Great food service was excellent hidden little gem in the centre of Hanley will definitely be paying another visit very soon

really enjoy our visit last week! olivia? who looked after us for our visited was really polite and patient when it came to us ordering, when the food arrived it looked incredible and tasted even better then we imagined! the atmosphere was really calm, this definitely won’t be our last visit!

Absolutely brilliant. Ola made us all feel welcome, making sure we had everything we needed. The food was delicious. Lovely array of sandwiches, savouries, fruit and vegetables. Delicious cakes and sweets. The room was tastefully decorated with balloons . We enjoyed mock tails and tea and coffee. We had the room downstairs, great size for twenty five people.

We were seated and greeted lovely and the food was good quality as well. Very clean place and especially love the lights 😊

Me and my family went to sweet last week, plenty of choice for the children and we were able to customise our dessert to how we liked. Lovely lights in the shop and staff were very friendly. We will be returning very soon. Thankyou x

We visited sweet Hanley on a Tuesday and the cookie doughs were amazing. Espicially with there 2 for 1 offer. Will definitely be returning to try other desserts on the menu!

Nice to try something different for a catch up with friends. It is a little expensive for cake depending on what you choose, as you could have a meal elsewhere!!

Had a fondue, it was amazing. Service by Chrissy was fab, really enjoyed ourselves! Will definitely be back

WOW!!! Were do I start... Honestly, this place use to be the best dessert place around. Amazing staff. Oh how the mighty has fallen. Went in today to treat my mate and we walk through the door and how the atmosphere has changed so much in such a small amount of time. Walked to the front and we were greeted with "There is a 20 minute wait on all food." We responded with that's fine we can wait. "Or you could come back closer to." What company tries to turn customers away at the door. Also, No music, TV's switched off. We still gave it a chance. Nobody took us to a table so we sat at the chairs at the front. While there was 2 clean tables that we could have used but no. 15 Minutes later, we were then seated. We were then handed our menus. After 10 minutes the table who came in after us and got seated straight away had there order taken before us and we were then sat for another 5 minutes until my friends had to go up and had to ask to have our order taken. She got the response of "oh has he not taken your order yet. I will send someone else over to take your order." Someone came to take our order and we asked what was the difference between 2 items that would easily have been mistaken as the menu is very vague on the 2. We asked the waiter and he responded with "I have no idea. This is my first shift." We completely understood as we have all been new so he went to go and check with his supervisor on shift. She was beyond RUDE!!! From the kitchen all we heard "ONE IS A CAKE AND ONE IS A CHEESECAKE. HOW HARD IS IT." Which was clearly aimed at us. We felt sorry for this new member of staff. We ordered anyway regardless off this. We ordered a "I lava you" and the "Rocher surprise" 15 Minutes later still no food or cutlery. So we pulled a member of a staff to the side and how long it was going to take. He came back and said that your order is being made now. Not 2 minutes later he came back and said that we do not have any of your items. We got 2 menus given to us. However, I know that when we walked in there was 2 Rocher surprise and 1 i lava you as i saw them in the counter so how has them all gone when there was only 5 tables including us which 3 already had food when we arrived. We then went to the front where there was a guy stood talking to the supervisor on shift in a gray jumper and tracksuit bottoms and trainers. If this is a member of staff why is he stood at the front where food is being made. Terrible. We asked if we could speak to how was in charge and she was like yes. I responded with so is that you and I got "YES!". I asked that why after 45 minutes are we only just been told that there is none of what we ordered. Our response was " Well I did tell him what we had and did not have but he is a trainee" WOW blaming the new person how low. Own up to it or at least apologize don't blame anyone else great leadership. "45 minutes its appalling really" I responded. I walked out after that I do not appreciate being talked down to by anyone and this is disrespectful. Get your act together and hire staff like staff you had a year ago as that was the best as you felt welcomed. Now this. If you want this company to be successful take a look at the staff.

