We arrived Saturday night at 8.00 to find just four other diners, the place was so cold that they were sat with their coats on, and the place was dimly lit, not for atmospheric presence, more to do with that half the bulbs had blown in the light fittings! and no wonder as the whole place looked as though it had been thrown together in a few days, the decor was awful, tasteless and crass with unfinished tiling and dirty seats. We should have turned round and gone somewhere else, but decided to stay. The service was ok, a little slow, to say that there were more waiters than eaters. Cobra came as flat as a pancake, and the food fell flat too. Our starters were cold, and our mains were unedable. My lamb was so tough I couldn't cut it, my partners meal was lacking in chicken, only three peices. I visited the loo's before leaving.....I just wish I hadn't. They were filthy, no hot water to wash hands, no paper towels and the hand dryer didn't work. There were nails sticking out of the woodwork, the tiles were chipped and the whole place looked as though it had been thrown together by a group of first year joinery students (11 year olds) The entrance is strewn with cigarette ends, empty energy cans and dirty napkins, parking is on the grass verge outside the restaurant. Normally there is a star guide outside 99% of restaurants, theirs couldn't be seen! and I now know why.How on earth did this place get a food licence!

Food is very nice however and service is friendly. Probably won't rush back. If you're going I advise a weekend only otherwise you'll be the only ones there.....and there's nothing to look at on the walls either!

I make no exaggeration in saying this is far and away the worst attitude I have ever experienced from waiting staff (and possibly the manager, although they all pointed the finger at each other). When asked how the meal was, I discreetly and politely let the waiter know that there was an issue with the lamb meal (the issue being that the lamb was too tough to cut, never mind chew). He tried to claim that this is how lamb should be. He offered a substitution but I said we would just eat the rest of the meal, which we were already half way through, and would like them to deal with the complaint. He said he would notify the manager to speak to us, which didn't happen. We spoke to a second waiter, who told us that the first waiter WAS the manager! Both waiters/managers refused to refund us for the meal we didn't (and indeed couldn't) eat, steadfast in their opinion that by declining the substitution we must pay up. On top of the lies about who was the manager, we were accused of eating most of the inedible meal (which we of course didn't), told we were "very cheeky", and talked over the whole time we tried to discuss the matter with great restraint. After a very long and unpleasant interchange, the dish was eventually removed from the bill as the waiter continued to talk down to us. The rest of the meal was very average in any case, but I have plainly never been spoken to by waiters/managers in this way before and is the reason I would strongly advise against putting yourself in this position.

Been quite a few times here and always been ok,but after our last visit things have definitely taken a turn for the worst. We waited approximately 10 mins before been asked for our drinks order and a further 15 for our food order.Eventually the starters came apart from one of our party which they had completely forgot about, after 10 mins it came by then we had all finished ours. Then to the mains,a completely wrong order was brought to our table TWICE.Overall the service has completely downhill, the food was average and not up to the great standards of the past.

Service poor. One of our party had to go to the bar to ask the waiter for poppadoms and pickle tray as we were just left at the table with our drinks. I had onion bhajiis and I have to admit they were the best ones I've had in a long long time. Light and crispy and totally delicious. The Goan fish curry, though advertised as hot, was as mild as a korma and the sauce, although pleasant, wasn't overly tasty. Chappatis were excellent, as was rice. Wouldn't say was one of the best curry houses I've been to and they certainly need some training on customer service. Wouldn't recommend to friends.

On arrival we noticed we were the only people within the restaurant but was greeted and shown to our table then left for 20 minutes before the waiter finally came over and we ordered poppadums and veg and drinks. He then disappeared for another 20 mins and on returning ignored our calls going to the bar instead. Having shouted him over we ordered mains and sides. All the food arrived and was exquisite and definitely worth the wait. Due to the bad customer service we didn't have time for dessert as our show at the arena was starting so we left. I will definitely return to taste more of the tasty items on the menu but hope from reading this the staff get a training session in how to serve and look after their customers.

We arrived at 6pm straight from work and were the only people in the restaurant, you might think as there were 14 of us that we might have got some attention but frankly the service was slow. The food took over an hour to arrive and came in fits and starts, several people were waiting a while for their dishes. A straw poll held at work following the weekend concluded that not one person rated the food and everyone was rather dissatisfied with the service. You would think that with so many of us and no one else eating the staff would be attentive but we had to call them over several times to ask for drinks. Just to clarify I was driving and was stone cold sober. I ordered lamb biryani which was unlike any other I have had before, more than a little let down. Avoid, there are far better Indian restaurants in the area that deserve your money far more.

