Although the sushi (was) great, there is always something with Taberu. You order, pay, they call you that they don’t have 75% of the items. So you will wait now 10 for the refund (+£50). If not that, than they deliver sushi for 4 people (+£70) with two tiny packs of soy sause and 2 artificial wasabi! I mean this is a main part of the sushi experience. So unfortunately, that’s it for me, never again, after 7 ordered at Taberu, I need a new sushi place.

I just ordered from just eats and I’ve never received my order. I just reported it to the website and I kept calling their number and they still haven’t picked up Update: they’re a bunch of scammers ! They accepted my order pretending they were open but they were actually closed . Pack of thieves. Worst part is is that they assigned a driver knowing no one would come. Horrible business dishonest and pack of liars and theives . I’m owed a refund and reported it to this just eats website.

What a strange experience. Popped in with my daughters yesterday evening after spotting they were doing 20% off for dine-in. We'd had takeaway before and enjoyed it, although felt it was a little overpriced. Looks inviting from outside - clean, contemporary interior, tastefully decorated with artificial cherry blossom around the lighting. We should have looked more closely at the other couple of diners - we would have noticed they still had their coats and gloves on. It was freezing! We probably should have left, but decided to stay because the menu options looked good. It was completely silent in the restaurant and deserted, apart from a nervous looking boy who occasionally appeared to hand over takeaways and looked bewildered whenever we asked for anything (like soy sauce to go with our sushi). He said that he thought the heating was broken and then disappeared again, but I wonder if they simply can't afford to have it on. The food arrived and wasn't bad, although the Katsu chicken bao buns were a bit disappointing. We had a laugh about it, but I'm not sure I've ever eaten anywhere so completely lacking in basic customer care - order and pay via app, sit and freeze while you eat, and basically be completely ignored from the point you walk in to the point you leave. Pity because a little effort from the owners could transform the experience.

We have been regular clients for nearly 2 years, but we have decided to not order or dine in here ever again!!! PLEASE DO NOT EAT THERE! The last time we had dinner at the restaurant and the last delivery home we did were absolutely unacceptable. The quality of the meals is very poor compared to before. They’re serving way less quantity than before - ridiculous amounts for what you pay. And the dishes are missing most of their ingredientes. This has happened to me the last two times I ate there. The last soup I ordered was meant to have loads of ingredients (eggs, Narutomaki, Walmart, etc). I know because I had it many times in the past. However today the soup was just noodles, chicken and broth. Nothing else!!! The customer service at the restaurant is terrible. They leave you unattended and you have to keep calling them from the corridor. The guys who work there never have a clue of anything. Also, the restaurant lacks hygiene, the tables are greasy, the cutlery is dirty. Disgusting! And this time that I complained over the phone about the lack of ingredients in the soup, the lady was really not bothered about it and was not apologising at all. So rude! I requested a refund for the lack of ingredients in the soup and the fact that the other dish was just half of what it is usually and she said she could only refund for the soup. I hope I do get it though, because it’s really annoying to be treated this way. I made it clear to her that THEY’VE LOST CLIENTS as we’re not going back ever again and will tell our friends then same. The lady didn’t really mind this comment though… Hope management does something about it!

It’s a scam - do not eat here. No food and no refund given. You have to pay up front before the food arrives, after paying we were informed that the food we ordered actually wasn’t available. I asked for a refund and was told they don’t have a terminal to refund the card. I have been chasing for three weeks and still no refund. It’s a shame as I want to support local business, but not when it’s fraudulent.

Food are not delicious as before , and even worse is the rice is cold with Bento and the soup of Ramen is salty and not hot, menu is not updated while two things ordered but eventually they cannot deliver. Have been eating a few times before that this was a good restaurant and food was awesome . Now they put 20% off notice but asked you to order online without 20% off , you won’t see the waiter until they deliver the dishes , so be prepared to help yourself to get utensils, cups , water, sauces yourself. I don’t recommend to go as I won’t go again , so disappointed to lose a once good Japanese restaurant .

