You'll struggle to find a restaurant in Tameside with better service than this place. It only opened a couple of years ago but it's always packed out. A lot of people's favourite Indian restaurant and I can see why. Top, top place.

First time coming to this restaurant with my partner, the decor was beautiful, the service was first class by the waiter Abu who went above and beyond to make our first experience memorable. The food if I could give higher than 5 stars I would give it ten. Definitely coming here again with my partner and will try more of their lovely food

We booked a table for 7pm on Saturday 18th January for 3 people. We arrived at 6:50pm to find the restaurant was packed out. The waiting area was getting busy too. It appeared that there wasn't much organisation with lots of staff walking around with takeaway orders, not being able to find the people who had ordered the takeaways! In the waiting area in addition to us, was a party of 3 and a party of 4 - all booked in for 7pm. At 7:40pm we were on the point of walking out, having located another Indian restaurant nearby that we were going to go to instead, when we were shown to our table. The other 2 parties were still waiting for their table! (we noticed the party of 3 got seated at 7:55pm, not sure what time the party of 4 were seated). We ordered our food and hoped everything would be ok...... They brought the poppadums, and had brought 2 less than we had ordered. We had ordered a Vegetable mixed starter, and they brought a Meat one instead! We told the staff, and they let us keep the Meat one for free and promptly brought out the one we had ordered. The main courses arrived (everything as ordered this time). Although one of our party was slightly dissappointed with their meal, as it wasn't as spicy as expected. Overall the food was very good. When the bill arrived, we were pleasantly suprised at how good value it was. Overall, we enjoyed our meals, however they need to sort out table reservations to make sure that tables are available for when they have been reserved - and if they don't have a free table at the time you want to reserve one, they should not be accepting the booking, thinking that it is ok to keep you waiting!

Hamza was our server tonight. Whilst serving a table of 30!., he managed to be attentive and you could tell he really cared about his job. Atmosphere and setting was amazing, would highly recommend to any curry novice or veteran. Pure class 👌

Wonderful service and food. Only downside was overcharged by £10 on the card machine as I didn't look before I paid.

The food was outstanding, the family friendly atmosphere and lovey staff made this the best Indian restaurant we have visited. Highly recommend the onion bhajis, 10/10! For the main course we asked for staff recommendations and couldn’t fault it at all. Would very highly recommend!

I was really disappointed in my most resent visit to mahal having previously had great experiences. Went for New Year’s Eve and the entertainment made it extremely challenging to have an enjoyable time. The music was far too loud for a dining experience and not at all mindful of the audience of family’s and elderly relatives present. Was also very disappointed with an hair being found in my sauce and a bottle cap found in my drink which was mistaken for ice.

2 part review here first time was a couple of months ago where 8 of us dined here and it wasn't great, first the plates were cold and 4 of us had Luke warm food not only that there was no heat in the spicyness of the Currys. We sent these back and fresh ones came which were roasting this time but again no spice to the dishes. We was asked how is the meal and we told them the manager went away and came back and apologised he explained what happened with the chef and gave us a round of drinks he was very apologetic so I held my review because of that. Now back to the other day 4 of us ate there to give it a 2nd chance and it lived up to its reviews it was excellent the staff so friendly and efficient the starters were fresh and tasty especially the lamb chops. My madras main had it's lost spice from last time so I was happy and it tasted great. On a final note my lad left some butter chicken and rice and wanted it bagging up they took it away and the waiter got mixed up and gave us a tub of rice lol he rushed off and had a fresh butter chicken made so a bug kudos for sorting that out he was a top server and a nice young lad. I will certainly come back again. Sorry for the long post

Always a warm welcome, lovely service with smile, excellent food and go that extra mile on special occasions. Last night, due to illness, I couldn't go to my son's birthday evening. I took a card, arranging for someone at the restaurant to collect it from my car - they were brilliant - thank you so much. Went to Mahal again last night for a family meal. Amazing food. As we enjoyed a warm welcome from the staff, who provided an excellent service with a smile. Thank you so much.

Bit disappointed on this visit. Chicken tikka korai was a bit tasteless,dry and too many onions so left feeling disappointed. However service and and atmosphere 10/10. Come on Ali what’s going on ☹️

Can't rate this place highly enough, if I could give 6 stars I would. The staff are awesome, the owner/manager is brilliant and takes his time to get to know his customers. The food is next level good. Weather you want something really spicy like the Nepalese or Gorkali or something sweet and mild like the tika masala. Fantastic sea food curry section with a wide array of choices. Price is really good and portion sizes are generous. All in all it's great and my go to place however I feel. Sad... have mahal curry and feel better. Celebrating.... have a mahal curry and celebrate Tired... well you get the idea.

