Swim in West Dorset

Been 3 times in past week, Had breakfast on one visit, lunch on another and finally a visit for evening meal. All excellent

Beach is open for dogs so I have returned to Lyme, what a great breakfast and service. Even offering dogs drinks delivered to the table

Pretty disappointed. Decided to stop by for a bit of breakfast. I have a stomach bypass so I can't eat too much otherwise I feel sick. I asked for just a kids portion of scrambled egg on toast and was told that they don't do that, they only do an adults portion. I said it was due to a dietary requirement which meant I couldn't eat very much in one go so I asked how many bits of bread the portion usually comes with (bread being the main problem). I was told 2 so I just asked for one bit of toast with some egg which was on the sides option. This should've cost about £4.25. The adults portion is a whopping £10 and I really didn't want to spend that much on two bits of toast with some egg, most of which I couldn't eat. So the food arrived and it was the normal £10 portion of food - absolutely no acknowledgment of this and the server rushed away after dropping it off. The bread wasn't even buttered and the egg didn't even cover the second bit of toast which would've been a problem if I could eat normal portions. It's a bit of a rip off this place. I didn't need all that bread and I took up the same amount of table space as a child would. I don't see why the restaurants have an issue with this. I could've just ordered a coffee and sat there whilst watching my partner eat her food but I decided to give them more business by asking for a smaller portion. If I had known that it would be a full portion, I would've just decided to stick to a coffee and eat somewhere else. No mention was made of the order being the normal portion and the server didn't ask us how everything was when we paid up. All in all very disappointed and I feel scammed. I am only adding in extra point because of the server chap was polite and made enquiries on my behalf to the management. It's a shame as being a local I frequented Swim a lot before my op however, I don't think I will be going back due to their greed unless things change.

Super friendly service and great food. The (veggie) mushroom burger was outstanding and my wife really enjoyed her crab sandwich. Not the cheapest but good quality costs.

Friendly and efficient staff. Excellent for gluten-free options, nearly everything they do is GF. Fish stew, Kerala curry and the burger all generous and tasty, washed done with an excellent dry cider and a sunset

Was nice atmosphere but let down by the food quality for the and price. Had steak sandwich which was tough and also very bland. My wife had the lemon chicken which she really enjoyed. Overall ok and understand the prices are probably inflated due to the area.

Amazed. 2 vegans, 1 vegetarian and 1 carnivore. Everyone extremely happy with their food. A lot of vegan choices on the menu, spoilt for choice. Thank you for giving us decent home cooked vegan food at the seaside!

Swim had been recommended to me by a work colleague but unfortunately on the evening we visited (a Tuesday in November) it did not deliver on atmosphere, service or food. Everything was just average. I had the Courgette Fritters to start which were more like croquets and very bland, my daughter had the Calamari which again was bland. For mains I had the Fish Pie which was delicious but didn’t contain a single prawn and my daughter’s Ribs were very dry. Unfortunately I wouldn’t come back here or recommend it to anyone.

Well located with great views over the beach. We shared the gluten free calamari to start which was delicious. We then both ordered the gluten free fish & chips - the portion was huge, two pieces of fish. This was the best gluten free fish we've had, really crispy tasty batter - absolutely delicious. Service was quick and friendly. The restaurant is also dog friendly

Really enjoyed the breakfast but thought it was quite expensive. However, the view is worth the few extra pounds on special occasions. I live locally so have been to Swim quite a few times for drinks in the evening as well. The only thing that I don't like is that it is a card only/cashless business.

We went in today with our dog and welcomed. All the staff we encountered were friendly and very efficient. Very amenable. We both ordered different meals they were delicious. I would recommend going here for quality food and good service.

Sat outside watching the world go by on a Saturday morning. We loved our ‘farm’ breakfast , and the tea was wonderful. The staff were friendly and efficient. We will hopefully be back in the near future.

Good food in a warm and friendly atmosphere; served by friendly and efficient staff. Great menu, accompanying alcoholic and alcohol-free drinks, cocktails and hot beverages. Enjoyed breakfast and lunch there, too!

Back again after a few years. On our way to Padstow so had to stop for a few days to eat at our favourite places. They still do the very tender and non greasy chilli calamari. So good. We had a brilliant breakfast with their home beans! For dinner the Chowder was incredible ( advice - the starter - it’s a main meal portion if you have their fantastic bread with it so maybe share this chowder?) They only offer GF fish and chips. This is another reason we have come back here to eat. In my 59+ years I still haven’t had better.

SWIM has gluten free fryers! Thoroughly enjoyed GF fish and chips. Friendly and helpful staff. Great location on the seafront overlooking the cliffs further along the coast.

Server was offhand when we walked in, by mistake, through exit. Told us to walk to entrance. Same server still surly, took us from entrance to outdoor table, gave menus. After waiting c. 10 minutes to order, and in view of surly server, we left. There are better places nearby, with friendly servers.

Three stars is not regarding the quality of the food which was good but for the slightly disappointing menu, lack of specials, understaffed and absent minded service, locally caught fish which was apparently cod or haddock (!) in a seaside town, and the 15% premium on prices compared to other equally good restaurants nearby. The restaurant offers a trendy beach bar feel but without beach bar value. Unless you feel the need to be trendy, save a few quid and eat elsewhere!

We’ve been a few times over the summer and have found the food good. All of our meals were very good. Great fish & chips in particular. The food does seem expensive but it’s expensive everywhere and you don’t get the view that you do at Swim! The highlight for us on three occasions was the service from ‘Ben’ the waiter. He was a credit to Swim, he went above and beyond to make us and other diners feel very welcome and looked after. Overall a good lunch!

Two visits in 24 hours - a pint on Friday night, then Saturday lunch. Staff were terrific, wonderful atmosphere, great service. Their burgers are first rate. Order an extra patty for the cheeseburger and it’s tough to beat.
