Went this evening for dinner, food was very good. The service let it down .We felt very rushed we hadn't quite finished our starters when, the young girl came over asking are you finished, then began taking the food away. It was the same with the duck course. We hadn't finished and, was asked are you finished. It was obvious we hadn't finished. It's a Tuesday evening we booked the table. Only 5 tables were occupied. We went out for a relaxing meal it was anything but relaxing. It's definitely gone downhill since previous visits.

I was told my order would be delivered in 1hr. I had to wait 1.5hrs! The garlic ribs were lovely as was the salt & pepper chicken. The chicken curry was tasty but the chicken was overcooked. The shredded duck was a little dry and the Kung Po chicken was disgusting. The chicken was hard and the sauce was indescribable. Photo attached. The egg fried rice and the special fried rice was again a little on the dry side. Needless to say, I won't be ordering from here again!

Very good service and nice surroundings. Staff worked really hard to split the bill. However I ordered crab and sweetcorn soup which had big chunks of those horrid 'seafood sticks' in it. These are made from super-processed fish protein and are junk food. A bad show.

I didn’t go into the restaurant I had a takeaway. Chilli chicken and crispy chilli beef. Far too much, gloopy sauce. Very over cooked noodles. This is not what it used to be.

Food excellent however we were there to celebrate a 18th birthday and was chatting as well as having a nice meal didn’t appreciate as soon as put our forks down the bill being pushed in my face and then a card machine. Didn’t even give the other staff chance to clear. Thought this was quite rude and did impact the end of a lovely meal

Was worried re other reviews . First time been usually go to bath . Steep stairs down to floor , round tables great idea , was Quiet noisy if someone in group has hearing issue . Staff friendly and very quick and helpful. 2/5 Went for mixed starters and 3/5 2 starters each . No problem ordering more or sharing - maybe if some having buffet done not would be problem . Then duck pancakes (slightly dry) but lots pancakes sauce veg - then 2 mains each again sharing not a problem , Mains were quick lots of flavour not greasy and not gloopy like some places . Honey chicken , crispy chilli beef, egg foo young were very good . Would come again - Thanks and well done :)

The staff were incredibly friendly & helpful. The food was delicious. Piping hot and very tasty. We had all you can eat. Where you can pick as many dishes as you like. My 2 year old granddaughter was free, which was great, as she didn't eat a lot. The restaurant was very busy, the staff were still incredible. I'll be recommending this restaurant. We will definitely be returning. Thank you

I’m very disappointed at whoever is preparing their Singapore fried noodles. Yesterday I bought 5plates of Singapore fried noodles for my family and I and none of us could eat because the whole noodles was watery and slimy and tasteless as if it’s been in the fridge and was reheated for me. Please do better

Heard good and bad things about this place but 7 adults, 2 over 10’s and a 5 year old were all pleased with the food but the service and not getting what you asked for is really off putting. Eat as much as you like but when you try to order more stuff they seem reluctant to bring it out. We asked for 4 chicken noodles and the said that’s too much, we said we’re eat it but they only bought 2 and the same with another 2 mains, the starters were bought out but 2 things were missing, so we asked again but we see them talking and they only bought out 1. It seems they decide when you’ve had enough. We cannot moan about the quality but they’re not silly and seem to have a plan on what you can and cannot have too much of. The decor is very run down too, water stains on the restaurant ceiling and the toilet were not great. Won’t be going back anytime soon.

Having been here so many times before it’s normally a good experience. Well from the start it was bad, having to wait 20 minutes for our table to be ready isn’t good. We sat down and asked to order straight away, it was busy so did take some time to get our starters. Very sporadically though, so had two, ate them then more turned up, also missed few items off so had to re order and remind the staff we wanted duck as well. Maine seemed to go off without a hitch apart from when asked for rice for 4 people a small bowl enough for 2 max came out so had to order more. Overall, nice food when it did turn up but the experience was bad. Definitely going downhill unfortunately

The worst Chinese takeaway I’ve ever had. Our usual takeaway was closed so tried this one. They forgot the prawn crackers. The pork in the sweet and sour was not cooked through and was still pink, the chicken was dry and the sweet and sour sauce looked electric it had so much red food dye in it! I felt sick by the end of it and was put off so there was a lot of wasted food as no one in our party was impressed. I’ll be going back to my usual Chinese once they reopen! I’d say, avoid!