We were out as a family and after a nice lunch my son wanted to get some cookie dough to take home. We ordered take out and it was served relatively quickly. Staff were friendly and welcoming. My gripe is with the food itself...my son's cookie dough seemed okay (he said he liked it anyway) but the cake slices my partner and I had were below par. I ordered a slice of carrot cake and my partner had a slice of some sort of chocolate cake. The guy who served us asked if we wanted ice cream or cream with the slices but we said we were taking them home so we didn't wish to have either. He mentioned nothing about any strawberries/syrup being served with it, otherwise this would've been declined as well due to a food intolerance to them. Got home, ice cream or cream was added to the boxes and there were ice cream pots inside the boxes which had melted. I would not usually expect strawberries and some sort of strawberry syrup to accompany carrot cake. I had to slice off some of my cake where the strawberry liquid had seeped in. We cut away the soaked parts and tried to enjoy what was left. Due to the expense, I felt obliged to eat some of it and not waste it. The remaining peice of my cake and my partner's tasted quite stale and we ended up binning them. I've never had my stomach turn over so much as with that cake and because we had returned home before opening the boxes to check them, I could not got back to ask for replacements. I don't usually like to complain, but this place seems like an 'all fur coat and no knickers' job. I'd only like to ask that the staff make customers aware that strawberry/fruit sides are added to desserts because if someone had an allergy, they could be put at risk health wise or be just as annoyed as I was for spending so much money on something inedible.

Presentation was lovely. Coffee delicious. Vegan/gluten free chocolate coconut torte was rich and very yummy. Service was smooth and very friendly. Variety is brilliant. Must bring our 11 year old daughter here! She’ll love it. Thanks to the lovely staff.

Visited last night dispite the bad experience last time and was even worse this time. Music was too loud we couldn't here each other talk. Two girls chatting loud enough for us to here how she had quit and talking about someone she didn't like there. Long wait on food and very disappointing overall

I came in the other day with my family, we were presented with a smile from a Asian lady(with a scarf on) she made sure we were happy with the seating area and placed the menu in front of us, told us how long she’d be around to us to take the order, the atmosphere is lovely and my kids really enjoyed it. We were then asked if we needed anything else etc, the dessert presentation was spot on and the staff were lovely! At the end the same lady that had seated us down had taken our payment, brought it over to us asked if we needed anything else! And gave us a loyalty card! This girl has been lovely and made our sweet experience very much remembered! Thank you will be visiting again❤️ Hope she will read this! Even my kids loved her and the dessert

Totally disappointed. We ordered food and a drink and then waited just like normal. My dessert (waffle) came out first, then the drink afterwards which is just unheard off really, and then 5 minutes of me waiting to eat my dessert as I was waiting for my friends to arrive, they only just decide to tell us that they don’t have any of the desert that my friend had ordered. So my friend was then expected to know what was on the menu to choose a different dessert, so we asked for another menu and then the waitress was standing there, huffing as if she was fed up of waiting. Then my friend had waited another 15 minutes for this dessert to arrive meaning my food had come out a good 20 minutes before my friends.

I went yesterday early afternoon with my young daughter and son before leaving for Hanley pride. The shop was clean and the staff welcoming, brought crayons, a children’s menu and high chair for my son. My food was delicious and my daughter enjoyed it more than I did!:)

Called in on Saturday afternoon with my daughter as a treat. Lady staff member seemed unfriendly and unwelcoming - no hiya nothing just “ seat for 2?” It was very quiet in there asked for a cookie dough for my daughter and asked for a small hot chocolate for her (child size). Staff member said she didn’t think they did child’s hot chocolate(?!?) I asked if she’d check cane back with a mug - just normal size and said it this ok. I just agreed. My coffee arrived - just a flat white I’d ordered just tasted like overly milky weak coffee - not good. My daughters cookie dough arrive 30 mins after my coffee and her hot chocolate never arrived. It all looked the part from the exterior however it lacked substance, atmosphere and the front of house staff lacked any people skills - awful!! Will not be going again ! :(

The food was great. I found the staff to be less that helpful and not really inviting - hence the low score.

The desserts where nice once they arrived, but customer service and waiting time was below par, took around 40 mins for desserts come and the shop was not even busy. Desserts arrived at table, friends received theirs, I had to wait 10-15 mins before mine came as they forgot. Nice place, but customer service needs improving if it wants to improve.

