Not been to this pub for years, we used to know the last Licensee. Bumped into her a few weeks ago which promoted me to revisit. Booked a table with the Carol, the very friendly Licensee now and explained that I had limited walking so had to sit as soon as I came in. She looked out for me and everything went smoothly. The menu was one that looked to me, a retired Home Economist, as one done by a professional. The Chef, Carol's Husband, came out and we had a nice chat about food and cooking and yes, he is a properly trained Chef. There was a special on, Steak with home made sauce, mustard mash and fresh vegetables. This was under £10. It was really good. I also ordered the Jambalaya as a take away to have the next day - think this was about £9. I have a qualification in Cajun and Creole cooking and this was the best one I have had over here as it is difficult to get all of the spices I use (I get them from America). Devon, behind the bar was such a pleasant young Man. All in all, a great experience, especially as they did not know me and I was on my own. Don't know how they do it for the price and I have already booked to return.

We were staying nearby and found this pub because of the government dine in offer, the prices were very reasonable in any case. Good choice of quality food swiftly served by friendly staff

Really nice food and great customer service. We really enjoyed our lunch here. My partner had the mixed grill and I had the chicken jambalaya and both were very tasty.

Friendly, efficient waiter service, good wholesome food enjoyed by all our family and relatives! Nice starters and main courses, oh, we just managed a dessert! Would benefit from some real cider / perry but had a reasonable ale on :-) Relaxed environment with outside seating for summer!

The Swan May look like your average local pub but when we popped in for a quick working lunch we were surprised by the menu and the choice of home cooked food. The menu and specials were explained in detail and we went for the venison burgers - home made with meat from a local gamekeeper - served with home made chips and salad. The food was excellent and really tasty. There are also light bite options and over 60’s offers but the menu is really good value anyway. Really worth a visit for Ray’s home cooking.

We booked the swan for 16 , all old friends who meet up for lunch and enjoy a good catch up , the food was fantastic, all homemade and delicious, the choice was great and for the standard of food very reasonably priced . They couldn't do enough for us and the service was fab. We have been to a few places but I don't think we will hesitate to make this our meeting place for lunch from now on . A great big Thank you to everyone for making it such a lovely afternoon , and I can't recommended the Swan highly enough .

This used to be a great Pub for food, sadly not anymore. Not offered ice and lemon in soft drinks, long wait for food. When it came it was overcooked. Not a patch on previous owner. The dog constantly begging at the table didnt help either. To be fair we were asked if the food was OK but you could see it wasn't OK when it was served. We had paid, waited ages and were hungry so we ate what we could and left.

Good old fashioned Pub grub. Good portions and reasonable prices. Can't beat it. Not posh cuisine but go if you're hungry and not pretensious.

I went there for lunch with my family.I liked the way it looks and it has a wide range of beer types .It is a nice place where people come to meet friends play pool or darts .The waitress as friendly and helpful but unfortunately we didn't like the food ,although they offer(they say ) traditional English food which I have tried before and really enjoyed it. I don't think the food is prepared on the spot ( I think they have it frozen or something and they defreeze it when they need it) .The desserts were awful and tasteless.I would go back there for the beer and for the atmosphere

This is the 3rd time we have been to Bury market. But the first time we have been to this tea room it is well worth a visit. friendly staff, clean, the food was great to. I do not know why we did not go to this cafe before because it is near the bus/tram station. We will go again

Called in for drinks and snacks. We ordered tea and iced peach tea. The milk for the tea was curdled and the peach tea was tasteless. Both had to be replaced. The staff were very good abut it. The bagel and currant teacake were both very nice.

Have been coming here for years. No offence at all to the other chefs but they have a new young team and the food was unreal! Best food I’ve had there and maybe the best burger I’ve ever eaten. Steak and bacon and all three of us who had it were absolutely wowed. Perfectly cooked and excellent in terms of quality and quantity of meat. My Dad and my Uncle love coming here and we will be back.