Just had a delivery for £60, the order had 5 items missing eventhough they were ticked on the receipt! The food it self was very poor. The cartons were only half full and the majority of the food was so bland I had to add soy sauce to get any flavour what so ever. Part of the order was luke warm. When I rang to complain the man on the end of the phone couldn't care less and half way through my complaint he hang up!!. I have had food from here before and to be fair it has been ok, but after tonight's tasteless effort I will not be ordering again and I advise others not to either. Owners, if you read this feel free to ring me and apologise for the rudeness of your staff and allow me to fully explain how bad this meal was.

i ordered many times from 2016-2020... the food frankly was amazing... ordered tonight and was shocked at how much its changed... no idea if they changed chef or other staff but it really wasnt the sort of quality i expected... food arrived cold... and i had to heat it in the oven... that never used to happen... the Yaki Soba duck noodles had way too much sauce... not enough duck meat... and portion was smaller than usual... the gyoza was lovely and the star of the show... the Prawn Katsu wasnt bad but it used to be better... hope things improve and i dont want to be unfair as i remember Taberu being consistently excellent in the old days... thank you 4/5! 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Incredibly disappointing! We would order (deliveroo) regularly before, during and after Covid. However, the quality of food has seriously decreased in taste and value over the past few months. The Szechuan aubergines with chicken in chilli sauce veges and rice was always a family favourite but after recently ordering this for the second time. I forgave you the first time but, even then that was disgusting. Nothing on this occasion was worth salvaging. The tasteless mush we received was not fit for purpose. You’ll only get one star and that was only because the bao burger was nice but the (New) Cheese Gyoza was non-existent!! Which I paid an extra £1 for and only received the chicken gyoza. No note or apology. Taberu Kingston you’ve lost a customer which is a shame. But, shame on you for serving well below decent food!!

We have had this many times and it's always been really nice. This time was horrible. The bento box came with a completely different sauce (curry rather than the ones it's always previously come with), salad section was very small normally there is more salad. The rest of the box was very bland and didn't taste cooked the same at all. Not sure if they have changed their chef but this was very disappointing to all previous orders from this restaurant. We ordered two chicken katsu bento boxes and the aubergine and chocolate mochi through ubereats.

Funny place. Various drinks not in stock, have to ask for soy and wasabi and the wasabi that's provided is grim so have learnt to bring my own tube (pictured). The food however is really tasty and I will be back, it's just certain basics in the service aren't where they should be. As long as you bear that in mind (and byo wasabi!) you'll have a nice time.

I order from this place every week as the food is 'normally' amazing! Order the Katsu chicken curry and it arrived, it was 'luke warm', now I only live a 3min walk from restaurant but had just done a 3hr drive and wanted something delivering, they are quick and fast with food. I rang up... a guy said... I'll have to ring my manager and will call you in 10 minutes... 25mins later, no phone call & my foods cold, he said - oh yeah, my manager said you can have a 30% disc on your next order... I'm sorry but I didn't want a discount on another order. I just wanted hot food, especially as I live so close! This is not good customer service at all and they will lose a very regular customer, their food isn't exactly cheap either! 🙄 I ordered direct with them too as had issue before through justeat and they refunded me my money! Taberu.... you really need to sort out your customer service skills!

Placed an order through their website, paid delivery fee and tip, after more than 30 minutes waiting past delivery time we tried to call them up to 15 different times. End up coming to the restaurant, they told us the order didn't go through their systems, the telephone does not work, the manager is absent (they don't know where he is or when would be back), don't know how to process refunds. So here we are waiting for them to prepare the food, having paid delivery and with no refund. Awful service **Update** While waiting at the restaurant for such order to get ready (the one that did not go through the system) my father called as a driver was delivering the order. When I tried to call the lady from reception to the kitchen several times nobody would even come out. Leaving the restaurant and coming back home, could and disappointed. **Update** Manager called next day to apologise for the service and offered a 50% refund. Disciplinary action was taken as it seems this happened to other customers too. Changing stars from 1 to 3 for this as the food was good and the apology made a difference.

The bento boxes here are incredible, the best I've had outside of Japan, the menu has all the Japanese classics you'd expect to see . The teppanyaki will have you reminiscing of those late nights on the city streets of Osaka. Generous portion sizes will fill you up and the staff always attentive and polite. Initially sceptical having read some of the negative comments on here but my friend visits regularly and raved about the place, she was totally right, I'll definitely be coming back.

