We went for walk to lake Buttermere and discovered this tearoom on the way. Such a cozy place serving great dishes and coffee. I had the lamb stew and loved it! Husband had a pie, that was great too! Alas, we were too full to try out the very tempting cakes or icecream.

Loved this place. From arriving to leaving, it ticked all the boxes! The staff are all really friendly and helpful and the decor is modern but has kept a rustic feel. The food is delicious. They have a wide variety of savory options, pies, ice cream and cakes and everything looks tantalising as shown in the photos. They even cooked the bacon, on my egg and bacon sandwich well done on my request. A must visit if you're in the area!

Today was our second visit to Sykes Farm Tea Rooms and my memory didn't lie to me . It was a beautiful day but we sat inside with our little dog to get a break from the sun . We sat on one of the four tables down stairs but there is also seating upstairs and some wooden bench tables outside . It is dog friendly which is great and honey our cavapoo was gifted a dog treat and a cuddle from one of the staff . We both had the steak and ale pie with mash and mushy peas and it was delightful.Very tasty and a good portion size too. My boyfriend also had a scone with jam and cream followed by cherry ripple ice-cream ( homemade on the farm ) he said both were great 👍. We probably should try the larger tea room in the village but we enjoy it so much here that I think we will always return . We parked in the carpark just up the hill which is run by The National trust but there is also 2 car parks in the village and some road parking just outside the village but it's limited and deffo first come first served .

Great offerings from pies to cakes and luscious ice cream. We had goat cheese and sweet potatoes pie which was one of the best pies we ever had. Lime, lemon & cashew ice cream was a nice discovery. Apple pie ice cream didn't disappoint. Ginger and carrot cake tasty, maybe a bit dry, needed the icing. A bit pricey overall. Great location after a walk around Buttermere Lake. Very busy at peak time. Lovely staff

We came here three different times during our stay in Buttermere and were glad we came each time! The food and service are excellent, and staff are very friendly. This is the perfect spot to finish a hike around Buttermere Lake, especially if you need to warm up or stay dry, as the trail approaching is beautiful. We also enjoyed take-away one day for our hike, which was great.

We had been for a walk around Buttermere in beautiful bright sunshine, but very cool. We really needed a drink so called into Sykes Farm Tea Room. We are so pleased we did. We were a bit early for lunch but when told they had home-made lamb stew with dumplings we decided to eat early. DELICIOUS. The portion side was just right and the coffee was good too. My husband had mint sauce with him portion, but to be quite honest it wasn't really needed it was so tasty and there was mintiness in the dumplings I think. The staff were so welcoming and friendly. We did like the look of the amazing cakes but were too full for that. It can get busy, especially with people buying takeaways to eat whilst on their various walks so just be prepared for that. There is limited seating downstairs, but there is some upstairs and on a nice day there are lovely seats outside. If I go to that area again I will most certainly call in here. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Popped in here for a late lunch after a hike up to Whiteless Pike. The cafe is so much more than a cafe. The meals are superb and as you order you can even see the lovely chef preparing the food and looking out smiling at people. I had the vegetable soup with a cheese scone which so so divine I could have eaten it again if I wasn’t so full. My husband had the Scotch egg which came with a lovely salad. Hot chocolate with marshmallows & a slab of chocolate was also to die for. Lovely happy cheery staff made the visit even better. Thankyou ladies for a great lunch x

We visited Sykes for escape from torrential rain & winds, hoping for a quick sit-down to dry off and a coffee. Myself and my boyfriend live in London and are no strangers to cake & coffee shops - but Sykes’ cakes were unparalleled over those we’ve sampled in London. We had the coffee cake and the vegan apple and cinnamon. Both were absolutely sublime, and the apple & cinnamon was the best, most exquisite vegan cake I’ve ever tasted. If I could’ve purchased a repeat delivery subscription for that cake alone, let me tell you I’d have paid a fortune for it. Thanks for surpassing all expectations!!

Fabulous Tea Room with wonderfully friendly staff, and the most divine vegetarian pie I’ve ever had! I have to admit that I really wasn’t keen on the idea of a Curried Cauliflower Pie - but I was hungry and thought if I don’t like it at least I’ll have mashed potatoes to line my stomach. But I couldn’t have been more wrong - everything from presentation to taste and texture was superb! My son and daughter-in-law also enjoyed their food options too. We did eye the cakes (which looked amazing) but there was literally no room for any more food! Highly recommended and definitely worth visiting.

Ordered a pie and 2 bottles of water. No one else was in there to be served. Sat there 25 minutes waiting for the pie despite the pies being on show. 4 customers came in and were served straight away. I asked where my pie was they had forgot ? Why ? The lad said pie sh$t! They weren’t actually busy, god knows how they would cope in a busy tearoom or cafe. I asked for a refund as it was beginning to get darker and the weather was turning. We politely left. Shame really as they looked lovely pies but I’ll never know.

As you drive into Buttermere the Old School House is on the right and Syke Farm Tearooms are on the left. We came across this lovely tearoom (adjoining Syke Farm) as we finished an anti-clockwise walk around Buttermere. The cafe is run by a group of welcoming ladies (from the farm) who bake the wide range of delicious cakes & scones, etc. They also provide hot lunches (filled Yorkshire puddings, soups and pies etc). The cafe initially looks quite small inside with limited seating but there is a large mezzanine floor with plenty of room. We only stopped for coffee and scones (which are served warm from the oven & were excellent) We’ll be certain to make sure we stop there again on our next visit.

If you visit Buttermere, it’s a must you visit this cafe. It’s the best place for service and food. We live in Cornwall and lots of cafe’s but I have to say this is the best I’ve ever visited. Thank you we will be back.

We come here every time we are in buttermere! The food is delicious we had a vegan sandwich with a homemade tomato and rosemary soup and a sweet potato, goats cheese pie. Both were brilliant! Thankyou to all the staff. Your customer service is superb!...

Proper sausage sandwhich, lovely homemade soup, nice piece of homemade cake to follow. Whatever time of year we come here the staff are friendly and professional. It's just a top cafe.

Such a lovely spot and nice service staff. But I have to say that the sandwich I had was one of the worst I had in years. They use part-baked supermarket baguettes and cook them in the oven. Mine was not fully cooked. The filling...

Lovely place to drop into for a bite to eat. We'd walked the very popular circuit of Buttermere and we're feeling peckish. We ordered the sub with meatballs and a chicken broth. Both were delicious! The sauce on the sub and meatballs was scrummy and...

Stopped for a cream tea which the wife enjoyed. Usual 2 scones provided with jam and clotted cream and a good pot of tea. They normally do Gluten Free cream tea but due to high demand had sold out of GF scones. They were however able to supply GF cheese scones so I had a savoury version of cream tea, 2 GF cheese scones, a tomato chutney and a cream cheese. Was very nice and would recommend.

A very peaceful place to stay, in the centre of Newport, conveniently located, close to the bus station and to restaurants. Charming interiors, with a lot of character. Spacious, comfortable and clean room. Breakfast is served, and freshly prepared after the order is made. Hostess is friendly and Staff polite. We will definitely stay there again!

Stopped here for tea and we're so glad we did. Loose leaf tea in a china tea pot (not one of those awful stainless steel ones that dribbles all over the table), a tea strainer, china cups and saucers and a china milk jug - this is how tea should be served. The Bakewell slice and chocolate cake were both delicious and the portions very generous. The friendly welcome and engaging staff added to the enjoyment. Looking forward to the next visit.
