Had a very pleasant full Monty, and a nice hot drink . Premises was clean, staff polite. Went with a group of friends who were likewise impressed with the food. No complaints. Toilets clean.

My wife has gone here recently quite a bit and has taken me today. I can see why she goes there! The service is very friendly and efficient and this is matched by pricing which represents very good value for money. There is a wide range of food from specials to sandwiches and cakes, as well as Sunday lunch. We had coffee and cake and these were sumptuous. It is family run and well worth a visit and has seasonal produce and activities, such as the pumpkin patch today. as we moved towards Christmas, they do sell Christmas trees and in the summer there is strawberry and raspberry picking.

Not impressed with lack of service. Arrived for afternoon tea and cake. Stood around for a while whilst the staff 4 of them were having a chat. Eventually was asked if we had booked, I said no. Then was told to sit in the cafe part which we did. Waited for ages for service, then when I approached the counter was told that we were next on the list, I returned to seat. Two other couples arrived who appeared to know the staff, and we're given preferential service. We then decided to leave and went to Belton Woods where we got great service. Syston - either wake the staff up or you will lose more customers.

Nice place, clean and plenty of selection… but please get some coffee training. All the coffees are the same; over heated milk resembling nothing like what they should. I ordered a flat white and got a boiling hot cup of froth which obviously isn’t what a flat white is. If you can’t make it or train the staff don’t put it in the menu and charge the same as a high end coffee shop.

Our friends had very tasty smoked haddock and really enjoyed it. We are vegan and we had homemade vegan food. It was really lovely. Then chef made us rhubarb and apple with custard. It was delicious! Our friends said the treacle pudding and the victoria sponge were very good. The service was excellent. A really polite, warm and friendly waiter looked after us - nothing was a problem. But to be fair all the staff were friendly. We highly recommend this for lunch. And we certainly will return. Lovely afternoon. Thank you.

This is a lovely little café and shop, they sell great products and serve very good coffee, but do not bother with the Sunday roasts, in our experience they are very poor quality. I love my veg to be crunchy and lightly cooked, but the veg here was barely heated through and very tough, the meat was cold and bland, and the Yorkshire puds were so tough, they were almost impossible to cut, and the potatoes were dry and tough. The gravy was lovely, but had a hard job making the plate of food edible. Next time, I'd definitely stick to sandwiches or panini.

We visit the restaurant quite often and recommend to friends. This is just some feedback that hopefully will help. Today we arrived at 2.30 for a late lunch. We noticed on the menu that lunchtime food was served from 11.30 -3. We sat and waited for 10minutes and then I approached the till area to give my order as I was worried about the cut off time. The lady said she would come to our table which she did and we had a lovely lunch - full marks! While we were sitting having our lunch another couple came in between 2.50/2.55. They looked at the menus and waited. A young lad came to take their order at 3.05 and they were told they were too late to order food. They said they had being ready before 3 but no one had come to take their order. They were still advised they couldn’t have lunch. They didn’t make a scene they just left. The restaurant was not busy. My job was Customer Services Director for a major company so I am always interested in how challenges are handled. I checked your web site and have pasted some of the info that your customer are seeing - “Our busy café is open six days a week (Café closed Mondays) from 10am to 4pm serving breakfasts and lunches” . Maybe this is where the confusion starts. While we enjoyed our coffee I hear another couple of people with the same issue. Also when you are shown a seat close to cut off it would be good if you advised customers to get their orders in ASAP to avoid disappointment. I hope this helps as you guys have done a great job through the pandemic and we enjoy coming here.

We arrives as a group of 4 cyclists yesterday 10/04/22, as it was unusually sunny we decided to sit outside. Went into the reception/till area and had a nice warm greeting from the staff on watch. After a quick perusal of the menu I decided on B on T with the egg on top + tea. As we resumed our outdoor seating we were pleasantly surprised how quick our drinks appeared very shortly followed by the food orders. We as a group of cyclists have not been here for some time, however, with the wind in the right direction we will be back. All staff were polite and helpful and doing their best to cope with all demands in this current climate. Thank you Syston Park Farm.