We get in and we choose our meals. 15 minutes later we get our drinks. Another 10 minutes pass and we get our meals. Service was not good but the food was. We ordered a chai tea and it’s not even chai. To be fair to them they only had one waitress but that doesn’t change much. I would only recommend if you don’t mind waiting.

Just been to sweet in hanley. I ordered the strawberrytella panacke and i loved it! It was so soft and fluffy! Just the right amount of nutella. The staff were also very professional and welcoming. Would totally recommend it!

It is situated in a decent part of Hanley. There is a decent front to the desert cafe. There is a large glass window on the front. The interior feels like a modern style with a wooden finish. The tables have a laminated to them. The service felt a little impersonal and rushed. It was however not very fast service as we waited a long time for drinks. There was an interesting music choice.

If you like sweet deserts then this might be for you but last time I visited sweet I threw up as soon as I got out from the bubblegum milkshake I prefer the little desert shop

I took my son to sweet as a treat during the school holidays. He'd been wanting to try the waffles and milkshakes for a while. He wasn't dissapointed! I tried the cookie dough, it was really good. The portion sizes were very generous, and the food was well presented.

The food was very nice but the customer service was awful not friendly at all. At one point, my friend asked where the toilet was and received a very dirty look and a blunt reply of ‘down stairs’. I just thought it really ruined my experience of the restaurant and me and my friends will be going to little desserts from now on. Not impressed.

I went to sweet with my boyfriend we used to be regulars untill we went in on a late night we were the only customers at the time so we thought service would be fast the service was very slow the girls working were all messing around and having a joke while one girl wearing gloves was touching her face then handeling my boyfriends food I was appalled and we left and have not returned there has always been bad customer service but we still went because of the quality of the food but the last visit was just a joke

Went in with a couple of friends earlier today, ordered the cookie dough which was lovely! Staff were polite although it wasn't nice to see bullying between staff members, a foreign speaking girl 'Maria' said horrible things straight to another staff member. Not what you want to see on a night out

I visited again today and was once again delighted. The waffle that I had was delightful and honestly will never go another dessert place again. I was served by a polite, happy member of staff who's name was Becky. She made sure that I had what I needed and was sure to check up on if I needed anything else. 10/10

I visited Sweet last week with my family after we had been to the theatre. It was clear it was busy and there was only two members of staff on, one of which was called Lucy who was in the kitchen and the other lady who was waiting on had dark hair and was lovely. Although it was clear they were busy the food that was made was still a work of art. At one point my family and I were all watching Lucy make the food and we couldn’t believe how amazing it looked while doing 4 tickets at once. An older couple came over and asked how long the wait was and she said that her ticket is next. 2 minutes later they came over and said ‘we are leaving.’ very rudely. However Lucy was very polite and apologised. It is Christmas and staff don’t deserve to be treated that way, there is only so much they can do. If you don’t want to wait and get fresh food then get yourself over to Mcdonalds. Great service and even better food. Thank you for making our visit wonderful we will be back.

So we visited sweet for a yummy treat and we weren’t disappointed. The crepes were amazing and the hot cookie dough was delicious. Cost £23 for the 3 of us. Will definitely go again.

We had a really lovely dessert and drink and were served by very helpful and friendly staff who couldn't do enough for us. I would recommend Sweet to everyone. Thank you for a lovely and relaxing experience.

Went in on a Saturday night just for a quick dessert after a meal out in town. The two staff on were noticeably very busy and understaffed. After overhearing the staff say they “didn’t know how to make coffees” our 2 coffees that we ordered as we sat down arrived half an hour later. One member of staff brought us over a free slice of cake to apologise for the delay but then forgot entirely about our actual dessert order and made out we had never ordered them. The other member of staff was continuously filling up the waffle maker only to burn every one and then throw them away. Clearly understaffed and prioritising take away orders.

I visited sweet a few weeks ago with my friend and was served by a polite member of staff who made sure we had everything we needed. The service was amazing and the waffle I ate was to die for. Since then I have returned and been served by the same member of staff who had the same polite manner as she did before. She even remembered me! I'm sorry I don't know her name but she had brown hair and was presented neatly. Would highly recommend and will definitely be returning

Waited half hour for a latte and cake shocking service , walked out in end without paying for 2 cold lattes didn’t even get to see the cake .never again

I have always been a regular customer to Sweet since the day it opened, however when I went yesterday with my mother the customer service I got was absolutely appalling.

