Worst food and customer experience I have ever encountered. Briefly, 2 takeaway meals barely acceptable, third takeaway meal inedible, fourth takeaway completely wrong. Was advised to bring back the incorrect meal, pay £6 and they will replace the meal. REALLY. Wrong meal was salt and pepper chicken and not chicken nuggets and chips. My 94 year old mother almost choked on the pepper, thankfully she was not allergic to pepper. Ambrosia Chinese takeaway in Shrewsbury needs to be closed down. It is dangerous. This is not the only encounter I have had.

Just ordered 4 meals today came on time this time? The order was incorrect. rang them back..they wouldn't accept there mistake. .after paying the bill plus delivery charge ..was told to return meal but to pay £6 more to get correct meal...if anybody reads this .go elsewhere

Takeaway Chinese meal for four. Worst Chinese takeaway I have ever encountered. I’ve lived in Aussie and South Africa and have never encountered a worse experience. I received an incorrect dish of four. 2 of the dishes were just acceptable, the third terrible and the fourth wrong. Bring it back and pay £6.00 extra for the correct dish was the answer to my complaint. Conclusion, they need to be closed down, seriously. Terrible customer service and food.

Very disappointing 😞. Chicken and sweetcorn soup is so surgery sweet we couldn't eat it. Salt and pepper wings were very greasy. Singapore chow mein was so salty, no chili and very little taste. We will not be back.

We had a friday night food delivery. First time using Amrosia Express. Never again. The crispy duck was great and so were the spring rolls, but everything else was stodgy rubbery tasteless and so over salty. It was genuinely the worst chicken chow mein i have ever had. And i have had a few! The pork balls and prawn balls were mostly batter and certain ingredients, (including the prawn crackers, tasted of disinfectant. Really disappointing

First time trying this takeaway, superb quality and plenty of it. Will certainly use again. Would recommend this place to anyone.

Purchased Chinese takeaway from here several times in the last year. Consistently cannot fault the service or the food, especially at the price. Relatively predictable Anglo-Chinese menu, but very good quality ingredients cooked very well. Prepared quickly and service is extremely helpful and convenient.

Tried for first time on recommendation, food was delivered in good time and was excellent. Will definitely be going back. Good portions, great value for money.

Always great food, friendly service and quick delivery

It comes to something when the only thing we took away that had any real flavour was the plum sauce. The pork satay was unpleasantly sweet, the prawn with cashew nuts without any identifiable taste and the egg fried rice a congealed brick that might have come out of the Great Walk itself. Really unacceptable, re-heated rubbish.

This place has recently reopened under new management, my eldest is vegetarian but likes this place, we like the chicken balls with special fried rice. Definitely worth a try

Great food, but extremely poor customer service & attitude. The food is always consistently good here, which is a real shame that the unhelpfulness of the staff get in the way of this being somewhere you'd like to return to. I was told tonight that my usual meal (which is usually £10,50) was actually over £15. This was due to the Set Meal for one being £13... on their menu it's £8.40 (roughly). I asked about this once over the phone and once when I got there... complete with actually showing the member of staff the price on their menu which is on display. All the person on the other side of the desk could tell me was "I haven't been here long so I don't know". Would it have really been that hard to check?

First time we used this Chinese last week the amount we had for 2 could easily feed 4 people.Food was exceptionally very tasty.

This place is my new favourite, the food is absolutely incredible, worth every single penny, the girl behind the till is very helpful, friendly and professional and judging by the food quality so are the chefs, A* a million times over

I don’t know whether the takeaway has changed hands, as my favourite dish is chicken satay and it had always been excellent from Ambrosia Express. Sadly, on this occasion the dish was so sweet it was inedible. Such a shame, but I won’t be visiting again.

Hard to find a good Chinese in Shrewsbury - but this is easily the best. Quick delivery and good quality hot food, not had a bad experience with them yet.

Ordered food for delivery at 5.30 for 7pm delivery. At 8.50 no sign of food and no call. New to area and looking for a regular takeaway to use locally ! Will not be trying again. Disappointed to say the least.

Have been to other earby Chinese food places and being sorely disappointed with quality and freshness, decided to change from our usual takeaway. This is one of the best fast food places & we will continue to eat here. Will call to order and pick up to alleviate waiting. Would highly recommend.

After years of trying to find a decent Chinese we are so glad we tried this one! So looking forward to the next time 😋 it was delicious and decent sized portions, the pancake rolls are HUGE!!

Best Chinese food I’ve ever tasted!! Reasonably priced, quick service, highly recommend the chicken in black bean sauce but saying that everything I’ve ordered from the menu is to die for.

We ordered a take-away and were impressed. Our food arrived after 45 minutes, when we were told it would take around an hour, so we were pleasantly surprised. Portion sizes were excellent, and our food was good quality. It was also great value for money. Well worth a try.

Chinese quality food is thin on the ground in Shrewsbury. This place is decent, although only been once. When reading negative reviews most seem to be based around waiting or delivery times. I'd prefer this to negative reviews about the food. It was decent. The only thing I was disappointed with was the lack of vegetables compared to other Chinese food I've had. Literally none in any of the meals. I'll be going again anyway.

This has become my go to in the world of Chinese takeaway. easy parking. Friendly staff and good fresh cooked food. Portions are generous. The menu is much as you would expect but I recommend any item with a chilli icon.

We go here frequently (monthly) and they've been consistently great. This has been consistent for a year. Friendly people who care about their business. Will always be back!

Sadly will not be using again, after many years of lovely food the standard has dropped so much, not freshly cooked just obviously warmed up.