After several bad takeways, starting with the munch boxes back in covid times, which were awful and we have since avoided after two soggy cold meals which tasted like they had come from the local chippy! Followed by eating in on a trip to the theatre last year, on a bottomless prosecco night ordering the buffet menu. It was very clear the standard had dropped considerably, which was very disappointing as we presumed the takeaways had been bad due to travelling, but no the food was equally bad, and when asking for more was ignored - yes we had finished our few dishes, but I like to order as I go along as I don't want to be greedy, but the portions were not adequate! Also on asking for another glass of Prosecco, she tutted and asked what time we arrived as it was only 'bottomless' for 2 hours, we had been there 1 hour 20 minutes (booked for 5.30 as we need to be at theatre for 7.15), she resentfully gave us half a glass each, and produced the card machine, although I had said I wanted to order another dish, so we left early and had a drink in the Wyvern. So for some foolish reason a couple of weeks back I decided I wanted a Chinese takeaway .... oh dear when will I learn .... food cold!, which i was prepared for so heated the oven, but the three dishes we order all had the same sweet and sour sauce tipped over them! one was a sweet and sour the other two were crispy beef, which should be dry and a honey buttered prawn dish, which was just batter no prawns covered in the same sauce. The following day they sent through a feed back form which I filled in, but did not get any response from them, not bothered comes to mind!, such a shame as we have supported Alan and his family at all of their restaurants they have had for over 30 years. I've heard Hakka 2 is good so that is were I will now be spending my money on my next Chinese fix!

This was my second visit and unfortunately it wasn't as good as the first. I was part of a group of 10 and initially service was good. However, some of the starters we ordered didn't arrive and had to be chased up. As it got busier the service became worse, as we had to wait sometime before our mains order was taken, with the food arriving over a ten/fifteen minute period, meaning some people waited longer to eat their mains. I was also shocked to find a pint of Pepsi was £4, which even with rising costs is somewhat steep. The food was pleasant but nothing special. Be warned that if you over order and don't eat everything you will be charged.

Collected an order, asked for the £10 quarter duck not shredded. We received it shredded, dry, not able to bite into or chew, it’s just disgusting the restaurant thinks it’s okay to serve food like it. Other dishes very meh! Binned 80% Not had food from them for years. Will not again. AVOID

Went on the 30th December at 17.30hrs not first time however service was irradic and disorganised,food overcooked and not as previous occasions.

Possibly the worst Chinese I have ever had. Inedible! Palming off substandard produce to keep the price down. Had Malaysian chicken that was described as very spicy. I think they forgot to put the spice in it…the most bland dish ever. Won’t be returning…need someone to open a decent Chinese in Swindon.

Went to celebrate our sons graduation. Service was ok, but food was poor. Overcooked and dry prawns and each food dish was very bland. Egg fried rice was terrible. Haven't been for a while but it really seems to have gone downhill - such a shame looking at recent reviews.

My recent visit will be the last. We went as a family to celebrate a birthday and we’ve never had such terrible service. The older lady serving was miserable and made us feel unwelcome. We were made to feel a nuisance when we asked to order dishes and the whole experience put a dampener on our evening. There are plenty of other restaurants locally so we’ll spend our money elsewhere! In future.

