Excellent Chinese, the hot and sour soup was very good and the main meal was excellent, well worth a visit if you are in yhe area

Didn't quite know what to expect restaurant clean but needs an update but it's the food you go for. Friendly owner and staff. Firstly will not pay £25 for a bottle of white wine riddiculous price no need for such excessive price !!! Soup came hot and sour, lacking something won ton soup very nice. Then some dim sums not bad. Mains Cantonese fillet steak nice but lacking flavour then the fried rice very bland chips like cardboard but the fish pot stew was terrible king prawns the only edible thing in it scallops disgusting squid yuk and then battered fish all mush in a sauce only thing good in it were the vegetables. So sorry to say will not return stick to Nantwich and sandbach where its always wonderful.

We decided to celebrate our anniversary at the Swallow. As usual, very attentive staff and the food was amazing. Had chicken in black bean sauce, sizzling fillet steak, rice with meat and prawns, stir fry mushrooms and prawn toast. All served hot and nicely presented. Flavour was brilliant and great sized portions. No rushing you to leave and only approached to make sure we were enjoying our meal. Would thoroughly recommend a visit!

The Swallow is the place to go for Chinese cuisine, the food is amazing, service outstanding and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, highly recommended

We had spare ribs with chilli and garlic on they were delicious we also had pancake rolls which were nice.we shared the two dishes both were lovely.lots of food was being collected while we were there.my husband had king prawn chow mein I had chicken .vegetables had a nice crunchy chow mein was nice .we had a portion of rice crackers too as an extra .all nice nice staff.my hubby said toilets clean too extra points .

The best chinese restaurant and takeaway in whitchurch by a mile. Slightly dearer, but well worth the extra.

It is a long time since I ate Chinese food and was seriously impressed. We have had food from Swallow twice now and it is superb. Genuinly blown away by how much better they are than any other I have tried. Thank you

I rarely give a full 5 stars! But this place is the cats pyjamas!Their restaurant is always spotless, the hospitality and customer service is amazing. And the food is out of this world. Our chinese takeaways come from here and you are never left with a bag or box full of grease at the end. If we are going to friends near Shrewsbury or Nantwich and we are having a chinese they always say make sure we bring one with us from the Swallow! Literally don't know why i wasted my money at other chinese restaurants before having one from Swallow.

Visited here while on holiday, the food was excellent presented fresh and piping hot, the staff were very helpful, but the price is quiet steep, £70.00 for 2 course with 2 cokes for the two of us

We had a takeaway meal from here on Wednesday Evening and it was absolutely superb. No fault could be attributed to the food we purchased or the service we received. An excellent meal that will be repeated

Clean,quiet,well maintained, with a fair selection of Chinese and Thai and English dishes. I do not object to proprietors pricing their menus to make a reasonable profit, but prices here are a tad on the high side. Drinks especially soft drinks are pricey. That said, the food provided was excellent, nicely prepared and HOT! This venue is good for parties and functions, my only concern would be the staffing level if it was a large function.

My wife and I always have our take out meals from The Swallow restaurant (you can't beat the quality, best in town), but have to admit we've only eaten inside on a couple of occasions, the last being this week with our step-mother and brother and sister-in-law whilst they were up from Cornwall. From the minute we walked in we were treated excellently by the lady and young gentleman who were serving this night. Complimentary prawn crackers were delicious, drinks were served, our orders were taken and nothing was too much trouble. Neither did we feel rushed, or did we have to wait long for our meals. Well I have to tell you my brother-in-law is a retired butcher and he is fussy, but he said his fillet steak with black bean sauce was one of the best he had eaten ( I tried it, it was melt-in-the-mouth). My wife plumped for the same but with wine and chilli sauce, the two other ladies had sweet and sour chicken, and I ordered Scallops in wine and chilli sauce. All meals were fabulous. Want this added? No problem. Want that taken away? Absolutely. I have to say I have never seen such a succulent and plentiful plate of scallops! If I have one tiny criticism they could have done with a bit of colour on them, but this didn't detract from the way they tasted, absolutely delicious! The two members of staff didn't hover, but if we needed our drinks replenished they were there in an instant. The whole evening was superb with 1st class food and fantastic service, two members of staff that the owners should very proud of! A definite 5* for Swallow Restaurant - their take out meals never disappoint, now I remember why I enjoyed eating in so much!

