The food was tasty as always and the service was amazing. Will definitely be back again soon in the future

A football game at the Etihad brought to this Indian in Stalybridge. It's location at the end of a shopping precinct was strange as was the dark (early evening) interior which was mostly empty. We were put right at the back where the poor lighting made it even darker. Service by a single gentlemen was efficient but not particularly personable. The food started well and we were given ample amounts of dip to accompany our poppadums. The curries however were a little disappointing. My son and I ordered very different curries but they looked and tasted very similar. My Jaipur dish was dominated by red peppers - there was no mention of them in the menu description! The long and sometimes tough slivers of chicken tikka were also not too our liking. The food was relatively cheap but we have had much better in many other Indian establishments. As we left at 7.30pm on a Saturday evening the restaurant was still very empty........I wonder why?!

I could not fault the food it was lovely but the service was shocking. Slamming our food in the table cleaning up around us and making us feel uncomfortable! This was supposed to a special meal for my friends son who was back from Australia after four years! We paid for the set menu and wasn’t served a dessert just demanded to pay! I will never come here again! A shame really as the food was lovely

Tried Swaadesh for the first time , very impressed, great food , wide selection and some different dishes great value too . You can take your own alcohol which saves money too

My family and I have had numerous excellent takeaways delivered from the restaurant so decided to pop in on a Monday evening. Friendly staff, a good choice on the menu. The food was excellent and taking your own alcohol is a bonus.

Well what a fantastic restaurant! Staff very helpful the place is very clean and well organised! I ordered to eat out and it was for four of us plus starters and mains and it was fab ! Chicken is always a tricky one to master for takeaways but this place has it spot on I had the garlic shahi Baltic and my god it was cooked to perfection! If you are looking for a tasty treat locally then this is perfect and with an extra 10% off if you collect too I just have no complaints at all, great place I highly recommend, keep up the good work fellas don’t slip like other places nearby !!!

Delicious food offering a varied menu that’s different to the usual bog standard curry places, I also didn’t feel bloated or sluggish after it which I usually do when I’ve had a curry. Good relaxed atmosphere and not boiling hot in there (which is ideal when you’re eating spicy food anyway) compliments to the chef and also amazing value, will definitely be coming back

Had a takeaway for the first time from here, poppadoms tasted greasy, onion bhajis were soggy, chicken tikka Ceylon was just crazy hot with no decernable taste, chicken tikka masala was extremely overpoweringly sweet, absolute rubbish! My first attempt at a curry at home was way better than this bin fodder! Cut out the middle man and throw your money in the bin which is pretty much what I've just done.

Get a takeaway from here every week and it’s always so tasty - the best Madras! Friendly staff too - 100% recommend.

We ordered from this amazing restaurant with great expectations and they did not disappoint. Without going into too much detail there was an issue with our meal that was dealt with so incredibly proffesionly we were left the happiest customers in the world! Aside from this point the food itself was way above standard and just so tasty. The portion sizes are great, the service, speed and management are second to none but above all the food is some of the best and most authentic Indian cuisine we've had since our journeys all over India. A true gem that Stalybridge should be proud of.

As restaurants reopen a lot of places due to losing revenue have increased prices, done away with deals and the take your own wine option removed. Not the swaadesh. Had a great meal on the fixed price menu were you can have pretty much anything. Poppodoms Onion Bhajis and tandoori platter A chicken curry and a lamb curry Pilau rice and a Nan bread All came in at around £32. The place was not busy, nothing to do with the food more to do with these unprecedented times. The only critique is the interior it is a little cafe like with furnishings and bright lighting. That aside we will go back without hesitation. Food and service was spot on.

This is easily our favourite place to eat locally and probably our favourite Indian restaurant. Service is always impeccable as swift. Excellent value and a really interesting range of dishes available. The set menu offer is particularly good value and very flexible. Food always piping hot and fresh tasting. We regularly try a different dish on every visit and have yet to be disappointed. Bring your own booze always a winner, and the staff are more than happy to provide ice buckets and suitable glasses and bottle openers. Facilities always pristine too. Wouldn’t change a thing. Don’t forget to order the coffee at the end of your meal, it’s lovely!

