A complete rip off paid for three adults because one grandchild is tall for his age not a problem!!! The food was sparce not a very good selection didn't get offered a drink had to go looking for someone to take the order after finished main course headed for the deserts absolute disgrace, Dolly mixtured chocolate buttons,a quarter filled minute cup of jelly fresh fruit and sultanas a Swiss roll the bill was just shy of £80 ,after getting scored a very low hygiene rating and getting there act together thought we would go back .I expect a lot better

We have been going to this restaurant over 20 years. This is the best value Chinese 🇨🇳 restaurant around Swindon. Please take some of the negative comments on pinch 🤏 of salt. You have to go and experience yourself. Staff are friendly and you will enjoy the foods.❤️❤️❤️

Good value for money , always get there as it opens eat as much or little as you like and good place to try new flavours

Do not go if you have ANY food allergies or intolerances as they do not cater for it. All foods including rice state gluten, hence no gluten free. The one star review is purely based on this and not the food quality etc, as my son loves the food here. Disappointed as previously they had GF dishes available.

This place needs to smarten up. Floors very sticky - are the kitchen floors the same!! Tired upholstery. Food just warm and not fresh. Not a good experience. Won't be returning.

Really enjoyable visit. Clean facilities and spoilt for choice for sweet and savoury food. All cooked food served hot. All delicious and fantastic value for money

Food was good, a little pricey to go on a weekend but much better prices for lunch or weekday. Chairs could do with a refresh as a lot of them are starting to wear out. This isn't the first time I've been there and it won't be the last. I always enjoy this place when I fancy it. Missed the lemon chicken today though :(

We Just got over food poisoning after eating at this place after being told by mates to avoid this place. I should have listened and am paying for not doing so. Just seen the food hygiene rating for this place and not surprised, it should be a 0/5 not 3/5. Never again... Ever

On this occasion, we were disappointed with our visit. We dropped in for a late...ish lunch, plates were cold, food on the servery was cold. Being a Sunday we were anticipating it being busy, however it wasn't. Additionally, their prices were, much higher per person, vompaired to other days of the week, and the food is exactly the same!!!! When we left we inquired as to why the good was tepid and not hot like we experienced on previous occasions. Were advised to take from the bottom of the dish if we wanted hot food, being a buffet they were not obliged to maintain hot food, as long as they maintained 60°, according to food hygiene standards. Will probably visit again in the future, but will not be rushing back. If you are intending to visit, go with an open mind, but don't expect a 'Wow' factor, it's a place where you get something that is perceived as chinese/cantonese but tailored for the english pallet.

Worst Customer service experience ever from a chinese takeaway - AVOID at all costs. This is what happens when you order takeaway from a Buffet restaurant - you get the left overs- Health and safety inspectors should pay this place a visit. I have just made an order giving in clear instructions in writing and via a call to confirm the notes i had made for my dish order. Not only was this confirmed in 2 ways but the call taker clearly could not be asked to get the order right. I have been a customer for over 8 years and have seen the decline in service and standards at this place. I even called up to ask how come they still managed to get the order wrong and the guy couldn't be asked to admit what had happened, he actually played dumb like he did not know what i was talking about, such level of incompetence. Why would i ask for a dish with ingredients I told you I cannot consume and you now lie to say i said it would be Ok? Would someone with peanut allergy ask for a dish with peanuts in it, and then confirm on a call to say that it would be OK to add peanuts? Seriously. The guy even said it was ok I can order from somewhere else, and had the audacity to say it wasn't his fault, let alone accept he could not be asked to get the order right. That just goes to show the lack of job satisfaction whoever that guy is because his customer service skills are non existent and does not sound like he wants to be there, shocking absolutely. I will not be using this Chinese take away again nor will I be visiting the buffet with anyone i know after this and will not recommend this place to anyone, the standards are absolutely terrible now. A Previous order had even been served with old or bad meat in the Pancake roll, and advise everyone to be careful ordering from here. When this guy said they cannot make the dish in the way I requested which i know they do as this is how i had always had it in the past, the guy said they cannot make it that way, which is quite obvious they are just taking the food already made from the Buffet side of the restaurant and just serving that to take away customers. Anyway it was nice while it lasted, you are right i will go take my business elsewhere where they value their customers and actually COOK the take away food made fresh to order.

We have been very loyal over the years and so many zero rattings but we go back. Last month we went for my birthday. We both felt so unwell and embrassed to admit such a belly ache. It spoiled my birthday as my wife and myself were unwell.

Gorgeous place, with great service and even more delicious food. The restaurant has views of a lake and a green area that's perfect to walk the food off after enjoying the buffet. Parking is free and there's plenty of space. All and all, a perfect spot to stop for a proper, delicious meal.

