Food was very plane, asked for no jalapeño’s and there were some in are Buritto. Very disappointed ☹️ was like mush

place used to hit now it is genuinely terrible after the new management, food is extremely soggy and tastes really bad

Used to be the best food I have ever tasted, but now under new management and with a new chef the food totally falls flat of the expectations I had for it. Not to mention they never listen to my requests of only the hot sauce dip and ignore it and send me the guac and sour cream every time unlike the old guy. It's like watching a love one deteriorating quickly. I will always remember the glory days 🥲.

This place used to make legendary takeaways and the food slapped harder than a dad joke at Christmas. Then it got hit with refurbishments, and ever since the new guy took over, it's been on a steady decline. The new food is a pale imitation and a sad excuse of its former glory, and requests for customisations are met with a shrug and slap in the face when asking for their "Red Sauce" - which seems to have gone as mysteriously as the good times. This disappointment is like watching your favourite pub turn into a juice bar - just sad and leaves you yearning for the good old days. My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined.

Under new management but the food is delicious. The steak and chicken fajitas tacos were spectacular. The guacamole was the best I've had. The steak burrito had so much flavour it was fantastic Looking forward to next time

Toppings were nice and they were generous with avacado and soured cream, but the chips were stale and bland. Not putting cheese on the nachos main was also an interesting choice...

We really enjoyed our first visit here and will definitely go again because we love mexican food and this was great. The XL quesadillas and a portion of tacos was perfect between two and the service was super friendly.

Nice quelsado! Never had one before so it was good value for the beef one and a few nice nachos too. I will come into store next time to try, as it was ordered via Uber so took a while to arrive 8/10 Second order: Try the chili beans box! It's a vegetarian box of goodness, so surprised how nice it was and filling too, the beans are superb quality as well as the wrap!!! Nice touch with the refried beans and rice on the side! Deliveroo speedy delivery! 10/10

Great food in pretty big portions. Could do with being hotter but I do live pretty far away from them so I won't hold it against them.

I usually use a Mexican chain on London Road but they were sold out of chicken fajitas which caused me to come across tacos Mx , food was amazing , so fresh, flavours bursting and extremely large portions for such a good price . Real authentic Mexican food . This is definitely going to be my go to Mexican takeaway from now

Food is always amazing!! Fish tacos are a personal favourite. Customer service is the best you’ll receive from anywhere. Always very welcoming and friendly. I have visited and eaten at various Mexican restaurants/takeaways, but none have come close to Tacos MX!

Delicious tacos were served here! Get your own homemade Mexican food in-house or delivered to your door. Small portions, flavours of canned food, tortilla chips from supermarket (not totopos...) Missing onion, coriander and flavour! Lately they've drop quality massively...

First time trying their food and won’t be the last. The food was cooked to order and was so fresh and flavourful. The steak tacos were delicious, a nice spice and a lot of steak for the size. Chicken nachos were amazing, plenty of toppings for the amount of crunchy nacho chips. The chicken was delicious, tender and just the right amount of spice. All toppings were fresh and went well together. Plenty to share. The potato burrito we got as we’d never heard of it before and were super surprised by how tasty it is. The burrito was huge and absolutely packed full. It all goes so well and really complements the entire meal. Won’t be the last time we eat from Tacos MX

Driver put my food down on the ground, not happy

Food was delivered on time but was awful, I have used this place manager time and the food is usually wonderful, my tortilla chips are burnt and well over cooked. There is no no chilli the quesadilla’s are awful the chicken is too over cooked to even chew and have an added side of equally burnt and distrusting tortillas. I want my money back.

Wow, I am genuinely surprised me and my partner bought the meal for 2 it was £25 got churros, quesadilla, taco and a drink absolutely huge portions. We didnt have any cash however one of the staff said it’s a one off, absolutely amazing service !!!

Tacos MX is by far the best authentic Mexican food this side of the Atlantic! The fish tacos are as good as any in Baja California. Alejandro is a wonderful, fun and accommodating host! I celebrated my birthday there with friends and family and couldn’t be more welcomed. The quality of the food and atmosphere is what makes Tacos MX amazing - don’t be put off by the location. Best kept secret in Southampton.

