We eat at The Pheasant quite often, despite it being a 30 mins drive from home. Great homemade Italian food using local produce. Indulgent puddings. Pity it’s closed between November and March

Spent hogmanay in here and had a lovely meal and night. There's lots of wee nooks and crannies to this restaurant and we were seated in the back area beside the log fire which was fantastic. Two portions of mussels to start with and then my husband had a salami and olive pizza and I had smoked salmon penne. Food was delicious and service excellent, this is our second time in this restaurant when we are on holiday in moffat, if we stayed local I can safely say I would be in here all the time

A really good authentic family Italian restaurant - we absolutely loved it! This restaurant had wonderful food, we had the clam spaghetti and calamari which was excellent and then all had a pizza, amazing! We also enjoyed a delicious bottle of chianti. Good atmosphere with local people and tourists to the area and the staff were very professional and friendly, excellent service! If we were ever back in Dumfries we’d definitely go back.