Good place to stuff your face with a wide selection. Desserts are a little lacking and could be improved with a soft serve ice cream. Overall, it was a good place to fill up cheaply.

They are rude and I thought an adult was 18 not 14 wat overpriced for what you get hardly any choices really gone doen hill going to try the one in town I also asked for small cokes they came back with large so they get more money hardly got a thankyou after paying the bill.

I like the way the area is kept clean. As soon as you arrive, you are greeted by a nice colourful entrance. The seating area was very comfortable. The food was absolutely delicious.

Food standard seems to have gone downhill since I was last in. Most of it was lukewarm, not particularly tasty and not a huge selection. i.e. Sushi was chicken, veg, or crabstick, not a fresh fish in sight. Service was good as usual, but it wasn't too busy. £45 for 2, with a soda water each. The Eton mess almost saved it, but there was hardly any meringue in it.

I wouldn’t even give this place 1 star , worst buffet ever. Bland food , flavpurless , cold , sticky dirty floor , fingerprints and dirt everywhere, dead flies in the menu holders and thick dust , dirty windows , and also found out after our visit that it has a 0 star food hygeine rating !! Shocking ! Needs to be shut down . Feeling sick after our visit . Even my 7 year old daughter complained about the chips which isnt hard to get chips right !!! Stay away !!!!

Big selection of food, You can have a nice starters , main course and desserts . The best buffet restaurant in Swindon. We have being going to this restaurant for over 20 years . The staff are really friendly

After eating here (twice) we felt so dry and thirsty, food is far too salty or too much msg added, now I read in local press it got a zero rating on a hygiene inspection, big Improvement needed all round , sweetcorn soup is watery

You can experience a wide variety of Chinese cuisine and delicious desserts 🍨. The quality of the meat 🍖 was 💯 They don’t offer pork dishes which is a pity . Overall it’s a great experience for 18£ pp and eat all you can in one go 😃

A much nicer atmosphere than the other Buffett in town and much more convenient for parking as well. We were overcharged which we didn’t realise until we got back, my girl is less than a metre and was charged a higher rate. The range of food is smaller than others but the food is good and the staff friendly. The place could do with a lick of paint and the toilets could have been cleaner but I’ve seen far worse

What a fantastic place, the quality and amount of different foods was fantastic. Although it was very busy on the Thursday during the school holiday, there was no waiting for food.It is an all you can eat buffet. It was a shame some people abused it.

Age discrimination at its highest. My 20 year old daughter took her sisters here for lunch and was made to pay before they could eat unlike the rest of the customers who were able to pay after their meals because " they were likely to run off without paying. Absolutely disgusting attitude towards paying customers.

Today was my second and last visit here! We booked a table for two and were seated immediately when we arrived. Having a look through the drinks menus on the table I couldn’t help but notice the menus hadn’t been cleaned in weeks, very sticky and food/drink residue all over them - not very nice especially when the place seemed very quiet to begin with when we were seated! My partner ordered a jug/bottle of water for the table with ice and the glasses that came out with it were filthy! I had a couple of small plates as today’s choice was very limited and then I decided to go to the grill for some chicken. The “chef” cooked it and placed it on my plate. Once back to the table I cut into it to find it was raw in the middle! Not pink or a tad undercooked, FULLY raw! I went back to the grill and showed the chef he took the plate off of me and proceeded to cook it on the grill for longer, then handed me the same plate back! I said no thank you, you can keep that it’s had raw meat on it! Due to this I ended up refusing the chicken back the second time as he clearly doesn’t know what he is doing when it comes to raw chicken, I said forget it I no longer want the chicken at all. I waited until then end to mention to a manager out of courtesy and respect, (I had a couple of deserts which were all bland and tasteless) then proceeded to the bar near the entrance to pay. I asked to see the manager before I paid to explain my experience especially with the chicken on the grill and the “chef”. The manager/owner (I assume) was very attitude driven when speaking to me about the issue, cutting me off mid sentence, telling me I was wrong for not mentioning it to him (infront of everyone which is why I waited until the end as I didn’t want to cause a scene) and wasn’t apologetic at all, I didn’t receive a single apology from the chef or the manager. He barely let me speak, I was going to state I was unhappy to pay the full amount due to the experience I had but he didn’t let me get that far, he instantly put the attitude on and stated how he won’t be giving me a full refund (that I didn’t ask for in the first place as he wouldn’t let me speak) And said he will knock half of the bill off (for two people) as it happened to me not my partner mine will be free, which I stated was absolutely fine that’s the only reason I mentioned it as I wasn’t happy paying full price for a very bad experience, I said thank you to the manager and he glared at me and walked away. No, “sorry for your experience, hope you have a better time next time” just a glare… I remained polite and respectful through the conversation and couldn’t help but feel he did not! I will never eat here again! I normally go to jr global bufet (aka cosmos) I have been there a good 15 - 20 times and haven’t got a bad word to say about them! The only reason for trying HongXin was to change it up a bit and try something different… never again cosmos every time now! I can get over the un cooked food things happen but the attitude I received from the manager without an apology done it for me!

