Sushi Shop in Richmond upon Thames

Had a great time at sushi shop on Saturday. Gotta give a nod to the server, who made some spot-on recommendations, turning our meal into a delightful experience. The food, thanks to her killer suggestions, was next-level delicious. I ordered the spicy tuna hako, rock and roll and Each bite was a surprise, and I left with a happy belly and a new appreciation for the spot. Big shoutout to the kitchen team for making my night good.

Prawn tempura was mushy and soggy. All rolls and seaweed salad seemed like it was made hours/days ago.

The best sushi I’ve had in Richmond. It’s fresh, soft, succulent and the flavours are so delicate. I am so glad I found this place.

Great place for sushi I think they need to work a bit more on general hygiene otherwise staff are friendly and very helpful

This place is normally very solid, if not overpriced, but I’m generally happy to pay if it means a good experience. Whoever was making sushi tonight, however, totally dropped the ball. The rock and roll special roll had the yucky uncooked skin of the salmon running through the roll, which was inedible as a result. The side of rice was the bottom of the rice cooker rice, which was dry and overcooked. Really unimpressed.

If you offer In service, it is important to provide customers with wet wipes or a hand washing station. Unfortunately, there was neither one nor the other in this establishment. Although I understand the need for guests to eat quickly and leave and not sit for hours, uncomfortable iron chairs did not allow them to relax and enjoy food even for a short time. This made me wonder why management seems indifferent to the comfort of its customers.

The waiter called Saleen was very helpful and kind and thoughtful always asking how was the food and in general the best sushi I have had in the UK so far

Incomplete order sent with no soy sauce as apparently they had run out. Still selling orders as it is apparently available if you come in the shop, which slightly defeats the purpose of a takeaway!

Placed an order that never arrived. No one is answering the phone. Incredibly poor service.

Only come here for sushi, i had that before and it was good, but nothing special for the price. But today i ordered the katsu curry, for a whopping 11.50 to take away. It was dry, there was no sauce, pretty much just seasoned veggies and it tasted like an indian curry, not japanese. If you're looking for a cheap katsu curry that tastes good and gives you tons for the price just go to Kokoro down the road.

Guys we love your rolls but can you be more attentive and actually put wasabi in the bag??!

If you are looking for those fashionably looking dishes displayed on the shop front, do yourself a favour and continue walking to the nearby Wagama. The dish we had ordered, looked nothing like in the photo on the menu. This microwaved meal in a paper tray, with soggy breadcrumbs makes one lose their appetite for the remainder of the day. For what they charge, you are better off in a normal restaurant.

Casual sushi shop. Interesting fusion combinations. The interior design of the takeaway shop was nice, made of wooden panels and dim light made it quite cozy. You can see throw the open window to the kitchen so you know they’d be making food freshly; mostly for takeaways. The shop was small though in the sense it was a bit strange the waitress’s belongings were kept in the table in their corner of the shop which was quite interesting. Because shop regardless.

The soy sauce provided is not sushi sauce, but rather the type you use in cooking. Sushi was average and overpriced. Black lady who took my order was very friendly, but not the chef/cook/staff who was sitting next to her at the till.

I’ve had this sushi before and the salmon quality was delicious but today when I got my normal order the salmon was a bit mushy and and softer than usual. It’s like the same quality from itsu when I was so sure before that sushi shop had the best quality of sushi

So it is okay sushi. They're not stingy with the fish in the nigiri which is good. The random rolls in a set that have rice paper? Why is it not mentioned in the set? It isn't terrible but very strange. Also I'm generally annoyed that I asked for extra wasabi and they gave me only 1 packet. ONLY 1 PACKET. Like okay I don't mind if you're stingy with the wasabi but if you are, just be transparent with your customers beforehand. I could've wasabi at the asian grocers if I knew you were that skimp. And be transparent with the rice paper wrapped sushi please 🤣 After double checking the menu, nothing mentions the sushi being wrapped in rice paper. Me not liking it is the least of their issues. Sushi is NOT supposed to be wrapped in rice paper and I would be fine if this was mentioned in their menu and they were transparent. But they weren't. So I assumed I would get some normal sushi

Not freshly made. Sushi had clearly been made and then refrigerated for a while. The rice was hard and the prawn in the tempura had gone soggy. Not great for an expensive takeout.