So yet again, another awful breakfast and nothing on my plate was from this farm. Where do I begin.... 1 - The sausages were burnt and dry. Probably way too much breadcrumbs (or rusk) or perhaps they had been in the oven for too long. Either way, they were awful 2 - Fried egg was very greasy and I got a mouthful of eggshell ! 3 - Bacon was tough - probably in oven too long 4 - Mushrooms were fresh (out of a tin) 5 - My Sautéed potatoes were burnt on one side and still hard 6 - The cutlery was mis matched. very small fork and large knife. One could perhaps forgive this unpleasant breakfast if this place was busy but.... I was the only one there, just as they opened this morning. There can be no excuse for this awful food, presentation and lack of care and attention. So I suggest if you like the setting (which is the only positive thing) and can put up with awful food, then do pay them a visit. But it's a no from me.

Read all the 5 star reviews about food and farm shop.Oh dear!. Drove 50 miles for an extreme disappointmentArrived 12.45 and half of menu already SOLD OUT !Door open and restaurant freezing cold.Obviously a lot of money has been spent on the building and the wood structure is impressive but- It remains a cold , empty barn with no character and no atmosphere. What choice left (satay chicken) was excellent but NO ALCOHOL !! Only overpriced watery fruit concoctions. As for 'farm shop'. Very poor selection. Veg overpriced. All meats prepacked in plastic and very little choice. A real disappointment since we were looking forward to locally sourced/estate fresh meat etc., Cheese all prepacked and poor selection.People running this are very amateur and should take a trip to the wonderful Donnington Hall shop and restaurant near Lincoln if they want to be a real grown up 'farm shop'!Wonderful views across the landscape as you leave . Pity the experience does nothing to match this.A real let down

Visited on a cold late September afternoon during a walk with a dog. However, despite only TWO tables taken inside, and NOBODY sat outside we weren’t able to stop and have a drink and piece of cake with our well-behaved dog (on her lead) outside because “we don’t usually let dogs here because it’s a fruit farm”! It’s worth pointing out at this point that the fruits appeared to had stopped growing by now (probably because it’s almost October) and they were well away from the outside seating area, so this was the loss of the farm shop and the gain of the pub down the road who welcomed us for a drink. I’d probably avoid here with such strange strange rules!

Drinks were ordered as we studied the menu which consisted of a range of sandwiches, salads etc. However, the daily specials board listed all the hot food with not a pie and chips on the list! The menu comprised some six choices all of which looked inviting. The drinks and meals arrived quite quickly a Lasagne and a Goulash with trimmings. Both meals were hot ,inviting and very tasty. We could not fault them .It would seem to be a popular venue with good car parking and pick your own fruit in season.Recommended ...........................................................ised about six choices

Our family has been visiting this shop and cafe cabin up on the hill for some years but twice recently we've had lunches there (for 7 and for 5 people). There is plenty of parking and an outside eating areas which would be really good in summer, as it is set well away from the main road. The shop itself is unexceptional with the familiar mix for such places of fresh vegetables, preserves, cheeses and special biscuits etc - there is also a pretty good variety of cakes. The standard menu is very straightforward and there are no alcoholic options in the drinks though, in addition to the usual teas and coffees, they offer many of the Belvoir presses soft drinks. Unless one wants a standard breakfast or light lunch, the best choices are on the specials board which has recently offered a classic "Sunday roast", smoked haddock with hollandaise, chicken & mushroom pie, chicken kebab and a Welsh Rarebit. The fresh asparagus harvest was reflected in the soup and the addition of spears to the haddock and to the rarebit - but making use of seasonal gluts is to be applauded. The cafe is light and airy but somewhat lacking in atmosphere. Access to the toilets is good and can accommodate people in wheelchairs. We have always found the service to be friendly and speedy. Prices are not steep - with main courses around £10.

