The food here is second to non. The Bakewell tarts and especially the mince pies are a thing to behold. Maybe the best mince pies I've had!

Such a fantastic bakery. All food prepared fresh on site and it clearly shows in the delicious food bought. Highly recommend.

The best in bakery products in syston, I don't buy much but I buy their crusty cobs, soft ones too on regular base since i moved to Syston in 1996, good priced, good sized quality, good friendly staff.....just loved crusty cobs for morning breakfast.....

Highly recommend crusty cobs are crusty.

I had a cream doughnut and it tasted like onions not sure what has happened, I haven’t been for a long time so presuming it’s a change of hands. It used to be delicious will swerve it now as no one wants onion doughnuts! Not safe if someone has an allergy to onions as there is some form of cross contamination. I had left the premises when I realised or I’d have returned it. I however won’t return still repeating on me five hours later.

Unfortunately this bakery is not what it used to be. The cobs disintegrate, the cakes are poorly baked, dry and no flavour. Poor drinks selection. Was the best bakery in Leicestershire up until recently. So sad to see.

The crusty cobs alone are nice but just don’t eat any of the cooked fillings. My husband had a sausage and mushroom sandwich today, and it was vile… hard, cold and tasteless. Husband rang his brother and mentioned it and turned out BIL and his wife had the same experience the week before except their sausages were burnt the whole way through, to the point it was inedible. My FIL used to visit weekly from Scraptoft and has now stopped, we live in Syston but sad to say we will be following suit.

It’s nice to see an independent bakery rather than a chain, cakes and sweet treats were reasonably priced, enjoyed by the family, and the service was very friendly and welcoming. Sausage rolls are filling as well, had a nice flavour.

So sad was once the best cob shop for miles around and you had to cue it was that good..but last time I went in the place looked dirty the basic hygiene was below par ..I mean handling money off clearly un hygienic people to then go straight to next person to make a cob without washing your hands a massive put off I must say making a ham cob to them make a vegetarian cob without washing your hands a turn off too , scratcin your ear to then make a cob a no no without washing your hands I mean wear gloves girl's!..all the staff were great once apon a time but at some point something went serious wrong and the care has gone out the window..the fridges don't work properly the cakes are sometimes yesterday stock the hot food microwave the place looks grubby the list gose on and on and on...I herd the staff took over from old owner who owned the bakery round corner too and that place is worse ! Sad as he built a good business 20 yr plus had good rep for yrs but now that's gone and people only rember the one bad experience no wounder he walked away but even with new owners still no change do your self's a favour shut doors lose the key before you run up debt on a business in the trenches..wish you all best but by Christ you got some work to turn that around..good luck

8.30am on a Saturday and you have no crusty cobs again, literally the main idea of a bakery. Just make it less painful and close the business it has gone to ruin.

It’s been a while since I called here , but if I am in Syston on a Friday it’s always been good for sausage and bacon baguettes,I think last time I came folk were miserable because I think it had new owners but the sandwich was okay, not sure what they have changed but the bacon today was dry and overcooked as were the mushrooms, as for service with a smile that’s gone out of the window, it’s like the staff have forgotten that they work in the service industry, bacon mushroom baguette, crisps and a can of pop £6.10 , I think greggs around the corner is now the best option which is a shame as I do like supporting smaller businesses hopefully things improve I’ll probably try again in the next couple of months hoping today was just an off day

So this is a bakery I usually frequented a lot but not recently as I believe it changed hands, before I used to spend a lot of money in there now not so much as the quality has decreased a lot across a lot of their items, I had a bacon and sausage cob, the the bap itself was nice and the sausage was OK, but the bacon was as hard as concrete, I believe it was left under the hot lamps way too long, almost broke my front tooth on it when I bit into it, the sweet section and cob section was underwhelming compared to a few months prior that I went there. Also always used to have at least 5 staff on and a line out of the door no matter what time of the day you went there, but not now as there was only 1 member of staff (who was lovely) on and only 2 other customers in there besides myself in peak hours. I would love to understand the drop in quality of the products there and the atmosphere in general since new management took over, such a sad state of a once thriving business.