Myself and my partner eat at swaadesh or get takeaways quite regularly. The foods always great, the staff and owners are lovely and very attentive. Can’t recommend enough

5 of us went last night all had different starters and main, the food was fabulous. The restaurant was absolutely packed as it was bank holiday and the last day of eat out to help out.The service was as good as ever, the waiter’s was immaculately dressed.

Been too curry houses from Aberdeen to London and this one is a diamond in the north. Tried the 4 course with optional lamb shank Bhuna. You can bring your own alcohol too and the staff are very freindly

We picked a take a way up from here during lockdown and it is still the best around, having eaten in and had take outs on many occasions before we were not really surprised on the quality, well done for re opening after a month out isolating, we will be back soon

came here with three lads , the place was quite quiet, it doesn't have a licence so you take your own alcoholWe had poppadums and I tried the keema rice ( with mincemeat) and then a south indian chicken bhuna which was nicedid seem a bit of a challenge to get staff attention to pay the billthe food was nice and a good location ,reasonable trice and I would come here again

This was our 4th year booking for Christmas Day. 2 many to accommodate at home and everyone loves a good ruby. Had a great time the management and staff are tremendous. Food as good as ever. Looked after and well fed. Merry Christmas 🥰🥂

2nd time we have come for NYE. lots of times in between as well. Beat Indian in the area by a country mile. Staff amazingly friendly, was a set menu but told if I wanted something different, not a problem. Not rushed out the door at all. Place was jam packed when we got in at 830, full of family bookings too. Great environment and atmosphere. The food here is just beautiful. We used to go to Umeeds further down the village, but got very disappointed after a while as the service dived. Swaadesh just keeps getting better. Never had a bad meal and would dine there every night if I could. Be back soon guys.

7 of us visited the restaurant and couldn't fault it. We all got the £16.95 5-course deal (£13.95 on weekdays) and thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Was quiet as we arrived at 5pm, but it soon started to fill up which added to the atmosphere. Good sized ice cream for desert which you don't get at other places we've been to with a deal. Would all definitely return and recommend!

Not been before but all 4 of us had a great time. I visit lots if Indian restaurants but there were dishes on the menu I had not seen before.We had the £16.95 menu and had lots of great food and big portions, fantastic value for money.We took our own booze and the staff were quick to sort glasses out for us.All in all a great visit and we will be going back again

This is simply the best Indian restaurant around, value for money is great but the food is exceptional, we have stopped trying others now because they can't compare.

I assume this place is so popular because of it's location and the fact you can bring your own alcohol. It certainly can't be because of the food. No better than any other standard curry house. Ordered a vegetable curry which according to the arrogant young waiter means a potato curry. Literally not a single vegetable in sight! Politely asked for some veg for my curry and was met with a really bad attitude. Won't be eating here again.

We have just had another perfect curry here, lamb chops were amazing, Madras sauce fantastic, mushroom pilau beautiful, great host what more do you want, take your own booze is always a massive bonus, by far the best curry in this area.

Great food, great value, great service! And the best lamb madras I've ever tasted - sauce is spicy & flavoursome, with tender pieces of lamb. A real gem of a restaurant, highly recommended for both sit-in & takeaway...and it's not far from my house! Brilliant!

The staff are always welcoming and friendly. The food is great with plenty of choices, plus all of these can be included on the set meal deal making it fantastic value. We have been several times and taken friends and family on occasion. Weekend booking recommended as they can get quite busy at times, which is the sign of a good restaurant

Only ever heard great things about the Swaadesh so last night a group of ten of us ventured in, We really wasn't to be disappointed & was treated like royalty from the moment we arrived, actually reminded me of the scene from coming to America when Rose petals were sprinkled on the floor wherever the young Prince went, that's how much the waiters looked after you. Another bonus was taking your own alcohol which always helps save the pennies. No corkage charge either so yet again another result.

Called on a spur of the moment visit having been recommended by a friend. Picked up a bottle of wine on the way as you can take your own alcohol and they don’t charge a corkage fee. Excellent selection on their midweek deal and good sized portions when the food arrived. Overall good quality dishes and great value. We wii definitely call again.