Visited here as a group of 12 cyclists, to get some food and drink, on a very hot day. Where do I begin, as to how poor this was? Ah yes, the service! We sat outside and then went inside to order food and drink - after 40 miles on a hot day - we needed it. So, despite the cafe being half empty on the inside and we had managed to find a table outside, we were told they are not serving hot food to us - because there was too many! some in our party, while not happy about this - instead ordered drinks - to which they said there would be a delay and because we were not eating we could not use the table outside. I mean WTF! They suggested they could not provide the food. Then, for those cyclists that had bought cold drinks - there was a £5 limit on card use. Which would have been fine, if we had had food? So, a number of cyclists could not even get a drink. Between this place and Belton House - I WOULD SUGGEST THESE BUSINESSES DO NOT WANT CYCLISTS SPENDING THEIR MONEY HERE. A simply horrible attitude of a establishment - do not waste your money here!

The young waitress comes over, again quite rude to take our order. 1 scone and latte, 1 cream tea and 2 childrens cookies. Latte and cookies came out within 10 minutes of ordering..... 30 minutes later our scones come out to be delivered to the wrong table! Had to ask for the tea again. Once we had finished we sat expecting as it was table service someone would ask us if we would like the bill. Turns out I then had to go and que again at the till, this time the line was to the entrance of the shop! Ridiculous system for payment, table service should mean just that! The husband and I were starvin, a bit hungover and in desperate need of a lovely fried breakfast. I'd heard good things about Syston, didn't mind paying a little extra for good fresh ingredients. We were a bit sad that there was no vegetarian breakfast on the menu so settled on egg on toast, I thought I'd just ask if they did do a veggie breakfast before we ordered and the waitress said they did. Joy! Except there was no joy when it came. 2 fried eggs, beans, a tomato and 3 rock solid mushrooms... all for the tidy sum of £7 (the same as the meat breakfast!) The eggs were runny despite asking for solid yolks and the toast we had ordered was so pasty it was more like stale bread. My baby daughter's toasted tea cake didn't fair any better at being toasted and everything was cold. I'd like to say the drinks were good but the cups are so tiny it was like we were children playing tea parties. Not an enjoyable experience but I can see why the veggie breakfast isn't on the menu!

I visited for a Christmas lunch with a group. I started with crab cakes. The first one had small crunchy bits in it and after a couple of mouthfuls I was horrified to find a long black hair appearing from under the food. They brought me a second plateful and I found myself biting down on a hard lump, presumably crab shell. I was unable to eat any more. The manageress blamed her supplier and said this is a risk you take when ordering crab cakes. The second course was supposed to be a mushroom filo parcel. It was a rather dry pie that had burst on one side and was served with a very dull salad, a bit of coleslaw and some plain boiled potatoes. The price for these two courses plus coffee was supposed to be £18, but I paid £9.50 as they didn't charge for the starter. I think that is still too much for a very second rate plateful. They do not serve wine and the surroundings are very ordinary. I shall not be going again.

I have visited other places in the immediate area but this is definitely my favourite. The food is home cooked, locally sourced and full of flavour. The prices are reasonable and the staff are friendly. The Sunday lunch is proper roasted meat, and served with a good selection of vegetables, roast potatoes and parsnips. I had the leek and potato soup which was served with crusty warm brown bread. Sadly we only had room to share a yummy ginger cheesecake served with clotted cream. Can't wait to to return

Have visited here a few times over last few months and have been really impressed every time. This is an oasis of calm and really pleasant environment in an area that can be a bit lacking on such places. My only hesitation is that in recommending it will get even more popular.

I called with my Mum and sister about midday today for a bit of lunch. After standing waiting for about 5 or 10 minutes to be seated in an area that only had 3 tables occupied and staff that seemed oblivious to our presence we were shouted at from behind the counter to take the table against the window. The table had been cleared, but not cleaned, my sister went and ask a member of staff if they would come and clean the table, which was done with a dirty dish cloth, instead of using anti bacterial spray and a paper towel. This was enough to put us off and so we left.

We visited the farm shop on a Sunday afternoon looking for something to eat and were not disappointed! We both had the smoked salmon and prawn salad which was huge and delicious! We then saw signs for pick your own raspberries and currants and decided to go down to the fields. Although it was late in the day there were still plenty of raspberries to pick and we had a great time.

