Wow. We had such a nice reception, the hostess was so friendly, so happy, and made us feel so welcomed. Not a thing was too much trouble. The smells in the restaurant were just mouth-watering, the anticipation of food was intense, and we hadn't even ordered yet! When ordering I quired about olives in a dish ( because I'm fussy!) And the hostess actually bought me out a small sample to see if it was OK for me. When the dish came out it was absolutely exquisite 👌. Clearly a chef who knows what he is doing, the sharp pickles, and the richness of the goats cheese was just perfect. I thoroughly enjoyed it, a really well put together starter. Our mains were equally as well cooked, and a fantastic mix of flavours and textures. The additional veg was really yummy! All in all we had a superb evening, the food was spot on and the owners clearly love their jobs! We can't wait to come back.... my dodgy photos dont do the meals justice!

Fantastic experience. We took the father in law and family for dinner. The food was outstanding, the service was just as good, dietary and allergy requirements were catered for without any issues whatsoever and the atmosphere was relaxed. A really great evening, thank you

In mid July (15th) four of us visiting from the US had four superb dinners at Tabbs! Unfamiliar with hake, I dared to order - and am so glad I did because of the excellent preparation. I will probably not order it elsewhere for fear of dimming the wonderful memory of your chef's magic. From beginning to end our meals were perfection, beautifully served, professionally presented and delicious on the tongue. What a treasure we found by blind luck! We wish we lived in Turo so we could be regular patrons; your locals are most fortunate. Thank you so much for a delightful experience!

The food was good but not 'special night out' good. Looking at some of the previous reviews, the menu we had didn't seem as exciting as others. The duck terrine was very nicely presented but not much taste of duck. The fish (hake and ray) was excellent but rather overwhelmed by the smoked paprika oil on the potatoes. As an aside, the background music was tormented rather than comforting, but they did kindly turn it down.

Simply the best restaurant in Truro

We always book a table at Tabbs (if we can, because it's so popular) when visiting Truro, Cornwall. There's always something for your individual taste buds, plus a varied wine list. If you're a couple wanting to treat yourselves and have an extra special, another level, meal experience. I can't recommend Nigel & Debbie @ Tabbs enough! 😋

Cool offhand welcome but improved, rather gloomy but excellent food

First time going for mine an my partners anniversary meal. WOW. Absolutely amazing for our first fine dining experience. Mushroom soup was amazing, scallops were so tender like butter! I had the venison and it just melted in my mouth, amazing flavours and perfectly seasoned. My partner had the leg of duck, just fell off the bone. We shared the sticky toffee pudding and the chocolate marquise, they where amazing. Honestly the best meal either of us have ever eaten. Such good quality, flavour and price! Thankyou nigel and deb for our free anniversary chocolates too. We will definitely come again!

Visited this restaurant a couple of days ago. Chicken Confit to start, actually there was an amuse bouche of mushroom soup first, both were absolutely delicious. Smoked Beef fillet to follow. Again it was very tasty, the deep fried cauliflower was a revelation. However both plates were a bit brown. It would have been nice to have some other colours on the plate which might have felt a bit healthier as well. But really tasty. A great wine list as well. I heartily recommend this restaurant.

We tried various dishes. The scallop and chicken confit starter was interesting and tasty. The duck breast was cooked pink, very juicy and tender. The staff was friendly and we had a nice chat with her. Food wise, the mushroom soup for me was a nice surprise and I would like to learn how to make it.

The chef was really rude with me, and he throw me my food, I would like to go back there again, but it seems to be a no great restaurant in particular.

Had a lovely evening in an intimate setting with 4 other guests in the restaurant. Service was good and dishes /drinks arrived in good time. The food itself was nice, however, not five star standard for me. Had the fillet steak main which wasn't an outstanding steak despite the portion being small, in addition to this it stated that it would come rare but this was certainly medium at least. Starter and desert were nice enough, again nothing too exciting for the standard you can get at the same price. All in all a pleasant experience but slightly short of the five star standard.

Best Restaurant in Truro! Great service, beautifully cooked food, especially the pigeon and duck. Also has a great selection of wines.

Visiting my father in Truro, I always half dreaded the "meal out". We've tried many addresses in the city and always been disappointed by lacklustre food and depressingly amateur service. So Tabbs was a fantastic break with form! We enjoyed a return visit to Tabbs after a few years away. We had a very enjoyable evening and the food was as always of a high standard

Nice athmosphere. Limited menu options. Small portions. No child menu. Very quiet (not busy) desserts a bit disappointing. Overall not much to write home about. good and speedy service.

Reading through some previous comments of negativity relating to staff being miserable and unable to accommodate food requests is extremely shocking as we have never experienced any of this at Tabb's. The service has always been top notch with a very friendly approach and atmosphere. I always take my visitors to Tabb's as I know the chef will support their vegetarian requirements and prepare dishes which they love ! Tabb's is a truly wonderful dining experience in comparison to most other places in Truro. A delight for most !

From the outside it looks deceptive, with little hint kf the foodie delight inside. Beautiful food, cooked perfectly, and great personal service. A Truro gem.

Appaling customer service and lack of information. Set menus with nothing palatable for vegetarians, and apparently 36 hours notice isn't enough notice to have anything added. Very disappointed.

Excellent food. A subtle understanding of spice and imaginative side vegetables. Staff very informed and even helped identify the background music. Good, well priced wine list. Loved the place.

Superb. It's what you might call "high end",so for us, a bit of a treat. The food was absolutely outstanding, as was the service. We hoped for a good experience based on a couple of previous visits, and so it proved. Also, given the overall quality, Tabbs is not stupidly expensive. Far from it. Also, once a month, a set menu Sunday lunch is available, and I would highly recommend. We will certainly be doing that again. Probably Truro's finest.

Exactly what I expected from a top class restaurant. Friendly staff, beautifully prepared courses, good choice of meals, excellent wine. Of course quality comes at an appropriate price, so don't expect much change from £80 for a three course meal for two and a couple of drinks. Highly recommended for any special occasion.

We used to dine at Tabbs when it was in Portreath. After 15 years we revisited when in Truro. Just as wonderful as we remembered. Great meal and a warm welcome. Hope to be back again despite the 300 mile trip! Thank you.

Surprisingly spacious inside with chic dark interior. Great food. I've attached a picture of a beef strogonoff which also came with sides of vegetables. Well worth it's 2 Rosettes.

Probably the best restaurant in Truro. The service is friendly and professional . The wine list is perfect and the duck confit is divine. Highly recommended.

just read the negative review ,I must be going to a different restaurant.My wife and I go five or six times a year.Have meet some interesting people of all ages,had food I would put on par with number 6 in Padstow, am a fan of both..Everybody has a poor meal sooner or later in a restaurant.Maybe third time lucky.

The very best fine dining in Truro City. We went there to have a romantic chat, but ended up silently purring with gastronomic contentment as we sampled the manageable portions of smoked beef and slow-roast pork belly. The dessert was a work of art Go for heavenly flavours and attentive table service.
