Lotus House in Norwich

We were called telling us our delivery driver had spent 15 minutes knocking on our door with no answer. First of all we hears no knocking so we assume they weren't actually at the right house, second why did the restaurant call us saying their driver was lost for 15 minutes rather than the driver calling us directly after not having the door answered for them?

Ordered a delivery and can honestly say it was the worst meal I've had. Poor ingredients, badly cooked. I spoke to Lotus House before leaving this review but they weren't at all interested.

The food was great that was not the problem, I made an innocent mistake of putting the wrong address and called up to change that because deliveroo was being a pain, the lady on the phone was great and was great help, it was the delivery person named Adam that had a problem going around a corner on his bike and had a massive attitude while I was calling up which I heard most of. saying: "it's not a me problem or a you problem (talking about the lady on the phone) and that it's their fault" reffering to me, also said that I should tip him more for making him go further when mind you the address that I accidentally put was about 35 steps away from my house. When Adam arrived and I opened the door he looked me up and down and looked overly suprised to find a teenage girl standing in the door way. The food came warm but the packaging was open making a tub of food leak and spill in the bag covering all the other tubs and bags of food which to me seemed on purpose but that does not matter, in the end the food was amazing and I got some of my curry in the end.

Delivered on time even though I imagine they were busy, chips and chicken balls were rather soggy so popped in the air fryer to crisp them up.

Really good food, would highly recommend, the delivery was bang on time too.

We don't have Chinese often but when we do we always go to Lotus House as it is the best.

Deliveroo messed up our order and the lotus staff were so helpful and took it upon themselves to deliver the missing item 👍 much appreciated!

The food was delayed arriving. Took 2 hours from us ordering it. This was disappointing as it was not as hot as it could have been. The food was okay though, the rice was nice. But the sesame chicken was just sweet and sour chicken with sesame seeds on top. We use this place a lot and usually they are better than this.

no update within app to say when order coming, had a knock on door, but when we answered thereno one there and suddenly app says enjoy your food. rang the restaurant to be told they had called us - we had no missed calls and they had stood outside our house for 10 minutes.. then when the driver got back they said they had been outside for 15 minutes.. is it 10 or 15 then.. which one. maybe update the app with your progress future. will never use the restaurant again due to the rudeness of staff.

Order turned up late and when it arrived I was told I had to pay cash which I didn’t have so my friend had to go and get the money which was also £5 more than on the app. When we opened the containers the order was incorrect. I ordered vegetable chow mien and received roast pork (not vegetarian) and ordered plain chow mien not fried rice

Ordered a take away, had a spring roll that was soggy, crispy shredded beef where the sauce was congealed around the beef, greasy sweet and sour chicken and dry egg fried rice. Absolutely awful.

Solid take away. Not going to win any prizes for the best Chinese food in the world but was definitely a pretty solid choice and certainly much better than a lot of Chinese food I’ve had! Really good value too especially if you order directly and collect. Was ready on time and the staff were friendly

First time using Lotus. The food was the best I’ve had from a Norwich Asian takeaway. Not dry, or overcooked, nor cooked in the afternoon and heated in the evening. Food was hot too. That said there was a lot of grease or something greasy and pungent on the cracker bag. Thanks. 😊

Do not order from here, the chow mein was mushy, greasy and just horrible. I got really bad food poisoning and took a week to recover, just writing this review is making me feel icky. -10/10

Food lovely delivery driver polite

I have to say this was probably one of the best shredded chilli beef dishes I've ever had! The chow mein was equally incredible! I will definitely be ordering again.

Well well well.. This Chinese was recommended by a friend with a 2 year olds pallet and I can see why !! Ordered a set meal for 2.. chicken balls, chicken Chow mein, beef in black bean and egg fried rice.. The best part of this was seeing it go in the bin after 7 or 8 mouhfulls.. The Chow mein was oily to the point you could see oil on individual noodles.. The egg fried rice was drier than my grandad and he's been dead 25 years.. The chicken balls were small.. oily and overcooked.. And the absolute show stopper was the beef.. if I'd have wanted to chew something for more than 10 minutes I'd have spent 55 pence on a packet of gum from the corner shop.. the oil these guys are cooking in, I can understand why there are protestors blocking the roads!! No idea what you guys are dishing out, but it needs to stop.. also I paid £2 for delivery as to which I was told to collect it from a driver outside.. I know my friend is a weasel, and I'm sure he's recommended this place for a laugh, but honest to god I'd rather have eaten sawdust than wasted £21 on this sheer utter muck.. A succulent Chinese meal.. democracy Manifest.. I THINK NOT !!!!

Ordered takeaway Food absolutely dreadful Ordered house curry and special chop suey. Sauce in curry was so watery as was sauce in the chop suey. No where near the standard of food you would expect from a Chinese. £25 for this A disgrace to Chinese food.