I tried the TooGoodToGo. The bag was big and they were very friendly. All round good experience :)

Very good value on Too Good To Go, but I wouldn't pay full price. The sushi rice is very weak (lacks seasoning, I guess the flavour was adjusted for the local neighbourhood demographics in Richmond if you get what I mean) and they're stingy with the fish:rice ratio. Decent seaweed salad. Good availability of white people rolls with cream cheese, also tuna avocado rolls made with cooked/canned tuna. No hate if you like that stuff but definitely don't go here if you're a purist.

This is the best sushi ive eaten in the uk, the rice was soft and flavourful and the fish and avocado were fresh and delicious, I got the salmon and Avocado rolls for £5.60 which is a bargain for authentic and great tasting shushi. The staff were really friendly and made a good recommendation for my first try (diddnt just try and sell the bighest box). I would go here over itsu or Yo any day

I'm writing a review here because I feel like Google isn't representing this sushi spot very well. This place has over 500 EXCELLENT reviews on Deliveroo, and now I see why! Just ordered sushi delivery, and it was outstanding! I've been living in Richmond for a few months now and really love sushi, but hadn't found my spot yet. Well, now I think I have. Buttery salmon, amazing flavors, super fresh, I really enjoyed it a lot.

Fantastic quality for the price. Delicious miso, excellent salmon box, great rolls. Ordered on Deliveroo and was with us in 15 minutes. Would 100% order again.

Horrible experience using TooGoodToGo. They charged £5.50 and delivered a bag with carrot and cabbage salad. I would have spent £0.5 in the supermarket for that bag! Rubbish!!!! Run away from that shop. On top of that, TooGoodToGo refused to refund me. I refused to take that bag home…… may I give zero stars?????

The best ramen so far. Short menu but straight to the point if you're craving for ramen. Buns and chicken snacks perfect for kids, a little hot 🔥 and delicious.

Sushi was worse than sushi I’ve had for almost half the price. Avocado was mushy, rice tasted stale. They told me I wasn’t allowed to order when there was still at least 15 mins till closing

Ok sushi, I've order from them half a dozen times. However last order came in mashed up, they offered me credit but said I had to ring the store because they can't add it to the website. Just rang them a few months later to claim my credit and they don't know anything about it, very annoying. So I got nothing for my mashed up sushi except time wasted trying to get the credit they promised and didn't deliver. Their website is also so buggy, misses recording orders, vouchers don't work. Ok sushi, let down by poor organisation/technology. Won't be back.

Dragon rolls was poor quality and not rolled well at all. Sashimi was ok, but quite finely cut. Fillings in the maki and inside out rolls were lacking in flavour. I am not expecting amazing sushi at this price, but I don't believe any better than Itsu, although this is more expensive.

Order food from uber eats whole meal missing driver was only handed one bag very disappointed poor service.

Whenever I crave fushion sushi is when I order sushi from this place. Ok the fushion sushi being the cream cheese salmon. So yum. Tried the others but less impressed. Overall good value for price sushi in the area.

I ordered today on Uber eats and it was great. I really wanted good quality sushi, the melt in your mouth kind. The sushi was exactly that!. My little sister especially loved it. Thanks for your hard work :).

Unfortunately a very bad experience and a spoilt Friday night dinner. I thought I’d bought an upmarket sushi box, instead when I went home I discovered that the sushi rolls fall apart when dipped in soy sauce. Moreover, it is totally unacceptable to use cream cheese as a filling in several rolls. Not to mention the weird soggy corn chips and undefinable black garnish on the sushi rolls....The quality of the rice, the stickiness of it and the sushi are totally not in line with this expensive sushi place. Cannot recommend it !

Tastes very nice but doesn't exactly taste freshly made as it claims on the box. Packaging looks well presented as well. First time trying and its a nice lunch time dish.