I went in with a few friends to try there cookie dough, we entered and one staff member was serving another table, another was sitting down eating food! I now believe her name to be Shannon as another staff member had to tell her there was people waiting, as we sat to order the other staff member (Not Shannon) was very polite and brought us our food (which was lovely by the way) but as we sat to eat, we were disgusted to hear the Shannon girl swear and be very rude to the other member of staff, as well as repeatedly go on there phones, despite people waiting to be served!

Well, this place has the wow factor on presentation and setting. The food lives up to the hype too! The servers are also very friendly. I ordered a cookie dough which I couldn’t finish as it was a tad too sickly for my liking (and I have a sweet tooth!) and the price was just as sickly. If you’re on a budget I wouldn’t advise going here, £8 for a shake, £9 for the cookie dough and £9 for the waffles. To be honest most of the menu is between £8-10 per item (which are expensive desserts)!

We came last week for a friends birthday and our experience was fantastic. We were seated downstairs as there was a lot of us. I had a Jar but we all had different and it was amazing, it was presented beautifully. Our waiter was name Lucy, she was great. She was running up and down all night but nothing was an issue for her, she went to every effort and even put a candle in my friends food as it was his birthday! She was very relaxed with us and she seems very well suited for the job, she was chatty, smiley and an all round credit to this establishment. Thank you for our great food, we will be back soon.

Second time eating at this place and the food was delicious again. There’s a great range to choose from and something for everyone with a sweet tooth. We were much happier with our second visit as the first time, the girl making the desserts was rude to the other staff and looked as though she couldn’t be bothered. The staff today were lovely though. Would definitely recommend a visit!

Myself and two of my friends came into Sweet on Saturday evening after a trip to the cinema and they were very busy so a young girl politely asked us to take a seat in the waiting area while she cleared our table. We were then seated and another lovely girl came over to take our order, it seemed that she was quite new so she was a bit unsure on the menu, so she asked the other waiter for a bit of help and they were both so lovely and couldn't do enough for us. It's really nice to see more experienced staff being so patient and kind towards more newer staff. The food was also amazing, the two girls who made our desert clearly put a lot of effort into them. Great prices, great service and great food. Couldn't recommend enough.

I came to Sweet last night with a friend after a long day at work. I was first drawn in by the decor as it looked lovely from the outside. I ended up ordering the Kinder Bueno waffle after much deliberation and my friend had a cookie collision cookie dough. I must say the food is absolutely fantastic and the service was even better! The waitress (I asked her name and she told me itwas Lucy) she was very attentive and couldn't do enough for us. Definitely service with a smile. I will definitely be returning soon! Thanks for a great meal.

Just happened to be passing and as we were out for the day for my birthday, stopped here for a little birthday chocolate fix. Never been here before but we will definitely return! Greeted by Jay and our order was taken. Ordered a jar and cake and coffee. Asked for a slight tweak to the order as it was my birthday. They then brought over a pancake with strawberries and chocolate as a little birthday treat! Absolutely lovely!!! Our actual order was amazing. So much chocolate we feel sick! And its good chocolate. You can tell they do not use cheap ingrediants. Everything was made fresh to order (which is why i think you need to ignore any reviews talking about how long it takes). Jay and the rest of the staff went out of their way to make our visit an excellent one. 100% would recommend!

We have been Sweet before so knew what to expect and on 2nd impressions I have to say I feel the place is very overpriced for what you get!

This is our second visit, the first one being around a month or so back which we didn't particularly enjoy, but thought we'd give it another go to be fair. We had brilliant service from a waitress called Amber who demonstrated a calmness and professionalism that you would expect. No mean feat given that they were clearly understaffed and being obviously verbally abused by another table of customers, which doesn't make for a pleasant family treat. Food overpriced (seems prices have gone up recently) and nothing special. I would give five stars for the efforts of the staff, but two for everything else.

My friend and I decided to visit Sweet to grab an ice cream in Hanley. With just getting a scoop of ice cream, we thought we’d take it out with us instead of sitting in, therefore this was just a fleeting visit.