It's the only Indian restaurant in the area. A bit of a walk from our hotel but we love an Indian meal so we went in. Nice simple decor and nice very polite waiters we were encouraged. Food was poor to good. The Tandoori Lamb Sizzler was great but please don't charge high prices for veg Byriani that just had rice, carrots, chickpeas and one piece of cauliflower in it because it's not fair on vegetarians to be charged the same price as a meat dish when little thought has gone into veggie meals!Beer was £3.70 a pint Cobra - a bit pricey. Sparkling water £1.95!!! Rip off - not even half a pint. Review your veggie options please Jewel.

Four of us visited here on a Saturday evening prior to a concert at the Arena. We hadn’t intended on going here, but all the restaurants on the Centertainment had 1 ½ hour wait! There were only two other tables occupied when we got there, though it rapidly filled up.On the outside it looks quite modern, however inside it’s a little sparse and has a ‘cold’ atmosphere. We had 4 poppadoms with a pickle tray which was quite small. To start we had Onion Bhajis (x2), Paneer Skewers, and Lahsoori Tikka (Chicken). All of the starters were ‘ok’, and the skewers the best. For the main courses we had Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Tikka Pathia, Murg Markani (Chicken), and Chicken Karahi, along with 2 Pilau rice, a plain Nan, a garlic Nan and a portion of chips. All the mains were also ok, the Pathia the best, and the Tikka Masala was the most 'colourful' I’ve ever seen! (See photos). The Murg Markani was ok, but didn't have much flavour. We also had 6 pints of Cobra, and two glasses of red wine (very large glasses). The bill came to £92 for the four of us.The service was good and our waiter very polite.Overall the food is Ok, as it’s not a ’bad curry’, though there are better places in Sheffield.

The Jewel is in a prime location to visit if you are going to the Arena and right by Centertainment. I dine here often as the chain food in Centertainment isn't always very appealing and I want fresh prepared food. The only downside to the restaurant is the limited parking to the rear but that being said, the times I go which tends to be around 6-6.30pm I've never had a problem parking. The staff are always very welcoming and recognise me as a regular I suspect but the food is great and I've never had a problem there. Went for a meal on Friday night before a show at the Arena. We arrived at the restaurant at 6.30 leaving us an hour and half before we needed to be in the Arena. The restaurant had 3 tables in only. We sat a while at the bar before being seated, as did another couple. When we were seated we ordered drinks, mine came separately to my partners. We ordered a pickle tray and our food and still 20 minutes later we still had no pickle tray. The waiters were running around but not actually doing anything, if that makes sense.Waiter came over and apologised that they had forgot, I explained we were at the arena in an hour and we really needed to get eating asap.Anyway, pickle tray came as did the food at about 7.15. It doesn't take 45 minutes, but anyway...as soon as I looked at the curry I knew it would be bland. The sauce wasn't how I'd usually expect a dopiaza to be. It had no flavour! Also whilst I appreciate they want to make an effort, they tried to make the place something that it isn't. Putting my napkin on my lap for me is stretching it a bit far. Wouldn't go back. Overall service and food was a bit rubbish.

We've been here a few times both for takeaways and to eat in. First and foremost, I've got to say that the staff and customer service is probably the best I've experienced anywhere in Sheffield. It's fair to say that my girlfriend is a fussy vegetarian, and she always asks for something a little different to what's on the menu. However, this is never any problem and she always gets just what she's after. I usually go for one of the chef's specials, which have all been good so far and can really recommend the garlic chilli chicken! Whilst my girlfriend thinks the food is the best from any Indian in Sheffield, I think the Aagrah is at least as good for meat dishes, but the service and friendliness of the staff go along way to putting this place right up there. The restaurant its self is nice - modern and tastefully decorated. All in all, it's hard to see how you'd be disappointed eating here. Good food, great service and tasteful surroundings. In short - horrendous experience at this place last night. Only had the place burnt down before we got our food could have made it worse than it was.Family meal out ended up with us here. We usually go to Ashoka, Ecclesall Road but tag along with family to try somewhere new. Walked in at about 8 to be greeted with a 10 minute wait sat at the front of the restaurant while two other groups were seated - no menu's so cant look to be ready for a speedy order. I then noticed only two staff members for the half full restaurant, which given around 35 people where now inside got me a little worried.Sat down, then and menus where given straight away and drinks ordered after 10 minutes. These arrived, orders were taken and then nothing - until around 9:30 when our starter arrived, after having to prompt the staff. Neither of the two looked stressed or worried and seem relaxed enough, but to say they should between them have been busy and working with pace they didn't seem to care. My food was 4 thin slices of chicken - which at £5 a starter is expensive, which is fine if the quality is good, but it wasn't. Chicken dry and very poor quality, worse than you'd accept from a cheap takeaway. Sauce tasted like it was out of the same sort of quality too.Starters took around 30 seconds to be eaten as by this point we were all starving, but main course did not arrive until around 10:30 - 2.5 hours after arrival. My food arrived cold, the sauce had developed a skin it had been stood for so long, everyone elses was super hot, microwave hot. Sauce was tasteless for a butter chicken and again the quality seemed like a low grade off the shelf mix. Chicken was extremely tough and was not all cooked. Christ knows how they managed that. Most of it was left on the plate, though to this places credit, the rice was tasty. All in all, terrible wait times not made up for by horrendous quality and disinterested service.Small portion sizes too, even by a gourmet standards. I think I had around 200g of chicken over two courses. All in all, go elsewhere.