We recently had my fathers 60th birthday party for 40 people and the food was ANAZING the staff were very accommodating! I would Highly recommend 👏👏

I’m sorry to say this but the last 3 meals I have eaten here have not been great. Two chicken dishes had really hard bland chicken. So I give the lamb a try this time and that was even worse. My partner had a leg of lamb dish he loved but then recently a prawn dish that was really watery. The people that work here are good hence the 3 stars but after giving this place 3 more chances I’ll be going elsewhere for the time being. I don’t know what they do with the poultry and meat but 3 times in a row is not a one off. Sadly.

Another visit to Swaadesh tonight just me and the hubby. As usual the staff are friendly and attentive. The music is atmospheric and not too loud.even when we arrive as a family of five or even 15 the staff are always prompt and polite. Now onto the food fantastic fresh ingredients cooked in the kitchen at the back of the restaurant where you can see through the window the excellent chefs at work. Delicious whether you’re taste is hot or a little milder. Will keep coming back again and again . Why not try it and take you’re own alcohol with you.

My daughter and I visited on a Saturday evening. The restaurant was quite busy but not noisy and the tables were adequately spaced out. We brought our own wine, for which a wine bucket was immediately provided. We ordered the set menu but my daughter (who had visited previously) asked that both her starter and main course be ‘customised’ a little. The waiter pleasantly accommodated her requests. The food and service were both great. Our left over food was packaged up to take away without problem.

This restaurant truely deserves to be number 1. Food is always tasty & plentyful & the staff are friendly, efficient & can’t do enough for you. Always a memorable experience & exceptional value for money. See you soon guys & thank you again. Barbara

Finding that perfect curry, is like searching for king Solomons mines. They are hard to find. Yet, now and again you strike it lucky. Today we found a curry treasure. Swaadesh served us the most beautiful of curries. It was like our taste buds were transported to a lost exotic time. I encourage anybody who likes a good curry, to try this gem.

Would highly recommend this place we come here as a family regularly the food is amazing we have special set menu and the staff are very hospitable and the atmosphere is very family orientated. Would recommend to anybody!

I just find the hospitality superb and the attendant staff personable without the robotics. Dined last saturday and had a main course wich was not on the menu,absolutely beautiful. The atmosphere is so relaxed its my favourite go to Indian restaurant in Tameside........Well done

We went here for the first time last night. There were 3 of us. The starter was nice. Paneer kebab, seekh kebab and a creamy mushroom puri. All tasted OK. The mains came I ordered a medium curry but asked for it to be spiced up a bit. Husband ordered a hot and my friend a mild. It came, mine had no spice what so ever. Neither did hubbys but he said it didn't matter. Now I like spice so I asked why it had no spice at all. He said it came like that. I argued I asked for medium to hot and that's there's no spice. He said he will change it. He came back and said taste. I said oh so what you have done it taken it away added chilli powder and brought it back. He replied yes. So I said that's not really the way to do it is it. He then started to tell me in an indian restaurant you wont get spice as people done like it and that I should have asked for it spicier, which I had. Having worked for a number of indian restaurants in Tameside, I made him aware. His attitude was appalling. However when the other guy came over he was pleasant and took it on board. They knocked a little off the bill which was a nice gesture and also gave me and my friend a rose each. Not sure if I would return to be honest.

We ate here last night (Saturday) for my sister's birthday. This restaurant is unlicensed so you take your own alcohol. This was fine but when we were asking for soft drinks (to mix with our spirits) the waiters seemed a bit surprised they were having to serve drinks which was strange. The waiter came to take our orders (we were a table of 13) this was very chaotic and the waiter kept asking for confirmation of what he had written down which is very conscientious but on a long table of 13 people we all had absolutely no idea what the people at the other side of the table had ordered so couldn't really help him. In the end we got a garlic and coriander naan bread we didn't order and a lamb saag instead of a mixed saag. The food was nice but not amazing and it took over an hour from ordering before we got our starters. I can forgive them for this because we were such a large table but we didn't leave the restaurant until 9.45pm after arriving at 7pm...We asked for the bill instead of having our dessert/coffees which were part of the set menu we had ordered because we didn't want to be in there any longer. I would give this restaurant another go if I was with a smaller group as they did seem to struggle with a big group. The lovely waiter at the end of the meal gave all the ladies a rose which was a very nice touch....Sorry I couldn't write a better review!

