Syiok-Lah in Sheffield

I’m getting more and more into Thai/ Malaysian/ Asian food – especially a good noodle dish with some fried chicken, a bit of spice and I especially like it when a dish topped with a fried egg. Or a decent Thai curry / a laksa with a good kick of spice goes down well too. So when we visited Syiok-Lah, they provided two of my ultimate plates of heaven; Maggie Goreng – Fried Chicken (£13.95): Stir-fried Malaysian noodles with mixed veg, egg, topped with spring onion, crispy shallots, fresh chillies, and lime to finish. Rice Dish – Beef Rendang (12.95): 6 hours slow-cooked beef in 10 combinations of herbs, spices, coconut milk and toasted coconut. Served with coconut rice and cucumbers. Garnish with coriander and fresh chillies We also shared a Chicken Satay Bao Bun (£7.50) Everything was exceptionally delicious and we cleared the plates (as you can see). The service was swift and staff really helpful and friendly. Other dishes on their menu include Roti Canai (two pieces of flaky roti bread served with a choice of Beef Rendang or Chicken Curry), Laksa, Loaded Fries, Chicken Drumsticks and more. There is only one Vegan option currently but this may change as they grow?!

was told that the Malaysian food was really good so I had high expectations….however the teh tarik was watery and bland, and the nasi lemak was super disappointing. Small pieces of chicken, a tiny scoop of fried anchovies and bland sambal. Sadly I won’t be trying their food again.

Chicken for the satay was wrapped in sink…..horrible. Only a little satay sauce, poor offering for salad. We won’t be back.

I had a Nasi Lemak. It was just like how you get it in Malaysia! Highly recommended to anyone. I will be going back. 11 out of 10

Nasi lemak is highly recommended!! The fried chicken is tasty, sambal could be hotter and acar not as spicy as what I've had back home, but I think it's among the best nasi lemak in the UK. Not all food in cutlery works are as good but would come back just for this.

Didn't attend the restaurant, but were at a event at sneinton market! Food was amazing! Had the noodle and chicken dish! Service was quick and was sooo tasty! Great for the price!

the food literally brought me back to Malaysia! every item were rich, flavourful and authentic. would definitely recommend and will 100% come back in the future. their signature fried chicken is something to die for and their nasi lemak is 10/10! curry noodles and chicken curry was a bang as well. very very satisfied!

Last night we ate at Syiok Lah in Cutlery Works - it was absolutely amazing, highly recommend the Maggi Goreng with fried chicken. Can't wait to come back and try the bao buns!

Overall food taste ok but the nasi lemak fried chicken is super salty. Maggie goreng abit too sweet (for kid) The acar vegetable is authentic Flavour from msia. Satay is taste ok but a bit different with msia style.

Perfect cure for my homesickness- authentic! I absolutely loved the nasi lemak, definitely the best out of all malaysian restaurants in sheffield. The sambal was exactly how I like it, and such crispy chicken! Maggi goreng was good, but definitely could do with more flavour- noodles and the egg was cooked really well though! I had the satay as well. The flavour was very authentic! Peanut sauce was could do with a bit more flavour but not bad as well! Highly recommend, can’t wait to pay another visit!! :)

Best street food you'll find in Nottingham! The chicken is always juicy, crunchy and flavourful and the Nasi Lemak is a very good portion and variety. Been their no.1 customer since day 1 and we're always back for more 🤤 You can definitely taste the love in their cooking and not even a single item on their menu fails to impress 🤩🤩🤩

The nasi lemak dish tasted fantastic, I would definitely recommend it to anyone. The achaar was also very good. However, the laksa noodles let me down, it did not have the depth of flavour I was expecting from it. It tasted very watered down and the soup itself tasted as if it came from a ready made package; not good quality. The laksa does not represent the original authentic Malaysian version. I could not finish the laksa. Please improve your recipe, you are better than this. Malaysia Boleh 🇲🇾

I don't write reviews that much, but I've gotta say for this being my first experience with malaysian cuisine and making malaysian cuisine my new favourite, that's gotta say something. It really felt like heaven in my mouth 😁 Thank you for the great experience.

Authentic Malaysian food! Crunchy achar and fantastic sambal! Not to mention crispy chicken and yummy coconut rice. Best Nasi lemak ever! ( I’ve lived in London and couldnt find anything like this)