We had a bad experience at Swindon Rendezvous. I have never written a review but feel that this was so bad I have to. I dont usually complain but yesterday was disgusting and staff did not care. First of all we got the table, ate a few prawn crackers then i found one of the used lemon wipes in the baske 🤮 they clearly just add more and not give you fresh ones. I did tell the staff but they just shrugged and took them away. Then there were little fruit flys that were everywhere. I mean at least 20 around us! It was disgusting so i raised that and we was told its a new problem that has started this sunmer and they was aware of it and they moved us mid meal as they were all around our table. Why did they even seat us here if they knew this was a problem? They then just put new guests there anyway. We then ordered our main and the dish had the whole burnt taste to it like it stuck to the pan, we tried telling staff who just said what you do not like. I tried explaining it was burnt but again they did not care or did nit understand what i was trying to say. We just decided to leave and didnt eat it as we was put off. The staff didn’t care about us having to pay so much for a vile experience and we barely ate anything when it was supposed to be all you can eat. We dont go out often as have kids and this was a birthday treat. I would NOT recommend this place at all. Its really gone downhill. There are lots of budget chinese all you can eat around and we tried to go a little nicer and honestly it was the biggest waste of money costing over 60 with a drink each and we still had to then get food once we left.

Have been going to Swindon Rendezvous for over 30 years and was always our favourite. During lockdown and they started takeaway we have a few which where not always good, but the last one was awful. I did contact and was told i would be sent a review form, which i filled in, but did not get a response, which basically says they do not care! Such a shame!

Having visited this restaurant on numerous occasions, I was expecting better things. It was a birthday celebration and we were a table of 11. The drinks order was taken quickly but that was the only thing that was. Someone had to ask to give orders for each course, the waiting staff didn't approach us automatically as has previously happened. The vegetarian in our party was offered broccoli with oyster sauce as something she might like - since when is oyster suitable for such a person? For the most part, the food was good but if this had been my first visit, I would think twice before returning due to the unacceptable level of service. It was quite clear that there too many groups and too few staff for the restaurant to run properly.

Haven’t been for a few years but thought we would give it a go. It was a bit hit and miss on the dishes. The chicken satay was dry, Barbecue ribs were dry, tough and had no sauce coating them. On a positive note the crispy duck was adequate, and the mains of special chow mien, crispy chilli chicken were average at best. On the whole I would not say it was good value for money. Mr Mok needs to up his game!

Unfortunately very disappointing. Chaotic ordering, slow service. Very ordinary food, made for what they consider western taste. Restaurants have moved on since the seventies and people expect a more authentic cuisine. The owners really need to up their game as their staff are doing their best to please the customers. Could not recommend to anyone unless their taste is very basic and not bothered with real Chinese food.

We been here numerous times but tonight we were disappointed. The service was very slow. We ordered the buffet for two, starters came out quiet fast but the beef skewers were over cooked the sea weed was awful. Our main course came out in drinks and drabs, the Singapore vermicelli noddles came out first, followed 5 minutes later by one of the mains, I told my hubby to go ahead and start as his would go cold. My main came out when hubby was half way through his, it came out Luke warm as well. And I will say that our table was early evening and it wasn’t full to capacity. I learnt this time that the food is not served on hot plates. We will give this a miss in future much nicer places to eat in Swindon.

Really really poor customer service, waited a long time to even be acknowledged when we arrived, starters took 45 minutes to arrive and had to be chased, half the food was dry and over cooked. Staff appeared to have ‘favourite’ customers as multiple tables who arrived after us got their food before us, particularly tables where the staff were then socialising with the people too. Would not recommend!

Went to this restaurant when they where at their old location on arrival was sorry to see it had all gone after a quick google glad to see they had relocated and went Sunday lunch time the food and service we very good very polite and friendly staff only thing that I didn’t 5star this place was the wine 2nd bottle ordered was at room temperature I did request for it to be out in the freezer for a while If they changed it for a cold bottle at that point they’d of got full marks ! Well worth a visit and a very good reason to visit Swindon

Please do not be fooled when it comes to this place, we ordered a delivery and have not had issues with them before now but this time was very different, we ordered there famous munch box with some added extras our bill came to £39 and I would have been better off getting a McDonald’s. The food arrived late that wasn’t too much of an issue for us but all the food was cold and dry. We had been moving into our new home all day so by the time the food arrived we just wanted to eat and sleep. I contacted the next day via email and never received a response then contacted on there Facebook messenger and again they read the message and never responded I have again contacted the restaurant and advised that due to the poor service we have revised I would like my money back but again they have ignored request I will now be contacting trading standards as it seems this company is only out to get money and not care about there customers. I WOULD ADVISE USING A DIFFERENT CHINESE TAKEAWAY SERVICE!