Ordered a coffee and two ice cream cones. After half an hour and asking twice if our order was on the way we left! Awful service. I was asked on the way out if I’d enjoyed it. After replying that the experience was appalling and that I still hadn’t had my order nothing was done. Very disappointing!

This place is great if you have a sweet tooth! A large range of desserts to choose from aswell. I have been here several times in the past and I have generally been satisfied with service and quality of desserts.

I went in and was shown to a table at the back next to the stairs. I decided what I wanted then waited for ages till I managed to get a member of staff. After a longest wait for a cake milkshake it was served without any cutlery. I went and found my own after I realised no one was coming back. No one came and checked on me and there was no napkins served with a messy dessert. At nearly £8 for a fancy milkshake that was nice but not worth the price. I waited for ages for a member of staff to ask if I wanted the bill. I went to go to the front to ask for the bill and a member of staff said he would get it for me after he seated the customers he was with. 20 minutes later after he had served 3 other customers and cleared two tables he remembered me but went to do something else. I went to the front and got the bill. I enjoyed my dessert but overpriced and the staff were really busy.

Leaving this for the Stafford branch which as someone else mentioned does not have a listing. As another reviewer said it has a very 'sickly' smell when you enter. We had red velvet cheesecake which was ok and white cookie dough, which was tiny compared to the picture and all the other dessert shops we have visited . It had a tablespoon of gelato and a miko stick for some reason. Service was ok but after taking our order we were told ten minutes later there were no sprite lites. The bill including 3 small cokes was £17-50! Suggest you take your £ somewhere else!

Wow! so much to choose from - I thought I had died and gone to heaven! The place was lovely , the staff very attentative and the choice was overwhelming. Definitely recommend if you need to feed that sweet tooth craving...

So me and my boyfriend previously had takeout milkshakes and they were delicious so decided to go in and try the dessert. We were greeted by the most miserable girl i’ e ever come across, being a waitress myself, your customer service skills were awful :) service with a smile isn’t too much to ask. She slammed the plates and milkshakes down and it took her atleast 15 minutes to take our order! The food was over cooked and dry, and my bill cost me £23! Absolutely outrageous for overcooked food and bad service. Will not return, only plus side is good milkshakes.

Lovely range of desserts here. Not the cheapest place and that would be the only negative. The food is served reasonably quick and is very nice. If u have a sweet tooth then this is the place to go. Cake sluces and large jars with lots of chocolate and toppings are the best. Worth a regular visit.

I came to sweet on 12th May 2018 with my Mum and sister. We had all heard and seen how good sweet looked on facebook so we decided to go. The actually restaurant is really nice with modern decor but wasn’t clean and especially the food area which was very messy and dirty. The food took about 20 minutes to come despite not being busy, the food portions are very small and expensive however they are nice. But the worst part was the service! The staff were so rude and slow as if they couldn’t be bothered to work which was so off putting as a customer! Will not return due to the ignorance of the staff

I have gone with my husband at night for dessert.we ordered dessert but I have also asked for water as I was thirsty but get disappointed as the server didn’t serve the water for 10 mins .. if someone is ordering water that means that is required first than dessert .so the service was poor not impressed at all . Dessert was delicious .. would prefer to go again ..

I bought a groupon deal for my kids to use in the school holidays £10 for 2 alto shakes. Great deal and the kids loved it. Coffee was excellent too and not over priced. Looking forward to visiting again soon.

We had waffles which were delicious and huge! We could barely manage half of it! The drinks we both had were juice smoothies which we both weren't overly impressed with, but the milkshakes are also delicious.

Waiting time for food was quite long although once it came it was worth it. Took 15 minutes to be seated but with the food being amazing, that’s understandable. Very clean place, very tasty food, one of the ladies working behind making the food seemed like she didn’t want to be there at all and was an eye sore seeing her miserable face, on the other hand, all the other staff members were polite and very friendly and made me and my friends seem very welcome!

Visited with a friend for a birthday treat abc was left very disappointed. The hot chocolate machine was out of order, staff were slightly rude. My friend asked the girl serving if the cheese cake was mascarpone style or New York and basically she had no clue. Music was too loud and we could barely hear each other talk. Overall very poor, I go to the little dessert shop occasionally with that children so next time I shall just stick to there. Will not return !

