Kakoli in Tameside

In the area for 1 night so decided to try this restaurant. Small, intimate restaurant that isn’t licensed, however they’re more than happy to let you bring your own alcohol for nothing. I have travelled up and down the country on Jalfrezi’s but have to say this Jalfrezi is one of the most tastiest I have ever tasted. Absolutely delicious. 3 of us in party and the other 2 also said their dishes were delicious. Well recommended 👍

Had a takeaway delivered within the 45mins they said which was excellent. Onion bhajis were gorgeous. Lamb madras had lots of meat in it. Best lamb madras I've ever had. Had takeaways and sat in . Every time the food has been lovely

Amazing service, even better food. Hidden gem. We went Kakoli last night & it did not disappoint! The chilli chicken masala is the best we have ever tasted. We always judge an Indian by the chucky tray, if the popadoms & chunky are nice you know the meal is going to be even better. 10/10 we will defo come back. Great service & the chef even popped out to see how the food was.

This restaurant feeds two for £40, including two soft drinks (bring your own alcohol). The food is excellent, the staff are attentive. You won’t find much better in Manchester, and especially not at this price point.

We got a prawn puri/tandoori special/mixed grill platter/prawn jalfrezi all of which where hot and fresh. Full of flavour with a nice kick. Not too spicy for the kids but nice flavour for the adults to enjoy it to. Staff are very happy to take on any feedback and ways to improve since another family member has taken over the running of the business. Prices are reasonable too. Other than some feedback i had already provided staff we throroughly enjoyed our meal

I ate here and then the next day I almost passed away , the bacteria is everywhere all over food making Ricardo critical condition. Guys do not eat this unless you like taking many poo.

Already been back a few times since my last review and each time it keeps getting better. The restaurant has also taken on previous feedback and let us fully enjoy the meal, not taking away any dishes or plates until we were completely finished. We went on a busy Saturday evening and were not hurried, the service was spot on and they truly care for their customers, This is a bring your own alcohol restaurant and as such can get a bit lively with some of the customers but it’s a great atmosphere. Also great the music has now been turned down too so everyone can have a proper conversation. The food is outstanding and really good value for money. I cannot get enough of the paneer pakora starter and the sizzler mains are a real showpiece! Can’t wait to come back again very soon.

Me and my wife decided to try here after reading some good reviews in early April what a disappointment it was, we were rushed from the moment we walked in and the place was more or less empty, the food was very bland and tasteless they don’t serve alcohol so can’t comment on the drinks the price was reasonable but you get what you pay for I suppose we won’t be going again that’s for sure.

Fabulous food yesterday, great friendly service. Definitely recommend a trip there to try the curries for yourself. Went again on Sunday. The food was even better than before! Service great again. You can now bring your own wine or beer if you want to. So good we have just recommended it to some of our friends and a few people we met yesterday. We are going to try a takeaway soon. Update- we recently ordered a takeaway. As before when we ate at the restaurant, the takeaway was delicious! Chicken Korai, yummy! Highly recommend trying it yourself and visiting the restaurant. ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We ordered for the first time on 13/02/24 and the food was amazing good portion sizes and impeccable taste, nothing but good reviews. However we ordered again today (03/03/24) and as lovely as the food tasted the portion sizes on the curry have depleted indefinitely also the salt and pepper chips the first time were perfectly cooked and included lots of fresh onion and peppers and tonight we received half a portion of chips barely cooked in any seasonings. It’s a shame to leave a bad review as the curry’s are still lovely however the portion size has changed and the price is the same ? *edit* Since leaving my review they have contacted me and have offered to bring another portion of chips and apologised that I was disappointed in my order. Excellent at response to my feedback . Customer service is 10/10.

We have not been to Kakoli for some time and were worried that the changes might have altered it but no, it was absolutely superb. The food was delicious and the service perfect. As Southerners we found the price very cheap, a lot less than we would pay! You can take your own alcohol with no corkage charge which is excellent. You were neither rushed not kept waiting. We will retunn.