Came here after the cinema with a friend on Friday. I ordered starters (bhajis) and a main course (punjabi chicken) with rice and naan. The staff were pleasant and attentive and the food was served quickly and came well presented in white ceramic bowls which I do prefer to the stainless steel 'dated' dishes! so all in all above average but not outstanding. I was disappointed with the size of the peshwari naan and how it was served 'pre cut' like a pizza (I prefer to tear n share). I would visit again if in the area but much prefer the outstanding food quality/value for money and surroundings of Viraaj or Cutlers Spice as my personal choice. I thought it a bit overpriced for the dining experience you actually get!

Arrived without booking at around 20.30. We were asked to wait, but weren't offered any drinks...I eventually requested some drinks, and these were served after 5 mins. We were then seated in at a table with very dim lighting ( in fact the people on the next table used their phone light to read the menu ), and minimalist decor. The good thing is the tables aren't on top of each other. The service was ok, however the food was very poor. The starter, mixed kebab, was very small and tasteless. The mains we chose were any better. Mine was Chicken Tikka Balti, and this was served in a ceramic bowl, not the expected balti metal dish. The chicken was tough and some parts didn't appear to be fully cooked..it certainly wasn't tikka, just plain chicken. The sauce was just plain with no veg at all, nothing like a balti. The other dish was Bengali Fish, the fish was nice, but there wasn't much fish, sauce was tasty, but again no veg. We had a boiled rice and mushroom rice, these were ok, but small. We also had a peshwari nan, which was very nice..very sweet. For 1 starter, 2 main, 2 rice and 1 nan, plus 2 pints and 1 orange juice, the bill came to £43.40..which when we checked we found we had been overcharged by £5.00...we advised the waiter, and he knew straight away why there had been a problem. He made the excuse that he had added the bill up very quickly..or was he trying it on !!I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, however, a big plus point...no dodgy stomach after the experience !!

We've been hear about 6 or 7 times now and each time have had a great meal, the staff are very friendly and can't do enough for you but they don't hover around, just appear when you want them. The food is very fresh, piping hot with old favourites plus some more unusual dishes, such as julienne of duck strips as a starter, some very nice fish dishes and unusually, a beef dish, I haven't tried this yet but fully intend to. It is spotlessly clean with linen tablecloths and napkins and I think reasonably priced for the quality of the food and service. Limited choice if you just want wine by the glass but adequately nice. This has definately become a regular of ours with nice extra touches like the staff holding the door open for you and shaking your hand, I hope it continues to be successful

The team at Jewel took everything in hand for a large group and carefully staggered the ordering process to ensure that the kitchen could prepare everything to come out together. A few minor glitches were taken care of discretely and professionally. The food was excellent, slight variations on dishes allowed it to be new but still familiar.I particularly enjoyed the Junglee Khargosh - or Jungle Carwash as one of my esteemed colleagues immediately dubbed it (not sure about the spelling I'm afraid) which was a delicious stewed rabbit on the bone with a pleasantly spicy gravy. I would definitely go back. The only thing preventing five stars for this restaurant is it's tricky location and limited parking.

We visited this place a while ago now for the first time and have been back 3 times since. The food is always fresh and hot and the choice is great. They have your classic dishes and some very exciting signature dishes. I had the lamb which was absolutely lovely. The only bad thing is that the portions are a little bit on the small side - but thats only cos I wanted more cos it tasted so good.....