Booked a table before heading to the theatre. Service was terrible. Waited soooo long for the duck that we didn’t have time to eat mains. Food wasn’t very hot. Always had to chase when we wanted something. No staff member even seemed to care never mind bothering to serve us. They were quite rude!

We visited the Friday before Christmas, the restaurant was busy enough. The staff was welcoming, starters arrived quickly, but the main course took forever to come. We had a sweet and sour chicken but it arrived with no sweet and sour sauce, we had to ask for it. And the noodles just tasted of soy, no other flavour. The high chair was so filthy, I have yet to touch another high chair in another restaurant as horribly sticky as that one. Really gross, I didn’t want my toddler to sit in it. Prices are expensive for what is essentially very basic Chinese food. It’s not like you’re even paying for the dining out experience because the decor is really old, think 80s red and gold Chinese restaurant decor come multi coloured lights church hall disco. Staff was friendly enough, that’s their only saving grace.

We had a takeaway last night and it was awful!! We visit the restaurant regularly and the food is amazing! Crispy fried pancakes tasted as they had cheese in them disgusting inedible ! Chilly beef tasted of vinegar inedible! Dried up noodles , old salad with duck pancakes and very little duck ! Curry had a whole chilli in it ! We won’t be ordering take out again ! The cost was nearly a £100 plus £3 postage for inedible food . Absolutely shocked and disappointed!!!!

We had a delivery from the town center Rendezvous swindon on 30th/12/2020. The food arrived very quickly, hot, and there was plenty! We would recommend.

I ordered take out after having ate in the restaurant twice and having no issues. Sadly takeout the opposite.The prices have increased a fair amount recently this wouldn’t be an issue if the food quality had increased or stayed the same but vastly decreased.Take out came with crushed cold food. Congealed food and rice with some mystery yellow sauce over half the rice. It was a soggy singular lump.Its real worry when a restaurant can’t cook rice correctly.Sadly this would be the least of my concerns.Having ordered vegetarian food I ate my vegetarian won tons the texture was different from last time but assumed maybe a change in recipe. To my horror after eating two won tons which were a mush so assumed they what I ordered. I pulled out half a prawn. Ribs were all gristle dog won’t eat them, beef in black been sauce was tasteless, the prawn crackers were crunchy not melt in the mouth. Sweet and sour sauce was solid. Don’t use the delivery option from swindon threaten street food is terrible. Never again!!

We ordered a takeaway worth £50 and when it arrived it was cold, the food had a funny taste. Not to mention the driver opened our front door twice before I opened it. I wouldn’t pay anything for this meal it was awful and waste of money! Never again!!

Ordered the new munch box, it was delivered pretty quick but not great, though it seems like a bargain for £22.95 by the time they add service and delivery charge its more like £30. Food was not hot and all quite soggy. Rice and noodles were good but other than that Poor quality and didn't seem fresh, shame because the restaurant is always so good. Ordered the rendezvous new munch box takeaway which i must admit was a little dubious about doing as read some poor reviews already however we have never had a bad meal when visiting the restaurant on many occasions . We also the 1/4 crispy duck on top so with delivery charge £2 total came to £32 so not cheap but was looking forward to having it delivered. The guy in the restaurant did say takea6would be anything up to 2 hrs wait as busy but to be fair the meal came within 90 mins. When it arrived box was delivered to front door no problem however that's when the delight stopped. Almost everything in the box was either cold or like congealed jelly the only item which tasted like it should was the sea weed the ribs had little or no meat on them what so ever the salt/pepper covered chips were cold and tasteless the shredded chicken were like cold bullet shells so overall not happy. I did try calling the restaurant several times si ce but not been able to get through. I'm not o e to complain or try to get so.ethong for nothing but guys this was way way below your usual standard and I wont be using this takeaway service again especially on a Saturday night. I do appreciate Covid restrictions etc however poor meals mean poor reviews and reputation will soon go down hill if you carry on serving food at this very poor standard. Hope it improves for the sake of your clientele quickly so my recommendation would be leave the new munch box along e and order usual dishes and not on a weekend. Hope to hear back

Swindon Rendezvous provided me and my family with an excellent, friendly and safe experience in the heart of Swindon town. During the COVID-19 pandemic, all of us said that it was the most secure and safe place we had been to in this time. The kind waiter takes your temperature with a simple scanner, and all of the tables are protected with plastic screens. The food at this restaurant was excellent; really, there were no complaints. In the middle of the table is a spinning plate for all of your food, so you can share with your friends and family. Overall, Swindon Rendezvous is a clean and sophisticated venue to enjoy Asian cuisine. I highly recommend this!

