, got 10% off and picked up and it was ready in 5 mins! Nothing missing and the food tasted unreal. I won't be looking elsewhere again if they keep to this standard from now on. Thank you.

Having been a regular customer of the Taj for several years, lately standards have slipped in terms of their customer service - this is the 3rd time in a row we have had where items have been missing and when you contact them to rectify the issues the staff are rude, blatantly lie and are unwilling to sort out issues- tonight’s fiasco involved missing items which has taken almost 2 hours to arrive - no apologies and the staff evidently have no concern about retaining customer loyalty- I will never order from them again - utterly disgraceful

First time we ordered on line for delivery.Fantastic value for money.Delivery slightly late but who cares it's Saturday after all.Huge Chicken pieces in my Bhuna,lovely sauce full of flavour.Chicken saga Balti was delicious according to her indoors.Sundries perfect.Will definitely use again.Highly recommended.

We've been using the Taj for home delivery on most Saturdays for quite a while now. Nice varied menu; food beautifully cooked and reasonably priced. Certainly worth a try.

Ordered here for the first time after reading great reviews from Just eat and disappointing reviews on Tripadvisor. The delivery came in 30mins and was very good value with free poppadoms. The veg biryani was very tasty but the chicken tikka massala was more catered for British tastes with it being sweet rather than spicy.Would probably want to try more different dishes to decide whether it's really good or not, as some dishes were very tasty and others not so great. The fact that this restaurant has a 4 star hygiene rating certainly puts it above other indians in the area and for that reason I would definitely try again.

First time ordering from Just Eat and the Taj.Ordered at 18:00 for an 18:40 delivery.Told it would be 18:50 when order confirmedArrived luke warm at 19:20.Should have checked the order but so hungry by then just wanted to dig in. One of the curries I ordered was missing :(Called the Taj who said they'd send it straight away - no apology.Called again to chase at 20:00 (they are only 10 minutes away) and when I asked if I would be getting a refund on the missing curry as it was now 2 hours waiting was told 'I think so, the driver will give it to you'.Rest of the order arrived at 20:10 with some complimentary onion bhajis (unwanted). Driver wouldn't give me a refund and phoned the Taj to find out what was going on. I then spoke to the same woman who swore blind she never said I'd be getting a refund.So, had to phone back twice, no apology either time, well over 2 hours from order to eating with half my meal stone cold and needing microwaving - Could have cooked it myself in half the time so won't be using them again. Worst and rudest service I've had from a take away. Rest of the meal was mostly OK nothing special and definitely not worth the hassle.

I ordered a takeaway at 6.15pm with a delivery time of 7.05pm. After the order was taken and paid for it was then confirmed for 7.55pm. I phoned the restaurant to say that was too late and they said not to worry it will be sooner than 7.55pm.We waited and waited but by 8.15pm no food. I phoned again and was told it left at 7.55. At 8.25 it finally arrived...cold. I phoned and told them it was cold, they offered me 50% off my next order.The starters that had gone cold were also now soggy and limp and not nice. The rice was OK but the curries and naan breads were also cold. We put them in the microwave and they were then warm enough. One of the curries was a king prawn jalfrezi, which is described as being based on chillies. Imagine my surprise to find only two chillies and not a single king prawn. The chicken in the other dishes does not resemble meat from an actual chicken, it obviously comes from some sort of chicken factory. The naan breads, since they had been cooked, gone cold and reheated, were like rubber.On a positive, the saag bhaji was quite nice, the only nice part of the meal. Everything else, had we been in a restaurant, we would have sent back.They can keep their 50% offer of our next order, there won't be a next order. We told them this and they were not prepared to do anything to compensate this terrible meal. If we fancy an Indian takeaway any time soon, we will be sure to order from somewhere else.