We were really excited to have dessert here and the food looked amazing - however the service was so slow that once we had finally been seated we had to get up and walk out! Also whilst the decoration is great there seemed to lack atmosphere, could maybe do with a bit of music?

Not the cheapest, but lovely desserts. Sundaes range from £6.95, puddings average £4.95. Amazing waffles from circa £8. Well worth a visit, friendly staff, made an effort for the kids. Will come again

Attempted to visit the new Sweet cafe in Stafford with my mum for a Sunday afternoon treat. Given the non existent customer service ethos of the place - the waitress was rude, abrupt and pulling faces when having to wipe a table so we could sit nearer to a window. She continued to mutter and glare at us when we sat at said table and talk about us to another waitress. That was our cue to leave! Think the staff need some customer service training or will lose a lot of trade to another more inviting Dessert Shop less than 5 minutes walk away.

We visited early on a saturday afternoon, greeted nicely, sat down straight away, decor was lovely, nice atmosphere, all though we were sat on a table for 2 right next the cooking appliances which were throwing off some heat, avoid this table if you can.

Only visited a couple of times and been a waste of time both times.

Stopped for coffee and cake, coffee came to our table and twenty plus minutes later cake arrived!! When I mentioned we needed our hot drink with our cake the girls reply was we bring the drinks first then the cakes, when we questioned why she wasn't interested. Never again will I spent £16.00 on two cakes and two coffees not to enjoy them together, and if that's their policy not to keep their customers happy it just isn't for us.

The service is slow but the food is worth it. Been 3 times, 1 out of those 3 the service was fast. The food you can not complain at. Always delicious and well presented. Would still return as the food is worth it.

I went with a friend, he received his order within 20 minutes of ordering however, I ordered a crepe at 2:30 and didn't receive mine until 3:15. They burn't the crepe three times and had to redo it. One member of staff was on her phone not even doing anything, whilst it was burning and could've been attended.

Went for a meal for a birthday here, was unique and very delicious. All the staff were very friendly and the service was very fast. Ideal place for anyone who loves desserts and milkshakes.

It's a treat to visit this busy well run business in the centre of Stoke. If you love waffles , crepes and ice cream ? Eat here it's great fun.

Chocolate brownie cookie dough was amazing. Milkshakes were really good. Everything really tasty and looked great. Staff were very attentive. But it's a tiny bit pricy, probably meant for a treat every now and again. Overall really impressed.

Took my daughter here for a weekend treat. We got to the door and saw we were immediately in a queue to be seated. The people in front of us said that they had been told there was a 20 minute wait. I almost decided to leave, but the people in front did instead making us the front of the queue. We were greeted by a young gent and shown to a table within 5 minutes of waiting which was a bonus. We were sat at a small table and given menus. The menu is extensive so you need to have an idea of the type of dessert you want first (waffle, crepes, cheesecake, cake etc). We chose to share a maltesers waffle with a couple of drinks. We substituted an ingredient to customise or waffle which was no problem. My loose peppermint tea was served in a lovely pot with glass cup and my daughter had a fruit shoot. Waffle arrived within ten minutes as it is made fresh to order. It looked amazing and tasted great. It was priced at £6.95 which is more expensive than what I have paid for similar before (see my review for Oceans Waffle House) and the toppings were good. When we got the bill I noticed I had been charged extra for my substitution (direct swap), this needs to be made clear to the customer at time of ordering. The venue is nicely decorated and the staff are all quite young, couldn't tell who was in charge. Our server Liam was lovely and really polite and friendly. Like another reviewer has said, I am not sure how I feel about the level of hygiene, as the girls behind the counter had long hair draped over shoulders and around the food. If I wanted a waffle again, I would probably go to Oceans, but would maybe consider coming here again to try something different. Toilets were clean as was the venue. Glad we tried it.

Due to the nature of the shop it's not somewhere I'd visit to often but the food is very well presented. The waffles are all made fresh to order, and are very good value for the price we paid. The atmosphere was wonderful, and it was very clean inside along with table service couldn't fault it.

Great place well decorated and good service desserts and milkshakes are amazing. Good selection of desserts and milkshakes too will be back
