Tai Yin Chinese Takeaway in Norwich

Wow, this place used to be lovely and we’ve been loyal customers for years. Apparently it’s under new management and all new staff. Can’t believe how awful our meal was this evening. The dishes were half full and that’s not an exaggeration. It was cold, chewy chicken and noodles were full of onion, every dish was tasteless and the chips were dry and inedible. We had a dish missing and the customer service was shocking. Absolutely would not use again.

This, without exception, is the worst Chinese food we’ve ever had, I don’t know where to begin! The chow mein had no flavour and tasted burnt, mine had hardly any beef. The rice tasted like it was out of a bag of uncle Bens and again no flavour. The chips were like re heated fries from macdonolds. My son had the ribs they were just awful, inedible. It feels like there was a stand in cook who has not much idea and just did what they could! I’m not sure what’s going on and I know this is a harsh review but it’s honest. We have ordered before some time ago and I’m positive the food wasn’t like this. Suffice to say that this was the best part of £40 WASTED! ☹️

Spring rolls and chicken balls always overcooked and too crunchy. Szechuan not very good at all - not a lot of flavour and for some reason has pineapple in. Chilli chicken was good. Salt and pepper chips were decent.

Used a few times in the past and decided to give a try again. Something has happened to the chef as the 3 dishes - S&S chicken, Prawn chow mein and chicken, pork and mushrooms - were all extremely bland - no seasoning or taste whatsoever. Not going to give it another go. Waste of money. Even the complimentary prawn crackers were tasteless. PS - no I do not have covid and taste buds working fine.

First time trying it after living near it in 2 years basic chicken balls and chips... Both over cooked and dry could cooked better myself... Wont return

Ordered aromatic crispy duck with the pancakes, it was so over cooked, there was only enough meat for 2 pancakes. I nearly broke my teeth on the overcooked bits. Very disappointed.

I have used twice, first time very disappointed with crispy duck with pancakes. This was served as duck slices, not crispy and shredded. Second time King Prawn Kung Po again disappointing, was not the usual dish basically prawns (unbattered) in gravy. Wil not be using again

Used to be much better Sad because staff are very friendly. Sauces very watery. Noodles ok. Chinese in hellesdon much better

I took a chance to try the food here again after years of not eating here in hope their food may have improved so I ordered a mushroom curry and black bean sauce with chips as both myself and my partner are vegan only to find chicken in the curry and and what can only have been chicken stock used in the black bean sauce my partner is now throwing up and I’m feeling very ill knowing I’ll be sick at some point too! After making sure both were safe for vegans to say I’m disappointed is a understatement!!

Glad I gave this place another go. The set meal for 4 is good value, the lemon chicken is nice, two bags of chicken balls. Ordered through FoodHub for the first time and got a good discount. Got an additional pork chow mein. It was far too much to order for 3 people. Crispy beef was great.

Really good service had to wait a bit but not to long but can understand as it was buzy w lots of orders so its fine, great Service staff was caring and very helpful when ordering as i have some allergies. food was fresh, hot and presentable, lots of flavour. chicken balls were crispy would suggest that the s&s sause to be thicker as it is quite runny even came w free prawn crakers that were not ordered. Really lovely experience and excellent standard for a local takeaway and delivery Service.

Disappointed! The quarter of a duck was tiny, the sweet and sour sauce for chicken balls was bland and watery. The chicken chow menu was bland, the pekin rubs were fleshless. The Kung Po prawns were nice.

This really did not tick any boxes at all. Very greasy and the food was not hot let alone warm! I also really hate it when Chinese restaurants pile on the onions to bulk the meal out as it spoils the authenticity completely;

unable to leave a review via their website. plain chow mein looked delicious in the container, however it smelt and tasted burnt. spare ribs (I believe) were deep fried and very overcooked leaving the meat brittle and hard. both dishes inedible and ended up in the bin. first time for me using this takeaway, and it will be my last.

very average over priced food and over charged on delivery as cam the long way round and was not very warm had to reheat will never go back

After a long wait, this awful takeaway delivered nasty, congealed, incorrect order. No apologies whatsoever. Please be warned - all Taverham residents - do not use this place. We recommend Chung Hing in Hellespont or Dragon Palace in Taverham. Deeply disappointed.

This is my local chinese (albeit a little drive away) and offers good food, speedy service and average prices. The place could do with some TLC but obviously as a takeaway its less of an issue.

Waste of money I had to throw most of the food away, the best thing was the beef. I won’t visit again.

I have missed late night sweet and sour chicken balls, I was pleased to end this wait here and not to be disappointed by soggy batter! Very Good.

Super fast service and great food every time. Very extensive menu, so there's definitely something for all tastes!

The food from here is delicious, although the gravy isn't quite what I would expect, it's red! However it goes really well with chicken fried rice! Would recommend this take away very much.

Great food yet again. This place is the best for real Chinese food. Living in Thorpe Marriott you have a wide choice of local takeaways. It's definitely the best of the bunch

Been living nearby and used this regularly for 8-10 years. It's above average with a great choice and now delivers which is a bonus.

They do a great Hong Kong chicken and Singapore noodles. Everything tastes freshly cooked. The best Chinese takeaway in the area

We ordered from this Chinese, and received great service and quality food. I recommend their Sweet and Sour, Chicken Balls with egg fried rice. The portion size is excellent.