We thought we would try Jewel as a change to Akbars, upon entering the restaurant we were not greated by the usual decor which was a pleasant change. I was not expecting great things from the food but I must say that the jalfrezi was one of the best dishes I have ever tasted! Would definitely recommend!

Me and my wife called in this restaurant on the off chance as we passed it and hadn't tried this indian before and what a lovely place this is the decor is very fresh and modern and certainly a notch up from other indians we have been to. We were greeted by friendly staff who waited on us all night in a polite manner and the food was beautiful with a few different meals on the menu - duck and plenty of fish dishes the food tasted fantastic and the service was marvellous slightly more pricey than your average indian but dont let this put you off going we would strongly recommend this restaurant

We have driven past this restaurant so many times on our way to work so we were looking forward to this pre Christmas meal. We arrived to a very nice welcome and was impressed by the decor and the size of the place, from the outside it looks tiny. The menu was excellent and comprehensive, something for every taste. The service was professional and friendly and the waiters only ever came to the table when beckoned - this is good for me as I'm not keen on being pestered to see if we need more drinks. The food was divine and just enough so you didnt have that "too full" feeling. Again after we had finished we weren't pestered about desserts and were offered complimentary coffees and teas towards the end of our evening. The bill came, we had to check it twice, £20 each for a two course meal with drinks is great value! and we all said we would definitely go back. Other restaurants in this genre should learn by this example, don't try and get too many people into the restaurant, don't have the music on too loud and leave your customers to enjoy their meal and company.

My Husband and I had an evening out with his Sister and Brother in Law at Sheffield arena, on leaving the Venue we walked the short distance to the Jewel on Attercliffe Common. This was our first ever visit and on walking through the door we were very impressed by the modern décor and very clean and fresh look. We were greeted by a very pleasant smiley young man and shown to a very nice table, plenty of room between tables which I am sure would be an advantage on busy nights. The restaurant was completely empty, which was a shame but it was a Tuesday night and quite late. The menus were brought very quickly and a drinks order was taken and delivered in a timely manner. We were given ample time to study the plentiful menu and again a very polite young man took our order and starters were brought quickly, served nice and hot and delicious. our main courses were delivered in separate dishes which our party quite liked, the food was very nicely cooked and as described on the menu, however the plates we ate from would have been nicer if they had been hot, but this did not deter from the flavours. The only thing I didn't like was the pudding my Sister opted for was served in a plastic dish, although she did say "it was to die for". Overall a very pleasing experience, good quality food, tasty and served by lovely staff. Shame it wasn't busier - so if your in Sheffield or have been for a night out at the Arena and want to avoid the traffic queues give this a try - they really deserve to be busier on a week night. Slightly more expensive than your usual Indian, but worth that little extra for a pleasant night out in a good location.

Went to Sheffield especially for Jewel and I must say it was delicious. Although it was quiet with only a couple of tables in as we arrived, the service was great and the food was amazing. The building could do with being brighter as we nearly missed it and the car park is tiny and virtually impossible to see the entrance but we were greeted with a friendly welcome. Would really recommend this place and will go again very soon

Decided to visit jewel for a birthday meal, we as a family love our curry and have been eating at one particular place for many years but decided it was time for a change, have to say I was really pleased we did. It was a busy Saturday night when we went in November, however we didn't have long to wait for a table. The place has a lovely atmosphere, lively but not too loud.I had chicken tikka starter and although the portion was a bit on the small side, the chicken melted in my mouth, very tasty and obviously freshly prepared, the presentation was also very good.We ordered chicken and lamb dishes for mains, again excellent quality food, plentiful and very well presented. The service was excellent with plenty of waiting staff, but didnt feel like they were on top of you all the time as with some places, when they had checked it was all to our satisfaction we were left alone to enjoy our fabulous meal. The place is spotlessly clean, with plenty of low lighting so you can actually see your food. There is an excellent choice on the menu but not too much to feel overwhelmed we did wait a while for our mains but it was well worth it and we simply enjoyed a drink. This place ticked all our boxes a really lovely evening with superb quality freshly prepared food could not fault it and can't wait to come back with the rest of our family

I visited Jewel about a month ago with my partner. We went early evening before a late film showing at nearby Cineworld. I called the day before to make a reservation and although when we arrived, we were the only people there, it would not take long to fill up once the early showings finish or if there was an event on at the nearby Arena. We visited as a result of reading a review in a local magazine and I was tempted by the different dishes they serve like slow cooked rabbit and my favourite beef Shatkora. The food was first class and served up with a modern twist. The service was spot on. There wasn't anything I could fault. This is not your boozed up end of the night curry house. It's one to be savoured when you want something a little more special. Will definitely be returning soon.