Stopped in on the way down south. Was recommended this restaurant from a nearby pub. We were greeted warmly by the friendly staff. Quite an extensive menu so we had trouble choosing. We ordered the Chicken sung, Jill Yuen ribs, sweet and sour king prawns and the beef satay. Everything was delicious and generous portion sizes. The king prawns were very succulent and well worth it. Would definitely recommend

Whilst passing through Whitchurch, happened to stop at this restaurant for a meal. The service was excellent whilst the food was simply excellent.One of the best Chinese meals I have ever had. Outstanding!

Food was great with lots of options to choose from at good prices. Would definitely recommend ordering the crispy chilli beef! Service was also great as I was warmly welcomed and food arrived quite quickly too. Would 100% recommend this restaurant!

It is always good to be welcomed as a solo diner into a restaurant and I was warmly welcomed here. However, I was wondering if I was welcomed so heartily as I was the first sit down diner on this Saturday evening. My doubts were soon put away as I realised that the restaurant had a very busy take away trade.I started with hot and sour soup. It lived up to its name and was quite delicious. My main course was a bit more mediocre. Expecting a flavoursome spicy sauce for my pork choice it was disappointing to find it a sweet rather bland sauce. The rice was delicious however. I had red wine with my meal which I found too cold to be round and fruity. Service was efficient and friendly, price acceptable but main course slightly disappointing as it did not match the menu description. A sweet toothed person may well have found it suitable.

This place is good because its consistent. I wouldnt say its the best chinese iv had but its always good. Take away menu is reasonably priced.

For the price I paid here (ridiculous) I was expecting some top quality food. However, my special fried rice was not so special... the meat is no nicer than any other normal priced chinese takeaway, fatty & gross, I gave it to the dog. Also, for this price I'd expect some prawn crackers!! Every other chinese takeaway gives them and they're charging half the price so I'm sure you could slip some in! The three stars is for the curry sauce and the chips as they were quite nice... however, not quite worth the price we paid.Will go elsewhere next time, as we don't fancy taking out a loan to pay for our chinese ☺

Don't get me wrong the Swallow serves very good food - but what has happened to the pricing? Main dishes are on average over the £10 mark.That's as much as the 'all you can eat banquet' only a few doors down - and even that's made to order.

Great place to eat and friendly staff.... the food is well prepared and presented piping hot. Nothing is too much trouble

I’ve used this restaurant for 5+years & have always been happy until recently. Every time we order (last 6 months) there is at least 1 item missing. This time we get home (10 minutes drive) & half the order is missing. My entire order was missing so I had nothing! This is a regular thing & just the same when you eat in. 1 starter & 2 main course missing last time. Such a shame... time to find a new Chinese restaurant.

Went to get a takeaway but decided to use the restaurant instead. Glad we did the food was amazing and the service was brilliant. Perfect meal to end what had been a lovely day.

By far the best Chinese restaurant outside if London's China town. Good food well cooked and very consistent, be it eatin in or taking hone. The staff are friendly and always have a smile

I have been coming to this place for a number of year the experience just gets better, Whitchurch is a bit dead so to find this little gem has to be a + authentic dishes that are made from Chinese ingredients. try the rice paper wrapped prawn for starters and then the Singapore fish/prawn noodles or steak in sticky sauce. WOW

En el general, el bueno de Swallow es buena. Sin embargo, sentimos que se ha convertido en muy caro para un llevar (ni siquiera te dan gratis un pan de gambas en orden) por 30 libras. El chili carne es uno de nuestros favoritos, pero puede ser impredecible.

La selección de platos es buena y variada, y la calidad es muy buena. Se pone muy concurrido con pedidos para llevar, así que tienes que esperar un rato, pero merece la pena ya que la comida es a la orden tan fresco y caliente. El servicio es bueno también.