Tried to be as fair as possible but picture speaks for itself really... I'm rating it based on the £15 sushi box we just bought. It's possibly one of the worst sushi we've ever tried. Freshness of ingredient is key when it comes to sushi & reliability. You can be lucky here (sometimes sushi is 7/10) but can be equally very unlucky depending on the day (sometimes 2/10). Gone off ingredients unacceptable in sushi at any time. Such a shame considering the price point you'd expect better than "basic", but sadly this even misses the mark of basic. Hanana sushi next to richmond station is far better, fresher, well made, tastier, and larger portions.

I ordered a sushi dinner for delivery and for the very first time had a regrettable experience with the service and the food. The delivery was chaotic but the worst part was opening the bag to find a the food destroyed...It took the joy out of the meal. Ordered Rock N Roll and Poke Bowls and they were all Rock N Rolling not in a good way - tasted discussing. They generally good but I think that's me off sushi for while.

I've eaten inside a couple of times, but with a pandemic raging, my best mate and I now get the sushi to go, and eat it overlooking the river. It's considerably more expensive than Ishu, but of considerably higher quality. At lunchtime, you get a side dish free. I grated carrot salad with pineapple (I think) juice is quite wonderful.

Premium sushi outlet with prices to match. Had a good experience on first visit but second time, the food was of dubious freshness. Maybe unlucky but I wouldn’t rush back.

For the second consecutive time the fish contains bones. Last time the salmon sashimi which we put down to a one off, this time the tuna rolls.

Yesterday I phoned in an order, the person on the phone had a very difficult accent to understand. She kept saying she couldn't find my postcode and address. I had to repeat it at least 5 times. When the order didn't arrive in the evening at the specified time, I phoned and spoke to a different person who said my order had gone to a wrong address and my phone number was incorrect so they couldn't call me! She said they would make a fresh order. When the order arrived 15 mins later the rice in the all the rolls was thick, gluey lumps of stodge. The expensive dragon roll was smashed as though the box had been dropped or squashed. I won't be ordering again!

I love their shushi, it's very very tasty but why do you have to be so expensive :( If I was rich I would be eating sushi feom this shop every day

Very elegant and sophisticated sushi shop. So far probably one of the best for this prices. Not too cheap but completely affordable. Anyhow, it's not overpriced. Represents good quality, cleanliness and mouthwatering taste. It's recommended.

I’m allergic to avocado and they refuse to swap it out of their supposed freshly made sushi. There is better service at supermarket sushi spots. At sushi shop the customer with allergies comes second to their sense of self importance. Shame.

We had a big take away mea 2 days before Christmas. It's all quite standard sushi but was good quality - maybe not high end Japanese sashimi but also not their prices. Good selection and the catalogue is very comprehensive,.

The sushi and sashimi we had was very fresh and delicious. It was delivered with lots of ginger, soya sauce

Wonderful little place. Enjoyed a refreshing take on sushi and as good as some of the stuff I had in Japan. The rice had been seasoned well with good quality salmon and tuna. Nice bite to it and bursting with flavour. Will definitely be visiting again.

Ordered sushi take out - think it was the Gourmet box. It was fresh, tasty, innovative .. we could not have wished for more. I just read the last review and could not have had a more different experience. Will be back for more.

Me and my husband ordered sushi in the evening sushi via deliveroo. 1) Sushi are NOT FRESH!!! Beware, if you order in the evening they will just put in the box what’s left on the shelves from the morning! 2) We called the shop and asked them NOT to put fish sushi with other sushi in the same box because of my husband’s SEVERE ALLERGY. This has not been done!!! As a result my husband was not able to eat his order!!! 3) They just forgot to put wasabi! We called the shop but they were NOT ABLE to do anything about it!!!! What a WASTE of MONEY!!! DEFINITELY WOULD NOT recomend this place!!!!