Sadly this wonderful gem of a shop has declined in recent months. Today only ham or mayonnaise with small amount of tuna offered as fillings. Granary baps much drier than they once were and as for the cherry bakewells, obviously contracted out to the local primary school

Visited this morning at 10.45 am . And was quite shocked how this once lovely bakery has gone completely downhill .. I ask for a cheese salad cob there was no lettuce 🥬 available I then askd for beetroot none available there was no coleslaw basically there was no fillings .. disappointed .. hardly any cakes and bare shelves Will not visit again

Nice fresh bread, home baked, very reasonable price. I recommend the Bakewell tart. It is a privilege to have an independent baker. Thank you.

Went to this bakery on a too good to go order, the cakes, bread and pastries are amazing, returned today and brought more cakes and bread, the staff are friendly and welcoming and always happy to help

This has clearly gone downhill since changing ownership. Poor quality and variety of products. £3 for a one sausage cob is ridiculous. The sausage was cut diagonally whichwas weird. It was tasty but it wasn't warm. Cob was dry and clearly wasn't from todays batch. We will not be returning

As already mentioned.new owners.prices have doubled.food has halved amount.been going must be 20yrs.wont be walking through the door again.£4.20 for a sausage and half on a small baguette.disgraceful as customers know it was half that with everything on it

Update: Nothing personal, but since it's been taken over the quality/range of products available has gone seriously downhill. I don't think the previous offering was fully appreciated. Unfortunately I can see it going bust unless they employ an artisan baker, as the current offering can't compete with the likes of Greggs/Subway etc. Shame. _____________________________ Good quality bread and cakes at a fair price. Just hope the new owners keep it that way! They just need to get rid of some of the rude and disengaged staff who have been there far too long for their own good (and ours).

Fabulous filled cobs at a very good price. Make sure you get there early if you want a filled cob as lots of fillings sell out fast! They serve hot breakfast fillings too in the morning. There’s always a queue but it moves pretty fast. There’s a minimum £3 spend on card but normally I’m able to hit this limit.

Great food but service by young girl was awful, no manners at all. Could easily put new customers off, luckily I've been plenty of times.

Best iced buns!! I always stock up on their delicious fresh bread when i’m up visiting family in this area. It’s a family run bakery so I like supporting this place over getting my bread (and bakery treats) from chain supermarkets! It’s worth the extra stop.

Why go to a chain food outlet, when you have the best locally. Excellent cobs and cake and if your nice to them you will even get a smile.

Love this bakery’s bread and pastry’s. All a good prices so it makes it affordable to have a breakfast treat of a hot cob with bacon sausage or whatever combination. The granary loaf is so delicious I go every week from Birstall to syston to get one.

Disappointing cakes taste synthetic with cheap tasting chocolate! Soft shortbread biscuits, wouldn't buy cakes from here again.

A very good and nice place for lunch time food. Friendly staff and clean, prices are very reasonable. Choices are plentiful. I regularly pop here.

Great local bakery, friendly staff and very nice selection of breads and pastries. The sandwiches are fresh and a generous portion!

The best place by far in syston ohy god I love their doughnuts and sausage cobs all home made its worth every penny if you haven't tried once you eat here you'll avoid tesco doughnuts!! Fantastic food

Food good, sadly not always got what you need from the hot food side, been a few times and they’ve ran out of baguettes or tomatoes etc, maybe better management needed but I still go back as I can’t fault the food or value! Staff also helpful and friendly

So good that I couldn't even wait to eat it before taking a pic! Lovely cobs and jam doughnuts. Great service, prices and yummy! Minimum £3 spend for card payments, but I guarantee you will want to spend more than that at this amazing bakery! Particularly recommend this place if you like very generously filled crusty cobs/rolls!!!

Great bread and delightful staff. Would have given 5* had it not been for the miserable fella who took my call a few weeks ago. Unsure if it was the owner or the Baker but just as well he doesn't work in the shop.

The atmosphere was by far the worst i've had in syston and there was mainly one cause for inconvenience. It was the youth in and outside of the cafe that were disriptive and loud. The service however was an improvement but still not as good as other places in Syston. I suppose that is why it is ranked #17 in the area! Would not recommend..