Food brilliant cant argue but we had 1 bad takeaway and we phoned up and the gentleman on phone said he would give us £12 credit on next order just tried ordering and nothing on system shame as wont be using these again as have enjoyed the food in the past get your system sorted

We had an amazing meal.When we arrived we did track and trace and had our temperatures taken before we entered there are screens around tables for your safety. The meal was amazing they were very attentive.While eating our meal the table beside us left the cleaned everything down thoroughly (which puts me at ease)i was very impressed the everything and have booked for my birthday.

Visited at the weekend for my 30th usually we love it here and it’s my favourite restaurant hence picking for my special day, food was lovely the disappointing side is that there wasn’t enough! Starters were the same size as we would of had if a couple went. Toilets are grimey but clean need ripping out and re doing. Won’t be back for a while.

The wings tasted plain, no salt and pepper at all. Our first meal out since lockdown. Sensible precautions in place to screen diners before entry. Taking temperatures and ensuring track and trace forms completed. Some seating now outside so make sure you request inside if that is important. Some screening between tables but unobtrusive and didn't detract from the meal. Service was very quick and food up to the same standard it has always been. The restaurant is adding 10% optional covid charge to help sustain their business which was added after the eat out to help out deduction. I thought that was reasonable. No tip was requested when being billed. No pudding menu but we just went across the road to Kaspa's. All in all great value with the government discount and will still be a good meal out when the offer ends.

Had a lovely meal here last night, they were really on the ball with Covid regulations . Checked your temperature on the way in & tracking paperwork filled out. Inside social distancing was excellent.The food was spot on , big portions and very tasty, we had the early bird offer which was good value. Would definitely recommend.

Sadly everything we ordered , with the exception of the honey butter chicken, was shockingly dry and tasteless , possibly the worst Chinese I have ever had.

Meal arrived exactly on time and was oven hot. Meals for four of us was very tasty and the portions were more than generous. A vast improvement from my last review in 2018.

If you like double dipped food, terrible customer service and missing parts of your order this is the place to go. Has put me off Chinese food for quite a long time🤢

Despite having both my own and my partner's mobile numbers on TPS, keep getting texts from this place. When you respond to the text it's chargeable. Will report then to TPS as they are breaking the law.

Can't actually review the food as I tried ordering a takeaway on 1st May and was promised a call back in 5 minutes to take my order but never received it so had to go elsewhere as phone was then engaged all evening.

In a nutshell edible but that's about it.We ordered a take away.The delivery was quick but there attempt of a hot and sour soup was very poor.Totally tasteless and resembled vegetables and chicken with a stock cube boiled in water.thai beef red curry just tasted of lightly flavoured milk.Bland no depth of flavour. just an all round poor quality meal.I gave a 2 instead of 1 as the delivery was quick but i can now understand why

Used to be my favourite restaurant in Swindon. But the huge price increases aren’t justified by the declining quality of the food. Such a shame

My sister-in-law and her husband love Chinese food and think this restaurant’s ‘all you can eat’ meals are wonderful. After going there for her birthday celebration, I’m afraid I can’t agree. Certainly there was a lot of food, but I wasn’t impressed by the quality, with meat in particular being tough and chewy. The restaurant was packed and extremely noisy, making conversation difficult.