Got the Lunch Box 4 for takeaway. The store has a very posh ambience, and staff are extremely friendly. It's not a very large place; able to seat 10 max, hence I'm led to believe this is more a grab 'n go kind of place, where you pick your sushi boxes from the shelves on the side, pay and enjoy elsewhere. The sushi was just average at best. Those in my box were mostly made up of 2 ingredients: salmon and avocado. While the salmon was fresh, the way the sushi rice was prepared left much to be desired: it was too hard and dry. The greens (edamame and cabbage salad) were pretty average too. It seems that a bit too much has been spent on external elements such as the decor of the place and design of the box, while the focus should really be the product itself. The price of the food here is no joke as well, and you can easily find more authentic sushi for lesser. A quick look at the online menu gives the impression that this eatery is trying to combine elements of Western cuisine with sushi. While an interesting concept which may appeal to some, I'd advice you not to come here if you're just looking for some proper Japanese sushi.

received our order tonight and i was quite pleased with packaging and food. But quickly realised that we do pay a lot for all that fancy packaging, logos, black tissues (instead pf cheap white ones). And yes we do pay for better quality of sushi too. This is one of very little takeaway places which really do good sushi. Rolls with cheese though were havig veeeery thin layers of salmon. But overall other rolls were good. Loved the presentation, liked what we ate, but costs hell of a lot of money. Even with 20% off on first order (that to had to be £30 or more...) solid 4 stars.

Between the salmon box and the set of rolls we bought, we couldn't tell which we liked less. The rice in both sets tasted like it had been in the fridge for days, and the salmon had a concerning aftertaste. The avocado had a similarly concerning taste, and the addition of chili was not welcome. I have never given up on sushi before but unfortunately despite all my excitement, this has been the biggest let down.

Tried it a couple of times and was not blown away. Pretty good sushi but expensive for what you get in my opinion. I much prefer Hanana and Maki in town and even Yo Sushi

Really disappointed. We wanted to treat ourselves this evening and thoroughly disappointed with our first experience at The Sushi shop. Everything tasted the same and not sure how fresh the rice was. Big shame

A couple of friends of mine and I decided to make an order over the phone. The process was tiresome re paying by card and when one of the parties asked how much it would be she was told: £21,000. In addition 20 mins delivery time turned into 40mins. Re quality of rolls we ordered the Gourmet Mix and the crusty tuna roll was not appetising at all. It tasted of canned tuna!!! This not what expected of such a well marketed sushi restaurant.

Stopped in for a quick bite to eat. Reasonably priced and the sushi I had was very nice. Well done will be back.

We’ve eaten a lot of sushi in London. This is the best we’ve had so far. So fresh. So delicious and some new and interesting flavours. Definitely try it!

Very pleased with their sushi. Ordered for the first time last night after downloading their app, which needs to be improved asap. Why is there French language on an app which is for UK use so should only be in English. Apart from the poor quality app, I ordered sushi which was promptly delivered. Tasty, creative sushi and reasonably priced also, in my opinion. I can highly recommend the Sushi Shop in Richmond and will be ordering regularly from there.

Take away only. Very clean and the food is very fresh. The salmon tartare rice bowl is really good.

We decided to order a take away delivered to our house. We have desperately been looking for a good sushi place nearby. My husband is Japanese and grew up in Hong Kong so he is a tough critic to please. We ordered online. Very easy and came within 45 mins. Presentation was excellent. Although the rolls were quite small in size, need fattening up. We had the gourmet mix, rock n roll and fire roll signature rolls as well as tuna shashimi. All had potential to be great but sadly they were not freshly made to order and tasted like they had been sat around for quite some time. For example the prawn tempura was soft and soggy and the seaweed in the rolls was chewy. The food has the potential to be amazing however the taste was distinctly average. The sashimi was the best part which demonstrates the quality of the ingredients and how this sushi could be good if made to order/fresh.

I'm a big fan of the Marinated Chirashi, but paying £16.5 for a bowl of rice with raw fish on top, that's just insane. There's a place called "Maki and Bowl" right across the street that gives you the same thing for half the price.

Very clean, fresh Salmon Sushi! Finally I found a restaurant I can trust at a reasonable price. They also have some special sushi rolls that cannot find in other sushi restaurant! They also deliver and have an App that you can use to quickly make your selections (available on the Google App Store).

Just opened in Richmond. Slightly more expensive than Itsu, but more choices. Also you can order from menu as well. Lunch box comes with miso soup and salad pack, which is nice touch. And taste better than other chain sushi/bento places. There's loyality scheme for discounts and freebees.