Well, this was our first time here and we will be going back. Where do i start. The service was amazing they couldn't have done more to make the experience better. The food was beautifully.

It was the first time I have been here and went following a recommendation from my daughter who goes their quite often.There were 10 of us and we all had a range of meals and starters.One or two were quite bland but mine was very nice.I would go there again as I have had a lot worse.Just to confirm its not licenced so you take ypur own alcohol.

Have been going here for takeaways and dining in since the the day it opened. Never had a single bad meal, bad service or bad delivery. The staff are amazing and will always go the extra mile. The food is consistently tasty, fresh, and hot.

Went in on early Saturday evening, lovely food friendly staff, only thing I’d say is the portions aren’t very big, didn’t get a lot of rice or much Chicken pieces. But food was delicious.

Another great meal last night. This is by far the best Indian restaurant in area. Dishes are out of this world & unbelievable value for money. Family run & it shows, always great attentive service from everyone. This restaurant truly deserves number one on trip advisor. Give them a try, you won’t be disappointed. The music is just right and the atmosphere pleasant. The food is gorgeous never had a bad meal here and often have take away as well. Good for couples as well as large groups.

Oh my! Curries to blow your mind, and unbelievable value. The £14.95 midweek special gets you popadums and dips, a starter, a main, a rice or nan, and ice cream or coffee. We started with the tandoori lamb chops and shami kebabs. Both were absolutely stunning. We like our curries fruity and mild, so shared a lamb Malaya (cashews, almonds, pistachios and peanuts in a sweet rose water sauce - delicate and crunchy) and chicken Rajshani (honey, cinnamon and mango - with mango chunks surviving the cooking process). Each delivered bursts of incredible flavour and each mouthful managed to be different. This is spice blending at master level. Just tucking into our ice creams now. Stuffed but happy! The staff are friendly and relaxed. Despite there being a party of 14 boisterous lads in, just before us, the chefs managed to bring out our food in great time. What a find. We will be back.

My partner and I visited Swaadesh on the recommendation of a friend and we were not disappointed. The staff/manager were polite and gave us a choice of table, with the exception of a table that was laid out for a fairly party. The food we ordered, from the starters to the main course was excellent and served piping hot. The idea of bringing your own alcohol is very good and the glasses they provided were spotless. We will most certainly visit again.

Went on a weekday where they have an amazing offer of a 5 course meal. Absolutely well worth the money, food is amazing. Staff are lovely & friendly. Defo recommend. And I'll be visiting again soon :)

Had the best Indian meal every in Stalybridge here last night excellent customer service given by all staff thought the rose at the end of the meal given to the ladies was a lovely touch I even went out my comfort zone and ordered something I had never tried before as the selection on the menu is extensive so much choice given this definitely my choice of reastarnts in the future

Just had a delivery from here and the food was still hot on arrival and was absolutely beautiful, I have ordered the same meal from other places and never had it as good as good as from here!

I was told we were going out for few drinks and he all family arrived and was told having meal at swadeesh arrived all tables put together and decorated lovely staff were more than helpful brought us menus even catered for fussy children we’ve been back a few times since as the food is amazing and so clean and fresh would definitely recommend this place

I have reviewed this restaurant before and have re-visited regularly. It is always very clean, the service is always faultless and the food is outstanding. My wife likes mainly vegetarian dishes and this restaurant always succeeds in producing an interesting fresh dish. It is also good for meat eaters. It is a byo and does not charge for corkage. What great value!

Visited early Saturday evening, friendly welcome, efficient friendly service, really tasty food, had set meal at £14 which was good value. Take your own drinks which works for us, bucket & ice quickly brought to the table for our vino. As was early it was very quiet which we like. Look forward to our next visit.

Ordered a take away with friends, everything going well right up until my wife was chewing on a hair!! OMG not good. We telephoned to let them them know, they offered a free meal, but it only takes once for this to stop you ordering!!!

Visited on a Monday evening which meant it was fairly quiet. The staff were very friendly, the place itself was absolutely spotlessly clean which impressed us. The food was delicious. My father in law had the lamb shank and I had the tandoori mixed grill. Everything was cooked perfectly and the meat was tender and flavoursome. The portion sizes were plentiful and we left feeling very satisfied. We will definitely visit this place again, and being able to take your own alcoholic drinks in is a welcome bonus!