Best tasting most authentic Mexican restaurant and take away in town. Make use of the taco Tuesday deal. Always friendly. The nacho cheese has changed from real melted cheese to American squirt which upsets me but their burritos, tacos and Chipotle sauce are next level!!

Ordered from Uber Eats after wanting to try Mexican food for the first time and I was not disappointed! Huge portions, really flavourful and tasty and great prices as well! Had to finish my burrito the next day because it was that big! Definitely ordering from them again! If you want to try Mexican food and need a place: then race to Tacos MX!

Ordered multiple dishes here with high hopes but let down by every one of them. Birria was advertised to come with consome but not included in the order. Presentation was beautiful, portion sizes were great BUT everything was lacking flavour. Very bland and disappointing!

Everything about this meal was incredibly tasty and very good value for money. Loved it! Thank you. Just a little frustrated that the delivery time kept being pushed back with amended delivery times. Difficult when you are 5 floors up in a hotel and not really knowing what time you should be at the reception desk to receive the order.

We ordered tacos from this place for the first time tonight after reading the good reviews. I was really pleased with the service and delivery (through Deliveroo) and the presentation and value for money was great, but 4 of the 6 taco fillings we got were way too salty. I love salt, but these were so salty they almost burned your mouth. This was a real shame as you could tell that the meats and the rest of the seasoning were amazing. Hopefully, it was just a slip up in the kitchen as these were so close to being perfect and definitely the most authentic Mexican I've had in the region. I will try again and fingers crossed they will be nicely seasoned (please don't get rid of salt as it's vital, but maybe just tone it back so we can taste something else!).

FOOD IS SO GOOOOD ! Served by Alex who was absolutely amazing, went above and beyond and great to talk to. Music here was a vibe and the colours and sombreros were great fun. AND THE FOOD. These are the best tacos I have ever had. Very simple but the meat is so tasty and juicy that you don’t need much else. Very generous with the portions - I always struggled to close the tacos. I can’t wait to go back again!!

You can tell from some of the other comments that they’ve never had authentic Mexican food before and it shows, they’re used to artificial flavours. This isn’t Taco Bell or the other fake chains, this is pure authentic Mexican tacos made by people who strive to make their food as close as they can to back home. The food is delicious and each kind has its unique flavour. The staff are very friendly and amicable and the service is great. Highly recommend

So I visited here with my friend 1 or 2 wks agi, so sorry for not posting earlier! This is the MOST unassuming place you'd think to have food in. But I promise, you will NOT regret it. I'm someone who has had authentic Mexican food in Mexico, and in the U.S. ♡ Pros: - Lots of menu options! - The service! Super fast, friendly and hospitable af - The quality of food for the price - The quantity of food! As I expected this would be like standard UK Mexican food joints, I ordered 6 tacos. I could only finish 3. They were authentic, absolutely filled to the brim with so much flavour. I had no sides. This was the best thing I could order though, as it allowed me to try a lot of the different taco options they had on the menu. - My friend said that it was the best Carnitas he's ever had. - Our waiter had a lamb taco made specifically for me 🥺 as I had said earlier on I like lamb. - Homemade salsa was delicious, as well as the other sauces given. The guacamole was fresh af, and the garlicy sauce also complimented things well - The kitchen staff was also so adorable and kind × Cons: - If I was to have a con, its that theres not too many sides options

We've visited twice on trips to Southampton, once for dinner for a fantastic birthday celebration, and second for pre-uni American football match at lunch time. You will not be disappointed. Rustic and small inside with the warmest welcome from all the staff. No alcohol served but you can bring your own. For those from or who have visited Mexico, you will understand me when I say they are serving the true flavours of Mexican cuisine. Parking outside for a few cars. Hats available for some photos. Would recommend. Don't leave without some churros!