Este restaurante de la mejor comida china por millas y millas. No estoy seguro de qué es lo que ha sucedido recientemente, pero esto podría ahora ser mediocre para llevar cualquier otro. Es más caro que la media de China (no nos dan de cortesía de gambas galletas saladas). En los últimos años, nunca me he importado pagar los precios elevados, ya que la comida era excelente. No obstante, después de la basura he estado sirve esta noche, no regresaré de nuevo.

We went with a party of 10 on Mothers Day evening and have to say the service and food was excellent. Front of House was really good and looked after us throughout the evening and even gave the children lollies to keep them happy! All in all, the food was as delicious as ever and although we do not get to go as often as we would like we will definitely be going again soon.

The food tasted good as always and the portion sizes are good. The waitress was as helpful as she could be but the proprietress was Not. At. All. There were some in the party with a gluten intolerance but when asked if something had gluten in the response was an basically an uninterested "we can't be sure if anything has or not" without bothering to check or try to help. It was pot luck therefore... Unacceptable in this day and age.The cola is £5 for a pint!!! I know restaurant prices can be expensive but come on!

So the positives are the food is good and the location is easy to find. The downsides are the service is terrible, the speed is glacial and the price expensive. This used to be one of the better places in town. I have been there for my last visit!

One of the few places that does 'lettuce wraps', FAB definitely worth trying for your starter. Portions are massive, 3 of us had different starters and really we should have had 2 and shared. They were all beautiful and well presented. Staff friendly and helpful. The duck in plum sauce was beautiful and again, a large portion, so large that I only managed half but they are happy to give you a 'doggy bag' to take the rest home. Definitely it was too good to leave it.

Food is fabulous, both the takeaway and the restaurant. However, the fact that you often have to wait for over an hour to eat in the restaurant because they are too busy doing takeaways, even though the restaurant was empty, is unacceptable.

Have eaten in here as well as now trying the take away. A little more expensive than your average Chinese but well worth it. Great selection of dishes with some unusual ones too.

Ordered takeaway- by the time I'd got home which is 2mins away it was only warm and they'd given me not what I ordered......after phoning there was no apology and didn't offer a fresh meal! It used to be good?!

I had previously written a glowing review about this place. It was the best Chinese I had ever had, but something has changed.Not sure if they are using cheaper ingredients or they have a different chef, but whatever it is has badly affected their food.It used to be moist and delicious, but the takeaway I had last night was anything but.Spare ribs weren't as tender or tasty as before, the sesame chicken was awful. Tinder dry and like shoe leather. The noodles were ok, but not great. Overall very average.I suspect they are cost cutting, but by doing so have now gone from being a great place to get food to a bang average takeaway.Fair to say they have lost my custom.

Ordered takeaway - everyone complaining (over 2 hours people had been waiting in restaurant) ... Excuse "New Chef, doesn't know where things are in kitchen!!" Violently ill all night and next day - never again!!Avoid!!

Shame that there were not many people in because the food is excellent, service is always good and I'd taken someone there for the first time, they were most impressed. Staff friendly and efficient.

The food is always good however the takeaway service is very slow. Took an hour for a meal for two. We only ordered noodles, rice, one char Sui dish. Can't say I am too impressed. Would hate to think how long a meal for four would take. Don't think I will bother again.

Ate here tonight, nice surroundings pleasant staff as great food. Also has own parking so you don't need to park elsewhere and walk. Best singapore vermicelli nice and spicy! Loved the prawn crackers too-we will be back

Started off fine with a lovely starter but then 2 larger parties arrived and we were forgotten about and had to wait for quite a while between courses and had to get our own menu to try and order desserts,which when they came, were not good.Also there was a lot of takeaway trade which meant quite a lot of people hanging around waiting for takeouts which spoilt the evening totally.Would not waste my money by going again.

