Reasonable prices and a lovely choice of snacks and drinks but better in the fine weather as the majority of seating is outside. The shortbread is to die for!

This is a little hut near the Swiss Cottage in the Osborne House grounds and immediately behind the Museum building. It sells a very limited selection of sandwiches and cakes, plus hot and cold beverages. Prices are high - £4 for a thin cheese and pickle sandwich by way of example. I know this is a captive audience, but I think this offering is the wrong side of exploitation. There are a few tables and chairs. I wouldn’t advise using this unless you’re desperate for refreshments.

The sandwiches were not on display, but named on a board. For £4.00 each, they were rather basic, plonked on a paper plate, with no attempt to titivate with a little side salad. As it was a nice day, we sat outside on the rather weatherworn furniture. Possibly, this was the let down of the day, that and the fact that the museum was shut.

When we called in at the swiss cottage tea room for a refreshing cup of tea and coffee, all we got was the back of the lady running the tea room, she never turned round to face us, if that wasn't obnoxious enough, when we made our request we recived a big tut and a gruff huff.