I ordered the chicken Karaage which was £6.50. What I was given was store bought, frozen pre-packaged Karaage! If I wanted that I would have gone to somewhere like Longdans's and gotten a packet with about 30 pieces of chicken for 6 quid. To add insult to injury they weren't even generous and gave me like 4 pieces of chicken! Absolute waste of money

The food is fine, however, I get off work late every night and I would love to order from this restaurant seeing as they advertise their closing for 10:15 but everytime I go to order for 9:30 and I am halfway through checkout they close their restaurants midway !!!!! Appalling customer service from this restaurant tonight. We ordered through Uber Eats and the order came but minus the rice! We phoned the restaurant and they said it wasn't their problem. We phoned Uber Eats and they apologised and refunded the cost of just the rice! We are now trying to keep our food warm (don't have a microwave) while we cook some of our own rice to complete the meal. Not what we expect. We phoned the restaurant again and they hung up on us! Shame, because we love the food here but won't be ordering again!

Ordered their food before and it was okay but second time around they demonstrated extremely poor service and customer attitude. Ordered delivery, which was due to arrive after an hour. 15 minutes after no show, we started calling the Taberu- each time it stated the user was busy. We also tried to email as we had ordered directly through the website, and had received email confirmation. Half an hour later, my husband drives directly to the restaurant , only to find that Taberu had lost our order and weren't remotely helpful. When asked why they weren't answering their phone and not responding via email, they said there was no one around to respond, therefore they had taken the phone off the hook. Where does that leave customers with problems with their orders? I am 8 months pregnant and husband is a frontline NHS doctor- Taberu were not in the slightest apologetic. Will not be ordering again, thankfully plenty of decent sushi places in the area to compete with them.

I love Taberu, I used to work locally so lunch was always a treat but fortunately I live close by and so often order takeaway for an evening. I LOVE Taberu, and really don’t understand these other reviews. The food is delicious and the staff are great, very patient and polite. The price is not bad either. It’s the best place to eat in Hampton Wick that’s for sure!

The ramen and takoyaki are my favourites. However their takeaway service hasn’t been great. I ordered this weekend and the estimated time until arrival was 1.5 hours. This was delayed twice, customer service wasn’t great when I rang up to check on an updated arrival time, and my food arrived almost 3 hours after ordering, and hot food wasn’t that warm anymore, and the restaurant refused any compensation. There are a number of reviews on JustEat with similar stories. When I have ordered here on a weeknight I haven’t had too much of a problem, but weekends seem to be incredibly unreliable for delivery times. I recommend order on a weeknight or dine in.

This is one of the only reviews I’ve ever made, but I feel Taberu really deserves good word of mouth. We only by chance stubbled across this place and were a little dubious as to some of the things on the menu. I must say however, this is one of the best takeaways I’ve ever had. I loved their innovative take on tacos with crispy seaweed, which were amazing! The sushi was on point and their ramen was a very good dish and one that I would most certainly get each time. We are sushi lovers and always looking for a great sushi places. This place is very local for us, so we decided to give it a try. As we understood place opened recently, food quality is amazing, lots of ingredient and everything is super fresh! As started we took aubergine (on the photo), just delicious and then we went for rolls only, 4 in total and I cannot tell which one was better, all amazing. Second time ordering from here. I thought the food was okay the first time and that they had just made a mistake giving me teriyaki sauce with my pumpkin and chicken katsu. Before I ordered yesterday I called to ensure this wouldn't happen again. I had a paper menu but ordered online. Surprise prices online were more expensive (I was ordering from Taberu's website not a third party). So unprofessional. Meal came WORST Chicken Katsu I have every had, chicken tasted like is was from a supermarket box and the sauce was even worse! Only good thing was that the Chocolate Mochi were as good as they were last time.

Always delicious, the pumpkin katsu curry is amazing and their veggies that accompany it are so fresh. A little pricey but so worth it as the quality is brilliant, never regret getting takeaway from here - it is our favourite!