I find myself always eating here as I know I will always get good customer service and great food! Just been back this weekend, really enjoyed the environment, even if it was a little cold ha! I find the prices good and always willing to pay more for something so good! I find the interior needs a little t l c, the toilets need good looking at, for to toilet paper, broken hand dyer. Keeping them clean through out day and night.

Mixed review...Started out as my favourite restaurant Visited regularly Then they had some staff problems (these things happen) food came out fragmented. Nobody could eat together. We had a take away following this ..... very tasteless. .. not like we have had before.Then after a few months we have a takeaway again. .. the restaurant is busy, lots of takeaways.Thank you.... this was very tasty and ready when expected. Good Chinese restaurants are becoming increasingly difficult to find.This one is a gem.We visited this restaurant with friends.The Salt and Pepper ribs (Jill Yuen) are probably the best i have ever tried.Each dish we ordered being that little more special than food you usually get in this type of restaurant.All in all superb.

We went on a Monday at 5.00 pm so, not surprisingly, we were the only diners but a steady stream of takeaway orders indicated the restaurant's popularity. The restaurant interior belied it's rather mundane appearance from outside. We had 2 servers to ourselves so service was obviously instantaneous. The food quality, presentation and quantity were first class. I can only think that the person who rated this restaurant as terrible must have confused it with somewhere else. I can't say if this was actually the best Chinese food I have ever tasted but it was right up there and I have eaten in "Chinatown" restaurants in Liverpool, Manchester, London and many places around the world. I consider myself to be a connoisseur of this cuisine and would unreservedly recommend the Swallow to anybody.

My friend and I ate here last night. Two hours later we had consumed a glass of lemonade each and a main course! Service was terrible - we waited ages to be served (despite being the only ones in). Our plates were only cleared away when we stacked them up and pushed them to the end of the table! We were not offered a dessert menu, or asked if we would like coffee, both of which we would have had. In a decent restaurant these would have been brought straightaway. I refused to ask, as this should have been normal practice, and after a long wait, when it was apparent nothing was going to happen, we paid up and left. Our food was good, such a pity service let it down.

Ordered four meals as a takeaway, had to wait nearly 2 hours for cold and disgusting food, will never visit this establishment ever again, really dissapointed!

We eat here regularly, either takeaway or dining in. We have never had a bad meal from Swallow in 6 years. It's a little more pricey than your average takeaway but you get what you pay for. I agree with a previous reviewer that the lady owner can sometimes be a little abrupt, but her husband more than makes up for it! Cannot recommend enough

I've walked past this place on numerous occasions and there's never been more than 3 occupied tables, so I was reluctant to try it. Well, I shouldn't have worried. It's really delicious. Just to point out, I've never eaten in the restaurant, always got a take away, which, I assume, is where they do most of their business. We opted for BBQ Spare ribs, Sweet and Sour King Prawns, Special Chow mein and a Four Seasons special, which was duck and other bits and bobs. Everything was lovely.The ribs were tender and meaty, the S&S prawns were big and juicy. Everything was superb.Highly recommended. Give it a go. I'll be returning frequently.

Popped in on a Saturday night at 9:30 - nobody in restaurant !! Never a good sign, however remember food was good in past we went in.Service a little slow but we were chatting a lot. Food was good above average for Chinese Restaurants but not the very best.

We have eaten at this Restaurant a couple of time a year since it opened, we have always considered it to be overpriced for the area, but we have generally not been disappointed with the food.Perhaps we chose badly, perhaps the Chef was having an off night, but the food was very bland, the very "dressed up" menu description was no way reflected in the cooking of what seemed to be little more the a selection of ingredients from the freezer.We will not be rushing back, to give the another chance .

This place is amazing. Single handedly the best food I have ever eaten. The highest quality with the added bonus off continuity. We normally have a take away but sometimes dine in. If you are getting a take away at the weekends, either call early or be prepaired to have await as they get sooo busy. The lady that owns the restaurant can seem a little cold but always professional. Her husband is very laid backed and a real nice chap.Food to some people can seem a bit over priced, but what they must remember is that they will eat no better food else where I promise you. As with all restaurants, the beer is a little over priced. All in all the best food you'll ever eat.
