Pizza Express in Dumfries & Galloway

Food was great, service very slow, to the point kids were agitated, 2nd visit first time wasn't long after it's opening and was just as bad but we gave them the benefit of the doubt with being new but sadly after a yr or so it's no better. Will I return?, probably not

We had a fantastic experience on Sunday. Alana looked after us. She was so friendly and helpful. Our 10 month old daughter spilt my husbands drink, and she was straight over to clear it up and replace the drink FOC. Alana helped us with the app to ensure we got the special offers. The chef was happy to make something a little off menu, i wanted the garlic prawn on a base that wasn’t on the menu but he done it for me. Actually, it wasn’t just Alana who was amazing - all staff interacted with our children, checked everything was ok and in general just made us feel really welcome. Thanks everybody we will definitely be back :)

Please be warned! By far the worst pizza express I’ve ever been to. Slow service waiting for food for 1hr with it being cold. Terrible, terrible, terrible!!

Our first visit to Caledonia Park, and we’re so glad we stopped by Pizza Express! Our server, Dave, was incredibly welcoming and friendly, making us feel right at home. The food came out super fast and was absolutely delicious – just what we needed after a day of travelling up from Yorkshire. Great service and a lovely atmosphere.

First time for us at Pizza Express. It was really nice, gorgeous goats cheese and spinach pizza, although a bit big, but who doesn't love leftovers the next day! Our waiter "Dave" was excellent 👌 only his second day 👏

Table was at 16.30 and was promptly seated. Food was good and everyone enjoyed their meal despite the hour wait for it to arrive (larger group).

Busy and noisy, staff are run off their feet. Maybe caught them on a bad day as friends have recommended them as a value for money. establishment

Popped in for lunch on way back home. Service was good and starter fine. When mains came they were not hot. We didn’t have time to wait for more food. Manager was fair and took a bit off the bill.

Long wait for some pizza that was bland and greasy. Would not recommend.

Took my son in for a wee treat, the pizzas were incredible, I had a sloppy giussepe and my son had an American. Polenta fries were so good too. Staff were friendly and polite 😊

Food was far nicer than our local Edinburgh branch. Staff were fantastic. Went over and above to make our family welcome.

Travelled from Newcastle family were hungry stopped off at Gretna Green in for a pizza the chef's who were on were amazing the pizzas were brilliant and the staff were attentive to our needs and polite would definitely recommend Gretna Green pizza expess food great

Very disappointed. Visited with my son on a Sunday afternoon. The server was very polite and brought drinks and starter promptly. Despite the restaurant being quite quiet, we had to wait a further 50 minutes for the food to arrive. Half of the pizza was luke warm and the rest cold. Did not enjoy at all. How does it take so long to make one cold pizza?

Very good service at the end of our shopping g trip worked up an appetite and enjoyed our time in the restaurant

Visited this evening with my family and whilst the food was nice, the service was terrible. We were sat down and ordered quite quickly but then as it started getting busier our waitress disappeared into thin air. Other staff were busy and serving customers well but sadly we weren't sat on one of their tables. By the time our mains came we were sat surrounded by dirty tables covered in plates - 6 out of the 8 empty tables around us. These never got cleaned the entire time we were there. A couple were sat on the table behind us. After 30 minutes they gave up waiting to order drinks or food and walked out. We sat with empty plates in front of us for 40 minutes before we finally managed to get the attention of our waitress to order desserts for our children. When she came back with those, she even bother to clear the dirty plates! Went to the desk to pay and she eventually stopped playing with the stickers to come take our payment. She tried to get us to pay the wrong bill and asked if we wanted to leave a tip - what a joke! Won't be rushing back which is a shame as its always been good in the past.

I was running late for my booking at 3.30pm. I called to say I would be running late and could I pre-order my meals as I was on a long journey. Nothing was too much trouble. I was 20 minutes late for my table and within 5 minutes of being seated the food pre-ordered was on the table for four people! I can’t tell you how impressed I was. The service was some of the best I have ever had and I eat out A LOT! This experience has made me fully brand loyal to Pizza Express and the restaurant is a credit to your chain! Top, top marks!

Waited for 10 minutes with 3 waitresses totally ignoring us at the door. Two came to the reception area where we were stood and ignored us as well. We took our custom elsewhere. Appalling customer service.

