Stopped over for a night in our motorhome as it's a pub stop over, nice and close to the ferry port. Food not as advertised, no home cooked traditional pub food, more like fast food... rough and ready! No real choice unless you like burgers etc. Only one other table eating, not surprising, lot of local young guys in drinking, loud and boisterous, so little intimidating. Right next to a road so lot of traffic noise through the night. Unfortunately not one I'll be stopping at again.

What a shambolic night watching the Thursday night England game, how did it all go so wrong since the last time the Euros were on? You would have thought that from seeing the amount of horrible failures made on the Sunday night game that cause half the of the pub to leave at half time would have encouraged the manager to make massive improvements. The complete lack of staff and organisation meant that peoples night had been ruined by something which was so simple to fix. Queues of over an hour to get a drink is frankly ridiculous which then blocks the views of others trying to watch the screen. The lack of organisation from whoever was in charge could have caused a serious injury with the decking collapsing due to poor preparation from them. The amount of money that they would have lost due people not getting served would have been crazy. Such a shame a big event like this turned out to be a massive disappointment.

Really poor experience watching the football here. Complete disregard for customers who wanted to watch the game. Queuing for over 40 minutes because they wanted to take £2 cash as entry fee, causing many to miss large portions of the game. Photo was from 15 minutes into the game, it wasn’t a capacity issue as they all eventually got in, a negligence issue. Once in, no initiative at all in terms of serving customers - why not set up a makeshift bar outside, or take more staff on. Took over 45 minutes to get a drink. Recommend you watch the big euros games elsewhere. Shame as it’s a nice big screen.

We arrived at Poole too early to check in at our hotel so stopped at The Sweet Home Inn. It was just after 11am opening so much too early to get a real feel for it. It is a large traditional pub and felt family run. Halloween decoration was underway. Food menu was interesting and inviting as was the pub, even though we were the only customers at such an early time. We must go in the evening sometime.

After visiting this pub for a few years. Today visited and was met with a very bad welcome. What was a dog friendly pub with great staff now is not welcoming and is run by a landlady who takes over a table for 6 people while paying customers stand. A friend of mine has recently moved near to this pub. At about 9pm on a Saturday night we decided we’d pop in and try it for a drink. The doors were open & there were people inside yet once we walked in we were told the pub had closed (what kind of pub closes at 9pm on a Saturday night?). So it was very unwelcoming and rude. We just wanted a nice drink. Seems decidedly dodgy as there were other people in the bar.

We visited this pub as a group to watch the football recently. It was nice sat in the sunshine drinking in the refurbished beer garden. We had table service for drinks and had noticed on more than one occasion that staff had took orders and payment but not delivered the drinks. While the staff did put their hands up to having done this, I would strongly recommend that you don't pay for anything you have not received. We thought that overall the prices for drink was a little more than we'd have expected and that shots were rather expensive too. I had heard people from various tables outside of our group complaining that an individual member of staff was very rude towards customers. Personally I felt there was one particular member of staff working very hard while several others were dragging their heels. Overall I think there is work to be done by the staff to keep the customers returning and that it was nice to see some life here as a pre covid visit had a different feel to it.

My friends and I had spent a lovely afternoon in the outdoor seating area until we tried to use the toilets. My friend is asthmatic and we were refused entry as she didnt bring her exemption certificate, but it was absolutely fine for the outdoor staff to go inside without a facemask, the rude blonde woman who is apparently sister of the owner wasnt wearing one either! This wouldve been fair enough if she wasnt trying to then cause a scene, when my friend then asked to borrow another friends mask she made a comment about how she clearly cant be that asthmatic if she’s putting the mask on and called her a slag!! Disgusting way to speak to someone. We then went back to the table and told the story to a friend when the ‘sister’ walker by and said ‘oh yeah youre still going on about it’. We very promptly gathered our belongings and left. Massive shame as the pub and atmosphere seems great but will not be returning with my money to a place run by a chav who speaks to customers in such a manner.

Four of us visited this pub last week to catch up. We had a bottle of Oyster Bay sauvignon blanc and two pints of lager which came to £26+. We decided to return this week and the same drinks order was £34+. We asked why the big difference and were told that the bottle of wine had gone up! What!? By £8!! There is no justification for this massive increase. Pure greed! We definitely will not be returning.

The audacity of someone to ask us to swap tables and share a table with someone we don’t know and eat our food else where is beyond me… even if the booking system wasn’t working why would you approach and ask someone that!! Slow service when we initially arrived and 30 minuets to order just drinks let along food… previously been a decent place for food on a Sunday but not today..

Although there is a disabled parking space outside, the roads to it are all closed. Nothing to do with the pub though. The wife and I struggled to get there. I come from Poole, but have never been inside this historic harbour inn. As soon as you walk in, you can visualise the history, the smuggling plots being made by sailors of old, those walls could tell some tales. I was greeted by Kerry, who seemed very pleasant. I was really pleased to see dimpled handles in the pint and also the half. I mentioned that these are few and far between, and in her own words "this is a proper pub", and I cannot disagree. Two vessels of Best were poured and we sat by a window. Also present was "the founder member of the Glee Club" ( sarcasm on my part? absolutely ! ) aka the bearded landlord, I presume, who scowled around looking generally miserable, with no conversation to his customers or staff. We enjoyed our drinks and left, part of me satisfied with our visit, but underwhelmed by Mr. Chuckles.

This is only the second time I've been in here.. The last time was before lockdown, when we ordered coffee which was luke-warm. We complained and was met with a very curt reply, " we aren't allowed to make it too hot. Health and Safety!" We said we'd like it warming up but they refused. We came back today, as it appeared to be under a new name "Coffee Society" We had to pay an extra 60p per cup for oat milk, and again it was Luke warm. Had to order a pot of boiling water to warm it up ( which made it really weak. ) £8.45 for 2 drinks!!! Looking up, there were cobwebs everywhere, and it wasn't very clean. Never again.

I've been a regular customer to hortons over the years, but today's service was so bad I won't be using them again. I get a 45 minute lunch break.. 15 minutes of that was spent waiting to order because they had a family of 5 place an order before me and clearly couldn't cope with a group order. After finally ordering, 5 minutes goes by before I'm told they can't do my food so I said no problem I'll just have the milkshake then that I had ordered... another 15 minutes goes by and I still don't have my milkshake. At this point I have 10minutes left of my lunch break, so I proceeded to walk out and and quickly ordered some food from premier bites opposite. I never did get my milkshake from hortons or able to get a refund as no one was attending the till even after I had ordered and collected a hot panini from Premier bites... Hortons has gone down hill ever since the kids took over. On the other hand I can recommend premier bites opposite. Lots of love the RJ lift engineer.