First time ordering from here and it was lovely. The food was gorgeous! This will be our go to Indian going forward

Weve not ate from here for a couple of years so glad we decided to again The food was absolutely amazing really hot and so fresh and tasty and a great price I think it's the best chicken tikka massala I've had and they still do the great chunky chips which are lovely. Last night we ordered a takeaway for 4 on their website and set a time for 7.50. After it was 15 mins late we tried to contact them by phone but it just rang out so my husband had to drive to the takeaway which defeats the object of ordering a takeaway but as we couldn’t contact them we had no choice. When he arrived he was told it hadn’t come through on the machine. He sat and waited for it to be cooked and while he was waiting he noticed how dirty the place was. While he waiting a couple came in and ordered some poppadoms and when the waiter brought them the couple had to ask him to come back and bring some plates. Also the phone was constantly ringing and when my husband asked them why they don’t answer the phone he said they do but it was clearly obvious they were just ignoring it. When my husband came home we put the food out to find the poppadoms were that stale we could have bounced them across the room, the food was cold which was strange as my husband had collected it so called freshly cooked. The nan bread was burnt. The onion rice had no flavour whatsoever and the vindaloo was like eating a dessert it was that sweet. We had ordered a fusion burger with no salad and no sauce for my son and that came with salad and sauce. The whole lot went into the bin. So disappointed and hungry and £48 pound out of pocket.

Ordered from here last night at 6pm,was told 45 mins to 1hour delivery time,at 7.30 food still hadn't arrived,rang up and they didn't answer the phone so rang back again,eventually they answered,I was told he would check out what's happened then he hung up,another 15 mins went by and still no food so I rang again, was told he will be with you in a minute and he hung up again,food finally came after over 2 hours.popadoms were stale,no salad with the starter,chicken in the curry was rubbery,and everything was stone cold,a waste of over 30pound,never again

There is a lot of room for improvement, and there is a wait to be expected for the food. Once I received the food it was really nice.

Arrived for a meal for 10 was lead up stairs with a couple of tables together given a plate of poppadoms that was stale when we asked for some fresh ones they were also stale. Then We were informed that they didn't sell spirits so the girls asked for a bottle of whine and they brought a 5.5 percent echo falls we also ordered a couple pints of lager and they were flat at this point I didn't want to order any food and walked out.

Terrible. It reminded me of an episode of Faulty Towers. I could hear the staff in the kitchen being shouted at and waiters rushing around the dinning room but not doing anything productive. One waiter had more food on his tee shirt than I saw being served. I had a booking for 7pm, we arrived at 6.45. There were 3 other tables occupied one was finishing the other 2 were waiting for food. One table complained they had been there 1 and a half hours and were still waiting for their starters. The second table said they had been there an hour and only had drinks, no food yet. Another couple came in and were seated underneath the stairs, along with Henry the hoover, which was under his chair! There was food and curry sauce on the floor which had been dropped by the waiter but hadn't been cleaned up, another customer pointed it out to my partner as he nearly got it all over his coat when he hung it over the back of his chair, the waiters just kept stepping over it, no attempt was made to clean it up. I had to put my coat back on as it was so cold, and I noticed all the other customers had their coats on too. After around 25 minutes of watching complete utter chaos I told the waiter to cancel my order as we weren't staying, he asked me why, I told him it was so cold in here I wouldn't be comfortable eating and everyone else had their coats on too, he said he would sort it out, in my opinion that should have been done when they opened at 5pm. We had ordered drinks, a Beer and a coke, the coke was flat and warm, it was poured from a large bottle not individual cans or small bottles, I left £5 on the table for the drinks and left to go to another restaurant. I can't comment on the qaulity of the food as we didn't stay to eat. If you look at the reviews a week or so previous to this one, all with 5 star reviews, it is pretty obvious they are reviews from friends or relatives of the owners as in different reviews they used the same picture of food even though they are a week apart, I find this a dishonest way way draw people in. I only wish we had spotted it before we booked. I will never be going back here.

One of the worst restaurants I’ve ever been to complete shambles. The place was freezing customers have the coats on eating their food. The waiter had food down his T-shirt. There was curry on the floor, not being cleaned up. I will never set foot in this complete shambles of a restaurant again. I’m amazed that anybody can you give this a five star review, unless the people who are giving a five star reviews either work for the restaurant or are friends of the owners. There is no way this is worth more than one star.