Gluten free menu is excellent and quality of food fairly decent

My husband and I went for an early dinner because our Tesco partner voucher was nearing expiring date. We were so impressed with the staff , especially the young person Sophie that met us at the door. She couldn’t have been more welcoming. She saw that my husband was having mobility difficulties and seated us near the door. The food was fine, served hot by very good servers. SOPHIE is a credit to your company.

We had a lovely meal here this evening. As a family with 3 kids we always head to Pizza Express as the food is excellent and prices are reasonable - the set menu for the kids is especially excellent, and they love the colouring sheets/activities that are always provided. Wanted to say a special thank you to the staff though: they were very attentive and friendly, and extremely patient and good humoured with my 3 indecisive children!

This was our second visit in the last 12 months and both visits have been pretty consistent. Good professional service and a clean establishment. We were served very quickly and in a friendly manner. My wife is gluten free so we shared a pizza. The pizza was lovely and fresh but the cost of one pizza and two lattes came to just over £22. I agree with a previous review that it's certainly not value for money and overpriced. Shall be looking for somewhere else when visiting the Outlet Village

Piping hot tasty food, friendly service and nice decor. We used our Tesco vouchers too, so a great lunch.

This is in a shopping centre and wasn't particularly busy. The food was hot and tasty and the service was good. I will return and recommend.

Arrived to find 1 waitress and 1 manager on shift. Was told the wait for food would be 40 minutes which we agreed to as this was fine. However 30 minutes passed and we had still not ordered drinks or our meals. To make matters worse multiple tables who came in after us were served before us after trying to get the waitresses attention multiple times. Feel as though we were being ignored. Will not return, not a welcoming environment. Walked out.

We were served by Amy who was a great waitress. She was very attentive and friendly. We had a slight issue with the food which was resolved quickly and the manager was very helpful with this.

Ordinary american pizza thin crust £18. Very average chain shop pizza was ok

Called in for pizza on our way to Cairnryan. Staff were very helpful & friendly. Pizzas were very good & worth the money.

We’ve been here many times, and always had a lovely meal. Unfortunately this time, the food service was quite slow. I definitely felt like the portion sizes had reduced, but the price has definitely gone up. Sadly it’s now far too expensive for a casual family treat, we’d need to head elsewhere.

Cost plenty for what you got on the plate wont go again

It’s a bit of a faff if you want to take up the offer of free garlic bread. Download the app then bits and bobs in there knowing that you will be bombarded with emails etc then have to show the waitress this at checkout. Everyone in your party must download the app to receive the freebie’s. Can’t fault the food though.

I've given 4 stars not 5 only because of the price, I find Pizza express really quite expensive. We love it but can only go a couple of times a year as we find it quite expensive.

Quite expensive for the portion size, a lot of things are frozen and not homemade. (Expected for a chain restaurant). Friendly staff and clean environment.

Super friendly and lovely store, went to collect a too good to go bag but they had cancelled, good in a way there wasn't any food going to waste but unfortunately not when I had driven 20 miles to get it. Staff were so friendly and helpful and because I treated them with respect and kindness they returned this and I was sent away with some fresh food. Great branch with lovely staff.

On my first visit to this Pizza Express I had arranged to meet a friend inside out of the cold, and sat at a window table until she arrived a couple of minutes later. A waitress marched across to ask me if I had just sat down without being directed to a table which I had done without thinking. She then chastised me saying I should not have sat down and was supposed to wait at the door. The restaurant was practically empty and remained this way with perhaps four tables occupied throughout our stay and yes it was my mistake. I was embarrassed that the waitress felt the need to correct me in front of my friend and the few diners there present. I am a pensioner and the waitress was perhaps in her mid 20s. Not the best approach to customer service, a most unwelcoming greeting. The other waitresses who served us were pleasant, no complaints about the food.

Staff friendly. Food was quick and changes that I wanted were done with no issues atall.

Awesome food, awesome staff and awesome atmosphere I went with my partner for a lovely lunch date, it wasn't very busy at the time the service was out of this world so very attentive and very speedy even when it got a little bit busier while we where there we went forgotten about and service was still awesome well done all o yer and we will be back very soon

Sloppy expensive pizza 4 small bits chicken 2 rings red onion the bottom of the pizza was so soggy you couldn't pick it up and very difficult to cut place wasn't busy took 40 minutes to get the sloppy mess

Came for the Christmas dough balls but couldn't make them. Food was good, but service was incredibly slow. Pollo fiesta was good, went for the thin crust but didn't expect it to be so thin I could see through it

£17 for a pizza 🍕 in a roomful of uncontrolled screeching kids. I understand that badly behaved children are not the fault of Pizza express, hey" ho" never again.