It was six of us who booked the table, including 2 kids. We knew food is going to be nice as we are used to ordering from Abbey Meads take away and that never disappoints. We were expecting same standards of food and service to match. We were really REALLY DISAPPOINTED! We all went for 'All you can eat menu' with unlimited top ups as they advertise it. We have ordered our starters and asked if we shall order mains ahead so we won't have to wait long for those to be delivered to the we were reassured it's not gonna take longer than 5 mins for another dishes to arrive. We decided to order the mains after we finish starters. Starters arrived pretty quickly, well most of them as we had to wait for another 10mins or so for duck our friends have ordered. By that time rest of the starters were cold. Food was super tasty! Soon we have finished our starters we ordered mains that we were waiting for good half an hour if not longer. Soon as the dishes arrived we were given not longer than 20 mins before waiter turned up and ask if we have finished as she's ready to clean up. We were all in shock especially that some of the dishes we have ordered haven't even been touched! By that time we have just lost the will to stay and have anything more to eat. We could tell they just want us out as quick as they can as there was many people waiting in waiting area. Waiter who started clean plates up managed to spill sauces all over the table on the site where our daughter was sitting and didn't bother to tidy it up. We have never been offered to order more dishes (*all you can eat menu chosen!), and because of that it turned out we spent more per person as if we would be paying for each and individual dish. Amount of time we were waiting for food was definitely multiple time longer than we actually spent having food on the table. Personally I ended up having 4 prawns for starter and 2 full spoons of rice with some vegetables for main before all got taken away. SHOCKING! We will not be coming back and what's more we will not be recommending this place, in fact I'd tell - Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! And to the business owners - yes, your food may be amazing, I admit that, but if you are not nailing service - people will not be coming back.

Really disappointed with the take away food. The chilli beef was disgusting tough,soggy and we didnt eat it it was that bad. The noodles were dry and tasteless. Portion sizes were particularly small and none of the food was anything special. Will not be eating here again

Great tasting food as always here, service was better than usual, my only complaint is the cleanliness of the toilets, feet sticking to the floor and generally pretty disgusting to be honest

We had a wonderful evening sat around a lovely round table for eight in the corner. The food was amazing and plentiful. Excellent service all round. Hadn’t been for many years but will definitely revisit soon!

Had dinner with a big group (15) of our family and even though the restaurant was packed, we were served quickly, the food was well cooked and tasty and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Massive selection and great quality, excellent value for money as well.

Friends birthday meal for 7. Arrived 15 minutes early and seated quickly, ordered Some beers and spirits with mixers, one had only coke but was charged for spirit, starters arrived ok but when clearing table food was spilt all over one guests trousers another was continually stepped on, waited over half hour to order mains only to be told after long wait that we had ordered too much ! All you can eat menu...I don’t think so, we weren’t even given the choice when we questioned why, we were told to leave in no uncertain terms, the manager even screwed up our order and threw it on the floor and started shouting at us. Will definitely not be going back.

Disappointing service - we were the only people having lunch in the restaurant yet the waitress clearly wanted us to go as soon as possible. She became very abrupt with us when we asked for desserts - it was obvious she didn’t want us around. The food was fine but I wouldn’t go back.

Very modern Asian interior and Delicious food. Thank you Wesky and Kamil for Looking after us. You will definitely see me again soon.

This is the best Chinese in Swindon although the reason for this is lack of competition. There is nowhere else to go.

Three of us had a late night meal here on Saturday. About an hours wait for the table. Was worth it as the food was very nice. Restaurant was packed. The price advertised outside of 16.99 was a bit misleading as that was the Monday - Thursday night before 7pm. He were on a Saturday at 9pm and the price had risen to £22.50. nevertheless the food was good only spoiled by a table of four teenagers next to us sniffing cocaine in the toilet and then keep rubbing their noses while we were eating.

Since they have reopened the branch at Theatre Square they have resumed the service and high quality food the we have come to expect during the 30 something years we have dined there.

Was looking forward to having a meal with my girlfriend we rang to book a table turned up and to be told there’s was no name on the list we sat down after 20 minutes wait we ordered prawns as a starter then king prawns as a main course with fried rice We had to ask for more rice as only one portion came out the taste was very bland we didn’t even finish our meal I asked for the bill as I was putting my PIN number in the waiter was watching me my girlfriend had to push my arm away as I was typing the numbers