The food is so good. The best and only reason you need to come back it honestly is. At the moment the service is not amazing as the staff are flustered as they are not used to so much demand and custom, but give them 2/3 weeks and they will be all over it. Please be patient and understanding when you go in that they are still trying to get used to the demand and custom and you will not be disappointed as the food is amazing. If you go weekends please book a table in advance or you will get turned away as we saw 4 groups turned away as they was full when we went on a Saturday at 7pm. We booked are table in advance and we are so glad we did as when we walked in our table was reserved and no other tables were free.

This is such a hidden gem and curries that are out of this world, truly authentic and bursting with flavour. The staff are warm and friendly and really care for their customers. Prices are very competitive for both the food and drink. You can get poppadums with dips, 2 starters, 2 curries, rice, naan and a couple of pints of cobra all for less than £50. If you’re ever close to Edge Lane metro link please give this place a visit. If you’re driving you can park for free of an evening right outside. I will be back again very soon.

This is a great curry house. The food is exceptional and I would honestly say the menu is under priced. My partner and I are likely to be monthly visitors and that is the greatest compliment I can give. The decor is limited but this does not detract from a hugely enjoyable restaurant experience, and substance definitely triumphs over style in this case : - )

Visited here on a Bank holiday weekend and was not disappointed. Service was exceptional as always and the food was fantastic. Highly recommend the beef dopiaza - meat was so tender and plenty of onions in the curry. Poppadums, a starter, 2 mains, rice and bread all washed down with a couple of pints of Cobra was just £32. Real value for money and the pictures speak for themselves. Will be back again soon :-)

I’ve not been back here for a couple of years and delighted to report the food is still as fabulous as ever. The young waiter was warm and friendly where nothing was too much trouble. Service was efficient and served with a smile. Highlight of the meal was the mixed starter and the chicken tikka jalfrezi for the main - bursting with flavour, perfectly balanced with sweet onions and peppers. The prices are an absolute bargain. Papadums, 2 starters, 2 mains, pilau rice and garlic naan all washed down with cobra on draft came to only £34. If you want a great value curry in relaxed surroundings this is the place to go. I will certainly be back again soon :-)

Waiter shabbily dressed in a tracksuit. Chicken dry and tough and the curry sauces were cold and had no taste. Even the madras sauce was very bland. Tried the place. Wouldn't go again certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Just come home here and quite disappointed. We are regulars here but tonight wasnt happy. We was the only ones in and didnt get sauces so go with our starters or salad so we had to ask . When the salad came I noticed the cucumber had had a bite took out of it half way so it wasnt fresh salad. And when we got the bill they didnt item every thing like they usually do so I think the price had been made up as it was alot more expensive this time round. not sure if to go back as using old salad from peoples left overs is bad !!

Friday night 1930. I was the only customer. I really felt that the waiter would rather I hadn't come in. No sauce offered for bhaji. Although he did bring coriander when asked. Jalfrezi bland at best, nan bread reasonable. Music muffled and ambience naff. They apparently are not VAT registered! Really? The fabulous Indian plaza is not far away, it's twice the price but 4 times better.

The only good thing about this place was the service.

Went here with my Mum on a Friday evening. The restaurant quickly filled up and plenty of people dropping in to collect a take-away which is always a good sign. Service is warm, friendly and efficient. Food is excellent quality and superb value for money. 2 starters, 2 curries, rice, a couple of breads and poppadums all washed down with a G&T was only just over £30. The restaurant is also in a great location right next to Edge Lane metrolink stop. Will let my pictures do the talking. Look forward to dining here again soon.

We ate at Kakoli for the 1st time tonight, and I must say the food was lovely and service was great and fresh, my wife said it was the best paneer she has had in a very long time, we will definitely be visiting again.

I really hope I've got this wrong but I cant see anywhere about this place not opening today 5pm. website says it's open. As a family of 4 we all disided to pick somewhere of our choice to eat out for tea thinking outside the box so to speak of where we normally go. turned up at 17.45 to find the place closed in darkness. On route to the pearl in audenshaw where we normally go,should of just gone here in the first place but hey ho you try to keep local business afloat.

Went for meal with my partner we had a Onion Baji & meat Samosa starter which were obviously made in house and very good they were too, we then had a Beef Rogan Josh & a Beef Vindaloo with a pilau rice & a Bombay Potato side dish & 2 Chapatis. When i explained that i only wanted cold water to drink as i dont do Beer or soft drinks there was no problem at all not like ive ecountered in other places sadly, all in all a vey enjoyable cosy place to visit we will definenatly be visiting again