Visited this restaurant quite early on a Thursday night around 7pm and it was totally empty but they were setting up for a large party of 20+.which arrived a little later. Glad I got my order in first before they arrived. The restaurant has a fresh decor being quite minimalistic and neutral. The tables have nice cloth table clothes and napkins far better than paper so often seen lately.I ordered the "Hot meat" starter (and I love hot) and I wasn’t disappointed! Next I choose a “Chicken Tikka Sizzler” which arrived sizzling on a hot skillet and not swimming in oil with just enough onions. I thought this was quite bland tasting though. Admittedly I don't often order this dish I just fancied a drier meat dish on this occasion along with vegetable curry side dish which was great and a Garlic and Chilli nan which was well made having the ingredients evenly spread although quite a heavy dough. They have Cobra and Kingfisher on draft at £3.50 a pint but the bottles are expensive at £4.95.The wines seemed reasonable between £11.95 for house up to £18.95 for a decent Spanish Rioja.Service was efficient but not too personal. All in all definitely worth a visit - recommended.

We went on a Monday night and were the only people in, the staff were lovely and attentive and our food was excellent. It is rather minimalist but this seems to be the 'fashion' in many Indian restaurants these days. Car park at rear not very big, good job as we are not local and wouldn't know where else to park. We eat out often and usually at an Indian and this was certainly one of the best, good service, good food, not over priced. Excellent. If we were local we would be in all the time.

This place has a very minimalist decor, kinda makes it less inviting but all the tables are well spaced out. Seems more like an upmarket cocktail bar than an Indian.Waited ages for the food but it was worth the wait. Ordered a "hot meat" for starters which was very nice! Main was a mix jalfrezi with prawns, chicken and lamb, not on the menu but they were happy to oblige.

I visited here early evening with a work colleague following a recommendation from other colleagues. Didn't even know it existed, come on guys, better publicity needed! Maybe a better sign on the side of the building?Anyway, the decor is nicely contemporary, and follows the current trend to break away from 'conventional' Indian restaurant decor. Neutral colours, nice tiled floor, comfy furniture, good lighting (Akbaar's shortcoming).A nice warm welcome awaited, and we were soon shown to our table. The menu includes all the usual classic favourites, but we were drawn to the long list of 'Chef Signature' dishes - there's duck, rabbit, fish and more. We chose beef with Bangladeshi lime (an unusual combination that works superbly) and slow-cooked Rajasthani lamb, that just melted. Both were excellent, and we'd never come across them before.I'd concur with other comments on here that the price is a bit higher than many Indian restaurants, but I reckon we got top-notch food in very comfortable surroundings so don't personally mind paying a bit more.Friendly service, and helpful explanations of some of the ingredients that we weren't familiar with, rounded off an excellent experience. Thanks, we'll be back to sample the Khargosh soon!

Having booked into a local Ibis Hotel for an appointment early the next day at Sheffield Uni, we thought we had better book a local restaurant. Using TA I found Jewel was a few hundred yards from the hotel and had great reviews so booked online via their website.Found the restaurant easy enough but as a tip to those not in the know, the car park although visible from the road does not seem to have any access until you have driven past it. You need to slow down (it is a major road) and access via what looks like the pavement along the left hand side of the building. Arrived on time at 8pm on a Sunday night, to find an empty restaurant, no need to have booked at all. As mentioned by other reviewers the waiter was extremely helpful with the menu. There are a lot of quite unusual dishes (as well as the standard fayre for those who wish) and our waiter was very willing to go through everything and also willing to ask the chef to adjust the heat according to taste. We opted for two mixed starters and an additional dish of deep fried king prawns as the mixed starters were for two and there were five of us. I over ordered on the prawns (which affected the total bill) but I must say I cannot remember the last time I ordered king prawns and got king prawns, they were huge! The rest of the mixed starters were also very nice too. The chicken lollipop (bad name methinks) was gorgeous, like a BBQ drumstick but the sauce was excellent. We all had different mains and everyone really enjoyed –all in all and excellent surprise. As a foot note I must say that I run a local curry club, nothing serious but maybe 6 – 10 times a year 10 – 20 local blokes in their 50’s go to one of the many local Indian restaurants. We have a set policy of paying £15 per head (booze extra) and let the restaurant decide on the menu after a discussion with me prior to the night. It is surprising the number of restaurants that will make no effort and try to get as much profit out of the event. However many do make a special effort with some providing dishes off menu (Bangladeshi river fish, whole leg of lamb cooked for hours to name a couple). I would guess that if these guys were closer to us they would make a better effort than any of our locals!