Every time I go it's an absolute delight. A bottle of red and a five course deal, what a treat! Have to recommend the mixed tandoori starter and then either Pathia or Samber for main. Can't fault the taste or price. They never skimp on the poppadom tracklements either.

Staff very friendly and professional. Toilets immaculate with disposable hand towels which is a pleasant bonus! Absolutely delicious food - very fresh!! What a hidden gem this place is. We love Swaadesh and are frequent visitors. The food is consistently good and we have always had excellent service.

We had a great evening at Swaadesh for a 70th birthday family celebration, with ten guests. The food was excellent with plenty of carnivorous and vegetarian options, and the fixed price menu very reasonable, and it makes a nice change to take your own wine along - plenty of glasses and ice buckets were provided for fizz without us even having to ask. Very friendly and attentive waiters, and they were more than happy to bring out the birthday cake that we'd supplied, even putting in an impressive sparkler candle which the birthday girl loved! Thanks again, we'll be back.

The food is amazing, the two guys they have providing table service are always really friendly and happy to help. You can make special requests of the chefs and they'll cook it for you. I really like spicy and sweet curries which is an odd flavour combo, but if you ask them to throw chilli into a pasanda, they will do! Portion sizes are always really good (And I'm a big guy) but I can rarely finish everything.

Good service food good but sauces are a bit insipid now and then could do with being a bit more adventurous in the kitchen, I have asked for a bit more “Passaz” but have never been accommodated in my request , I a willing to keep trying though, I feel they could achieve greatness with just a little more effort.

Our group of dedicated curry connoisseurs voted this as the winning venue for the second year running so we were all eager to sample their excellent cuisine once again.

We visited Swaadesh for the first time and was soon found a table even though we hadn't booked on an extremely busy night just before Christmas. The food was excellent and staff friendly and nothing was to much trouble. I will definitely be visiting there again.

Had our works Xmas meal here. Never been before. Went for usual prawn puri followed by shashlik chicken korai. Both dishes were amazing. If only I lived closer this would be a regular for me.

We had been recommended to come here for so long and have only just managed to get here. However from start to finish everything from service, cleanliness, staff, and of course the food has been absolutely exceptional. We had a 5 course meal at 13.95 per head Sunday-thurs and only 14.95 Friday and Saturday. Anything on the menu for the 5 course too, not just selected choices. The staff are so so so lovely and we have enjoyed everything. Can’t wait to return!! 5*****

The food and service were excellent, as was the value for money. My only niggle was that the food wasn't on warmers and. I like the temperature of my food to be really hot and it wasn't t quite hot enough for me.

After sampling most Curry joints in and around the Tameside area over the years ,we keep going back to Swaadesh in Stalybridge .Consistant with the quality,taste,portion and presentation foodwise,friendly promt service ,in a nice relaxed atmosphere and pound for pound a winner on all fronts.

A neighbour recommended the restaurant to us. Upon arrival we were greeted in a very friendly, welcoming manner. The menu was full and varied. When the food arrived it was presented very professionally and all courses proved to be of excellent quality, a big plus is that you can take your own alcoholic drinks. The food prices are very reasonable and the ladies were presented with a rose when leaving. The waiters were attentive without being overbearing. A thoroughly enjoyable experience which we will repeat.

We met up with friends who we haven’t seen since our army days they drove across from Chesterfield.

One of my favorite places to eat. I always enjoy coming here with Family and Friends and I never leave hungry - so much food for such great value! The restaurant is clean, friendly and welcoming. It is a bring your own Beer restaurant too which is really nice, staff are happy to keep you stocked up on clean glasses and ice - and non alcoholic drinks if you prefer.

Been here lots of times and has always the food was really really good. The staff are always polite and helpful. Lamb chops are amazing. If it's not on menu just ask the will oblige.

We use to visit Swaadesh regularly and were always impressed by the food and friendliness. However,.. on Sunday 16th June we visited the restaurant. The food was exceptional. The restaurant wasn't busy, only 3 other tables being used. We reached the end of the main course and we were brought hot towels and orange slices. My wife picked up a slice, only to find that it had already been bitten and sucked free of juice !