In all of my 60 years on planet earth. I have never enjoyed a meal as much as I did tonight at Hongxin in Swindon. The selection was extremely varied and every mouthful I had was a taste explosion in itself. My wife and I are expats living in Canada and we feel like we won the lottery visiting this fine establishment, as Chinese food in Canada is much less varied or anywhere as tasty as the food we ate tonight. Big shout out for the chefs, the staff and the spotless restaurant which we experienced tonight. If you are visiting Swindon and love Chinese food. Do your tatebuds a favour and visit Hongxin. And the price is just as good as the amazing food.

The gate and parking lot were nice and spacious. The good things end there. The food itself was disappointing. Sushi was tiny and had no fresh fish, or any fish at all unless you count the highly processed crabstick. 'Hot' buffet food was lukewarm. Not OK food-safety wise. I only tried a few dishes as many looked unappetising. Salt and pepper squid was tough. Whole prawns (something I usually like) had not been cleaned, alimentary canals full of dark gunge contaminating the meat. The only things I found reasonably edible were the Singapore vermicelli and the beef in black bean sauce (fair in taste but lukewarm). Crispy beef was spongy and more batter than meat. I didn't even try the pork as it looked too dry. I was hoping for a Thai curry but no such luck. Desserts were cheap, sugary stuff. £18 each for that type food is not justified. Staff were OK. Doing their jobs, but it's not a happy place. Big disappointment. I was too leary to try the fresh stir fry as the lukewarm 'hot' food was a sign that food safety wasnt top priority.

My absolute favourite place on the planet!! The staff and atmosphere are fabulous for any occasion, but the food is just off the scale!! They do some fine egg noodles and broccoli in garlic sauce that usually takes up most room with me. But I love that you can be brave and try just a little bite of new dishes and help find a new favourite. Last time I visited, I tried the takeaway version. This is definitely the best value takeaway anywhere, as you aren't tied to having a whole tub filled with one dish. I shall definitely be doing this again.

Went there for Mother's Day. What a let down! After making a confirmed reservation, there was lots of confusion over how long we could stay and the time of our booking. Not a positive welcome. Food - little choice, most of it cold. Will NOT be going back again.

Went on a Saturday eve around 6pm. BIG MISTAKE!!! It was heaving....people pushing & shoving to get to the food before it ran out. CRAZY PLACE....If you go here go mid week its better. We paid £22 per head. It was our worst experiance of an all you can eat buffet restaurent due to the lack of dishes as the chefs could not keep up with the influx of people. No nice king prawn dishes except a watery pink liquid looking soup with green bits floating in it that looked like something the dog threw up YUK!!! The chicken was very dry Sesame prawn in toast were also over cooked Lots of empty tins not being refilled.... very restricted on what dishes you could have... No bbq spare ribs No Egg fried rice No plain chow mein? These are the 3 main dishes that should be on! It seems to me that the owners just want to cram as many people in as posible so to get as much money as posible but they are unable to provide any decent food to cater for that amount of people....for £22 per head we expected better & a good choice. We found it a complete rip off & not a very nice experience. Very solum unhappy looking staff, trained to whip away your plate on your last mouthfull!!!!

Went to Hongxin on 04/03/24 for my grandsons birthday meal at 5pm, my first impressions were disgusting. I found the staff very rude and when asked about the food they were not very informative and had the attitude "is food what else do you want to know". As for the food its self it was Lukewarm and undercooked. I can only imagine the food was leftover from dinner time and reheated for the evening diners. During the meal the staff were clearing the tables far too often attempting to take away plates before we had finished finished eating the food. The only best part was the deserts, having said that it not that hard to cut some bananas and tip some cold custard over it. On paying the bill we asked for the free meal as it was my grandsons birthday but they wanted proof of his birthday and only a passport would suffice! We also had a problem with the bill as they wanted to charge us for drinks we did not have, we informed them we did not have all these drinks but the girl on the till began to get rude and would not take our word for it. We had no choice but to pay needless to say we will not go back there are many oriental restaurants in Swindon serving more superior food, much friendlier staff and better value for money.