Order was cancelled and was not notified and money was still taken. Still awaiting £60 refund almost a week later. Emailed and rang and don’t seem to be getting anywhere. Would never even attempt to order again and neither would the 5 other people who were expecting food that evening. Shame as the food looked good.

Obsessed with this place. Discovered this gem during lockdown while looking for Japanese food to be delivered. The pumpkin katsu curry is the best I’ve ever had - has a great flavour with a little bit a kick. Plus, treat yourself to the vegetable gyozas. Heaven!

Similar to others on here. Ordered via UberEats, told delivery 40 minutes later. Emailed from UberEats saying meal would not be delivered. No explanation at all and definitely no delivery attempted as we were sat in the front room waiting. Won't be giving them a second chance.

We got takeaway (collected in person) from the restaurant. It was just the most amazing food and only took 15 mins to prepare. We tried the pumpkin katsu curry, some bao buns, prawn gyoza. A special mention for the aubergine which was just out of this world. Can’t wait to order here again!

Part of the blame for my order is with Uber Eats as well as the restaurant. It took an hour and half for my food to be cooked and then delivered about 2 miles. Eventually I called the restaurant who explained that my food was cooked but my Uber driver was delivering 3-4 peoples in one ride so he was waiting for their food to be cooked too. I ended up having 3 different drivers. When my food arrived half the chilli sauce from my crispy shredded beef was over the bag because the lid wasn’t shut properly which made the food cold quicker. The food itself wasn’t terrible. Give it a 7/10. I would use the restaurant again but if the same experienced happened again I wouldn’t recommend it further.

Just picked up our first order from Taberu. We were not disappointed, the sushi was very obviously freshly made and amazing. The hot meals katsu curry, teriyaki chicken, yaka sobi noodles and bento box were really really good! They did children's portions and the staff were super friendly! We will go back for sure 😀

A joke. Ordered through Just Eat and 3 hours later i found out that the restaurant has closed and our food was not delivered. Left 5 VM's but could never even be bothered to reply to us. A request for a refund resulted in the desultory offer of £3 discount on a £75 meal. Extraordinary

Our order took almost an hour and a half to arrive and it was cold. The ramen also did not come with the broth and when we called they said they would only send out a broth in an hours time. After some time the manager agreed to a 40% discount but then never followed through on it. I emailed twice and called but there has been no response. Will not order at this restaurant again

Simply the best Japanese food in Kingston! From takoyaki to sushi to ramen, can’t even decide what to try next! the food is very tasty and delicious. Oh and don’t forget to try the dessert too! My daughter loves sushi and sashimi and this has been by far her most favourite place to eat. Decent price for the quality of food... actually the value for money is indeed achieved! Highly recommended. Will definitely go back to this place. They only have 4 tables though so make sure you call them for reservation but normally people order for delivery (based on the 7 deliveroo riders who picked up orders while we were there).

Japanese food with some Chinese options. Everything very tasty. Decent prices compared to the usual chains. Kids options available. There is a little seating if you want to eat in, but be aware that it does not currently have a customer toilet.

I absolutely love Taberu and I'm so shocked by the bad reviews from people who obviously don't appreciate good food!? The food is clearly such good quality, but still reasonably priced, the closest comparative restaraunt is Wagamama but taberu is a million times better!!! Their curry sauce is next level, the tori karange is amazing and it's the only place in the local area you can get a bento box, which is such good value!

Absolutely love this place! The sushi is some of the best we've had! Especially their salmon! Always friendly and quickly delivered. Portion sizes are excellent with the boxes portion sizes big enough for 2 or 3 (or 1 depending how hungry you are!). We would highly recommend them!

I have been visiting this Kokoro for months and I have NEVER been disappointed with the quality of the food and the service. The food is fresh made on the day and they often make the sushi for my daughter and I when they don’t have ready. The employees are kind and friendly. I highly recommend!

Had a great time at sushi shop on Saturday. Gotta give a nod to the server, who made some spot-on recommendations, turning our meal into a delightful experience. The food, thanks to her killer suggestions, was next-level delicious. I ordered the spicy tuna hako, rock and roll and Each bite was a surprise, and I left with a happy belly and a new appreciation for the spot. Big shoutout to the kitchen team for making my night good.