Favourite curry house in Stalybridge

The food was delicious, but the restaurant was cold, which spoilt the meal. One of our diners had to wait for his meal, which meant the rest of the meals were just warm. Good value for money but not sure I would go in winter again, a shame as the food was lovely.

we are curry mile regulars but this stunning beautiful restaurant is a amazing place based in the tameside area , the owner is a amazing host and makes you feel your very special stunning sincere gentleman the staff is amazing ,but it's about the food why would a stranger take my word for it but il challenge them to beat this for flavours freshness and 100% the best I've ever tasted seekh kebab was thicker than normal and had spices in never tasted before stunning ,, we asked the recommendation for main wow the spinach and garlic lamb curry blown me away ,we could go on but challenge to find a better curry house around well done to the owner and staff seeya soon Simon and Carrie x

Several of my friends have been Raving about this place so it was time to give it a try, The smartly dressed owner is always around and greats you with a smile and very friendly which rubs onto his staff, food delicious and fresh, deserves all the praise they are getting, well done

Struggling to find a curry in Greater Manchester? Well, in my opinion, Mahal is one of the best curry houses in all of Manchester (maybe the UK) and let me tell you why… First off, let’s start with the interior. The design is so cool and there even is a water feature at one of the tables (in pictures). Furthermore, the atmosphere is really relaxed - the perfect atmosphere for a curry house! Most importantly though, the staff weren’t good. They were great. In fact, they were some of the best staff I have ever seen. They are so kind and they treat you like royalty, and they will do their very best to take care of you, something I think every other restaurant needs. Now let’s start with the food. I ordered a Mango Lassi and let me tell you, it is the best Mango Lassi you will find in Greater Manchester. It is so sweet, thick and creamy that it becomes borderline delicious and addictive. It pairs well with spicy dishes as well. As appetisers, I had roasted poppadoms. They were so crispy and had a smoky flavour, while the tray of chutneys was delicious. As starters, I had an onion bhaji. It was nice and crispy. Also, an honourable mention for the lamb chops. They were so succulent, flavourful, and tender that they were the perfect starter. For mains, I had the Ceylon curry. The Ceylon is a blend of delicious Sri Lankan spices - a must-try from me! The chicken was so tender as well! But the main event for me was the Peshwari Naan. This is a naan but it comes with a twist - crushed, sweet almonds are inside the naan. The almonds give the naan depth, making the naan even better! Also, the naan was perfect for soaking up curries - which is a great thing! The Pilau rice was also nice. Overall, this place is amazing. You need to try this place - it is essential to try! Mahal is the best Indian restaurant I’ve been to. The food is absolutely beautiful. The lamb chops main is to die for. The service was outstanding from Hamza and Abu. They treated me and my family with so much love and respect. Definitely coming back!

Our first visit to Mahal but it won’t be our last. Between the 4 of us we had a variety of dishes and everyone said how nice the food was. The service was excellent, a very friendly team and when we got the bill there were no nasty surprises it was fine-can’t wait to go back.

This restaurant has been a fond favourite of mine from the day it opened its doors now. I honestly cannot fault it, I've been countless times and never had a bad experience, it never fails to blow me away! The service, staff, food and drinks are always unbeatable! First I thought the lady on the phone was absolutly lovely. Secondly I dont normally get that many takeaways as I am normally quite fussy on where I eat. However this food was absolutly geuoarges one of the best i have had.

Staff were rude, also shouting at other staff members, the whole restaurant stunk of cigarette smoke, when I went to the toilet I could see the chef smoking a cigarette with no shoes on, in the cellar

I went there based on the rating on google but just to realize that restaurants shouldn't be chosen based on ratings alone. I ordered prawn cocktail as a starter which was just okay. For the mains we ordered mixed grill sizzler and chicken biryani. Sizzler looked tempting but tasteless. Biryani was nowhere near to how biryani should be. It was flavourless and no seasoning at all. Hardly ate anything while I was starving. Wouldn't recommend anyone to go here if you're craving an authentic desi food. Complete waste of money.

Only had a takeaway from Mahal. The starters and curries were really good. The pilau rice and chips were rather tasteless, and the garlic naan was disappointing too.

I love to find a good restaurant, when you are in the mood for an Indian one, then this is the place to go. Service was attentive but not intrusive. The food was absolutely top of its class. We was lucky to be there when it was opening and lucky to get a table. I believe this place books out. The atmosphere and setting is a pleasure also. Highly recommended

We had a takeaway of Chicken Jalfrezi and Ameri Murgh. Both dishes were delicious. They were very tasty with fresh ingredients. We will definitely dine in next time. The ordering process and customer service on collection was friendly and first class.

We go all over trying different curry houses. Last time we went to this place it was with previous owners,it was shocking. Was dubious to come back but so glad we did. The food was mega, staff were lovely,very attentive without being too much. Can honestly say best curry we've had in ages. We generally go to the plaza,aamani,etc will definitely have this as our local curry house now. Great place

Great place. Been there quite a few times now and the food gets better everytime. ordered butter lamb last night. chicken came out (which was great btw) as a gesture of good will, they gave me a butter lamb, rice and naan bread to take home (dinner for today sorted) They didn't have to do that as the food was fantastic. Great place, great staff.

Had Christmas lunch here today with my family. Wonderful food, as always, lovely atmosphere and brilliant service. The staff are amazing...pleasant, friendly and incredibly helpful and obliging. I cannot praise this place too highly.

8 of us went for a curry at the Mahal and the food and service was excellent. Special shout out to Ahmed who was our waiter. He gave us plenty of time between courses and never rushed us. Will definitely be back.

Wow. Amazing. It’s hard to get a good curry these days but this place is 1st class. Beautiful restaurant and friendly and attentive staff. The popadums were super fresh and warm. Starters were amazing and the main meal equally as good. Highly recommended.