As its some way out of the city, its probably a good choice if you are looking for a quiet evening meal. When I was there most of the other guests seem to be regulars (a good sign), however on 3 / 13 tables in use. The food was very good, at first I thought it a bit bland, but after a while i realised their were many flavours, all quite subtle, and came away having enjoyed the food a great deal. Its next to a small retail park, so probably busier in the day. Neither expensive nor cheap I'd say. Service was very good and friendly.

We went to the Jewel after reading the reviews on here, we were disappointed to say the least. On arrival the restaurant was empty and we were seated quickly. We ordered our food the pickle tray was small and tasteless. For starters we had king prawns again not very tasty, lamb chops plain and not as described on the menu as they should have had home made pickled onions etc and they didn't. The main courses were all very similar although we ordered four different curries, the rice was plain. For four people for a starter and a main the bill was £110 expensive for a simple curry we have had much better from our local take away. We only went here as Jinnahs in ecclesfield is shut lets hope they open soon!!

Firstly, a tip for first time visitors to the Jewel - don't assume that the names of the dishes will match similar dishes in other restaurants. When ordering, explain the very keen and knowledgeable waiter what kind of spices and level of heat you want in your food. We didn't, and ended up with dishes which needed correcting by the kitchen. To be fair, they did, but when we go back, which we will soon, we will engage with the waiter much more. We had two curries which were too bland at first and one which had too many chilis at first. The service is wonderful, everyone of the waiting staff was courteous, keen to help and looked to be enjoying their work. For instance, ordering starters in an Indian restaurant can be a challenge: portion sizes and number of items varies widely. We ordered ours, but the waiter suggested other ways of ordering which saved us a few pounds. The restaurant provides a sense of space, the tables are spread out just enough. However, as the sun set through the large window, the restaurant was a little too dark. The restaurant has its own car park round the back, so it's not necessary to use the Arena or Centertainment next door.

Often Asian food served in England bares no relation to the real thing, however having eaten in the Jewel I can say that the food here is the best I have eaten outside Asia. The whole experience is to be recommended. The restaurant was spotlessly clean, decorated in keeping and had space. Often restaurants cram in extra tables to the detriment of the dining experience, this was not the case in the Jewel. The service was excellent and attentive, the restaurant had Kingfisher and Cobra on tap and an excellent range of wines. The menu included not just the usual dishes you would expect to find in a Bangladeshi /Indian restaurant but many 'house specials' unique to the chef.Four of us ordered a range of food including the mixed grill Balti, chicken Pathia, Murg Murkani chicken and beef Shatkora, also ordered were a range of side dishes including sag alloo, chapaties and peshwari naan. The food arrived quickly, the presentation was excellent. The most impressive aspects of the food that we all agreed upon were the quality of the food and the depth of flavours that flooded through. A range of subtle spices which added to the heat of the dish and thick rich sauces adding taste to the marinated meats. The amount of food in the main dishes was just about right and they were all packed with meat.I can thoroughly recommend this place for lovers of good Indian food and will return on our next visit to the Arena. The cost for four of us including drinks was about £75 which I would suggest is great value.

I’m getting more and more into Thai/ Malaysian/ Asian food – especially a good noodle dish with some fried chicken, a bit of spice and I especially like it when a dish topped with a fried egg. Or a decent Thai curry / a laksa with a good kick of spice goes down well too. So when we visited Syiok-Lah, they provided two of my ultimate plates of heaven; Maggie Goreng – Fried Chicken (£13.95): Stir-fried Malaysian noodles with mixed veg, egg, topped with spring onion, crispy shallots, fresh chillies, and lime to finish. Rice Dish – Beef Rendang (12.95): 6 hours slow-cooked beef in 10 combinations of herbs, spices, coconut milk and toasted coconut. Served with coconut rice and cucumbers. Garnish with coriander and fresh chillies We also shared a Chicken Satay Bao Bun (£7.50) Everything was exceptionally delicious and we cleared the plates (as you can see). The service was swift and staff really helpful and friendly. Other dishes on their menu include Roti Canai (two pieces of flaky roti bread served with a choice of Beef Rendang or Chicken Curry), Laksa, Loaded Fries, Chicken Drumsticks and more. There is only one Vegan option currently but this may change as they grow?!