We've driven past the pick your own signs since we moved to Grantham 3 months ago and today we finally found time to pop in. After a quick look around the farm shop we sat down to have a late lunch/ afternoon tea. The cakes looked delicious. We asked if it was table or counter service. Sadly it wasn't to be. After a 20+ minute wait and several tables of customers who arrived after us getting served before us we left, a full purse and an empty tummy! A limited menu, service too slow and and a lack of local produce in the shop has crossed this one off our list.

We went with relatives who live in the area and we had a lovely lunch. The salads were tasty and of a generous portion! Great produce! Devonshire scones with clotted cream and jam also lovely. Strawberry milkshake a little disappointing though - too small! Service good.

This is an attractive cafe in an attractive setting. Most of the tables enjoy a pleasant outlook out to the berry farm or other areas of greenery, and the windows are large, allowing lots of light in. We found the service to be pleasant and our meals came out quickly. The soup and sandwich option represented good value. I particularly enjoyed the broccoli and Stilton soup. There are magazines to browse, mainly of the food or house and garden type. And after your meal you may choose to wander out and pick your own berries (if it is summer time) or to select a delicacy from the adjacent shop.

I'd like to thank the team here for wonderful lunch and coffees. But most of all for the lovely support towards breastfeeding families- if you have small children or babies this is a wonderful place to come- plenty of buggy room, play area outside, lovely changing facilities and a warm and welcoming team ( pyo strawberries for those old enough!). Highly recommend! X

Visited for lunch and two of our party enjoyed the roast veg with Brie which was unusual and delicious. Our friend had the spare ribs which were tough and left much of her meal. She did mention this to the waitress who seemed shocked and said she would tell the cook. No apology or offer of any alternative. A shame.

Just returned from Grantham and having eaten at the Farm Shop 5 times in 7 days felt it needed another review. Top tip - always book! It is pretty busy most days so we always book now. The food is still fantastic! We have been going there for 12 years and can never fault the food. I had roast lamb on a Sunday which came with 7 vegetables and it was really great. My husband had cod which he said was very good. On one day I had profiteroles and they were the best I can remember. The food is mainly homemade and their cakes are heavenly. Yes it does get busy but it is worth it for a lovely meal. If it wasn't good it wouldn't even busy! I did review them a year ago and believe they have improved, if that is possible.

I quite often pop in here for meals. Their food is excellent every time I go. I have never needed to book although once it was too busy so we went to Belton Garden Centre instead, which then made me think about booking in future. They were busy with a large party of people on Sunday. Unfortunately they were not paying so much attention to their normal sized tables and I did get forgotten, but once I had been served the service was as good as usual.

We called in to Syston Park Farm for morning coffee as our favourite coffee shop at Barrowby was unfortunately closed. We expected to have a similar experience here. The coffee was lovely, and we also had toasted teacakes which were good. The two girls who served us were very pleasant. The whole visit was ruined, however, by the noise emanating from the kitchen! It really sounded like a children's party was going on - constant shouting, banging and crashing. We have since read on Trip Advisor that a few other customers have made comments regarding the attitude of the staff here. We cannot fault the service of the table staff, but certainly the behind-the-scenes staff need to realise the customers can hear them and the overall experience can be spoilt by this, which is a shame as the location is good, as are the items for sale in the shop.

I have moved from this area but recently returned to visit with a friend. We decided to have lunch and it was definitely the right decision. I had Welsh rarebit stuffed mushrooms with side salad and toast. My friend had Stilton and pear salad. Both dishes were excellent. Service was good, surroundings pleasant and prices reasonable. I have previously visited to pick your own soft fruits. Have also purchased real Christmas trees. Everything here is good quality. Not the cheapest but as they say you pay for what you get and it is definitely worth the money here.I would certainly my return for another lunch when in the area.