Great lighting especially the ceiling installation for the lights very well done to the designers gives me a sense of history and cool times

Food is standard buffet food. Nothing to shout about but not bad either. Major problem was that they tried to charge for my 1 year old son when he literally had a chip. When I brought it to the attention of the person behind the counter, they was quite rude in their response.

i went with my family last night and really had a chinese experience. my grandaughter had to have her height measured to let them know should she eat as a child for £12.50 or adult £18.95. we explained that she does not eat very much but they would not listen and was told to stand to one side and think about it. i found this to be horrendous and intimidating and being treated like dirt onthe bottom of their shoe. we did go in evenually we were treated horrible and no one wanted to come near our table. the food was not very nice and at one point i put sweet and sour chicken, beef with mushrooms and beef chow mein. the sweet and sour chicken was soggy and tasted of nothing as did the beef and mushrooms and also the chow mein. i would not recommend this place to eat and will never set foot back in there. i know alot of people locally and will let everyone i speak to not to eat there. they are rude and abnoxious

Charge a tall child adult prices even tho they barely eat, no signs on any puddings to let anyone with allergies no what they can/can’t eat Rude staff that argue with you because you want tap water not bottled water that costs the earth Will not be returning

We will not be returning to this place for a meal. It was pretty awfull... Its just a money making run down shack... This is only the second time my wife and I have been to this restaurant, and this time we had taken our granddaughter and her partner to share the experience. This time as before the staff were friendly, helpful and very polite. As each of our courses were finished and we went for a refill, the table was cleared and cleaned and made ready for us to return with our next course. All our drinks were also brought to our table. Such a great selection of cooked foods, Chinese, Thai and English, you can also pick raw ingredients and watch while it's cooked also sushi is available. As I said before it's only our second visit it will definitely not be our last. 10 out of 10 for this restaurant.

I usually rate this restaurant but after today highly doubtful i will be going back. Everything i tried i couldnt finish. The noodles were bland, duck incredibly fatty like it hadn't been cooked properly, chicken in some dishes very tough, especially the battered chicken. Even the prawn toast, over cooked. Crispy shredded beef wasnt crispy, poppadoms tasted stale. The chicken curry didnt even look like chicken curry, it looked like a concoction of oil and pinkish off looking sauce. We asked if they had changed the chef because honestly none of the food was worth eating. We didnt even bother with the deserts. Very disappointing. All of our plates were left on our table, my partner had to go up and ask for a drink. Im just praying we are not ill from the food we did try.

Was fine, good quick service, variety of food excellent, was very busy & good to see it was. Only criticism, staff a bit too quick to take plates away as soon as you've finished eating, I get it could be because they want to get plates washed and dried for re-use, but still, a little acknowledgement of the customers experience would be appreciated. Overall, a good experience.

Where do I begin, the outside looks so run down and tatty. Walked in and it’s dark and dingy, glasses on the table were filthy, water jugs had seen better days. Food was greasy. Staff were rude, run out of dishes, but were told we had to wait, the food never materialised. The desserts were hard, or watery. And then they tried to charge an adults price for my 11 year old who is tall for her age. Definitely will not be returning, such a disappointing experience, and disgusted to pay £60 for such poor food and standards.

Best buffet I've been to in a while, good variety of food to choose from, as we visited after 2030 it was only £14.95 PH. Great value

Cool experience for the kids. Loved how it looked like a real Chinese building. I was impressed with the cleanliness, especially the toilets. The mains were really nice. Puddings were not great. Very basic ice cream, sweets, brownies and flapjacks were not very nice. Reasonably prices though so can't complain. £13 per adult, £9 for kids for lunch. Meal for 4 = £50 with drinks. Staff were helpful and didn't mind my kids opening their toys at the table and being a bit noisy. I would go again. Duck and choc fountain is evenings only. Update... we visited again with a big group and it was still awesome!

Visited here yesterday not much selection for lunch including crispy duck I wished I went to my usual in theTown centre much better for value.

We visited this buffet restaurant while staying in Swindon. We were only in town for one night and this seemed like an easy dinner option. When we arrived it was after 8pm and dinner is slightly discounted after this time. So for 2 dinners and 2 large drinks it only cost us £36. Certainly good value. There was a great selection, duck pancakes, satay chicken, chicken balls, spring rolls, crispy beef, pork dumplings, ribs, chicken curry, noodles… everything you would expect. We enjoyed it all and everything was still being replenished and was nice and fresh. Nothing ran out. The staff were all very helpful and polite. If we were local we would visit again, maybe next time we are in the area!

If I want to go to great Chinese eatery, this is my favourite & I will travel the 40 minutes to get to it.
