There are a lot of Indian restaurants where you feel the food is just being microwaved from packs but here you're absolutely getting what feels like the real deal ... cooked fresh and delicious couldn't recommend more the dahl and vegetable sides particularly good value.. and they take a generous view of how large a side dish should be which is good. Owner De and his staff should be proud of themselves

What a great place this is. Went on a Friday night after booking a table and was stuck in traffic, the restaurant was very accommodating when I called them and let them know we would be delayed. We were seated by a nice log fire, and the atmosphere is very cosy but at the same time not crowded. The service was just right and timing of food and drink refills where needed were perfect. The food was amazing, and made the visit completely worth it - the best butter chicken I have had in a long time. I would definitely visit again, and the staff are some of the most hospitable you will find.

Watlington is a perfect place for a city break. In this charming place you can find Taj Clubhouse restaurant and make your travel even more amazing. Taj Clubhouse is cosy and lovely place. Really delicious and fresh dishes served with love. Service is just brilliant. For me it was like a trip to India to explore new taste experience. I tasted few menu’s positions and it was delicious. Portions were huge so I could enjoy the food next day too. I would love to highly recommend this restaurant. For sure I will be back again. Thank you!

The Taj Restaurant is in a listed building on the High Street in Watlington. Intimate, welcoming and excellent examples of Indian cuisine. The Butter Chicken and Lamb Korma were beautifully paired with the Lemon Rice. A touch of heat in the chicken offset the creamy sweetness of the Korma. An attentive staff and charming owner insured our every desire was attended to. Another jewel in this small town worth a visit anytime. Just be sure to stay for dinner at The Taj.

I held a private 40th birthday gathering at Taj Clubhouse for 25 guests, and would highly recommend the restaurant for a special occasion or for a delicious meal or takeaway even without a particular reason to celebrate. The team were very accommodating, designing a menu for the celebration, allowing us to decorate however we wished and they made the lovely bar area available to us for welcome drinks, with very attentive staff. We then moved to the main restaurant for a 4 course meal of delicious fresh food, with the selection of starters (samosas, bhajis) on sharing platters a real highlight, as well as the Kashmiri Lamb Rogan Josh for the main course. It was a lovely evening and the guests all complimented the meal and atmosphere. One to visit!

We visited the restaurant last Saturday and had the most amazing time ever! The food was outstanding, a very authentic taste of India served generously on a plate with all the traditional love and care that one associates with the great country. Apart from the equisite taste of the dishes, what stood out for us was the minute details of their plating and also how wonderfully subtle their presentation was coming from the wonderfully talented catering team. The variety of the menu is also quite outstanding, serving both a wide range of starters and mains, all of which maintain a character traditionally found in the kitchens of Calcutta or Mumbai! There is a conscious effort to blend the rich traditional traits with the relevant elements of this day and age! As an example, the samosa, which is a traditional starter, finds a modern day twist as the chefs convert that into a delightful version called the samosa-chat, that goes very well with a chilled class of Cobra! The ambiance is subtly different from any 'run of the mill' Indian restaurant, as it beautifully blends an old world charm with the comforts of modern dining! All in all, a truly delightful culinary experience that we would want an encore very very soon! As a token of our appreciation, we are sharing a few photos of the eclectic array of dishes that we had the pleasure of consuming on Saturday!!! This neighbourhood restaurant elevates the curry to fine cuisine and is a true gem. Somehow, every swallow has twice as much fresh flavour as anything I've ever experienced before.