We came to celebrate my sister birthday 🥳 and experienced we had was amazing . The restaurant has been busy but the team never stopped, shout out to Caz our server who went above and beyond with preparing our table lovely balloons and confetti. Big Thanks to the chef who came out to sing happy birthday despite how busy they were . Very highly recommended place 100 %%% we will be back very soon

Visited with my guest on Sunday evening and was impressed with the experience. Free parking and warm friendly welcome. The restaurant was clean including the floor! The menu offers a good choice of pizza and pasta. We had pizza which was tasty and presented nicely. I’m Coeliac so aware before choosing somewhere to eat. The menu offered a selection of gluten free options, and the staff were fully aware of gluten free requirements. I had confidence in the restaurant’s responsibility. We greeted by a friendly, hospitality professional – Zuza. We were impressed by Pizza Express’s commitment and investment to staff development. It was demonstrated in the special touches which achieve exceptional customer service.

Having just popped in while visiting some shops, was pleasantly surprised what a great atmosphere and service we received. Food was very fresh and tasty. Staff incredibly helpful and friendly. Big shout out to the manager, she went above and beyond to give us great service.

Never touch the gluten free pizza. Rubbish. I know it's difficult, but many have managed it. This is slimy tomato sauce on cardboard. Mine had four shrimps on it for £16! Expensive for the poor food served up today. Non gluten free was good and enjoyed by all. But I'm fed up od food chains getting away with serving GF rubbish. DO YOUR HOMEWORK and get better!!

Definitely one of the best pizza express we have visited. Food was very good and excellent service. Always have good gluten free options. Some nice new additions to the menu and would recommend the hot honey doughballs. The Gretna village does sadly seem to be in decline but it was a real pleasure to visit this restaurant and will hopefully return.

Family visit with 10 of us for our daughters 13th Birthday Meal and the staff were excellent from the moment we arrived. The food was excellent, came quickly and tasted superb. I can highly recommend the Calzone 'Nduja for anyone that likes a 'Spicy Pizza' it was fantastic. We brought our own Birthday Cake and Claire provided us with some plates, spoons and even some pots of cream to put on the slices of cake at no charge. Overall a perfect experience in a nice family restaurant that was very clean with easy parking and a great team serving us.

Turned up an hour before the restaurant closed on a Sunday. Over 50% of tables empty and got turned away as they needed to do a big stock check. Not sure that this is a good enough reason to turn people away. Shouldn't this be done after hours? Pretty poor service. Disappointed.

Can usually easily get a table but you’re going to pay for the privilege! We came here for lunch on a Tuesday and entered at 12pm, we had to wait to be seated (not sure why we had to wait as there was only one table taken) - we chose a half booth. We knew there was some free offers if we signed up to the app so my partner signed up and we had a look at the offers. The waitress came over to take our order, we explained that we wanted to use the 3 courses for £19.99 offer which was fine, we put our order in but she never told us that the deal didn’t include the starter that we chose (dough balls with cheese) so we ended up spending more than we had to. Our drinks arrived, two glass bottles of Coca Cola (priced at £3.05 each!) these were nice but I was shocked at the price. The cheesy dough balls arrived and as nice as they were, the cheese was incredibly stringy which my partner struggled with… I’d happily have them again though, they were very moreish. Our pizzas arrived, we both opted for the Classic Americano but I added chicken and mushroom on to mine - the additional chicken was £2.50 and the mushrooms were £2… 8 SLICES of mushroom for £2 - I really don’t know where they get their prices from… The pizzas were ok but they both lacked in cheese and the tomato sauce was very overpowering… In total our lunch came to £46 - very disappointing and I won’t be rushing back, I’d much rather go to Bella Italia or Zizzi - they are a lot better value for money.

Varied menu and attentive service

We arrived in as it opened and was sceptical about the quality of the food, however I was wrong - outstanding!! The staff were polite and helpful, service was fast and the food was delicious. I would definitely return here.