My husband and I called in to Syston Park Farm Cafe today (Christmas Eve). The atmosphere was calm and relaxing and the service was really good. There was a steady turnover of customers. The menu was excellent with a good variety .of hot food. We chose roast lamb. The portions were generous, the food was beautifully cooked with carrots, roast parsnips, brussel sprouts, peas, new potatoes, roast potatoes, a decent size jug of gravy and a dish of mint sauce. The meat was full of flavour. We ordered a pot of tea which arrived with two individual strainers, so tea was made with proper tea leaves. When we finished eating we were offered a fresh pot of hot water to top up our tea and asked if we would like some more milk. There was a lovely arrangement of leaves , cinnamon stick, slices of dried orange etc on the table which added a festive touch. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and friendly. The bill came to something like £22.00 in total which we thought was very good value for a lovely meal..We will go back to this lovely cafe/restaurant in future and will remember to book as earlier reviews suggest that this may be a good idea.

My Husband and I regularly visit this well established cafe and farm shop. Staff are always friendly and helpful, even when it is really busy and they are rushed off their feet. Always a varied choice on the specials board along with the daily menu of sandwiches, Jacket potatoes, all day breakfasts etc. There is always a lovely atmosphere. The farm shop stocks some wonderful jams, pickles and sauces and the pates - especially stilton and Guinness - are lovely. We have recommended this cafe and farmshop to many of our friends and if they have visited, they have thanked us for the recommendation. So keep up the good work everyone, it's always a pleasure.

The staff are always very friendly and approachable and have good knowledge of the menu.

We been here on several occasions but not for some time. The menu choice was adequate. I had the frittata and salad which was quite pleasant. However, my husband ordered fish and chips. It arrived as a greasy mess- personally I wouldn't have eaten it but he diid and regretted it. The cheese selection was half what it used to be. Overall impression was that competition from the local pub and garden centre was having an impact. We have not been inspired to return again soon. What a shame!

Group,of 6 called for lunch and in spite of lots of empty seats and several empty tables , allegedly reserved, they were too busy to serve us inside. Far to windy outside, no attempts to create a bit of shelter in spite of tables being in quite an exposed position. But the real issue was the attitude, can't believe how unhelpful the female staff member who dealt with us was and hard to believe this is a business wanting to make a go of it. We went elsewhere to eat, as did another family who had arrived at the same time. We did go back later to pick some fruit, and that was a lovely and very pleasant experience, but when it came to pay there was quite a queue, just one till and one staff member, but there was another member of staff cleaning table in the cafe which was closed. Any business worth their salt would have all available staff focussed on serving customers and leave the cleaning up until later.

Busy Sunday lunchtime, but we were seated within minutes by friendly cheerful staff. A nice range of food on the menu and all 4 of us ordered different dishes and we're all happy with our lunch. Great cakes too. The downsides were toilets which could be cleaner and separate sex toilets would help this. Also having to join the end of the shop queue to pay the bill meant a 10 minute wait. Would go back again.

Visited today for the first time with husband and 3 children. On arrival it was naturally busy and there were no tables for 5. However we were told one would be free shortly and we were asked to wait. 25 minutes later we were still waiting despite 4 tables to accommodate us having become free and no incentive for staff to sit us down. During our wait we were told to 'move out of the way' whilst waiting for our table. How rude indeed! In addition we were also told the table was just being cleared when it wasn't , nor any of the others that had become free. After 25 minutes we just left as we were so disgusted with our first impression. We went to belton garden centre cafe instead which was fantastic. In summary, Very disappointing visit to syston farm shop cafe given we have thought about visiting for quite some time. We will not be visiting again as first impressions are very important. We will not recommend at all. Staff need to think about how their attitude affects new customers.

Stayed here when visiting friends. As you will see from the photographs, it is very poorly kept. There was a very large spider when we arrived and the person who booked us in was less than friendly. Food was okay although no breakfast was provided. Would not recommend this place at all. Heating also went on the blink so we were brought an electric heater until they could fix the boiler. The food and the hospitality were great, the steak was to die for and I would have given it 5 stars, however having been shopping at Tesco and found out the bottle of wine we had was on sale at £8.50, to have been charged £38.00! was just too much over the top. It’s a shame as it has soured the experience.