The food was hot and absolutely delicious, this is the second time we’ve used these guys and both times it’s been fresh, quick ans full of flavour! Thanks for remembering my sweet and sour sauce too guys! We will be back next Saturday 👍

Tasty and good value, speedy service

Unfortunately the oil the food was cooked in was old. The chips and prawn crackers tasted bad. The chicken curry was not as good as it normally is. Shame, as the food is usually very good.

Much quicker than expected, but it would be good if takeaways used the delivery statuses correctly. The app notified me that my takeaway was out for delivery after I’d finished eating it 🤣

Absolutely disgusted! Driver allegedly turned up to my property 30 mins ago no phone call no attempt of delivery when I called the restaurant I was told there was nothing they could do about it its a just eat problem they! Was offered to collect the food (why I would want cold 30 min old food is beside the point) I have a new born baby so can not just go and collect if I could I would have done this instead of ordering online! Wouldn’t cancel my order and told its a just eat problem! No way of requesting a refund either!

Please learn to cook ribs correctly or take them of your menu they as dry as cardboard

Usually really good normally 6 stars … not tonite , pancake roll soft , Chips soggy chicken soggy very disappointed

Despite having a large order of £100 + the restaurant still delivered on time with the food still piping hot and great quality as I always have had with this restaurant

Delivery driver was rude, banged on the door and handed me the food without a word. Food was cold and needed to be reheated in the microwave. Had to call to see where the order was - driver had just left but the app had said delivery was on its way 40 minutes previous. Shame - as have always ordered from here but dubious to order again

Great food and arrived faster than estimated.

Lid wasn't closed properly on chop suey so all juice poured out. Had to empty each item individually and wipe over as sticky. Such a shame as some of the food was lovely. Might be nice if the ribs had meat on them.

Best Chinese on just eat at the moment, don’t bother with anywhere else. Everything is always fresh, hot and flavourful.

Cold, expensive, beef with mushrooms would be ideal for a vegetarian as I couldn’t find any meat in it. I can’t believe how overpriced this was. To be honest if they keep serving up rubbish like this people will go elsewhere or avoid takeaways altogether. Not impressed. Avoid.

The shredded chilli crispy beef that we ordered was cold and the tub had a very small portion. This is disappointing as the other food was all very nice.

Really not impressed!!! I made Lotus House aware of my allergy, they even called me to confirm my allergy yet i find prawn in my chicken chow mein, something that should not even contain prawn in the first place! I am incredibly lucky to of caught it soon as it hit my plate as I would be in A&E right now if i didn't! I've not been able to eat any of what we ordered because how can I trust it wasn't also cooked with prawn. This is not ok and a very serious food health and safety concern. A report to Norwich City Council has been submitted. I can't say I'll ever be ordering from here again as I simply cannot take the risk.

The food was very cold, we ordered prawns on toast and it was so dry we couldn’t eat it. The pancakes were ice cold and a lot with holes in them.

this is my local Chinese and it never disappoints, I’ve probably ordered from here over 100 times and I’ve never been disappointed. I recommend the sesame chicken dish with chicken noodles and they do really good spring rolls ;)

I think they ran out of salt and msg for my meal... Also, the beef tested like a gas station hamburger and the chicken breast looked like it came from a ready meal. The "peking style" sauce for the chicken was just vinegary af sweet chilli sauce with a splash of ginger syrup. Why did I do this to myself?

Good Chinese but we ordered at 6.20 and the food took over 2 hours to arrive. I called and the lady was very nice, explained they'd been extremely busy, basically I think they forgot our order and sent it out only when we chased it up. Made all the more annoying as this was supposed to be birthday meal for our boy, so everyone was then really late on a school night

Normally this is my go to Chinese, I never order from anywhere else. However, I’ve been really disappointed tonight. My chips arrived cold and stale, I ordered scezhuan style chicken and I’m not sure what I received but I’m pretty sure it was not shat and the noodles were very dry. If this has been my first experience of Lotus house I would never go back 😞 food also normally arrives early but tonight it only just arrived within the delivery slot given, talking 1 minute later and it would’ve been out of the slot

Sadly the rice was really brown and the food didn't have much flavour.

Best prawn toast I've ever eaten, handmade too, good prices will use again!

It said on the app that the food had been delivered when it hadn’t. Called the restaurant to see what was going on and they said the driver tried knocking on the door for 20 minutes. This is an apartment building so no knocking, just type in the number and press the bell. Said this to the lady who answered the phone and she said that the driver also did this. I decided to check if the bell was working (it was.) after waiting an hour for food, then waited another 40 mins for food to be redelivered. Food wasn’t even delivered to door this time, driver called to say they were waiting in the taxi rank down the road. Which was great as I was babysitting so difficult to get out of the flat. Food arrived and was simply okay.

Great good , Singapore chow mien was a little disappointing, no spice whatsoever. But won’t deter from using again as rest of food lovely 😊