Just had really great burritos here, tiny place, no frills but amazing food and really good portions! The guy cooking was so friendly! We are not local but will definitely be back when we come to Soton! We would add a photo bit we were too busy eating it! 😋

Absolutely delicious food, I'm Latín woman and I know how to distinguish good Latin food, the flavors, homemade and definitely the best Mexican I've tried in England ever , Alex super friendly and his partner, exceptional homemade food, incredible prices recommended. 200%. Excellent food AND variety. Freshly prepared and still warm as delivered early so great service as well. Would recommend chilli beef burrito and steak fajita box, my two personal faves. 👍👍

Fantastic fresh food at a really decent price. Collected this time and treated the office, everyone loved the food and the chap serving in the restaurant was really lovely and gave us a few pots of new sauce to try! Which were all delicious. Would highly recommend!

Authentic Mexican dishes, knowledgeable and helpful chef, really generous portions, and most importantly, absolutely delicious food! The only thing that needs a little work is the decor. We will be back here again for sure.

Tacos were soft tortilla tacos, this was not made clear in the menu, dissappointed with the made for kids soft tacos. fajitas were served deconstructed with the wraps chucked on top of the refried beans, salsa and wilted salad all in the same box, safe to say the tortilla wraps were steamed through and soggy, again this was not made clear on the menu if it was supposed to arrive this way. the only saving grace was the fact the burrito was done half decently. all in all would not purchase from here again

These other reviews seem a tad exaggerated, I had the chilli beef tacos. The portion size is OK I guess and it tastes ok but nothing amazing. The chilli sauce provided seemed a tad watery and the flavour wasn't particularly intense. The guac had a unpleasant aftertaste. I'll try more menu items in the future so the rating may change (3 star). Edit: The churros are actually pretty amazing +1 star. Pork burrito was rather meh.

Best Mexican food in Southampton! Im American and this is the closest thing I can find to Mexican food in the states. Get extra tortilla chips 🥰 anything he makes is delicious! He’s half Mexican and half Turkish. I’ll be back soon!

This was our first meal from Tacos MX and we were not disappointed. The food was very tasty and there was plenty of it. I had the chicken fajita burrito. My partner had the chilli beef quesadilla. He assures me it was delicious and he would definitely have it again. We also had the churros, which again were beautiful. Our whole meal was full of flavour. Thank you Tacos MX

This was our first time with this restaurant. I have to say, while everything was tasty across the board most things were slightly over cooked. I would also say portions are slightly small for what you pay for and would definitely recommend more than one dish per person (depending on what you order you may need three items to fill you up). I would, however, use this restaurant again and certainly give them the benefit of the doubt. If the menu could be altered to make ordering all sauces easier, that would also streamline the experience.

Very nice quesadillas, they were super busy but the guy still had time to talk and was really friendly. Very authentic food and great tasting. I will be back!

Not sure what service everyone was talking about. Had high hopes for this place but the food and service didn't deliver. Food wasn't good, and service was terrible. Did not enjoy that experience at all. I never write reviews but was compelled to write this after that experience so others don't waste their money.

Had the tacos the other night I got 3 different flavours which were nice but they just put them all in the same box and it mushed together. I think you should think of a better method as it really let's you down. Edit. Thanks for your reply 👍 your food is nice just wanted to let you know

Had our first meal at Tacos MX tonight - and really impressed with the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff. They couldn't do more to help you with the menu and guide your through their Mexican delights. This is the only REAL Mexican restaurant in the city - cooked by real Mexicans and you can taste the difference. Eat in or take away. Definitely going back.

Just had a takeaway from here, it was absolutely amazing. The best mexican food we've ever had. So happy we gave it a go, it was so authentic and fresh, you could taste evey ingredient, everything f was perfectly seasoned. Honestly, I don't usually leave reviews, but I just had to with this place, so impressed! Can't wait to eat there again!

Real Mexican tortillas and flavours

One of those little shoestring places which looked a bit uninviting from the outside, but don't be deterred, ventrue in and you will find a nicely decorated seating area and friendly service. Try the carnitas and fish tacos, those were our favourites. Kids will like this too and you can even have a photo wearing colourful sombreros! Pretty reasonably priced, we were quite full after spending 10 or 12 quid each. Try the churros for dessert! One other nice taco place in Soton is Mexifun, we slightly preferred this place though.