We decided to try a different Chinese to our usual one. Ordered at 6.35pm and was told it would be ready in 20-30 minutes.Got there at 7pm, paid, only for my food to be finally handed over at 7.55pm. I was not the only one. There were other customers who had been waiting longer; when we enquired how much longer the food would take the answer was always 10 minutes. We could hear lots of shouting in the kitchen so they clearly couldn't cope. 10 minutes would come and go and still no food for any of us. In the meantime the phone would ring and orders continue to be taken with estimated times that I can call optimistic at best. People waiting for deliveries were ringing up to ask where their food was too. Apparently there was only one chef working,in which case they shouldn't have accepted so many orders! Two people left, after demanding full refunds, having been waiting since 6.10pm and 6.15pm and being told they would still be another 10 minutes. They'd already wasted an hour of their evening in the waiting area having phoned the order in beforehand. One was offered a bottle of coke and £3 by way of compensation if he carried on waiting another 15 minutes, you couldn't make it up! Once I got home my family wondered where on earth I had been. The food was ok, apart from the overcooked, hard pancakes we had been looking forward to with the crispy duck. Nothing special and it's safe to say that we will never be going there ever again. I politely told them that in person too. Appalling service.

Decided to try somewhere new for a Chinese takeaway. We had the chicken chow mean, egg fried rice, sweet and sour chicken balls and the salt chilli chicken. Service was quick. Found the chicken quality to be very good compared to other takeaways we had tried. We'll certainly be trying this place again.

Good place for quality Chinese takeaway

We live a good 20 minute drive from Shrewsbury the food always arrives piping hot and always within the stated delivery time. Everything we have ordered has been excellent,even the prawn balls stay crispy during delivery.I highly recommend Ambrosia.

Looked for a Chinese to deliver to site with good reviews and these guys were awesome. Food was great and they only charged us £5 for delivery from the other side of town. Would recommend these guys.

Have been searching for a great take-away since we moved to Shrewsbury 18 months ago. We have tried 5-6 Chinese take-aways in this time and we have finally found a place we will keep going back to time after time

I really wanted to enjoy this takeaway, as there are limited choices around here on a Monday evening, this place won my a pinch by having “mock chicken” on their menu. The other place has quorn... (cheap nasty vile stuff). I was expecting some nicely flavoured soya, similar to that used in some Birmingham restaurants... turned out to be over cooked rock hard quorn... tasted worse than I ever remembered, so that was a let down.

Sorry. Don’t like leaving poor reviews but decided to have a Chinese delivered as a treat and was the worst Chinese meal I’ve ever had. Hot and sour soup tasted like soy sauce, sugar, vinegar and chemicals, and the rest of the food was tasteless reheated crap- felt like I was eating the reheated slops from a bin, so we didn’t - threw it all away and wasted £25.

Very bad experience didn't send any chow mein instead sent rice dishes. Lady on the phone basically told me my meal wasn't getting replaced as they were 'very busy' won't use again

Generally good and recommended but last couple of visits they've got the orders wrong even though they were only for four items! Hopefully they'll take a bit more care going forward.

It was ok nothing special to write home about...

Arrived just warm, they deliver in plastic cartons without any insulation which can't help . Tinfoil trays would hold the heat better. Ordered no cashews but still included them. Food pretty tasteless. Won't be using again.

Moving into Shrewsbury in the recent past we were in search of a decent takeaway and the and the Ambrosia has been a good servant. The food is reasonably priced and the staff as friendly.

Empezamos con pato crujiente, que era tan buena como en cualquier sitio. Y inusualmente con un montón de pepino y cebollas (puerros) Tanto nuestra principal las comidas eran deliciosos. Tanto arroz frito y tallarines también eran buenas. Sin duda volveré de nuevo.

Hurrah!After 6.5 years of living in the Shrewsbury area and having been disappointed by all of the previous Chinese takeaways we have tried, my wife and I finally feel like we have found a good one. Having travelled over the years and been spoilt by restaurants and takeaways that offer food that has real taste and bite, the Ambrosia Express to us brings those delightful meals back into to our home and on our plates. So many takeaways cater for the so called British 'taste buds', but there are a lot of Brits who do know how a good Chinese should taste and that means for example..Singapore Chow Mein should be with dry, thin noodles with a heat kick and not the thick, wet ones many offer.Our food tasted great. The owner/manager served us and what a lovely man! We were so busy chatting to him that we did not realise the food he had placed on the worktop was ours. We will definitely be going back. THANK YOU.

Completely unimpressed with the customer service, had to wait 25 minutes for one portion of chips! May I add they were rather dry and of average taste. I advise to ring up and order beforehand, or not at all.

Best Chinese in Shrewsbury. Ordered 5 mains, assortment of rices, pancake rolls etc. Less than £40 which was very good value for the high quality of food, king prawns with ginger and spring onion particularly nice.Recommend and will use again even though it's 30 miles away.

Awsome food fast delivery best in town

Use to have home delivery but now drive to collect due to several mistakes with our orders in the past. The food is very good quality, good value for money and excellent menu.

Loved this Chinese restaurant. It is small and food took a little while, however it is cooked fresh therefore the waiting doesn't matter. Arrive hungry - the portions are quite large!

There are king prawn balls, and then there are king prawn balls and THEN there are king prawn balls!I decided against the king prawn balls in the end and boy, am I glad I did.Very good, 4 stars.

We normally get our takeaway from the mandarin in Frankwell but decided to change after finding out that their food hygiene rating had dropped to 2 out of 5!! It's the best decision we ever made. The food is lovely and fresh, tasty and hot. They were the best king prawn balls we have ever had!! The gentleman who took the order was funny and pleasant and the delivery arrived quickly for such obviously freshly cooked food. We will 100% be returning for another takeaway and won't go anywhere else from now on
